Japanese Reactionaries' Moves for Space Militarization under Fire

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Recently the ruling parties and the Democratic Party of Japan jointly submitted to the Diet a "basic bill on space" calling for applying the principle of peaceful use of space to the project for attaining a "defensive purpose" and, in addition to it, setting up a "strategic headquarters for space development" headed by the prime minister in the Cabinet and inaugurating a "space department," etc.
Rodong Sinmun today observes in a signed commentary carried in this regard:
The attempt of the Japanese reactionaries to adopt the above-said bill is to allow by law the use of space for a military purpose and justify it as a state policy.
The moves for space militarization frantically stepped up by the Japanese reactionaries are not to "protect" Japan but to find a pretext for justifying those moves, the commentary notes, and goes on:
These moves bring to light the dangerous scenario to realize space militarization and ambition for overseas expansion as they are aimed at putting the strategic areas including the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity within their space observation network and mounting a preemptive attack on those areas any time.
The Japanese reactionaries regard space militarization as one of the key points as they are keen to realize in this century at any cost the old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" which they failed to do so in the past, always preoccupied with it.
Their claim that they want to use space for a "defensive purpose" is nothing but a subterfuge to cover up the criminal nature of the aggressive space militarization for overseas expansion.
Japan's moves for space militarization are the root cause of wrecking global peace and security and sparking off an arms race.
These moves, however, are little short of a suicide as they will only precipitate their own self-destruction.
Japan would be well advised to bear this in mind and give up the space militarization.

Minju Joson Flays Japan's Moves for Overseas Expansion

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Some days ago the Japanese chief cabinet secretary showed the intention to continue the dispatch of the Air "Self-Defense Force" to Iraq. He expressed his displeasure over the ruling of the judgment of the Nagoya High Court that the dispatch of the SDF to Iraq is illegal, saying that the judgment is incomprehensible.
Meanwhile, the chief of Staff of the ASDF prattled that the ruling is insignificant when the opinion of the SDF servicepersons is taken into consideration. And the Japanese defence minister defended the chief, saying that his mind is fully understandable.
Commenting on their reckless remarks, Minju Joson today says:
Herein lies the black-hearted intention of the Japanese reactionaries to legalize the overseas dispatch of the SDF troops by all means and expand it.
Japan has sought the overseas dispatch and operation of the SDF under the pretext of the cooperation with the U.S. "war on terrorism." Its real intention is to speed up the moves for turning it into a military power and open the path for overseas aggression by zealously taking advantage of the U.S. aggressive "war on terrorism."
The Japanese reactionaries are painting the SDF dispatch to Iraq with "contribution" to international peace and security, but nothing can cover up the fact that it is the preliminary operation for the overseas expansion in every way.
It is a big miscalculation that they seek to turn Japan into a military power and set out on the road of conquering Asia and the rest of the world with the backing of the U.S. Such persistent moves prompted by ambition for reinvasion will bring them nothing but self-destruction.

Stop to S. Korean Conservative Media's Release of Misinformation Demanded

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- The Citizens Federation for Democratic Press Movement called a press conference in Seoul on May 9 to denounce conservative media including Chosun Ilbo, Choongang Ilbo and Dong-A Ilbo for releasing misinformation as regards the opening of south Korean market to American beef, the south Korean KBS reported.
The organization said that the recent rallies held by people from all walks of life almost every day in protest against the import of American beef were just actions to oppose the "government's" humiliating attitude and prevent the "mad cow disease".
It accused the conservative media of misrepresenting the nature of those actions by painting them as "a result of the agitation by some political forces".
Assailing the conservative media for releasing misinformation that candlelight rallies held by Internet users, citizens and students themselves were engineered by "forces behind the scene", the statement demanded an immediate stop to such false reporting.

Security Authorities' Suppression Denounced in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- A joint conference of human rights organizations in south Korea released a statement on May 7, denouncing the public security authorities for suppression of school youth and children in the struggle against the import of American beef.
The statement accused the police authorities of conducting investigation at schools in the area of Songnam, Kyonggi Province on May 7 under the pretext of "finding out a person who wrote an anonymous letter peddling a queer story about mad cow disease".
Dismissing this as a rowdyism of the "government" authorities aimed to crack down upon the people of different strata in their struggle against the import of American beef, the statement termed suppression of juveniles an anachronistic act.
It is due to Lee Myung Bak's wrong policy that several queer stories denouncing the traitor are spreading all over south Korea these days, it stressed.
School youth and children, too, are members of the nation and have freedom of expression, the statement said, condemned the police authorities' investigation as an evident violation of human rights.

S. Korea's Opening of Its Market to American Beef under Fire

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Korean women in the U.S. issued a statement on May 7 in protest against south Korea's opening of its market to American beef.
The statement said they cannot but express concern about the compatriots in south Korea whose life and health are threatened by traitor Lee Myung Bak's action to open the market to American beef, adding that beef fraught with the danger of "mad cow disease" is sold in the markets across the U.S. this year, causing great social confusion.
It noted that the U.S. stockbreeding industry is backward in its environment and the success rate of the examination of the "mad cow disease" is less than one percent.
The statement deplored that the outcome of the recent negotiations has put south Korea in such a situation where it can hardly refuse the import of American beef as it wishes though cattle infected with the above-said disease is discovered in the U.S.
Holding that south Korea should never accept such outcome of the negotiations from the stand of the people, the statement demanded the south Korean "government" nullify the negotiations and push for renegotiations.
