Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the command of KPA Combined Unit 375.
He looked round the room devoted to the history of the combined unit, guided by its commander. Noting that thanks to the wise leadership and meticulous care of President Kim Il Sung, the unit has grown to be a mighty combined unit having a-match-for-a hundred units, Kim Jong Il underscored the need to briskly conduct education through the room so that all servicepersons may deeply cherish the profound solicitude shown by the President.
He dropped in at the operational command room and the military lecture room to acquaint himself with the unit's performance of duty and the training of its commanding officials. He set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines for increasing its combat capability.
He went round the servicepersons' hall, a library and other ideological, cultural and educational facilities to learn in detail about the political work conducted among its servicepersons.
Seeing the pencil drawings done by soldiers of the unit, he said that they are good works truthfully reflecting their worthwhile service and highly appreciated their artistic talents.

Then he took deep care of soldiers' living, making the rounds of a mess hall, a kitchen, a non-staple food store and other supply service facilities.
He highly appreciated the successes made by the unit in the past, praising the commanding officers of the unit for having provided its servicepersons with good living conditions with a proper viewpoint on the supply service.

KCNA Indicts Japan for Its Sexual Slavery

Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency released an indictment titled "We denounce crimes related to 'comfort women' committed by Japan, world's worst abductor" on Jan. 31 as regards Japan's continued ruckus over the "abduction issue" although it abducted or took away millions of Korean women and young and middle-aged Koreans after putting Korea under its colonial military rule in the past century.
The following are excerpts from the indictment:
The crimes related to the "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army were a product of the abduction pursued by the state of Japan.
The Japanese king, and the government and the military which acted by his order and ratification are chiefly to blame for the abduction.
The right to enlist and control "comfort women" rested with the Japanese king who held judicial, administrative, legislative and all other state power under the constitution of the Japanese Empire.
The Ministry of Army organized and managed the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army with the king's approval and at his instruction.
The ministry directly pushed forward the work to enlist "comfort women", set up "comfort stations" and supervised the overseas transfer of "comfort women".
The Japanese imperialists' policy of sexual slavery was enforced in Korea, to begin with.
Under an agreement reached among the commander of the 19th Ranam division, the chief of the military police and provincial governors, more than 30 "comfort stations" for the exclusive use by servicemen were built in Phunggok-dong, Ranam District of Chongjin City in North Hamgyong Province in 1928 and women were taken away from across the Korean Peninsula for their operation.
The operation to abduct Korean women was carried out by the Government-General in Korea, a machine of the Japanese imperialists for their colonial rule over it.
Their abduction operation baffled human imagination in its barbarous and vicious nature.
They openly abducted women the way reminiscent of the "slave hunting" in the Middle Ages.
After the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese and Pacific wars the Japanese imperialists abducted Korean women on a larger scale and took them away to vast areas of Asia. 200,000 Korean women were forcibly taken to China, India, Indonesia, Philippines and other areas occupied by the Japanese imperialists and the areas where the Japanese troops were stationed 146,000 of whom lost their lives in alien lands.
The Japanese imperialists' abduction issue should have been solved in the last century.
The Japanese reactionaries, however, have not made reparation for the above-said crimes even today though several years have passed in the new century. They are now totally denying and distorting the historical fact itself.
Japan is taking much pain to deny the coercive nature of the crimes perpetrated by government authority and military power.
It is the consistent assertion of the Japanese authorities that "there is no knowing about whether there was any forcible drafting by businessmen against the will of abductees but there was no forcible drafting by the Japanese army and officials."
Lurking behind this assertion is its aim to cover up its disgusting image as the world's worst abductor.
Japan is ill-famed for having committed many cases of abduction for a long period of time.
In the 20th century called the century of civilization the Japanese imperialists openly abducted and drafted not only women but more than 8.4 million young and middle-aged Korean men.
Japan is now persisting in its abduction operation against the DPRK.
Historical facts go to prove that Japan has always been an assailant against Koreans in the matter of abduction and the DPRK its victim.
What should not be overlooked is that the present Japanese rulers have again raised the "abduction" of a few Japanese which had already found a solution while keeping mum about the Japanese imperialists' abduction of Koreans in the 20th century.
Prime Minister Fukuda, when interviewed by CNN TV, asserted that the DPRK must settle the "abduction issue" if it wants financial aid from Japan and the Japanese foreign minister at a press conference claimed that it is the policy of the present Cabinet to solve the abduction issue in a substantial way. These are just a few examples.
The Japanese authorities' noisy row over the "abduction issue" is prompted by their foolish intention to cover up the abduction crimes committed by Japan for hundreds of years.
The present Japanese authorities are following in the footsteps of their preceding cabinet ill-famed for raising the "abduction issue" even after the regime change there. This proves that they are not willing to make any apology or reparation for the abduction crimes they committed against the Koreans.
There can never be any progress in the improvement of the DPRK-Japan relations as long as Japan stakes its fate on the "abduction issue."
Lurking behind the Japanese reactionaries' denial of the coercive nature of the crimes related to the "comfort women" and a hue and cry raised by them over the "abduction issue" is their black-hearted intention to paint the vicious assailant as a victim in a bid to cover up their crimes and evade their responsibility to redress them once and for all.
The sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army is a crime against humanity which can never be written off no matter how much water may flow under the bridge and how many generations are replaced by others.
The DPRK will never pardon the crimes committed by Japan against Koreans generation after generation but certainly force it to pay for those crimes.

U.S. Moves to Isolate and Stifle Iran Do Not Work

Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. moves to isolate and stifle Iran are going awry.
It is its invariable Middle East strategy to dominate the region rich in natural resources and geopolitically important.
Urged by this strategy, the U.S., after the end of the Cold War, switched over to a policy of "seeking interests through changes" from its traditional policy of "protecting its interests with stability" in the Middle East.
Noteworthy is it that the present U.S. administration, around the outbreak of the Iraqi war in 2003, put forward a "plan for Middle East democracy" supposed to establish what it called "democratic system" in the region by marshaling all means available including military force.
It is, in a nutshell, an infamous aggressive plan based on the doctrine of accomplishing a great order by a great disorder.
The highest hurdle in the way of the implementation of the U.S. plan is Iran which is increasing its influence in the region under the uplifted banner of independence against the U.S.
This is why the United States is branding it as a sponsor of terrorism and misrepresenting its peaceful nuclear activity as the development of nuclear weapons while resorting to despicable artifices to cut off its ties with other countries.
Iran is answering the U.S. moves to isolate and stifle it with a tough rebuff while engaging itself in active and energetic diplomatic activities.
Early in January it sent letters to the Persian Gulf countries, declaring that it was its consistent policy to strengthen overall cooperation with them.
It called for an emergency meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference for the settlement of the Palestinian issue. And it attended the summit of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf held in Qatar and channeled every effort to a solution to the regional problem, supporting the initiative of Arab countries for the settlement of the Lebanese issue.
Now the U.S. moves to isolate and stifle Iran are meeting with rebuff from the International community.
Its attempt to apply additional sanctions to Iran ended abortive at the United Nations Security Council recently.
Russia decided to deliver 82 tons of nuclear fuel to the Bushehr Atomic Power Plant in Iran and transported all of it in eight instalments by Jan. 28 this year.
The relations between Iran and other Arab states are on the improvement.
Some time ago the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf invited the Iranian president to its summit conference and Saudi Arabia invited him to a pilgrimage to Mecca. This was something without precedent.
Growing louder in the U.S. administration itself are voices calling for a change in its Iranian policy.
Facts prove that the U.S. policy to isolate and stifle Iran is facing a breakdown and its clamor for sanctions and pressure is anachronistic.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Implementing Oct. 4 Declaration

Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- Ordeals and difficulties still lie in the way of the movement for reunification owing to the anti-reunification moves of the separatists at home and abroad. But the Korean nation's cause of independent reunification has a rosy prospect and is sure to triumph as it is waging a dynamic struggle to implement the October 4 declaration under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
The Korean nation's cause of independent reunification, peace and prosperity is the cause advancing according to the just and correct action program.
The October 4 Declaration for Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity serves as the guidelines to be held fast to by the Koreans in the struggle for independent reunification, peace and prosperity. It reflects the ardent desire of the Koreans for the reunification of the country and the prosperity of the nation and clarifies specific ways to materialize them.
The above-said cause is advancing by dint of the growing patriotic enthusiasm and the might of unity of the driving force of the nation.
The cause of national reunification is sure to win only when all Koreans at home and abroad give fullest play to their burning enthusiasm and concerted efforts.
All Koreans from all walks of life at home and abroad are advancing full of confidence in firm unity based on patriotism, looking forward to the reunification of the nation and prospering future though they differ in ideology and ism. This is the true picture of the Korean nation in the era of independent reunification.
Thanks to the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, the great lodestar of national reunification, and the ardent patriotism of all Koreans out in the drive to implement the October 4 declaration the cause of independent reunification is certain to be accomplished before long despite manifold ordeals and vicious challenges.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Smashing Imperialists' Moves for Ideological and Cultural Poisoning

Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- It presents itself as an important issue in defending the cause of global independence and victoriously advancing it at present to shatter the imperialists' moves for ideological and cultural poisoning.
Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a by-lined article.
    It continues:
Checking the imperialists' moves for ideological and cultural poisoning is a basic guarantee for the advance and victory of the popular masses' cause of independence, the cause of socialism.
The imperialists are now becoming more crafty and vicious in their moves for ideological and cultural poisoning aimed at achieving their hegemonic purpose.
It is a trite method employed by the imperialists to invade and dominate other countries to spread bourgeois ideology and culture.
The imperialists are now perpetrating such act in a craftier manner under the signboard of "cooperation" and "exchange."
They are spreading the reactionary ideology and culture in an undisguised manner under all kinds of specious signboards such as "cooperation" and "exchange," availing themselves of the trend of the change and development of the times.
They are leaving no stone unturned to realize their ideological and cultural domination over other countries by infiltrating their reactionary bourgeois ideology and culture into them.
The historical experience and lesson prove that it is impossible to defend the popular masses' cause of independence, the cause of socialism, should a country allow the imperialists to infiltrate their ideology and culture into it without any vigilance against their poisoning.
It is necessary to strictly guard against the imperialists' ideological and cultural poisoning and decisively foil it in order to defend socialism and ensure its triumphant advance.

Speakers at the rally held that what should be liquidated from the earth is neo-liberalism which spawns capital polluting environment and poverty and drives people into pain.
The world free from poverty and discrimination can be built only when the people struggle and act as a driving force, they stressed.
At the end of the rally its participants staged a demonstration.
Similar rallies and demonstrations reportedly took place at the same time in at least 100 cities of 89 countries on the same day.
