Kim Yong Nam Sends Greetings to Iranian President
Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, today sent a message of greetings to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the victory in the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
Sincerely wishing the Iranian president greater success in his responsible work for the sovereignty of the country and the prosperity of the nation, Kim expressed the belief that the excellent friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would grow stronger in all fields.
School Youth and Children Tour Area of Mt. Paektu
Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- A group of school youth and children from across the country made a study tour of revolutionary sites and battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu between Feb. 3 and 9 on the occasion of the birthday of Kim Jong Il.
The members of the group placed floral baskets and bunches of flowers before the statues of President Kim Il Sung in the Pochonbo Revolutionary Battle Site, on the shore of the Lake Samji and the Chongbong Camping Site before paying tribute to him.
They deeply grasped the preeminent military tactics and strategy of the President, looking round the then command post of the Pochonbo battle and the police post of the Japanese imperialists, etc.
They arrived at the secret camp in Mt. Paektu after visiting the Posori spring site, the Junghung tableland, the Phothae Revolutionary Site and the Rimyongsu Revolutionary Site. They held a meeting before the old home of Kim Jong Il in the secret camp to vow their loyalty to him.
They went round the group sculptures of the Samjiyon Grand Monument and visited some places in the area of Samjiyon including the Paektu Hall, the Samjiyon Schoolchildren's Palace and the sports village in the area of Mt. Paektu.

Mixed Orchestra, Embodiment of WPK's Juche-oriented Idea on Literature and Art
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- Mixed orchestra peculiar to the DPRK is a precious national treasure, a product of the bright wisdom and outstanding guidance of Kim Jong Il, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
The mixed orchestra created in the 1970s turned to good account all possibilities of the western musical instruments based on national musical instruments. It is an original and Juche-based perfect orchestra of Korean style incomparable with any other preceding orchestra in view of its organization, tone and representation.
The mixed orchestra of Korean style is characterized by that it combined the western musical instruments with national ones with a clear purpose from the Juche-oriented stand and that its scientific accuracy is fully guaranteed.
The creation of the mixed orchestra of Korean style helped establish the Juche character and national character in production and creation in all fields of music and art and make progress in depth while satisfactorily meeting the growing aesthetic demand of the popular masses and put an end to the development of the European-centered orchestra. Guaranteeing Peace on Korean Peninsula Called for
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- Guaranteeing peace on the Korean Peninsula serves as an important factor for ensuring peace of the world.

The peace on the Korean Peninsula is directly connected with the world peace because, first of all, the United States regards the Korean Peninsula as a breakthrough for achieving its new world strategy.
The U.S. imperialists consider the Korean Peninsula which is surrounded with different powers as the most suitable region favorable for realizing their wild ambition for military domination over the Asian Continent.
In the new century, the U.S. imperialists designated the DPRK as a main target of military attack and seek to make it a victim of war in a bid to establish military domination over Asia.

Organization in S. Korea Vows to Struggle for Repeal of NSL
Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- We will carry on our vigorous struggle in firm solidarity with the forces of conscience at home and abroad till the "National Security Law" (NSL) is abrogated.
The Press Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration declared this in a statement released on Feb. 1 as regards the verdict of "not guilty" declared for photographer-writer Ri Si U.
The statement referred to the fact that the first hearing held at the Seoul District Court on Jan. 31 ruled that the charge of the violation of the NSL brought against Ri was groundless.
The court decision once again proves that as long as the NSL remains in force, innocent people cannot but fall victim to it on unreasonable charges and once again confirms the urgent need to scrap this evil law, the statement held.
Accusing the "government" authorities of persistently insisting on keeping the NSL while asserting that they would be "prudent in applying it," the statement said that this behavior is fostering the abuse of the NSL and human rights abuses.
Crackdown upon Education in Reunification Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The Press Headquarters of the South Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration reportedly made public a statement titled "Detention of teacher by invoking 'National Security Law' (NSL) is crackdown upon education in reunification" on February 1.
The statement accused the security authorities of detaining Kim Hyong Gun, a teacher affiliated with the Teachers' Trade Union of south Korea, on charges of praise and encouragement, a poisonous provision of the NSL, while terming his participation with students in a memorial service for pro-reunification patriotic martyrs an education for awakening pro-north ideology.
The security authorities' arrest of the teacher by invoking the evil law is clearly a violent crackdown upon education in reunification, the statement said, stressing:

Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- Figures of South Africa and Italy in statements issued on Feb. 3 on the occasion of the birthday of Kim Jong Il highly appreciated his leadership feats.
Madala Masuku, chairman of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party who is minister of Land and Agriculture of the province, in a statement noted that Kim Jong Il's leadership is the greatest one in the world political history and his exploits are the feats performed by the distinguished statesman wisely leading not only the Korean people but also progressive mankind in their struggle for independence against imperialism.

February Holiday Celebrated in China
Beijing, February 8 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Koreans in China took place in Beijing on Feb. 5 on the occasion of the birthday of Kim Jong Il.
It was attended by Jo Yong Hwan, chairman of the Zhongnan Regional Association of the General Association of Koreans in China, and its officials and Koreans in China.
A congratulatory letter of the Zhongnan association to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
The participants of the meeting watched the Korean film "They were always together on the road to bring about the people's well-being".

Great Holidays of DPRK to Be Observed in Different Countries
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- A Nigerian national preparatory committee and a Guyanese preparatory committee were inaugurated with due ceremonies on February 1 and January 29 to commemorate the Day of the Sun and February 16.
Ibrahim Mantu, former deputy president of the Senate of Nigeria, was elected chairman of the Nigerian national preparatory committee.
Robert Williams, chairman of the Guyana National Committee for the Development of the Friendship Relations with the DPRK who is vice mayor of Georgetown City, was elected chairman of the Guyanese preparatory committee.
The preparatory committees decided to organize colorful functions to significantly commemorate the days.
Information Bulletin Issued in Mexico
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The Mexican Committee for the Study of Kimilsungism issued information bulletin No. 2 carrying a photo showing the venue of the Kimjongilia festival on the occasion of the February holiday.
The information bulletin in an article titled "Kimjongilia" said that the flower has struck the world people with admiration as it is beautiful and charming, referring to the fact that it was awarded top prizes at various flower shows and that the International Society for Horticultural Science officially registered it as a new begonia family.
It referred to biological features of the flower, background against which the flower came into being and the fact that the flower is widely propagated in different countries.
The history never knows such flower that rapidly spread all over the world soon after its appearance, being loved and revered by all the people as was the case with Kimjongilia, the bulletin noted, stressing:

Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il's work "The Juche Philosophy Is An Original Revolutionary Philosophy" was brought out in booklet on Feb. 4 by the Brazilian Photograph Publishing House.
The work, published on July 26, Juche 85 (1996), makes a scientific analysis of the limitation of the times of the preceding philosophy and the originality of the Juche philosophy and clarifies the idea that the Juche philosophy serves as a revolutionary philosophy and a political philosophy of the Workers' Party of Korea and principled issues arising in the study and dissemination of the Juche philosophy.
Withdrawal of U.S. Forces from S. Korea Urged
Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- The Switzerland-Korea Committee issued a statement on Feb. 1, 50 years after the U.S. deployment of nuclear weapons in south Korea in which it demanded the U.S. imperialists quit south Korea, taking them with it at once.
Recalling that the U.S. officially announced its introduction of nukes into south Korea in January 1958, the statement declared that this criminal act for aggression is a wanton violation of the Armistice Agreement.
Denouncing the U.S. for having turned south Korea into an arsenal of more than 1,000 nuclear weapons and staged provocative war exercises for aggression against the DPRK every year, the statement noted that this is threatening the peace not only on the Korean Peninsula and Asian-Pacific but the rest of the world.
It is entirely thanks to the peace-loving policy of the DPRK that a new war has not broken out on the Korean Peninsula in the last period, the statement said, stressing that the U.S. should withdraw its nukes from south Korea instead of talking about the non-existent "threat from the DPRK".

Pyongyang, 9 de febrero (ATCC) -- En un articulo individual publicado este sabado, el diario Rodong Sinmun subrayo que la musica orquestal combinada al estilo coreano es un valioso patrimonio nacional creado gracias a la extraordinaria perspicacia y destacada guia del Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
La musica orquestal combinada de Corea, creada en la decada de los 70 del siglo pasado, se basa principalmente en los instrumentos nacionales al tiempo que aprovecha al maximo las funciones de los occidentales, senala el articulista.
Prosigue que tanto en vista de su combinacion como a la luz de su tonalidad y poder expresivo, es imposible medir con ningun concepto anterior esa musica tan perfecta, original y autoctona.
