Film Show and Friendly Meeting Held
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Culture arranged a film show and friendly meeting at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel for officials in charge of cultural relations at embassies of different countries here on Tuesday on the occasion of the birthday of Kim Jong Il.
Present there were also Vice-Minister Paek Han Su and other officials of the Ministry of Culture and movie persons.
They watched the Korean feature film "Kang Ho Yong."
Then followed a friendly meeting.
The participants talked to one another about the need to boost cooperation and exchange in the field of culture and arts among countries and sang songs.
India Donates Food to DPRK
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- The Indian government donated food to the DPRK.
Present at the presentation ceremony held at Nampho Port on Tuesday were officials concerned and Indian Ambassador to the DPRK Zile Singh.
February Holiday Celebrated in China
Beijing, February 3 (KCNA) -- A celebration, film show and reception took place in Beijing on Feb. 1 on the occasion of the birthday of Kim Jong Il under the co-sponsorship of the China Association for International Friendly Contact and the Beijing Association for International Friendly Contact.
Speeches were made at the celebration meeting.
Shen Weiping, vice-president of the China Association for International Friendly Contact, noted that last year the Party, the army and the people of the DPRK pushed ahead with socialist construction along the road of Songun, firmly rallied around Kim Jong Il, overcoming an unprecedentedly severe natural disaster, augmenting the national power and steadily raising the international prestige and registering rich successes in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
Shen Weiping stressed that the China association would as ever join hands with the comrades of the DPRK and make a greater contribution to steadily boosting the relations between the two countries and the two peoples.
Choe Jin Su, DPRK ambassador to China, expressed thanks to the China association and Beijing association for arranging significant celebrations and presenting a congratulatory letter and gift to Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the auspicious February holiday.
He hoped that the Chinese people would overcome the difficulties caused by the natural disaster as early as possible and carry out the tasks set forth by the 17th Congress of the Communist Party of China and thus make progress in the drive to build a comprehensively well-off society and successfully hold Beijing Olympics.
The participants of the film show watched the Korean film "They were always together on the road of the great Songun leadership."
Congratulations to Kim Jong Il from Chinese
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with a congratulatory message and gift by the families of persons related to the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle in China on the occasion of the February holiday.
He also received a congratulatory message and a gift in the joint name of the China Association for International Friendly Contact and the Beijing Association for International Friendly Contact.
The messages and gifts were separately handed to the DPRK ambassador to China on Feb. 1.
Day of Sri Lankan Independence Observed
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the Chollima House of Culture on Feb. 4 to mark the 60th anniversary of the independence of Sri Lanka.
Present there were officials of the Korea-Sri Lanka Friendship Association including its chairman and working people in the city.
A congratulatory speech was made at the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, the participants looked round photos introducing the history, culture and customs of the Sri Lankan people.
New Postage Stamp Issued
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- A new stamp (a souvenir sheet) has been issued in the DPRK in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the naming of a newly cultured flower Kimjongilia.
Carried in the stamp are a photograph of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il standing in a flower garden.
Printed at the bottom of it are the words "In Commemoration of 20th Anniversary of Naming of Flower Kimjongilia, Immortal Flower".
Since it was born in February, Juche 77 (1988) Kimjongilia has been widely disseminated on the five continents of the world with great attraction as the "King of Flowers," catching the admiration of humankind.
17th International Figure Skating Festival for Paektusan Prize to Be Held in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- The 17th International Figure Skating Festival for Paektusan Prize will be held in Pyongyang from February 15 to 17.
According to Kim Jun Jip, deputy secretary general in charge of figure skating of the Skating Association of the DPRK, players from nearly 10 countries will participate in it. Among them will be players who proved successful in the world figure skating championships and winter Olympic games.
Demonstration performances will be presented by figure skating masters of various countries along with figure skaters of the DPRK.
The preparatory work for the festival is being pushed ahead at the finishing stage.
Rodong Sinmun on History of Songun Revolutionary Leadership
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- The whole history of Kim Jong Il's Songun revolutionary leadership is the sacred revolutionary history of a great revolutionary and statesman which cannot but be called a forced march, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed article.
The forced march is a mode of activity and leadership peculiar to Kim Jong Il, a mode which runs through his revolutionary activities.
He considered it as an immovable creed to complete the Korean revolution in the spirit of forced march that started on Mt. Paektu and by the mode of forced march in the course of hewing out the way of the unprecedentedly arduous and rigorous revolution together with President Kim Il Sung long ago. Kim Jong Il adorned the whole course of revolutionary leadership with ceaseless forced march.
He has continued making the forced march in the whole course of revolutionary leadership, deeply aware of his noble mission and confident that the harder he works, the richer and stronger the country becomes and the happier its people get. The immensely valuable tradition and wealth for the victory of the Juche revolution would be unthinkable without his tireless efforts and zeal.
In the course of weathering out hardships and ordeals to remain loyal to the leader, the Korean people learned from his spirit of making a forced march, acquired such strong idea and faith as struggling the way he did and emerged heroes in creation who know nothing impossible.
His history of the forced march is a precious history of struggle as he has worked exceptionally hard not merely for today but for the prosperity of the country and nation in the distant future.
"Love Future!" is a slogan put up by him while making an endless forced march with a revolutionary view on life that one must live not merely for today but for future.
This forced march is a continuation of the long journey of the forced march made by President Kim Il Sung all his life.
Kim Jong Il set out on the road of the revolution after making a firm pledge to glorify Korea true to the intention of the President and has since carried out the forced march for several decades to honor his pledge.
Every day of his forced march was characterized by his profound love and devotion to the country, the revolution and the people.
Kim Jong Il has always emerged victorious in the struggle with his indomitable will, reacting to the enemy's hard-line policy with the toughest stand with the fixed faith and grit that he who laughs last laughs longer by holding higher the red flag of the revolution whenever the situation got more difficult.

Rodong Sinmun on Danger of Japan SDF's Participation in "Anti-Terror War"
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries have recently passed a new "bill on special measures against terrorism" through the House of Representatives under the pretext of "cooperation in the anti-terror war" though it had been voted down at the House of Councillors due to the rejection by opposition parties. This set the stage for putting the new law into force, legalizing the dispatch of the Maritime Self-Defence Force to the Indian Ocean and its involvement and cooperation in the U.S.-led "anti-terror war."
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes in a signed commentary carried in this regard:
The Self-Defence Forces' participation in the "anti-terror war" means a prelude to the Japanese militarists' overseas invasion and a test military operation for actual war. Herein lie the reactionary nature and danger of the SDF warships' resumption of refueling operations overseas.
By instituting a "permanency law" the Japanese reactionary ruling quarters seek to legally and rapidly dispatch huge troops of the SDF overseas irrespective of place and time. The SDF's theatre of military operations is extending to vast areas of Asia-Pacific and the Indian Ocean, going far beyond the boundary of Japan.
Japan is working hard to bolster modern military strike means, while resuming the military activities of the SDF warships in the Indian Ocean and stepping up the moves to build a new missile shield. This is aimed at launching military operations for aggression in real earnest in these regions from a strategic point of view. The DPRK is its primary target. This is evidenced by the fact that the Japanese reactionaries have recently deployed "Aegis" destroyer "Kongo" in the Sasebo base close to the DPRK in the wake of its test-firing of an interceptor missile, while driving the DPRK-Japan hostile relations into an extreme phase. The Japanese militarists are set to launch operations to conquer Asia and the rest of the world with their reinvasion of Korea as a starting point.
It is as clear as noonday that now Japan has become the root cause of threatening peace and stability in Asia and the rest of the world.
It is necessary to remove the root cause of war before it is too late.
U.S. Bellicose Forces' Policy of Military Supremacy under Fire
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- The U.S. decision to develop a long-range strategic bomber of new generation comes under fire by a signed commentary of Minju Joson Tuesday.
This plan reveals its intention to shape a more ambitious strategy for world supremacy and further modernize military hardware in accordance with it in a bid to put the world under its military control with ease, the commentary observes, and goes on:
The U.S. Air Force is contemplating developing the latest type strategic bomber having the same nuclear attack capability as B-52's, supersonic flight function of B-1, stealth function of B-2, ultra-modern sensors and equipment for electronic warfare as well as capability to conduct operations under any climatic conditions. Through this, it seeks to make a more effective use of the bomber for carrying out its strategy for world supremacy.
It is quite obvious that the U.S. development and possession of such long-range strategic bombers of new generation would make it possible for the U.S. to gain a military control over all parts of the earth including the possible launch of nuclear attack on any region of the world from its mainland.
It is beyond doubt that the new strategic forces now being built up by the U.S. with so much effort would make the major hotspots and strategically important strongholds of the world their operational theatres and targets.
The U.S. massive deployment of such unmanned planes, F-22s and F-35s in the Pacific hints that the U.S. Air Force's future strategy is to beef up its forces in Asia-Pacific including the Korean Peninsula. The above-said new bombers will also serve this purpose.
The above-mentioned U.S. strategy would only disturb the peace and stability in the region and escalate the military confrontation and spark off serious military clashes in the end.
The U.S. will be chiefly to blame for the ensuing consequences.
Suppression of Jongyojo Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- The Teachers' Trade Union of south Korea (Jongyojo) reportedly issued a statement on Jan. 30 urging the security authorities to immediately release Kim Hyong Gun, chairman of the reunification committee of its North Jolla Provincial Branch, who conducted the education in reunification, and halt their crackdown upon Jongyojo.
The security authorities charged that Kim paid tribute to guerrillas and distributed enemy-benefiting handbills at the memorial service for pro-reunification patriotic martyrs held in Sunchang in 2005 and conducted the education in reunification among students. And they searched his house on the basis of Chosun Ilbo's distorted report and summoned and interrogated him on ten odd occasions last year. Then, they finally detained him on Jan. 29 by invoking the "National Security Law."
Their reckless behavior is not only violation of educational authority and human rights but also an act of swimming against the trend of the June 15 reunification era, the statement pointed out.
Japan's Evasion of Responsibility to Redress Crimes Related to Sexual Slavery Censured in S. Korea
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- The Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps, the Federation of Women's Organizations, the Bar Association for a Democratic Society and the Citizen's Solidarity for Democratic Society of south Korea reportedly presented to the UN Human Rights Council a joint report on the issue of "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army on January 29.
The report accused the Japanese government of having evaded its responsibility for the sexual slavery enforced by Japan in the past defying the international community's recommendation demanding it honestly repent of the crime and formally apologize for it and the resolutions on the issue of "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army adopted in different countries of the world.
Recalling that those women who had been taken away as "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army are still suffering mental and physical pain and most of the survivors are aged 80 and above, it demanded the issue be settled as early as possible.
The report urged the UN Human Rights Council to actively opt for the settlement of the issue.
Greatest Holidays of DPRK to Be Observed Abroad
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- Preparatory committees for commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16 were inaugurated in Kareliya of Russia and Indonesia with due ceremony on Jan. 27 and 30.
Viktor Yegorov, co-chairman of the Kareliya-DPRK Friendship Association of Russia, was elected chairman of the Kareliya preparatory committee and Ristiyanto, chairman of the Indonesia-Korea Association for Friendship and Cultural Exchange, chairman of the Indonesian preparatory committee.
The Kareliya preparatory committee decided to organize colorful functions including meeting, film show and photo exhibition on the occasions of the above-said days and the Indonesian preparatory committee set the days from Feb. 11 to Apr. 15 as a commemoration period and decided to organize various events in the period.

Pyongyang, 5 de febrero (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 4 en la Casa Central de la Juventud el seminario nacional sobre las inmortales hazanas del Dirigente Kim Jong Il quien con su grandiosa direccion del Songun (priorizacion militar) trajo la aurora de una gran potencia prospera.
En la ocasion fueron publicados cinco trabajos.
Al hacer uso de la palabra, el redactor en jefe de la Editorial del Periodico Rodong Sinmun, Kim Jung Hyop, argumento que la mas relevante entre las grandes proezas del Dirigente Kim Jong Il realizadas ante la patria y la revolucion es que el edifico en el territorio patrio una potencia socialista politica e ideologica bajo la bandera de la unidad monolitica.
Ryo Chun Sok, rector general de la Academia Militar General Kim Il Sung, senalo en su intervencion que al dirigir la revolucion del Songun, el Comandante Supremo Kim Jong Il fortalecio el Ejercito Popular de Corea (EPC) como invencibles fuerzas armadas revolucionarias preparando asi una firme garantia militar de la construccion de una patria prospera.
Continuo que la mas importante de sus proezas es que convirtio el EPC en el fuerte en ideologia y conviccion con el espiritu de defender a costa de la vida al lider y en las fuerzas armadas sin rivales con enorme potencial militar y tecnico.
El vicerrector de la Universidad de Economia Nacional, Hwang I Chol, en su discurso, se refirio a que el Dirigente desarrollo la economia nacional en la independiente con fuerte caracter jucheano e hizo que se registren cambios eficientes en la mejora de la vida del pueblo.
El presidente del Instituto de Reunificacion de la Patria, Ri Jong Hyok, en su discurso, enumero las hazanas del Dirigente quien al practicar la gran direccion del Songun defendio la seguridad de la nacion y preparo la garantia fundamental para la reunificacion de la patria y la prosperidad de la nacion, y con su noble amor a la nacion y gran magnanimidad allano el ancho camino para el logro de la reconciliacion y la unidad entre el Norte y el Sur y para la coprosperidad de la nacion.
El secretario responsable del Comite del Partido del Trabajo de Corea en el Secretariado del Consejo de Ministros, Kim Kwang Yon, a su vez, subrayo la necesidad de acelerar la gran marcha general para la construccion de la gran potencia prospera socialista bajo la direccion del Songun del PTC y recalco que se debe librar la fuerte ofensiva ideologica para poner de pleno manifiesto el espiritu de todos los militares y habitantes para asi llenar todo el pais del temperamento de creacion y de auge sin precedentes y hacer todos los trabajos a manera del Dirigente tomando por guia las hazanas de direccion del PTC.

Festividades en China por el 16 de febrero
Beijing, 3 de febrero (ATCC) -- Con motivo del cumpleanos (el 16 de febrero) del Dirigente Kim Jong Il, tuvieron lugar el dia primero en esta capital un mitin, encuentro de cine y banquete bajo coauspicios de la Asociacion China de Enlace para la Amistad Internacional y la entidad homonima de Beijing.
Shen Weiping, vicepresidente de la primera entidad, en su discurso, senalo que en el ano pasado, unidos compactamente en torno al Dirigente Kim Jong Il, el partido, el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea impulsaron la construccion socialista marchando por el camino del Songun (priorizacion militar).
De esta manera, -prosiguio- superaron inusitados desastres naturales, fortalecieron el poderio nacional mejorando constantemente la posicion internacional del pais y lograron muchos exitos en la construccion de una gran potencia prospera.

Pyongyang, 5 de febrero (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il recibio una carta de felicitacion y regalo que le dirigieran los familiares de los hombres relacionados con la lucha revolucionaria antijaponesa residentes en China.
Ademas, lo hicieron tambien a nombre comun la Asociacion China de Enlace para la Amistad Internacional y la entidad homonima de Beijing.
Las cartas y regalos fueron trasladados por separado el dia primero al embajador coreano en China.
