Japan's Moves to Infuse Militarism into Young Japanese under Fire

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- Of late the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology issued the revised guidelines for schools. They called for regarding it as one of the important contents of education to encourage the pupils of the primary schools to sing "Kimigayo" and teaching the middle school students the validity of the overseas activities of the "Self-Defence Forces" including school activities to help them understand "security and defence of Japan" and its "international contribution".
Rodong Sinmun Sunday observes in a signed article carried in this regard: This is a very dangerous move to force all the generations to come in Japan to widely sing "Kimigayo" dating back to the "imperial" era in a bid to equip them with the militaristic idea and hurl them into overseas aggression when an appropriate time comes.
"Kimigayo" was a symbol of Japanese militarism whose intrinsic nature is aggression, plunder and man-killing.
After war Japan frantically stepped up its moves for rearmament under the backing and patronage of the U.S. imperialists and, at the same time, worked hard to infuse the militaristic idea into young Japanese, in particular. As a result, dangerous militarism began to raise its head and go beyond its tolerance limit gradually. By instituting "Kimigayo" as the national anthem it sought to restore its image used to be in the past and boost its prestige and showed the world that it is the "empire" capable of launching a war again any time.
Due to the persistent moves of the Japanese reactionaries, "Hinomaru" was instituted as the national flag and "Kimigayo" as the national anthem in Japan in 1999. This meant that Japan has revived the era of "Empire". Herein lies the dangerous and reactionary nature of the Japanese reactionaries' moves to implant "Kimigayo" into the minds of the rising generation. Should they make desperate efforts to infuse the militarist idea of aggression into the younger generation and bring back the past, they will get nothing but disgrace and self-destruction. The Japanese imperialists suffered a defeat while perpetrating aggression and war in the past. The "Kimigayo" sung by them turned out to be a funeral march.
The world has changed and "Kimigayo" will not be heard again anywhere in Asia.

Lee Myung Bak Group's Rash Acts Assailed

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- The conservative ruling forces of south Korea are now persistently crying out for putting into practice their watchword "no nukes, opening and 3 000 dollars", hiding its treacherous and anti-reunification nature despite the mounting criticism of them. They have gone the lengths of pulling up the north in a bid to shift the responsibility for the deteriorated inter-Korean relations onto it.
    Commenting on this, Minju Joson Sunday observes;
The group of traitor Lee Myung Bak is echoing foreign forces' anti-DPRK ruckus, impudently crying out for somebody's "dismantlement of nukes" and "opening." This disgusting behavior is nothing but a shameful deed which could be done only by those who do not have even an iota of sense of the times and awareness of the nation.
    The news analyst goes on:
The nuclear issue was spawned on the Korean Peninsula and the Koreans have been exposed to the danger of a nuclear war for the last more than half a century entirely because the U.S. has massively stockpiled nuclear weapons in south Korea, pursuant to its hostile policy toward the DPRK.
Nevertheless, the Lee group remains utterly indifferent to the issue of making the U.S. withdraw its huge nuclear weapons from south Korea. On the contrary, it is pulling up the fellow countrymen who have protected the security of the nation from the danger of aggression by foreign forces, blatantly challenging the trend of the times.
The nation should never pardon such traitors who fail to fulfill the elementary sense of obligation as human beings but seek to do harm to the fellow countrymen in collusion with outsiders.
The traitors serving foreign forces, their backs turned against the nation, are fated to meet disgrace and self-destruction only. The Lee group would be well advised to bear this in mind and stop its rash acts.

World IP Day Observed

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today dedicates a signed article to World Intellectual Property Day (World IP Day).
    The article says:
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was founded to boost international cooperation in the field of intellectual property. In view of increasing concern over the intellectual property the 35th meeting of the WIPO held in 2000 set April 26 as World IP Day. To mark this day every year a theme is chosen to hold colorful events.
In August 1974, the DPRK became a member state of the WIPO which groups at least 180 countries.
Now intellectual property is gaining in scope as science and technology make progress worldwide and researches are being intensified to protect and develop it.
The Socialist Constitution in the DPRK clearly stipulates the legal protection of copy and patent rights. On this basis state laws and regulations specifically provide for the legal protection of intellectual property.
The well-regulated system for the protection of intellectual property in the DPRK serves the purpose of strictly protecting by law the intellectual gains made by all working people and helps them make a positive contribution to the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
The DPRK government will as ever increase its efforts to protect the intellectual property, keeping in touch with the WIPO, concludes the article.

Rodong Sinmun Brands Lee Myung Bak as Imbecile

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- Lee Myung Bak during his recent junket to the United States threw the public opinion in confusion by raising the issue of establishing a "liaison office."
In this regard Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes: What he uttered was nothing but a shameful deed which could be done only by an imbecile and political somnambulist as he knows nothing about how the north-south relations have developed and how things are going in the world.
Lee must be an imbecile as he neither knows the history of the development of the north-south relations in which they have advanced in the idea of national independence and unity nor understands the trend of the present times towards peace and reunification, the signed article notes, and goes on:
By touting the issue of setting up the "liaison office" between the north and the south which he does not know properly he fully revealed his uneasiness and anxiety.
As known well, no sooner had the Lee Myung Bak group came to power than it adopted confrontation with the DPRK as a policy and worked hard to overturn everything achieved between the north and the south after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, backed by the U.S.
As a result, the situation grew tense on the Korean Peninsula all of a sudden and the north-south relations were put in the danger of a collapse, triggering off the public criticism and condemnation of the Lee regime. Even heavyweights of the political camp accused the authorities of deliberately deteriorating the north-south relations to spark a "security crisis".
Much upset by this, the traitor proposed the above-said issue as the last resort.
No matter how noisily the Lee group may tout it, it is nothing but a poor trick to escape mounting criticism at home and abroad, evade the responsibility for the strained north-south relations and mislead the public attention.
Lee Myung Bak would be well advised to stop employing sleight of hand which can work on nobody and take a proper approach towards the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration to begin with.

Actions against Present Ruling Forces Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in south Korea made public an appeal on April 22 in which it called for foiling rash acts of the present ruling forces through an all-people struggle.
The appeal said that Lee Myung Bak's junkets to the U.S. and Japan were an epitome of the treacherous and unpopular policy.
It accused Lee Myung Bak of more undisguisedly pursuing confrontation with compatriots while talking about the "strategic alliance with the U.S. in the 21st century" and shutting his eyes to the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past under the pretext of "pragmatism," stressing that such sycophancy has reached an intolerable phase.
As soon as he came to power, he only kicked up a whirlwind of suppression of progressive forces, swimming against the trend of the times towards independent reunification, peace and prosperity and totally denying the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, it charged.
The appeal called for bringing down the Lee Myung Bak "regime" blatantly challenging the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration by the concerted efforts of all people. It also called for putting an end to his treacherous policy and bringing about a new era, new politics desired by the people.

S. Korean Military Authorities' Moves to Expand War Exercise Ground under Fire

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- Members of the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and the Inhabitants Committee for Measures against the Expansion of the Drill Ground in Mugon-ri in south Korea held a rally in Kyonggi Province on April 22 in protest against the military authorities' moves to expand the military drill ground.
At the rally speakers accused the military authorities of pushing forward the project to expand the drill ground in Mugon-ri in such a coercive method as threatening its inhabitants and forcibly evacuating them.
A resolution read out at the rally held that the training ground in Mugon-ri is a ground for war exercises aimed at making preparations for fighting a real war, ie to mount a preemptive attack on the north, and a drill ground for the exclusive use by the U.S. forces.
To further expand the training ground very close to the Military Demarcation Line is a treacherous and anti-reunification act of going against the trend of the times, it noted.
The appeal urged the people from all walks of life to wage a dynamic struggle to check the expansion of the training ground in Mugon-ri in order to protect the vital rights of the inhabitants there and achieve peace and reunification of the nation.

South Headquarters of Pomminryon Meets

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) held the second general meeting of its 10th-term Central Committee on April 20.
A resolution read out at the meeting dealt with the dynamic nationwide struggle to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea and achieve the peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula.
The Lee Myung Bak group, in league with the U.S. imperialists, is becoming all the more undisguised in the moves for confrontation with compatriots, defying the unanimous desire of the fellow countrymen for reunification and, at the same time, intensifying the suppression of the progressive forces, it charged.
The South Headquarters of Pomminryon will more firmly uphold the June 15 joint declaration and more thoroughly implement it and make voices of "By our nation itself" ring louder on this land as the conservative ruling forces become undisguised in their moves against reunification, it said, stressing the need to set June 15 as the day of "By our nation itself" and powerfully demonstrate the nation's will for reunification.
It underscored the need to struggle to check the moves of the U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak group keen on tightening the "military alliance," strengthen the solidarity among Koreans in the south and the north and abroad and consolidate the solidarity and alliance of patriotic people from all walks of life in this land as firm as a rock.
