Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on May 21 sent a message of greetings to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of its national day.
Kim in the message expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Azerbaijan would grow stronger, wishing the president success in his work for the progress and prosperity of the country.

Sinchon Museum Visited by Endless Stream of Koreans, Overseas Compatriots and Foreigners
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- More than 15.4 million people have visited the Sinchon Museum in Sinchon County, South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK for the past five decades since it was opened. Among them were at least 220,000 overseas Koreans and more than 30,000 foreigners.
During the last Korean War, the U.S. imperialists and class enemies killed more than 30,000 innocent people or a quarter of the population of Sinchon County in the most brutal way.
Sanatoriums Rebuilt
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Working people of the DPRK are now enjoying medical services in the sanatoriums including the Kim Jong Suk Sanitarium at state expenses.
Sanatoriums in different parts of the country have been rebuilt on the expansion basis and a lot of modern rural houses with lodging rooms constructed around them.
A recuperation pavilion, spa treatment rooms and a general treatment center have been spruced up at the Talchon Sanatorium for Disabled Soldiers in the Jongdal Hot Spring, around which modern rural houses for recuperators have cropped up.
The Sijungho Sanatorium noted for mud treatment has been repaired and partially rebuilt. Not only the mud-treatment and physical treatment rooms but also the mess hall and bathrooms have been spruced up splendidly.
A good many modern rural houses with lodging rooms have also taken shape for recuperators at the Hwangjin Hot Spring in the region of Mt. Chilbo, the Naegok Hot Spring in Pochon County, the Wonhung Hot Spring in Tongsin County and the Kalsan Hot Spring in Phangyo County.
More sanatoriums are being built or rebuilt wherever hot springs or mineral springs are found.
While expanding sanatoriums, the state has rounded off their management system.
Somokri Heron, Natural Treasure
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- There is a habitat of Somokri heron in Jangjin County, South Hamgyong Province of Korea.
Hundreds of herons fly to the low hill, which is called "Woegaridong", on the western shore of the Jangjin Lake on Jangjin Plateau, to lay and hatch eggs from March to October every year.
Occasionally they appear in Pujon, Sinhung and Yonggwang Counties beyond the Jangjin area.
Three to seven pairs of herons perch in their nests on each tree, which look like white flowers in full bloom in green forest.
The number of Somokri herons is increasing as days go by under the protection of the government and people.
KCNA Flails Japan's Evermore Shameless Moves to Grab Tok Islet
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Japan has become all the more brazen-faced in its moves to seize Tok Islet.
In February the Japanese authorities marked this islet as part of Japan's territory on the homepage of its Foreign Ministry and in May they announced their decision to designate the islet as such in "the manuals explaining the new study guidelines" for primary and middle schools.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology justified this, openly claiming that it was to help "the younger generation who would shoulder upon themselves the future of Japan to have a correct understanding of the territory of Japan."
The Japanese authorities' intensified education in the "dominium over Tok Islet" proves that their criminal moves to teach young Japanese distorted history and instill territorial ambition into them in a bid to realize their sinister intention to grab Tok Islet have reached an extremely reckless phase in all aspects.
In recent years Japan made sure that the islet was described as "part of Japan's territory" in the textbooks for middle and high schools, openly disclosing its attempt to seize the islet, an inalienable part of Korea's territory. But it is the first time that it marked the islet as part of its territory even in the "study guidelines" and "manuals" for schools.
Tok Islet has been an inalienable part of territory of Korea since the time of its ancestors.
The Japanese authorities are sadly mistaken if they think they can grab Tok Islet by tampering with their history and unilaterally insisting on their assertion.
Japan asserted Tok Islet's coming under the jurisdiction of Shimane Prefecture in 1905 as a "legal ground" for its "dominium over Tok Islet". But the assertion has already been proven to be hypocritical.
The fact that Tok Islet was marked as part of the territory of Korea in a textbook which was used as a teaching material for schools ranging from primary to high schools not only in Japan but in Korea and Manchuria during Japan's colonial rule over Korea was recently brought to light. There are many other data proving the injustice of Japan's "dominium over Tok Islet".
Japan's territorial claim to Tok Islet is a declaration of its moves for reinvasion of Korea and the revival of imperialism.
The international community should heighten vigilance against Japan as it goes arrogant, seeking territorial expansion again against the backdrop of worldwide problem of natural resources, economic fluctuation and "war on terrorism."
The Korean people are greatly angered at the Japanese authorities' crafty moves to realize their ambition to grab the islet by egging the pro-Japanese sycophantic traitors in south Korea on to work harder to usher in a "new era of Japan-south Korea relations."

Japanese Reactionaries' Moves for Space Militarization Assailed
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- A recent meeting of the House of Councillors of Japan formally adopted "a law on basic policies for the use of the space." This is aimed at legislatively allowing the military use of the space in a bid to give bigger authority to the "Self-Defense Forces" (SDF) and speed up the military expansion in the space. The Japanese reactionaries are noisily advertising that the adoption of the above-said law is a measure to cope with the "threat" from someone in an effort to cover up the sinister aim sought by it, the commentary notes, and goes on:
No country in the world poses any military "threat" to Japan at present.
The Japanese reactionaries seek to realize their ambition for turning their country into a military power and their scenario for overseas expansion by hastening the space militarization under the pretext of "threat" form someone.
To this end, they are working hard to increase the military operation capability of the SDF and build a missile shield.
Their moves for the space militarization are a link in such chain efforts.
The Japanese reactionaries are hastening the space militarization under the pretext of "defense" in an effort to boost the capability to make preemptive strikes at other countries including the DPRK and hold an unchallenged military edge.
They have long advocated the military use of the space, talking about the "right to self-defense," and frantically stepped up the preparations for it.

Japan Urged to Redress Its Past Crimes
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Japan should liquidate its crime-woven past, to begin with, as it is a starting-point for Japan to put an end to its crime-woven history and win the trust of the international community.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary.
Participants in a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva some days ago termed the system of "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army a crime against humanity and demanded that the assailants be brought to the court of justice and Japan make reparation to the victims, says the commentary.
The Japanese side, however, made poor excuses, making "apology" and expressing "regret," it notes, and goes on:
There are not a few countries in the world which committed war crimes, but it is only Japan which has persistently resorted to all sorts of trickeries in a bid to evade its responsibility to liquidate its past century after century, with its crimes unredeemed.
Japan has already experienced a hot agony of shame while impudently behaving in a bid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. But Japan is attributing this distrust of the international community to its "diplomatic shortcoming" instead of finding the reason in its refusal to liquidate its past.
It can be said that Japan's foreign policy is characterized by its servility to the U.S. and diplomacy to win clout through the offer of money. The bid made by Japan to take a responsible post at the United Nations through subservience to the U.S. and money-manipulated diplomacy, putting the liquidation of its past on the shelf, cannot be construed otherwise than a move to emerge a political power and repeat the crime-woven history under the signboard of the UN.
Japan is employing sleight of hand to get its past crimes buried into oblivion with the passage of time, but it is nothing but a folly which can be perpetrated by the politically amaurotic persons who cannot look ahead into the future even a bit.

Minju Joson Calls for Bringing down U.S.-S. Korea "Alliance" for Aggression
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today calls for bringing down the U.S. and south Korean war maniacs' alliance for a war of aggression against the north in a signed commentary carried on the lapse of 40 years since the start of the south Korea-U.S. annual "defense ministers' meeting".
During the period the name of the meeting changed into an "annual security consultative meeting" but its aggressive nature and danger remain unchanged, the commentary says, recalling the fact that the U.S. and south Korean war maniacs "discussed" the matter of stepping up the preparations for a war of aggression against the north under the signboard of "alliance" every year.
What merits attention is that this alliance for a war of aggression against the north has been further tightened since the Lee Myung Bak regime emerged in south Korea, the commentary notes, and goes on:
Lee is now leaving no stone unturned to "reinforce the alliance" with the U.S. No sooner had he come to power than he visited the U.S. before any other lackeys of south Korea. He put forward the so-called "value", "trust" and "peace-making" as the "three principles of alliance" while talking about the "strategic alliance in the 21st century".
The south Korean bellicose forces are now giving spurs to the preparations for a war of aggression against the north according to the outcome of Lee's junket to the U.S. He is running wild to do harm to fellow countrymen with the backing of his American master while begging the U.S. for "stronger alliance". These criminal acts of treachery committed by Lee are escalating the tension on the Korean Peninsula day by day and bringing the inter-Korean relations back to those in the past era of confrontation.
The U.S. should drop its aggressive Korea policy, stop egging the south Korean puppets onto confrontation between the north and the south and withdraw its forces from south Korea. Reckless Racket of Military Confrontation under Fire
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The anti-reunification bellicose forces are bound to meet a stern judgment of history as they persistently kick up a racket of military confrontation with the DPRK while giving priority to the cooperation with the aggressive foreign forces and going against the implementation of the October 4 declaration.

The Lee Myung Bak regime in south Korea is hell-bent on stoking confrontation with the fellow countrymen and straining tension in frantic cooperation with the foreign forces in their moves to provoke a war against the DPRK.
The Lee group's provocative introduction of up-to-date war hardware in the wake of its ridiculous remarks calling for a "preemptive attack on the DPRK" clearly shows that its theory of "preemptive attack" is being put into practice. A particular mention should be made of the recent visit paid by traitor Lee Myung Bak to his U.S. master and the fact that he begged it to "stop the reduction" of the U.S. imperialist forces of aggression in south Korea and raise south Korea's status in purchasing weapons. This has brought into bolder relief his true colors as traitor and warhawk hell-bent on aggravating the military tension on the Korean Peninsula and launching a war against the DPRK at any cost in military collusion with the outsiders.
It is a precondition for implementing the October 4 declaration to eliminate all remnants spawn by the military confrontation and ensure peace.
However, the Lee group is denying the above-said precondition and insisting on the illegal and bogus "northern limit line", the leftover of the Korean war of aggression ignited by the U.S. imperialists and the inter-Korean confrontation era. Actions against Import of American Beef Unabated in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- A large-scale candlelight action against the import of American beef was staged in Chonggye Plaza in Seoul on May 24 under the theme "Let People judge mad cow, mad policy and mad government."
It was participated in by at least 25,000 members of civic and public organizations grouping people of different social standings, citizens and students.
Speakers at a candlelight rally held before other events accused the present "government" of working hard to impose the misfortune resulting from the mad cow disease upon the people.
Traitor Lee will not be able to escape a stern judgement of people should he open the market to American beef siding with the U.S. government and stock-breeding enterprises, they warned.
Then its participants staged a candlelight demonstration towards the "Chongwadae."
Their action continued till the morning of May 25.
On May 23 the Federation of Student Councils of the Herbal Medical Universities of south Korea held a rally in the above-said plaza in protest against the import of American beef.

The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in a statement issued on May 23 condemned the U.S. ambassador in Seoul for his interference in the internal affairs of south Korea as evidenced by his act of threatening over phone a representative of an opposition party of south Korea who opposed the import of the beef and accused the Lee Myung Bak regime of its sycophancy toward the U.S.
Security Authorities' Suppression of Patriotic Student under Fire
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Federation of University Student Councils issued a statement on May 22 denouncing the security authorities' suppression of a pro-reunification patriotic student.
The statement referred to the fact that on May 21 the "Security Investigation Group" (SIG) unreasonably arrested Paek Hyong Jin, chairman of the General Students Council of Chosun University for 2004, on the charge of violation of the "National Security Law".
Noting that the rash acts of the pro-U.S. lackeys who are not able to understand the trend of the times have already gone beyond the danger line, they called for repealing the NSL, immediately releasing all prisoners of conscience and dissolving the SIG at once.
South Korea-U.S. "Annual Security Consultative Meeting" Assailed

Pyongyang, 27 de mayo (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea, inspecciono la Unidad de Formacion de Suboficiales No. 1727 del EPC.
Se mostro satisfecho de que la unidad realiza con eficacia la educacion de entrenamiento para que los militares novatos adiestren los reglamentos militares y los movimientos en el orden cerrado.
En el ejercito los suboficiales inclusive el jefe de escuadra son los miembros quienes practican directamente la vida disciplinaria y militar y son los educadores sobre los soldados, y, por esta razon, es muy importante su papel en el establecimiento de la disciplina militar, dijo y presento las tareas que se presentan en la labor didactica de la Unidad.
Al ver el recinto del cuartel limpio ordenado y el lugar de descanso al aire libre acondicionado dentro del bosque frondoso, el Comandante Supremo elogio la esmerada administracion de la unidad materializando estrictamente el metodo al estilo de la Guerrilla Antijaponesa.
Al recorrer la Casa de Militares, la biblioteca y otros establecimientos de cultura y educacion se entero del estado de la labor politica para los militares.
Enfatizo que deben elevar mas el grado de la educacion revolucionaria y la de clase para los militares, para hacer que todos estos vivan y luchen de manera revolucionaria manteniendo la aguda vision clasista y el firme principio revolucionario.
Recorrio el dormitorio, el comedor, el bano, el deposito de alimentos subsidiarios y otras instalaciones de intendencia prestando gran atencion a la vida de los militares novatos.
Senalo que a fin de formar a todos estos como excelentes suboficiales es preciso mejorar incesantemente la labor docente conforme a la demanda de la realidad en desarrollo y al mismo tiempo, prestar la mayor atencion al aseguramiento de la vida de ellos.

Kim Jong Il inspecciona subunidad de Unidad No. 836 del EPC
Pyongyang, 27 de mayo (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea, inspecciono una subunidad adscrita a la Unidad No. 836 del EPC.
Luego de hacer conocimiento del estado de cumplimiento de la mision y del entrenamiento, el Comandante Supremo se mostro satisfecho de que todos los militares de la subunidad se forman como combatientes capaces de pelear a solas contra cien rivales y de disuadir a cualesquier enemigos muy fuertes que sean y presento las tareas para incrementar la combatividad de la subunidad.
Al enterarse en la sala de educacion de la situacion de la educacion ideologica y la vida cultural, se puso muy contento de que la subunidad realiza originalmente la labor politica conforme al sentimiento y psicologia de los militares y de que estos llevan una rica vida cultural utilizando varios equipos culturales.
Senalo que hoy dia, todas las unidades forman a sus militares como combatientes fuertes en fe prestando primordial atencion a la labor politico-ideologica y agrego que la prioridad a la idea es el remedio omnipotente propio del EPC, el metodo de construccion del ejercito a nuestro estilo y la bandera de victorias que siempre debemos levantar en alto.
Al divisar el recinto del cuartel y el bosque copioso acondicionado en los alrededores, elogio el patriotismo de los uniformados senalando que los arboles plantados hace mas de 10 anos han formado este frondoso bosque.
Subrayo que cuando los militares posean el patriotismo socialista, pueden amar apasionadamente el socialismo coreano sintiendose muy orgullosos del mismo y luchar tenazmente por defender de la agresion de los enemigos la patria socialista y las conquistas de la revolucion y anadio que ellos deben desplegar con mas vigor el movimiento por adornar mejor sus puestos.

ATCC critica atrevidas maniobras de Japon para extorsionar isla Tok
Pyongyang, 27 de mayo (ATCC) -- En estos dias, se tornan mas descaradas las tentativas de Japon para extorsionar la isla Tok.
En febrero ultimo, las autoridades japonesas la anotaron como una parte del territorio japones en la pagina web del MINREX y en mayo, anunciaron la decision de hacerlo asi en la "guia del nuevo programa directriz del estudio" para las escuelas primarias y secundarias.
El Ministerio de Educacion, Cultura, Deporte, Ciencia y Tecnologia de Japon justifico esas medidas diciendo abiertamente que ellas "se orientan a dar correcta comprension de su territorio nacional a las nuevas generaciones encargadas del futuro Japon".
La intensificacion de la educacion en la "territorialidad sobre la isla Tok" muestra que entraron en la etapa total y sumamente peligrosa las maniobras criminales de las autoridades japonesas de alcanzar a toda costa su siniestra meta de usurpar la isla en cuestion al ensenar a las nuevas generaciones la historia distorsionada y sembrarles el expansionismo territorial.
En los ultimos anos, en su abierto intento de arrebatar esa isla, que pertenece legitimamente a la nacion coreana, las autoridades japonesas mandaron anotarla como "tierra japonesa" en los manuales de las escuelas secundarias y las superiores.
Pero, esta es la primera vez que lo hicieron hasta en el "programa directriz del estudio" y en su "guia" para dichas escuelas.
Desde remota antiguedad, la isla Tok vino formando parte del sagrado territorio de la nacion coreana.
Estarian muy equivocadas las autoridades japonesas si piensan que podrian convertirla en la suya falsificando la historia y reclamandola unilateralmente.
Quedo revelado patentemente lo fraudulento de la "anexion de la isla Tok en 1905 al departamento de Shimane de Japon", que fue utilizada por este pais isleno como "prueba legal" de su "derecho de posesion" de la misma isla.
Hace poco, se conocio que esa isla fue registrada como tierra coreana hasta en el manual que durante el colonialismo japones sobre Corea, fue usado como material didactico desde en las escuelas primarias hasta en las superiores no solo en el territorio japones sino tambien en Corea y Manchuria.
Hay de sobra los datos que comprueban lo absurdo de la "territorialidad de Japon sobre la isla Tok".
Las maniobras de este pais isleno para arrebatarla significan la declaracion de que agrediria de nuevo a Corea y resucitaria el imperialismo.
La sociedad internacional debe tomar cautela ante las prepotentes maniobras de Japon que quiere volver a expandir su territorio aprovechando el problema de recursos naturales, la fluctuacion economica y la "guerra antiterrorista" de alcance mundial.
El pueblo coreano esta muy indignado por la gran astucia con que las autoridades japonesas intentan realizar su ambicion de arrebatar la isla Tok seduciendo a los vendepatrias projaponeses del Sur de Corea con la teoria de la "nueva epoca entre Japon y Sur de Corea"
Las autoridades japonesas deberan actuar con prudencia al darse cuenta de que el atentado a la dignidad y la soberania de la nacion coreana les hara sufrir imprevisibles consecuencias catastroficas.
Superan 15 millones 400 mil visitantes al Museo de Sinchon
Pyongyang, 27 de mayo (ATCC) -- Durante 50 anos desde su inauguracion hasta la fecha, el Museo de Sinchon situado en el distrito del mismo nombre de la provincia de Hwanghae del Sur de Corea fue visitado por mas de 15 millones 400 mil.
Entre ellos sobrepasan 220 mil y 30 mil los coreanos residentes en ultramar y los extranjeros, respectivamente.
Durante la pasada guerra coreana (1950-1953), los imperialistas yanquis y los enemigos de clase asesinaron empleando metodos mas barbaros a mas de 30 mil habitantes inocentes que correspondian al cuarto de la poblacion de ese distrito.
