Kim Jong Il Gives On-the-Spot Guidance to Recreation Ground in Mt. Paekun
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the recreation ground in Mt. Paekun now being turned into a ground for people's cultural rest.
He acquainted himself with the construction of the recreation ground, going round the newly built cultural and welfare service facilities and tourist courses.
After seeing the welfare service facilities built in such a peculiar style as to make them match the natural scenery of Mt. Paekun, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that another recreation ground for citizens in Hamhung is now under construction. He highly praised people in Yonggwang County for having done something great without being known to others.
Commanding a bird's eye view of Mt. Paekun presenting spectacular scenery, he said that every part of the country abounds in scenic spots. Our people are highly proud of fully enjoying a genuine life in the beautiful socialist homeland with brilliant culture and an ancient history, he added.
He put forward tasks to be fulfilled to spruce up the recreation ground in Mt. Paekun and ways to do so.
Then he walked round the buildings of the rest home newly built by Yonggwang County.
Making the rounds of the exterior and interior of the attractive buildings in thick woodland, he learned about their construction and operation and set forth the tasks to be fulfilled to operate the rest home.
He also visited the Ryonghung Temple, an ancient cultural site in Mt. Paekun.
He went round different places of the temple including its main building to learn about how the relics are preserved and managed.
It is of important significance in preserving the Juche character and national identity and fostering patriotism to preserve well the historical and cultural relics associated with the wisdom and talents of the Korean people and successfully educate them through those relics, he said, stressing the need to effectively conduct the work to properly preserve excellent national cultural heritages and thus imbue the people with higher pride and honor of the Korean nation.
He advanced the tasks to be implemented to preserve and manage the historical and cultural relics, noting that they are precious cultural treasures of the country.

Traitor Lee Myung Bak and S. Korean Puppet Military Urged to Take Measure to Stop Scattering of Leaflets
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- The head of the north side's delegation to the inter-Korean military working-level talks on Friday sent a notice to the puppet military taking a grave note of the fact that the Lee Myung Bak group set in motion the puppet military and right-wing anti-communist organizations in south Korea to resume all forms of scattering of leaflets against the DPRK.
Terming the above-said act a new intolerable provocative act of totally negating all the military agreements reached between both sides on implementing the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the head of the north side's delegation in the notice pointed to its grave nature.

Conference of Educators of North and South Held
Mt. Kumgang Resort, May 30 (KCNA) -- A conference of educators of the north and the south for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration took place at Mt. Kumgang resort on May 29 and 30.
Speeches were made at the conference on the subject "On the immediate tasks facing the educators of the north and the south to open up a new era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration".
Speakers recalled that educators in the north and the south have conducted brisk activities to implant the desire for reunification and patriotism into the minds of the rising generation and broad masses, pooling the will and wisdom for the peace and reunification of the country.
They underscored the need for the above-said educators to wage a dynamic struggle to uphold and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration under any circumstances and remove all legal and institutional barriers standing in the way of achieving national unity and reunification.

Achievements in Branch Academy of Forest Science
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- Researchers of the Branch Academy of Forest Science under the State Academy of Sciences have expanded the achievements.
The researchers of the Institute of Forest of Economic Value are successfully nursing myriads of saplings of various species on an experimental farm. Among them are Aronia melanocarpa, Hippophae rhamnoides and chestnut tree which are of great economic value.
In order to mass-propagate white pine-nut tree to be sent to different parts of the country, they are widely applying the grafting propagation method to various experimental farms while making researches into cultivating a new species of poplar tree in mountainous areas.
The institute has experience not only in breeding a new species of walnut tree higher in the rate of harvest than the existing ones and a highly productive Xanthoceras sorbifolia that can be cultivated in cold areas but also in mass-producing them.
The institute is also nursing lots of saplings of Aronia melanocarpa with various physiological activators, vitamins and other elements good for health on the basis of the successes made in perfecting its cultivation method and the method of processing its fruit. It now exerts much effort to raising saplings of trees of great medicinal value.
The Institute of Forest Management has completed a method of creating drought-proof mixed forest, which is being applied to production.
Researchers have worked out a plan for planting needle-leaf trees such as pine-nut tree in proper combination with broad-leaved trees including alder tree in areas along trunk roads and railway tracks and around villages.
The Institute of Forest Reservation has found out the cause of the wilting disease of oak and the twig blight of pine tree and is taking measures to prevent their spreading.
Many successes have been made in introducing various scientific and technical methods for preventing the damage by the pine caterpillar.
It is also successful in using already-developed bio-agricultural medicines and using the natural enemy in exterminating noxious inspects.
Researchers of the branch academy are engaged in deepening the research work for obtaining new species of trees with great economic value.
Brisk Creation of Acrobatic Works
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Circus of the DPRK is right in the thick of the creation of new acrobatic pieces.
It is channeling its main efforts to rendering a more specific tone to the aerial stunts which are on the top rung of the world acrobatic ladder.
The creating staff have completed on a high level scripts of aerial stunts such as "Spreading the wings of youth", "Let's fly over clouds" and "Brave youths" which are new in style and thick in national flavor.

Books on Agricultural Science and Technology Off Press
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- Many new books were brought out by the Agricultural Publishing House this year.
Among them are books "References for cultivating rice in paddy fields" and "Estimation of nutritious elements of soil" which explain scientific and technological issues arising in boosting the grain production by taking proper measures according to the production of rice in paddy fields and nutritious conditions of cultivated land.
There are also books dealing with scientific and technological issues arising in vegetable cultivation and theoretical and practical issues in ensuring species of domestic animals and breeding them and taking care of them, propagating them and cultivating potato.
Rodong Sinmun on Reactionary Nature of Imperialists' "Human Rights" Policy
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- The imperialists are claiming that their "human rights standard" is an "accepted standard," while taking issue with "human rights performance" in other countries this or that way. But they are, in actuality, not entitled to talk about human rights.

By "human rights" the imperialists mean privileges for the rich whereby they can do whatever they like with money and their trumpeting about "defence of human rights" is nothing but sophism intended to protect the privileges of a handful of persons belonging to the ruling class.
Referring in detail to the human rights record in a capitalist society and the fact that the recent U.S. "annual report on human rights" is triggering off anger of the international community, the article goes on:
The imperialists are, indeed, savage human rights abusers as they perpetrate politically motivated terrorism against the innocent people and progressive figures claiming genuine freedom and democracy and wantonly violate the working people's elementary rights to existence and independence.
Today they are using "human rights issues" as a means for realizing their domination over other countries and interference in their internal affairs.
In the past the United States used to perpetrate even armed invasion against those countries which incurred its displeasure while putting pressure on them under the pretext of "human rights issues."

But their true colors as human rights abusers are brought into bolder relief as the days go by. S. Korean Authorities' Traitorous "Pragmatism" under Fire
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- The "pragmatism" advocated by the Lee Myung Bak group has resulted in nothing but increasing south Korea's colonial dependence, aggravating economic bankruptcy and impoverishment of people's living and bedeviling inter-Korean relations. With nothing can it justify "pragmatism" or convince anybody.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in its commentator's article.
Unacceptable is "pragmatism" touted by the Lee Myung Bak group as it is a criminal move to cover up their true colors as sycophantic traitors keen on confrontation with the north, stem the trend of the times towards independent reunification and peace and prosperity and reduce the inter-Korean relations to a plaything of outside forces, the article asserts, and goes on:
Lee's loudmouthed "pragmatism" is nothing but a treacherous rash act as it negates the idea common to the nation and incites confrontation with fellow countrymen, ignoring the fundamental characteristics and reality of the inter-Korean relations.
"No nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars" peddled by traitor Lee Myung Bak as a "policy toward the north" suffices to prove that he is desperately pursuing the confrontation between the north and the south in ideology, ism and system while calling for someone's "change" and blaming "human rights issue".
Lurking behind the signboard of "pragmatism" put up by Lee is his reactionary intention to negate and quell the spirit of "By our nation itself", the idea common to the nation clarified in the June 15 joint declaration.
"Pragmatism" on the lips of Lee is no more than an anti- reunification watchword as it is intended to reduce the inter-Korean relations to those between businessmen seeking selfish aims and perpetuate the national division in his own interests.
"National interests" and "reciprocity" oft-repeated by the Lee group are quite contrary to the principle governing the inter-Korean relations and the purpose of inter-Korean cooperation reflecting the unanimous will of the nation. These phraseologies go to prove that they are seized with the philistine disposition of the mean-spirited dealers who give primary consideration to narrow-minded pursuit of interests and seek their own profits, utterly indifferent to interests common to the nation and reunification.
Lee's "pragmatism" is little short of a hideous act of treachery as it is intended to sell off the national interests to the outsiders and make the dignity and sovereignty of the nation their plaything.
Under the signboard of "pragmatic diplomacy" Lee advocated the "priority to the south Korea-U.S. relations", claiming that the "development of inter-Korean relations is possible only when the relations between south Korea and the U.S. remain good." He also blustered that he would deal with the inter-Koreans relations depending on the relations with the U.S. He went the lengths of uttering that he would settle the issue of inter-Korean relations in the context of external relations by internationalizing it.
Lee, not satisfied with leaving south Korea to the tender mercy of outside forces, seeks to make the inter-Korean relations subject to the relations with the U.S in a bid to sell off the national interests to foreign forces.
The ulterior motive of Lee's "pragmatism" was brought to light by the recent visits he paid to the U.S. and Japan under the signboard of "pragmatic diplomacy."
He described cooperation with fellow countrymen as a "drain on resources", but was busy offering everything to his American and Japanese masters, disgustingly kowtowing to them. This is truth of the Lee group's loudmouthed "programmatic diplomacy."
All those facts go to prove that "pragmatism" much publicized by Lee is nothing but a fig-leaf to cover up the true colors of the Lee group as traitors and anti-reunification elements as it is the most odious sycophantic and treacherous watchword and the one aimed at realizing his political ambition by sacrificing the national interests to serve the outside forces.
Anachronistic Rash Acts of Traitor Lee under Fire in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) in a statement on May 26 excoriated traitor Lee Myung Bak for negating the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and insisting on such anachronistic "policy toward the north" as "no nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars."
The interests of the nation and its development should be placed above all from the stand of "By our nation itself" before expecting any reward in order to achieve reunification, the statement said.

Anti-"Government" Struggle Declared in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) made public a statement on May 26, declaring that it would stage a vigorous anti-"government" struggle against the Lee Myung Bak group which is trying to import American beef under any circumstances, indiscriminately repressing the candlelight struggle of people from all walks of life.
Noting that the group is nowadays making desperate efforts to put down the struggle against the beef import, it said that the public sentiment burning like candlelight will not pardon the "government's" fascist crackdown upon the people's will.
It pointed out that the "government" revived the "measure council of related organs" involving even the "Intelligence Service" as the past dictatorial regime did so as to expand the anti-democracy repressive mechanism.

Demolition of Concrete Wall Demanded by CILRECO
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- The International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea (CILRECO) issued a statement on May 20 demanding the demolition of the concrete wall.
The statement said that the more than 240km-long concrete wall dividing the Korean Peninsula into two parts was built by the south Korean authorities several decades ago according to the "two Koreas" policy of the U.S.
The U.S. decided to set the man-made "border" between the north and the south under the pretext of the north's "threat of southward aggression" in a bid to perpetuate the division of Korea, the statement noted, adding that the concrete wall has not yet been pulled down despite the process of reunification pushed forward according to the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
Accusing the present Lee Myung Bak regime of working hard to stem the trend of Korea's reunification, the statement held that under this situation the world progressive forces should call on the international community to fulfill its responsibility for getting the concrete wall pulled down in order to achieve the reunification and peace of Korea.

Senalo que tanto en el pasado como en el presente, los graduados de la universidad desempenan el papel protagonico en el sector sanitario y evaluo altamente las proezas de los profesores, empleados y estudiantes realizadas ante el partido, la revolucion, la patria y el pueblo.
Apunto que el plantel debe mejorar e intensificar de continuo la labor docente conforme a la demanda de la realidad en desarrollo y formar a mas galenos talentosos.
La mas importante tarea de la universidad es formar a los estudiantes como verdaderos revolucionarios que sean fieles al partido y la revolucion y tengan gran amor por el ser humano.
Agrego que la devocion es el atributo fundamental y la linea vital de la salud publica socialista, que sirve para las masas populares, y anadio que la universidad debe intensificar la educacion politico-ideologica para formar a todos los estudiantes como fieles servidores al pueblo con gran humanidad.
Para formar a los estudiantes como competentes funcionarios medicos demandados por la epoca, hay que mantener con firmeza el caracter jucheano en la educacion, combinarla con la practica y mejorar constantemente los metodos pedagogicos.

CIERECO demanda desmantelar muralla de hormigon armado
Pyongyang, 30 de mayo (ATCC) -- El Comite Internacional de Enlace por la Reunificacion y la Paz en Corea (CIERECO) publico el dia 20 una declaracion en demanda del desmantelamiento de la muralla de hormigon armado.
La nota revela que segun la politica de "dos Coreas" de Estados Unidos, las autoridades surcoreanas construyeron hace varios decenios esa instalacion divisoria de mas de 240q de largo, que atraviesa el medio de la Peninsula Coreana.
Senala que para perpetuar la division de Corea, EE.UU. decidio bloquear la "frontera" artificial entre el Norte y el Sur de Corea bajo el pretexto de la supuesta "agresion al Sur" por el Norte.
Prosigue que pese al proceso de reunificacion que marcha segun la Declaracion Conjunta Norte-Sur del 15 de Junio, la muralla de hormigon armado no ha sido desmantelada todavia.
Critica que el actual "poder" de Lee Myung Bak maniobra para detener la corriente hacia la reunificacion de Corea.
Bajo tales circunstancias, las fuerzas progresistas del mundo deben demandar a la comunidad internacional que cumpla con su responsabilidad en el colapso de la muralla referida por la reunificacion y la paz de Corea.
Conferencia de ensenantes Norte-Sur por ejecucion de declaraciones
Monte Kumgang, 30 de mayo (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar los dias 29 y 30 en este monte la conferencia de ensenantes Norte-Sur de Corea por la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y la Declaracion del 4 de Octubre.
En la reunion hubo intervenciones bajo el tema de "Sobre la tarea inmediata de los ensenantes del Norte y el Sur para abrir la nueva epoca de la reunificacion independiente, la paz y la prosperidad bajo la bandera de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y la Declaracion del 4 de Octubre".
En la ocasion los oradores hablaron de que en el pasado los ensenantes del Norte y el Sur de Corea libraron dinamicas actividades para infundir a las nuevas generaciones que crecen y amplias masas el sentimiento de patriotismo por la reunificacion aunando la voluntad y el sentimiento en el camino para la paz y la reunificacion del pais.
Senalaron que los ensenantes del Norte y el Sur tienen que mantener y ejecutar en cualquier situacion la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y la Declaracion del 4 de Octubre y desarrollar energicamente la lucha por eliminar toda clase de obstaculos legales e institucionales que estorban la unidad de la nacion y la reunificacion del pais.
Subrayaron que los ensenantes del Norte y el Sur deben alzarse activamente tambien en lo adelante a las actividades para glorificar mano a mano la epoca de reunificacion iniciada el 15 de junio.

Se crean nuevas piezas acrobaticas
Pyongyang, 30 de mayo (ATCC) -- El Conjunto Circense de Pyongyang trabaja intensamente para crear nuevas piezas acrobaticas.
En particular, presta mucha atencion a los trabajos para dar mas originalidad a las piezas de acrobacia aerea que toman la heguemonia en el escenario mundial del circo.
Los creadores completaron en un alto nivel los guiones de las piezas acrobaticas aereas de fuerte matiz nacional y nueva modalidad como "Con el brio de la juventud", "Volemos sobre las nubes" y "Jovenes valientes".
Ademas, escribieron perfectos guiones de las obras de otros generos como el equilibrismo "Aguilas", la acrobacia sobre hielo "Amontonamiento de vasos", el acrobatismo corporal "Juego en el columpio" y la acrobacia comica "Taladrador alegre".
Por su parte, los acrobatas trabajan uniendo su inteligencia y pasion para completar las piezas en el nivel correspondiente a sus guiones.
