S. Korean Puppet Defence Minister's Reckless Remarks Assailed
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the puppet minister of Defence of south Korea at a session of the "National Assembly" openly let loose malignant and reckless remarks labeling the DPRK "biggest principal enemy."
In this regard, the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland released information bulletin No. 940 on Wednesday.
It said: The above-said outbursts let loose by the puppet defence minister in the wake of the call made by the puppet chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of south Korea for "a preemptive attack" on the nuclear base of the DPRK at a confirmation hearing at the "National Assembly" in March are an unpardonable provocation to it.
The puppet defence minister's recent balderdash cannot be construed otherwise than an undisguised treachery of going against the desire of the nation for reconciliation, unity and reunification and the trend of the times as it revealed once again the true colors of the Lee Myung Bak group which has persistently negated the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the bulletin noted, and went on:
History records not a few traitors who committed shameful acts of treachery, but it does not know such confrontation-minded maniacs who have run wild, regarding compatriots as "principal enemy," as the group of sycophants and traitors in south Korea.
The theory of "principal enemy" means the theory of confrontation and theory of war.
The Lee Myung Bak group's reckless remarks about the "principal enemy" go to prove that their talk about "resumption of dialogue between authorities" and "sincere consultation" is nothing but sophism intended to cover up their treacherous colors and they are an open declaration of a war against the DPRK.
Their utterances will only precipitate their disgraceful destruction as they are nothing but a foolish ploy to tide over their serious crisis through the moves for confrontation with the DPRK.
It will never tolerate the above-mentioned reckless remarks made by the Lee Myung Bak group but more strongly react to them. The group of traitors will be held fully accountable for all the consequences to be entailed by their behavior.
Congratulations to First President of Nepal
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, today sent a congratulatory message to Ram Baran Yadav upon his election as the first President of the Republic of Nepal.
In the message Kim expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Nepal would continue to develop on good terms and sincerely wished him great success in his noble work for the political stability and prosperity of the country.
Month of Solidarity with Cuban People Observed
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held here today on the occasion of the month of solidarity with the Cuban people.
Enrique Montoto Cruz, charge d'affaires a.i. and embassy officials were present there on invitation.
Present there were Minister of Education Kim Yong Jin, chairman of the Korea-Cuba Solidarity Committee, members of the committee and working people in the city.
Vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Paek Yong Ho, vice-chairman of the Korea-Cuba Solidarity Committee, said in his speech that the Cuban people have courageously met the blatant challenge of the U.S. and counter-revolutionary elements and bravely shattered their moves to isolate and stifle Cuba by more dynamically sounding the gun report of the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle and the socialist revolution in the same spirit as displayed by Fidel Castro Ruz and other revolutionaries.
He stressed that the Korean people would always stand by the Cuban people in the just struggle to beat back the U.S. aggression and interference and defend independence, sovereignty and socialism and make all efforts to boost the friendly relations between the two countries.
Enrique Montoto Cruz said in his speech that the friendly relations between the two countries provided by President Kim Il Sung and Supreme Commander Fidel Castro Ruz have grown stronger under the deep care of General Secretary Kim Jong Il and Raul Castro Ruz.
He emphasized that the Cuban people would fully support the fraternal Korean people in their efforts to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and achieve the country's reunification in the future, too.
Foreign Diplomats Visit Historic Site Associated with Fatherland Liberation War
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The economic and commercial councilors' corps here visited the Historic Site Associated with the Fatherland Liberation War on July 24 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
Being briefed on the fact that President Kim Il Sung put forward the original military idea and strategic and tactical policies and led the whole party and army and all the people to victory there during the war, the guests looked round the command post of the Supreme Command, the operation room and other places.
They also looked round various mementoes and historic sites associated with the giant footprints of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

KPA Highly Praised
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Heads of foreign delegations which visited the DPRK expressed their deep impressions of the Korean People's Army which has defended the security of the country and the people under the Songun leadership of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il.
The general secretary of the Uganda National Resistance Movement, who was leading the Ugandan party and government military delegation, said that touring different parts of the DPRK it had an opportunity to know well about the fact that the Korean people have built up powerful military forces for self-defence, reposing their profound trust in their leader.
Bolstering the defence capability presents itself as the primary requirement now that the imperialists have not abandoned their wild ambition to dominate the world by force, he noted, and continued:
No nation can firmly defend the sovereignty of the country and the gains of the revolution without defence capability for self-defence.
The successes made by the DPRK in increasing the defence capability are the fruition of the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
The KPA which has grown to be an invincible army under his care has reliably defended the socialist system from the imperialists' moves for aggression.
Kundi Paihama, defence minister of Angola who was heading its military delegation, said that the Songun policy of the DPRK is the most effective political mode as it helps push forward socialist construction, regarding the KPA as the mainstay of the revolution.
Thanks to the great Songun policy pursued by Kim Jong Il the DPRK has won only victory by standing firm against the imperialists though it is not big in its territory and in its population, he stressed.
Minister of Defense Charles D. N. P. Namoloh who was heading the Namibian government delegation said that the DPRK has solved all issues arising in the revolution and construction on the principle of attaching importance to military affairs and giving priority to them.
Kim Jong Il has turned the DPRK into an invincible country by decisively frustrating all moves of the imperialists with his Songun policy, he noted, adding that the reality of the DPRK proves that the Songun policy serves as an all-powerful treasured sword guaranteeing the country's prosperity and the people's happiness.

Revolutionary Sites Convey Undying Feats in Victorious War
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- An endless stream of soldiers of the Korean People's Army, working people of all strata and school youth and children is visiting the historic site of the Fatherland Liberation War, the Kosanjin revolutionary site and the Hyangha revolutionary site permeated with the undying feats of President Kim Il Sung who led the war to victory with the approach of the 55th anniversary of the great victory of the Korean people in the war.
The historic site of the Fatherland Liberation War is the sacred place where the Supreme Command was located from January of Juche 40 (1951) to July of Juche 42 (1953). The President, staying there, led the righteous war of the Korean people and army to the victory and thus defeated the imperialist allied forces and demonstrated the dignity and honor of Juche Korea to the world.
The historic site includes the place where he was awarded the title of Marshal of the DPRK and had a photograph taken, the leading room and operation room of the Supreme Command and other historical buildings and the historical place where he had a talk with heroes of the DPRK and model fighters.
The Kosanjin Revolutionary Site conveys the imperishable feats of the President who put forward the operational policy on a counteroffensive and wisely guided the struggle for carrying it into practice in November and December of Juche 39 (1950), the gravest period of the war. Brisk Water Sports Activities
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Water sporting activities are brisk in the DPRK in the July-August months for water sports.
The sea bathing resorts, swimming pools and wading places across the country including the recently facelifted Majon Recreation Ground and newly built Sariwon Open-air Swimming Pool are crowded with working people and school youth and children these days.
This year, too, people in Pyongyang City are taking an active part in maritime physical culture and sports activities. School youth and children in the city are engaged in making full preparations for Taedong River crossing competition.
Kangwon Province is making best use of geographical conditions of facing sea to train their body and mind through water sporting activities while widening their water sports knowledge.

Famous Koryo-made Papers
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Papers made by ancestors in the period of Koryo were noted for its excellent quality and great utility.
Among them are snow-white and thin paekchuji absorbing ink stick well, kyonji which was called cocoon paper, achongji on which only noteworthy events and important matters were recorded, graceful kumbunji, jukyobji which was valued by coming generations and changhoji which was used as window paper in daily life.
The Koryo-made papers had been become famous in the world for their high quality, goodness of writing and long preservation of their original color.
People of various countries in the Middle and Near East, to say nothing of neighboring countries, came to Koryo, carrying with them rare special products to buy Koryo-made papers.
The fibre of the Koryo-made papers which have been discovered is dense and even in length and thickness and their strength remains as they were.
This shows the high standard of the paper-making technology of Koryo.
No Force Can Dampen S. Korean People's Desire for Independence
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The anti-"government" struggle mounting in different parts of south Korea is a striking manifestation of its people's strong desire and firm will to put an end to the national humiliation and sufferings imposed upon them by foreign forces and traitors and attain genuine rights and dignity as an independent nation and independent human beings.

The south Korean people's desire for independence is entirely just and, accordingly, no force can arrest their massive struggle for realizing it.
If their desire for independence is to come true, it is necessary to put an end to the U.S. military presence in south Korea and its colonial ruling system.
The history of the above-said occupation and domination has lasted for more than six decades. The south Korean people have not yet been freed from the yoke of colonial slavery, subject to the U.S. domination and interference, while many countries and nations in the world achieved independence, freed from the foreign forces' domination. This is unbearable humiliation for the Koreans.
The deplorable situation created by the opening of south Korean market to American beef is a product of the U.S. arrogant and high-handed acts to force unconditional servility and submission upon the south Koreans and, at the same time, a natural outcome of the Lee group's treacherous policy. This time the U.S. forced south Korea to open its markets to American beef by using its colonial stooges who have neither elementary national conscience nor an iota of self-esteem. It is as clear as noonday that it will bring bigger misfortune and sufferings to them in the days ahead.
With no desperate fascist suppression to turn back history can the Lee group put down the struggle of the south Korean people to terminate the foreign domination and interference, achieve independent and democratic politics and national reunification.

Closer South-South Cooperation Called for
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The present reality urgently requires developing countries to boost South-South cooperation on the principle of collective self-reliance. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a signed article.

For developing countries to develop economy as required by the new century means laying a foundation for production based on modern science and technology and putting production and the quality of goods on such a high level that ensures international competitiveness. South-South cooperation provides an important and reasonable way for attaining the goal.
What is important for developing countries in boosting economic cooperation and exchange is to bring their scope and level to a new height.
The updating of production facilities is one of the main tasks to be carried out by developing countries to achieve economic progress in the new century.
If developing countries actively boost cooperation and exchange on the principle of satisfying each other's needs, they can push forward the above-said updating without any help from the imperialists.
For developing countries to boost cooperation and exchange in the field of science and technology is one of the most important matters in effecting South-South cooperation.
Those countries should boost cooperation in developing and using natural resources in order to solve the problem of the things not available or insufficient in their countries through less investment.

S. Korean Prosecution's Deed Flayed
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet prosecution demanded prison terms of 7 years and suspension of qualification of 7 years for Yun Ki Jin, chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon), in a trial held at the Seoul Central District Court on July 21.
The prosecution asked for such punishment, charging that "Yun's enemy-benefiting actions have been proved in the course of eight trials and he is still acting as chairman of the South Headquarters of Pomchonghakryon, an enemy-benefiting organization, this year, too."
Refuting the prosecution's statement on punishment, the defense counsel for Yun contended that "the north can never be an anti-state entity and Pomchonghakryon is a legitimate reunification movement body grouping youth and students organizations in the south and the north and overseas."
At the court Yun said that he can never tolerate the reckless behavior of the security authorities branding the pure reunification movement as one for "special purpose" and "receipt of instructions".
He condemned the security authorities' assertion that the dispatch of a delegate of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) to the grand reunification festival of Pomchonghakryon held in the north in 1999 was applicable to "counts of infiltration and escape" under the "National Security Law".
He stated that the activities of the Hanchongryon delegate in the north were the same just and legitimate action as the pro-reunification events ceaselessly held by workers, peasants, students, women, men of culture and art, politicians, religionists and other people of different social standings for the past 8 years since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.
And he described the NSL as an anachronistic and anti-reunification evil law.
At the end of the trial, the Measure Committee for the Release of Yun Ki Jin called a press conference, criticizing the reckless behavior of the prosecution as an anti-reunification act of going against the era of reunification.
Violation of Human Rights Condemned in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The Teachers Union of south Korea issued a statement on July 19, urging the Lee Myung Bak "government" to immediately accept the results of the investigation made by Amnesty International (AI) into the violent crackdown upon the candlelight rallies.
The statement noted that on July 18 the AI investigator for East Asia made public the results of the investigation made into the fascist police's violation of rights of those involved in the candlelight actions against the American beef import.
AI has clearly defined as infringement upon human rights the police authorities' crackdown, brutal penalty, indiscriminate arrest and detention, use of water cannons and fire extinguishers, etc. against the participants in the demonstrations, it added.
This notwithstanding, the prime minister prattled at an "emergency meeting" that "the use of water cannons is more peaceful means than any way of violent repression in other countries," the statement pointed out, adding that this reveals the impudent and violent nature of the Lee Myung Bak group.
The statement demanded that the "government" admit and accept the investigation results.
U.S. Moves for Nuclear War under Fire
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists are mulling deploying nuclear-powered carrier George Washington at Yokosuka Port, Japan till late in September under the pretext of coping with "contingency on the Korean Peninsula".
The secretary of the U.S. Navy disclosed this in Hawaii on July 21.
The above-said carrier, the biggest Nimitz-class nuclear-powered carrier in the U.S. Navy, will reportedly be deployed at the port to replace Kitty Hawk in supervising the military operations in the West Pacific including the Korean Peninsula.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Air Force is now busy with war maneuvers after transferring 6 F-22 Stealth fighters to Guam from Alaska State on July 18.
The ill-boding military moves clearly prove that the U.S. imperialists' loudmouthed "dialogue" and "peace" are nothing but sheer sophism to hide their bellicose nature.

Pyongyang, 24 de julio (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 55o aniversario del triunfo del pueblo coreano en la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria (25 de junio del 1950 - 27 de julio del 1953) los militares del Ejercito Popular de Corea, los trabajadores de distintos sectores, los jovenes, ninos y escolares visitan de continuo el Lugar Historico de la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria, el Lugar Historico de la Revolucion de Kosanjin y el Lugar Historico de la Revolucion de Hyangha donde estan impregnadas las inmortales hazanas del Presidente Kim Il Sung para la victoria en la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria.
El primero se trata de un sagrado lugar donde se encontraba la Comandancia Suprema del EPC desde enero del 40 (1951) hasta julio del 42 (1953), de la Era Juche.
En este lugar el Presidente organizo y dirigio la justa lucha del ejercito y el pueblo de Corea a la victoria y manifesto al mundo la dignidad y el honor de Corea del Juche venciendo las fuerzas aliadas de los imperialistas.
Alli se conservan el sitio donde el Presidente se fotografio luego de recibir el titulo del Mariscal de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, el puesto de mando y la sala de operaciones, de la Comandancia Suprema, y otros edificios historicos, el lugar donde el Presidente sostuvo charlas con los Heroes de la Republica y los combatientes ejemplares y otros.
En el segundo donde transmite las imborrables hazanas del Presidente quien presento en noviembre y diciembre del 39 (1950) de la Era Juche, periodo mas severo de la guerra coreana, la orientacion operacional para el contraataque y dirigio sabiamente la lucha por su realizacion, estan incluidos el Lugar Historico de la Revolucion de Somungori, el de Rimsonggol, el de Kujolgol, el de Pyol-o y el de Oryugol.

Fiscalia titere surcoreana demanda pena de prision contra Yun Ki Jin
Pyongyang, 24 de julio (ATCC) -- En el juicio publico efectuado el dia 21 en el tribunal local central de Seul la fiscalia titere surcoreana demando 7 anos de prision y 7 anos de suspension de calificacion contra Yun Ki Jin, presidente de la Direccion Surena de la Alianza Pannacional de Jovenes y Estudiantes por la Reunificacion de la Patria (APJERP).
La fiscalia le aplico tal pena so pretexto de que "el caracter pro-enemigo de Yun fue probado en el proceso del juicio publico de 8 ocasiones. Sigue cumpliendo en este ano tambien el cargo del presidente de la Direccion Surena de la APJERP, entidad pro-enemiga".
El grupo de abogados de Yun resistio a la proposicion de la fiscalia insistiendo en que "El Norte no es la entidad anti-Estatal, y en particular, la APJERP es la entidad legal del movimiento por la reunificacion compuesta de jovenes y estudiantes del Sur y el Norte de Corea y en Ultramar".
En el tribunal Yun dijo que no puede perdonar la locura de las autoridades de seguridad publica que tildan al puro movimiento por la reunificacion del "cumplimiento del objetivo especial" y "cumplimiento de orden".
Denuncio la conducta de las autoridades de la seguridad publica que cuestionan el envio de delegado de la "Federacion de Consejos Generales de Estudiantes Universitarios del Sur de Corea (FCGEUS)" al gran festival por la reunificacion de la APJERP efectuado en 1999 en el Norte de Corea diciendo que este se corresponde al "crimen de infiltracion y fuga" de la "Ley de Seguridad".
Refuto que las actividades en el Norte de representante de la FCGEUS eran las justas y legales como innumerables actividades por la reunificacion que los obreros, campesinos, estudiantes, mujeres, hombres de cultura y artistas, politicos y religiosos y los demas habitantes de distintos sectores desarrollaban durante 8 anos posteriores a la publicacion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio.
Senalo que de veras, la "Ley de Seguridad" es maligna ley anti-reunificacion que contraviene a la epoca.
Terminado el juicio publico, el Comite de Medidas para la Liberacion de Yun Ki Jin, presidente de la Direccion Surena de la APJERP sostuvo una rueda de prensa para condenar la conducta de la fiscalia titere calificandola de un acto anti-reunificacion que contraviene a la epoca de la reunificacion.
Actividades deportivas nauticas en Corea
Pyongyang, 24 de julio (ATCC) -- Adquieren auge en Corea los deportes nauticos con motivo del "ciclo de los mismos en julio y agosto".
Ultimamente, crece cada dia mas el numero de los trabajadores, jovenes y ninos escolares que acuden a las playas y piscinas acondicionadas por doquier del pais, por ejemplo, el lugar de recreo de Majon transformado magnificamente y la piscina al aire libre de Sariwon construida nuevamente.
La ciudad de Pyongyang, que se destaco en el pasado en la organizacion de esas actividades, impulsa este ano tambien minuciosos preparativos para la competencia del cruce del rio Taedong de los jovenes y ninos escolares.
De otro lado, aprovechando su condicion litoral, la provincia de Kangwon hace que los practicantes de deportes nauticos fortalezcan su constitucion fisica, cultiven la firme voluntad y profundicen sus conocimientos de esta materia.
En la provincia de Hamgyong del Sur se divulgan ampliamente los metodos de natacion entre los estudiantes universitarios y alumnos de escuelas especializadas, secundarias y primarias para formarlos como mejores nadadores.
Mientras tanto, la provincia de Phyong-an del Norte eleva la capacidad de natacion de los habitantes al ensenarles la concepcion general del deporte nautico y organizar de diferentes maneras las competencias.

Pyongyang, 24 de julio (ATCC) -- La realidad de hoy urge a los paises en vias de desarrollo ampliar y desarrollar aun mas la cooperacion Sur-Sur en el principio de autoconfianza colectiva.
Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual divulgado este jueves y continua:
Desarrollar la economia conforme a la exigencia del nuevo siglo significa que los paises mencionados sienten la base de produccion apoyada en la ciencia y tecnologia modernas y pongan en un nivel mas alto la produccion de los articulos y su calidad, de modo que estos adquieran la competitividad internacional. El remedio importante para resolver racionalmente este asunto es precisamente la cooperacion Sur-Sur.
Lo mas importante para desarrollar la cooperacion y el intercambio en el plano economico entre los paises subdesarrollados es ampliar su esfera y elevar su nivel.
La modernizacion de la produccion es uno de los problemas fundamentales que ellos deben tomar en cuenta para el desarrollo economico a la altura del nuevo siglo.
Si ellos desarrollan de modo activo la cooperacion y el intercambio en el principio de las transacciones mutuamente beneficiosas, es del todo posible impulsar la modernizacion de los equipos de produccion sin pedir la ayuda a los imperialistas.
Intensificar la cooperacion y el intercambio en la rama cientifica y tecnica es el asunto de mayor importancia en la cooperacion Sur-Sur.
Ellos deben fortalecer la colaboracion en la explotacion y el uso de los recursos naturales para solucionar con la minima inversion lo que no hay o escasea en el pais.
Los imperialistas nunca ayudan desinteresadamente el desarrollo economico de los paises en vias de desarrollo. Es decir, lo hacen para subyugar economicamente a estos paises y recrudecer la explotacion y el saqueo.
Por lo tanto, cifrar la esperanza en la "ayuda" de los imperialistas es el camino de autodestruccion.
Los paises en vias de desarrollo deben librar la lucha creadora proponiendose las nuevas y elevadas metas de desarrollo.
En el fututo tambien al igual que en el pasado, la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea hara ingentes esfuerzos por ampliar y desarrollar aun mas la cooperacion y el intercambio con esos paises en el principio de autoconfianza colectiva.
