Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to Janggang County
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the work in various fields of Janggang County.
The first leg of his guidance was the Janggang Mushroom Farm.
Going round the exterior and interior of the farm including a spore cultivation room and a mushroom growing house, he acquainted himself in detail with the construction of the farm and its production.
Being informed that the family members of Kim Yong Jong, manager of the farm, have worked heart and soul to increase the mushroom production on the same farm, he highly appreciated their patriotic deed, saying that such people working hard for the prosperity of the country are true patriots.
What is most important for cultivating mushroom is to establish a strict system for providing spores, he said, setting forth tasks to be fulfilled by the farm.
The next leg of his guidance was the Janggang Foodstuff Factory.
Going round the technologically updated production processes, he got familiar in detail with equipment and production there.
He called upon the officials and other working people in the field of the light industry to bring about a radical turn in its development through the dynamic light industrial revolution, bearing deep in mind the high honor and pride of working in the important domain to improve the standard of the people's living.
He gave field guidance to the Janggang Rabbit Breeding Stock Farm.
He went round the interior of the modernly built breeding stock farm and highly praised the feats of its employees.
He visited the family of Kim Chol Su, head of a work-team, who set an example in raising rabbits.
Saying that rabbit is a domestic animal ensuring high productivity, he stressed the need to raise rabbits in a big way to provide the people in the county with conditions for richer diet.
He commanded a bird's-eye view of Janggang township built as a socialist land of bliss.
He looked round a photo exhibition now under way in Jagang Province.
Seeing significant photos one by one, he recollected with deep emotion on the ten year-long history of hardships and the unforgettable officials and people of the province.
He said with profound emotion that the workers and other people in the province are loyalists who took the lead in pulling through difficulties sharing the idea, intention, breath and destiny with the Party when the country was in the most difficult situation and the precious revolutionary comrades who gave him courage with staunch fighting spirit and matchless valor.
No weapon can overpower the strength of the Korean people having such a great history as the "Arduous March," the forced march as a legacy, he said, expressing great expectation and conviction that the working people in the province would continue to successfully perform the role of vanguard in the gigantic struggle to build a great prosperous powerful nation.

U.S., Source of Worldwide Economic Instability
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- The world economy is slumping into a serious disorder.
The growing alarm over the economic depression in the United States has caused stock price slumps worldwide and called forth voices of unrest and concern about an economic crisis.
The main factor of this worldwide economic instability is generally traced to the sharp rise of the oil price and the crisis of housing market in the U.S.
But a close scrutiny reveals that the consequences of the reckless war policy and "anti-terrorism war" of the U.S. underlie it.
Entering upon the 21st century, the U.S. has provoked three wars including the Afghanistan war and the proxy war in Lebanon, prompted by its "anti-terrorism war" strategy for maintaining its position as "the only super power" in the world.
The Lebanese war ended with a woeful defeat of the U.S. and Israel and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, which had been started earlier, are sinking deeper into a hopeless bog.
The bankruptcy of the "anti-terrorism war" means the close of the "U.S. age". So the U.S. is hurling a greater amount of fund into these wars and trying to find a way out of the serious financial crisis in the growth of export by the devaluation of the dollar.
The U.S. administration has steadily cut the rate of interest by switching over from the dollar overvaluation policy to its devaluation policy over the last three years. The deficit recorded the lowest mark in the fiscal year of 2007 for recent five years.
Consequent upon this, the oil price in the world market broke the 100 dollar mark per barrel, far beyond its real value, in January this year. This posed a serious threat not only to the oil consumer states but also to the oil producer states.
The dollar devaluation policy of the U.S. administration to fend off the catastrophic effect of the "anti-terrorism war" on the domestic economy is the fundamental cause of the jumping oil price, which cannot be put on a par with the speculation on the oil market and "imbalance between demand and supply".
The crisis of housing market in the U.S. which was another fuse to the world economic instability finds its origin, in the final analysis, to the "anti-terrorism war".
The U.S. administration has drastically cut down the social expenditures such as to health care and housing while increasing military expenditures without limits under the cloak of "anti-terrorism". It advertised a fine-sounding policy of tax reduction supposed to help people rise up for themselves by tax cut. But it was none other than the rich who benefited by it. Under the present U.S. administration, the number of the poor has increased some five million and the gap between the poor and the rich has got the broadest in history.
The aggravation of the state in which the rich get richer and the poor get poorer resulting from the "anti-terrorism war" has inevitably touched off the crisis of real estate market and banking, while holding back economic growth by decreasing the expenses of the consumers, which is said to be the "motive power of the U.S. economy".
The crisis of the housing market is its concentric reflection.
It is foreseen that the losses in financial sectors caused by the slumping housing market will continue growing. Coupled with the sharp rise of oil and protracted dullness in the auto industry, the stagnation crisis of the overall U.S. economy further come to the surface.
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in its report made public on January 9 warned the U.S. of pursuing a policy of sharp and disorderly dollar devaluation, noting that the housing market crisis and depression in the U.S. further increase the danger of leading the world economy to stagnation.
Nevertheless, Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve System on Jan. 22 took one more measure of lowering the rate of interest to drive the world deeper into a commotion.
All the facts show that the politico-economic instability and mess in the world have been triggered off by the U.S. unlimited imperialistic rapacity.
The progressive people across the world will vigorously turn out in the struggle for smashing the aggressive "anti-terrorism war" of the U.S. imperialists, the common enemy.
Message of Greetings to Indian President
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Saturday sent a message of greetings to Pratibha Patil, President of India, on the occasion of the day of the Republic of India.
The message expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would steadily expand and develop in different fields in the mutual interests.

Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- A delegation of "INTER RAO UES" Co. Ltd. of Russia arrived here today.
During its visit the delegation is expected to discuss with the DPRK side the issue of cooperation in the field of power according to a protocol concluded at the fourth meeting of the Inter-governmental Committee for Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science and Technology.
Both sides will focus on discussing the issue of supply of electricity to Khasan-Rajin railways and Rajin Port.

Reception Given at DPRK Embassy in Beijing
Beijing, January 24 (KCNA) -- The DPRK embassy in Beijing gave a reception for officials of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Jan. 24 on the occasion of the New Year.
Choe Jin Su, DPRK ambassador to China, speaking at the reception, said that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties and two countries have favorably developed last year under the care of the top leaders of the two countries and thanks to the common efforts of both sides. Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- Indian Ambassador to the DPRK Zile Singh Saturday hosted a reception at the Taedonggang Club for the Diplomatic Corps on the Day of the Republic of India.

City Government of Ecuador Decides to Award Title of Honorary Citizen to Three Generals of Mt. Paektu

Poster Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- A poster exhibition was opened at the Pyongyang International Cultural Centre on Jan. 25 to thoroughly implement the militant tasks set forth in the joint New Year editorial.
Displayed in the venue of the exhibition are at least 60 posters produced by the Mansudae Art Studio, the Central Fine Art Studio, the Fine Art Studio of the Ministry of Railways and Pyongyang University of Fine Arts.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Vigorous Movement for National Reunification
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- All Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should conduct a vigorous movement for national reunification to bring earlier the dawn of reunification, holding aloft the banner of "By our nation itself".

The reality more urgently requires the Koreans to intensify the movement for national reunification by their concerted efforts as clarified in the Oct. 4 declaration.

Building of Peace Mechanism on Korean Peninsula Called for
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- A prerequisite to defusing tension and removing the danger of war on the Korean Peninsula is to replace the armistice agreement with a peace accord, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed article.
To build a new peace mechanism on the peninsula is prerequisite to easing tension and removing the danger of war on the peninsula because there is no justification for the present armistice agreement to exist any longer, the article notes, and goes on:
To ease the military tension and ensure peace on the peninsula is an urgent issue which brooks no further delay in view of the trend of the times and the requirement of the prevailing situation.
The Korean Peninsula is the only region in the world which has been in the state of truce and technically at war for more than five decades.
It is urgent to replace the armistice agreement with a peace accord because the armistice agreement exists in name only due to the U.S.
It would be no more than an armchair argument to talk about the observance of the armistice agreement that has been reduced to a dead document due to the U.S. perfidious act.
The replacement of the armistice agreement by a peace accord would help defuse the military confrontation on the peninsula and smoothly solve the issue of building confidence between the DPRK and the U.S.
There will be neither reason nor condition for the U.S. to refuse to opt for concluding a peace accord to replace the armistice agreement if it is truly willing to build confidence with the DPRK and co-exist with it in peace and stands for peace on the peninsula.
The earlier conclusion of the peace accord would help convert the acute belligerent relations between the DPRK and the U.S. to those of peace and confidence and ensure lasting peace and stability on the peninsula.
The U.S. should face up to the trend of history and the development of the situation and take a bold decision to replace the armistice agreement with a peace accord as early as possible.
Judgment of Acquittal of Media Man Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The People's Solidarity for Abolition of the "National Security Law (NSL)" of south Korea reportedly issued a statement on Jan. 23 denouncing the prosecution authorities for deciding to confiscate the works and photos made by photographer-writer Ri Si U seized by them after demanding 10 years in jail and 10 years of suspension of qualification for him on the charge of violation of the NSL on Jan. 10.
Accusing the security authorities of suppressing Ri on groundless charges of violation of the "provision calling for the protection of military secrets" in the NSL though he conducted legitimate academic activities aimed at exposing U.S. forces' bases for aggression, the statement noted that their action only revealed their ignorance.
The NSL is the main source of all the tragedies in which many figures of conscience are suppressed, the statement said, adding that such barbarous actions will never cease as long as there remains the evil law.
The statement held that the NSL should be abolished as early as possible and tragedies in which the freedom of expression, artistic activities, thinking and scientific pursuit is being suppressed by the evil law should not be allowed to go on, as required by the trend of the times when inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation are brisk and the overwhelming majority of the people are aspiring after peace and reunification after the adoption of the October 4 declaration.
Underscoring the need to sternly judge the anachronistic acts of the security authorities and set right the judicial justice on this land, the statement strongly demanded the judgment of acquittal of Ri Si U and return of the confiscated works and photos.
Move to Pass "Motion Calling for Ratification of FTA" Assailed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the All-People Movement for Checking South Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement in south Korea reportedly called a press conference in Seoul on Jan. 21 denouncing the move to pass the "motion calling for the ratification of the FTA" at the hNational Assembly".
A press release read out at the press conference referred to the fact that even the political circle and big businessmen of south Korea have recently called for the early handling of the above-said motion.
The NA should lend an ear to the voices of the people opposing the passage of the motion and the import of American beef, it said, warning that the lawmakers and political parties going against the people's mindset will certainly face a stern judgment.

Information Bulletin Issued by CILRECO
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- The International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea (CILRECO) issued an information bulletin on Jan. 17.
The bulletin dealt with the background against which the concrete wall was built in the area south of the Military Demarcation Line on the Korean Peninsula and its scale.
The bulletin said that the existence of the concrete wall, the leftover of the era of confrontation, is an anachronistic one as it runs counter to the efforts for reconciliation, cooperation and reunification between the north and the south of Korea and establishing durable peace on the peninsula.
It explained the just stand of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the nuclear issue on the peninsula.
The bulletin condemned the Japanese reactionaries for steadily intensifying the suppression of Koreans in Japan and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).
The committee calls on all democratic organizations and human rights bodies of the world to denounce the Japanese authorities' crackdown upon Chongryon and demand its immediate halt.
Kim Jong Il's Feats Praised
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The Korean Friendship Association Headquartered in Spain posted an article praising the undying feats of Kim Jong Il on its Internet homepage on the occasion of his birthday.
The homepage in an article said that when progressive humankind found itself in ideological confusion, vacillation and pessimism due to the collapse of socialism in East European countries at the end of the 20th century, it was Kim Jong Il who tided over the crisis of the world socialist cause.
It recalled that he published "The Historical Lesson in Building Socialism and the General Line of Our Party," "Socialism Is a Science" and other famous works one after another, clarifying the main cause of the collapse of socialism in various countries, the lesson drawn from it, the sure victory of socialism and the way to be followed by the movement for rebuilding socialism.

Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- The Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK released a statement on January 19 in support of the joint New Year editorial of the DPRK.

February 16 to Be Observed in Italy
Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- An Italian preparatory committee was inaugurated with due ceremony in Rome on Jan. 18 to celebrate February 16.
General Secretary of the Movement for Peace and Socialism of Italy Roberto Gabriele was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.
The preparatory committee decided to publish Kim Jong Il's famous work and organize various political events including seminar and briefing on his exploits on the occasion of the February holiday.

ATCC analiza la causa de inestabilidad de economia mundial
Pyongyang, 26 de enero (ATCC) -- La economia mundial va cayendo en el crisol de disturbio total.
En estos dias, la creciente incertidumbre por el estancamiento de negocios en Estados Unidos produce a escala mundial la caida en picada del valor de acciones y resuenan voces inquietas y preocupantes de una eventual crisis economica.
Es una opinion generalizada que el factor principal de esa inestabilidad de la economia mundial reside en la subida brusca del precio de petroleo y en la crisis desatada en el mercado de viviendas de EE.UU.
Pero, en el trasfondo de ella hay las secuelas negativas de la imprudente politica belicista de EE.UU. y de la "guerra antiterrorista" lanzada por este.
En el siglo 21, a tenor de la estrategia de "guerra antiterrorista" orientada a mantener su posicion de "unica superpotencia", EE.UU. desato 3 guerras desde la afgana hasta la de Libano que ejecuto a traves de sus titeres israelies.
Esta ultima contienda belica termino con la derrota de EE.UU. e Israel y el primero esta empantanandose cada vez mas en las anteriores guerras afgana e iraqui.
El fracaso de la "cruzada antiterrorista" significaria el fin de los "tiempos de EE.UU.".
Por esta razon, este imperio invierte fabulosos fondos en esas guerras estrategicas y trata de buscar la salida de la seria crisis financiera en el aumento de exportacion mediante la devaluacion del dolar.
La administracion norteamericana, que habia cambiado su politica del dolar fuerte por la del dolar debil, rebajo constantemente en los ultimos 3 anos la tasa de interes de esta moneda.
Por resultado, se incremento la exportacion de EE.UU. y su deficit presupuestario marco en el ano fiscal de 2007 una cifra mas baja que las registradas en el ultimo lustro.
A cambio, a principios de este ano el precio del petroleo en el mercado mundial supero 100 US$ por cada barril por encima de su valor real, lo cual resulta una seria amenaza no solo para los paises consumidores sino tambien para los productores.
La politica del dolar debil de la administracion norteamericana, con que ella trata de eliminar los efectos catastroficos de la "guerra antiterrorista" sobre la economia nacional, deviene el factor principal del alza del precio de petroleo, incomparablemente grave que los actos especulativos y el "desequilibro entre la demanda y la oferta" en el mercado del crudo.
La crisis del mercado de viviendas, otro detonante de la inestabilidad de la economia mundial, tambien tiene su genesis en la "guerra antiterrorista".
Bajo el pretexto de "luchar contra el terrorismo", la administracion norteamericana aumento en gran medida los gastos militares a cambio de la reduccion considerable de los egresos para las ramas sociales como la salud publica y la vivienda.
Aunque anuncio la edulcorada politica de reduccion de impuestos, segun la cual los habitantes pueden mejorar por si solos sus condiciones economicas, los beneficiarios reales de ella son unicamente las personas acaudaladas.
Durante el mandato de la actual administracion norteamericana, se registro un incremento de aproximadamente 5 millones en la cifra de los pobres y las diferencias entre estos y los ricos se agrandaron mas que nunca.
La exacerbacion de la situacion de "los ricos se hacen cada vez mas ricos y los pobres se tornan cada vez mas pobres", generada por esa "guerra", traera inevitablemente la reduccion de los egresos de los consumidores conocidos como "fuerza motriz de la economia estadounidense".
De esta manera, frena el crecimiento economico y busca una crisis en el mercado de bienes inmuebles y en los negocios bancarios.
Una muestra coherente de ello es la crisis del mercado de viviendas.
Se preve que iran en aumento las perdidas de la rama financiera a causa de esa recesion en el mercado de viviendas.
A esto se suman el alza del precio de petroleo y el estancamiento prolongado de la industria automovilistica, los cuales acentuan el aspecto paralizado de la economia estadounidense en su conjunto.
Al publicar un informe el pasado dia 9, la Conferencia de la ONU sobre el Comercio y el Desarrollo dio una senal de alarma a EE.UU. en cuanto a la brusca y desordenada politica del dolar debil argumentando que debido a esa crisis de viviendas y recesion economica, la economia mundial corre cada vez mayor peligro del estancamiento.
Sin embargo, la Reserva Federal de EE.UU. anuncio el dia 22 otra medida para rebajar la tasa de interes del dolar, que intranquiliza mas a todo el mundo.
Como muestran los hechos, la inestabilidad y disturbio economicos, que hoy sufre el mundo de modo sucesivo, se originan de la insaciable apetencia imperialista de EE.UU.
La humanidad progresista del mundo intensificara mas su lucha por frustrar esa agresiva "guerra antiterrorista" lanzada por el imperialismo norteamericano, enemigo comun.
Ecuador: titulos de ciudadano honorifico a 3 generales de Corea
Pyongyang, 26 de enero (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 17 en la ciudad de Atuntaqui de la provincia de Imbabura del Ecuador una reunion especial del gobierno de esta municipalidad para otorgar titulos de ciudadano honorifico a los 3 Generales del monte Paektu de Corea y la llave de la ciudad al Dirigente Kim Jong Il con motivo del Dia del Sol (15 de abril, cumpleanos del Presidente Kim Il Sung).
@Segun la resolucion aprobada en la ocasion, se confieren los titulos de ciudadania honoraria de Atuntaqui al Presidente, el Dirigente y la heroina de lucha antijaponesa Kim Jong Suk, y la llave de dicha urbe al segundo.
Entidad rusa apoya editorial conjunto de Corea
Pyongyang, 26 de enero (ATCC) -- La Asociacion Rusa de Amistad y Cooperacion Cultural con la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea hizo publica el dia 19 una declaracion en senal de apoyo al editorial conjunto de Ano Nuevo de Corea.
El documento senala que el editorial conjunto llama energicamente a todo el pueblo coreano a la lucha por hacer brillar este ano como ano de cambios historicos que se registre indeleble en los anales de la Patria al reforzar sin cesar el poderio politico y militar de la Corea del Songun (priorizacion militar) y lograr nuevo salto en la construccion socialista.
Destaca que el circulo social internacional apoyara en lo adelante tambien la posicion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea tendente a luchar activamente por la estabilidad de la Peninsula Coreana y la paz del mundo bajo la bandera de la independencia, la paz y la amistad y a desarrollar las relaciones de amistad y cooperacion con todos los paises que tratan amistosamente Corea.
Desea de todo corazon que en pleno acato a la politica de Songun del Dirigente Kim Jong Il el pueblo coreano logre mayores exitos en la construccion de una gran potencia prospera y haga brillar el presente como ano de relevantes victorias.
