Acrobatic Performance Given on New Year's Day
Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- An acrobatic performance of Pyongyang Circus was given on Tuesday on the occasion of the New Year Juche 97 (2008).
Appreciating the performance were senior Party, army and state officials, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and working people in Pyongyang.
Present there on invitation were the chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, overseas Koreans staying in the socialist homeland, diplomatic envoys of different countries, officials of foreign embassies here and other foreign guests.
Put on the stage were colorful numbers including physical acrobatics "Flying persons", "Balancing plastic etude", "Plank and trapeze", "Multi-way flying", magic "Stunt of juggler", comic acrobatics "Congratulations" and "Playing with puppets".
The performers made successful presentation of acrobatic motions with peculiar skill and graceful rhythm, pleasing the audience full of faith and optimism with the resolve to step up the worthwhile advance in the new year.
New Year Greetings to Kim Jong Il from Koreans in Japan
Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received congratulatory messages and letters from Korean residents in Japan on the occasion of the New Year Juche 97 (2008).
The messages and letters came from the organizations of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), including the Standing Council of the Korean Federation of Workers in Commerce in Japan, the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Youth League in Japan, the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Japan, the Central Standing Council of the Korean Youth Commercial Association in Japan and the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Korean Teachers and School Clerks in Japan, organizations under Chongryon, working organizations including the Choson Sinbo Company, the Korean News Service, the Hagu Bookshop, the Kumgang-san Opera Troupe, Tonghae Ltd., Kumgang Insurance Company, the Korean Goods Sales Company, the Committee for Promoting Korea-Japan Economic Exchange, the Federation of Joint Economic Venture of Korean Residents in Japan and the Korean Publishing House, local headquarters of Chongryon, Korean schools at all levels including Joson University and Koreans in Japan.
They recalled that last year the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan courageously smashed the Japanese reactionaries' persistent moves against Chongryon and Korean residents and glorified the 21st Congress of Chongryon as a congress of victors and unity while defending Chongryon and the national rights of Koreans in Japan with the imperishable determination and steadily conducting the patriotic movement.
They also noted that the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan are fully determined to make a tangible contribution to the work for ardently loving, defending and further glorifying their precious motherland and the building of a great, prosperous powerful nation by sharing the same pulsation with the people in the homeland who have turned out in the general advance to glorify the 60th anniversary of the DPRK as a grand festival of victors.
They expressed their resolve to make this significant year a year of leap forward in establishing and expanding the foundations for the patriotic movement of Chongryon in the new century, they stressed.
U.S. Criminal Smear Campaign against DPRK Disclosed
Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- The criminal smear propaganda campaign persistently conducted by the U.S. is a mean method it has constantly used to invade and topple other countries and put them under its control, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article.
The U.S. has long used broadcasting as a means for invading other countries and realizing its ambition to dominate the world, the article notes, and goes on:
The U.S. vicious psychological offensive to spread corrupt bourgeois ideology and culture and way of life in other countries and destabilize them has become all the more pronounced as the days go by.
The U.S. has frantically conducted psychological warfare against the DPRK. It started broadcasting in Korean language from early 1997 and spent two million U.S. dollars in fiscal year 1998 alone to increase the hours of broadcasting targeting the DPRK.
The U.S. smear broadcasting operation targeting the DPRK has reached extremity in its viciousness and meanness.
Shortly ago, the U.S. decided to increase the amount of funds for broadcasting service specializing in propaganda targeting the DPRK and the hours of broadcasting. As for the "Voice of Free Asia" it decided to add middle wave broadcasting to short wave one. The U.S. intensified smear broadcasting operation amid increased support for the "Voice of Free Asia" and VOA is part of its vicious moves to tarnish the image of the DPRK in the international arena and pull down the socialist system in the DPRK centred on the popular masses. In another development, the U.S. has craftily worked hard to introduce transistor radios, CDs of unsavory contents and other publications through various channels into the DPRK in a bid to cause ideological and political vacillation, disintegration and degeneration among the people in the DPRK and social disorder and sort of change there.
The U.S. is seriously mistaken, however. The people in the DPRK are stronger than anybody else in the working-class awareness and revolutionary spirit and are closely united in terms of ideology and will. The socialist system in the DPRK is firm politically and ideologically. No force can break the Korean people's faith in socialism and their single-minded unity and the Korean socialist system.

Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- The North American Committee against Zionism and Imperialism and the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy posted on their Internet homepages articles with portraits of Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk on the occasions of the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army and the 90th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk.
The homepage of the North American Committee in an article titled "Great defender of the nation" said that Kim Jong Il has reliably defended the destiny of the country by strengthening the People's Army into the invincible revolutionary armed forces with his Songun revolutionary leadership.
He has also trained all the officers and men of the People's Army into a-match-for-a hundred fighters firmly armed with the Juche-oriented war methods and modern military knowledge and possessed of distinguished marksmanship and physical strength, it noted.
The homepage of the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy in an article under the title " Comrade Kim Jong Suk enjoying immortality" introduced in detail the undying feats of Kim Jong Suk, woman commander of Mt. Paektu, praising her as the anti-Japanese war hero who glorified her whole life in devotedly defending the leader and the mother of revolution who gave birth to and brought up the great sun.
Removal of Concrete Wall Demanded by Indian Figure
Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- Suneet Chopra, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), joint secretary of the All India Agricultural Workers' Union and secretary general of the All India Indo-Korean Friendship Association, in a statement on Dec. 25 stressed that the concrete wall, a symbol of the division of the Korean Peninsula, should be dismantled without fail for the peaceful reunification of Korea.
The concrete wall is an obstacle to the work for development of the north-south relations and peace and prosperity and to the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula, the statement said, adding that the United States and the anti-reunification forces of south Korea should not obstruct the work for the development of north-south relations and peace and prosperity.
Important Days of DPRK Marked in Different Countries
Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held at Kim Jong Suk Kindergarten in Ulan Bator City and a company of Mongolia and in Sofia of Bulgaria and Warsaw of Poland from December 20 to 23 last year to commemorate the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army and the 90th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.
On display in the venues of the meetings were famous works of Kim Jong Il and photos showing his Songun revolutionary leadership exploits and pictures showing the revolutionary career and feats of Kim Jong Suk.
Present there were personages of the above-said kindergarten and company of Mongolia, the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society, the Federation of Peace and Friendship Organizations of Mongolia, the "Kim Il Sung Library" in Sofia, the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association and the Central Committee of the Poland-Korea Association and other people.
Present there on invitation were the ambassadors and staff members of the DPRK embassies in those countries.

Ch. Surenjav, chairman of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society, highly praised Kim Jong Suk as the great mother who set a distinguished example in devotedly defending the leader, saying that it is their pride and honor to have the kindergarten named after her in Mongolia.
The general director of the Mongolian company referred to its production activities with application of her name, saying that this reflects the will of the Mongolian people to glorify her exploits and learn from them.
Maria Nikiforova, secretary general of the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association, said that there are no such proud people in the world as the Korean people having the three generals of Mt. Paektu. Under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il the Korean army and people have frustrated the anti-DPRK moves of the U.S. and other imperialists in indomitable spirit, reliably defending the sovereignty and dignity of the country, she stressed.
Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings held in Mongolia.
Polish Preparatory Committee Formed
Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- The Polish preparatory committee for commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16 and the 60th birthday of the DPRK was inaugurated with due ceremony in Warsaw on Dec. 23 last year.
On display at the venue of the ceremony were famous works of Kim Jong Il and photos showing his Songun leadership feats, books and photos introducing Songun Korea.
Present there were members of the Central Committee of the Poland-Korea Association. Invited were the ambassador and staff members of the DPRK embassy in Warsaw.
Andrzej Kozlowski, chairman of the Central Committee of the association, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee at the ceremony.
Tadeusz Bialkowski, first vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the association, stressed the need to give wide publicity to the undying feats performed by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in the Korean revolution and the cause of global independence.
The preparatory committee decided to organize colorful functions, including meeting, lecture and film show, in different parts of Poland.

Pyongyang, 2 de enero (ATCC) -- En ocasion del Ano Nuevo 97 (2008) de la Era Juche, los cuadros del partido y el Estado, el presidente de partido amigo y los funcionarios directivos de los organismos del partido y el Poder, organizaciones sociales, ministerios y organos centrales rindieron el dia primero tributo al Presidente Kim Il Sung ante su estatua y cuerpo en el Palacio Memorial Kumsusan.
Flanqueaban la estatua del Presidente las banderas del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y los estandartes del Ejercito Popular de Corea
Estaban enfilados los soldados y la guardia de honor de las fuerzas terrestres, navales y aereas del EPC.
Mientras sonaba la "cancion del General Kim Il Sung", fue colocado un cesto de flores a nombre comun del Comite Central y la Comision Militar Central, del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, el Comite de Defensa Nacional, el Presidium de la Asamblea Popular Suprema y el Consejo de Ministros, de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
En la cinta del cesto se leia: "Sera inmortal el gran Lider, camarada Kim Il Sung".
El mismo dia, hicieron otro tanto los miembros directivos del EPC, ex-combatientes revolucionarios antijaponeses, funcionarios de ministerios y organos centrales, oficiales y soldados del EPC y trabajadores de distintos sectores.
Lo hicieron tambien el Cuerpo Diplomatico, el de Agregados Militares y representantes de organizaciones internacionales, acreditados en Corea.
Rodong Sinmun denuncia la demagogia de EE.UU.
Pyongyang, 2 de enero (ATCC) -- La cruenta demagogia de Estados Unidos deviene uno de los virulentos y rutinarios metodos que usa este pais en la agresion, derrocamiento y dominio de otros paises.
Asi revela el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 2 y continua:
Desde hace mucho tiempo, EE.UU. empleo la radio, que no tiene fronteras, como medio para agredir a otros paises y alcanzar su meta de dominar el mundo.
Se recrudece cada dia mas la sucia guerra psicologica de EE.UU. encaminada a desestabilizar y deformar desde adentro a otros paises al difundir en estos la corrupta ideologia, cultura y el modo de vida burgueses.
En particular, desde el comienzo de 1997, EE.UU. inicio la radio en coreano contra la RPDC y gasto 2 millones de US$ en el ano fiscal de 1998 para aumentar los programas de radiodifusion con rumbo a ella.
Esa intrigante operacion de radiodifusion contra Corea se torna hoy extremadamente vil y cruel.
Hace poco, EE.UU. decidio aumentar la ayuda financiera y el horario de transmision de las radioemisoras, que se dedican a la campana publicitaria contra la RPDC, inclusive la VOA y la "Radio de Asia Libre", que resolvio adicionar la radioemision a onda mediana aparte de la corta.
Esto forma parte de las siniestras maniobras de EE.UU. para mellar la imagen de la RPDC en la escena internacional y derrumbar el regimen socialista al estilo coreano centrado en las masas populares.
Ademas EE.UU. trata de introducir por varias vias en la RPDC los radios de bolsillo, videos de contenido malsano y otras publicaciones para traer la vacilacion ideo-politica, la descomposicion y la deformacion entre los habitantes coreanos y crear algun caos y cambios sociales.
Pero EE.UU. se equivoca. El pueblo coreano tiene una conciencia clasista y espiritu revolucionario mas fuertes que los de otros y esta unido monoliticamente en lo ideo-volitivo.
Nadie y nada podran destruir la unidad monolitica y la conviccion del pueblo coreano en el sistema socialista tan firme en sentido ideo-politico.
