Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, sent a congratulatory message to Boris Gryzlov upon his reelection as speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly.
The message wished him good health and greater success in his responsible work.
Chinese Ambassador Hosts Receptions
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, Tuesday hosted a reception at the embassy on the occasion of New Year, Juche 97 (2008).
Present there on invitation were officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea including Secretary Choe Thae Bok and Department Director Jang Song Thaek and officials concerned.
On hand were officials of the Chinese embassy.
Addressing the reception, the ambassador said that the Korean people have achieved signal successes in developing the economy and improving the standard of people's living and made progress in the north-south relations and the external relations under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il and the WPK.
We will strive to continuously promote the development of the relations between the two parties and the two countries in keeping with the agreement reached by the supreme leaders of China and the DPRK and the common desire of the two peoples, he stated.
Choe Thae Bok in his speech referred to the fact that the Chinese people have made great achievements in building a harmonious socialist society based on the principle of people first and governance for the people and the scientific outlook on development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with Hu Jintao as its General Secretary this year.
He expressed belief that the traditional DPRK-China friendship would further develop by the joint efforts.

Diamond Jubilee of Korea National Insurance Corporation Marked
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- The Korea National Insurance Corporation celebrated its 60th founding anniversary.
Over the past six decades since its foundation in Juche 36 (1947) the corporation has widely organized various kinds of insurance suited to the actual conditions of the country, contributing to putting the production and management of industrial establishments and cooperatives on a normal basis, protecting people's property, expanding the field of insurance and consolidating the socialist insurance system.

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Dancing-parties of youth and students took place across the country on Monday to commemorate the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army and the 90th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.

Art performances and presentations of songs took place at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon City and other factories, enterprises and farms across the country.
More than 20,000 working people and members of the women's union in South Hamgyong Province had sports and folk games, a contest in peasants' dances and other colorful events at Hamhung Square.
Kim Jong Suk's Exploits in Building Party and State
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Anti-Japanese woman hero Kim Jong Suk was the most faithful soldier of President Kim Il Sung. She laid a foundation for the implementation of the President's line of building the Party and the state.
Everywhere she went, she saw to it that the work of the party organizations was carried out according to the revolutionary idea of the President in the days of the building of a new country when democracy and reaction were standing face to face in sharp antagonism.

Kim Jong Suk's Immortal Service for Army Building
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Anti-Japanese woman hero Kim Jong Suk had keenly experienced from the first days of her revolutionary activities the truth of the revolution that the country and the revolution could be defended only by force of arms, and done her best to bring the line of army-building put forward by President Kim Il Sung into practice.
After the national liberation, she assisted the President in the efforts to build a regular army and gave important instructions to officials in this regard on over 420 occasions.
She visited the Pyongyang Institute, a base for training military and political cadres, more than 30 times to emphasize that efforts should be exerted to the education of the students in the loyalty to the President. And she also frequented to Central Security Officers School where she amended its teaching program so as to arm the students with the military ideas of the President and tactics suitable to the actual conditions of Korea.
She made deep attention to the training of commanding officers of all services in the building of the regular army.
One day in June of Juche 35 (1946) she instructed officials of the Pyongyang Institute to construct an airfield with its own efforts and went out to the construction site to give a helping hand to the students and inspire them to complete the project at an early date.
And one day in November 1947 she informed the director of Marine Security Officers School of the President's instructions on rearing naval officers by itself and asked leading officials of a relevant province to render a positive helping hand to the work for setting up the school.
In those years she was also busy with efforts to guide the logistic work for the building of a regular army.
She found herself among manufacturers of military uniforms and led them to produce the trial uniforms and accoutrements as early as possible.
Thanks to her energetic effort, the designs of uniforms of the Korean People's Army were fixed in March 1947.
When the first mechanized unit of the regular army was being organized, she made uniforms of commanding officers of a tank unit by herself and called on the unit frequently and paid attention to training tank drivers within three months, breaking the existing formula.
The immortal exploits performed by her in the work to strengthen the armed forces of the DPRK as an invincible country will shine long in the Songun revolutionary history.
New Stamps on "Arirang" Issued
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- The DPRK has newly brought out postage stamps (2 kinds of sheetlet) reflecting the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang".
Printed in the upper part of the sheetlets are the May Day Stadium, the venue of the performance, and the registration mark of the Guinness World Records.
The sheetlets compile postage stamps showing in unique way scenes of the Prelude "Arirang", Chapter 1 "Arirang Nation", Chapter 2 "Songun Arirang", Chapter 3 "Arirang of Happiness", Chapter 4 "Arirang of National Reunification" and Finale "Arirang of Prosperous and Powerful Nation".
In last August "Arirang" was registered in the Guinness World Records as the largest gymnastic and artistic performance in the world.
Revolutionary Exploits of Kim Jong Suk Praised
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- The revolutionary exploits performed by anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk will always be remembered by the servicepersons and people of the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in an editorial dedicated to her 90th birth anniversary.

U.S. Bellicose Forces' Scenario for Preemptive Attack on DPRK Flayed
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Recently the U.S. bellicose forces staged reckless aerial war exercises in a coordinated operation with the U.S. Seventh Air Force present in south Korea while deploying overseas-based F/A-18 and KC-130 and other flying corps in south Korea by turns. The purpose of the exercise was to strike ground targets, provide close air support, fight air battles and make intensive strikes by formations of planes.
Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Tuesday terms this saber rattling part of the war moves of the U.S. bellicose forces to stifle the DPRK through surprise attacks.
The madcap drills being staged by them to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK behind the scene of dialogue as part of their preparations for a second Korean war only cast a doubt as to whether the U.S. is willing for dialogue or not, the commentary notes, and goes on:
The dialogue advertised by the U.S. while seeking confrontation is, in fact, nothing but a military option to disarm its dialogue partner mentally and mount a surprise preemptive attack on it.
It is the intention of the U.S. conservative hard-liners to pressurize the present U.S. administration to call off dialogue with the DPRK and strain the situation in a bid to make it complicated.
No one can predict what shocking cases the U.S. bellicose forces will fake up to scuttle the negotiations between the DPRK and the U.S. while busying themselves with war exercises and moves to modernize their armed forces in the future. Their stand is to screw up the military confrontation and ignite a war. This is clearly evidenced by the fact that the U.S. forces are pushing forward such dangerous plan for modernizing their armed forces as the so-called "future combat system" targeted against the DPRK and staging interceptor missile tests one after another.
Now that the U.S. conservative hard-liners are contemplating a reckless preemptive attack on the DPRK, its army and people are making preparations to resolutely counter it. It is the invariable stand and will of the DPRK to respond to dialogue with dialogue and counter force with force.
Japan's Moves to Build up Missile Shield under Fire in S. Korea
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and the Citizen's Solidarity for Pacifist Constitution in south Korea reportedly made public a joint statement on Dec. 19 denouncing Japan's moves to speed up the building of its missile shield.
Recalling that some time ago, a MSDF destroyer shot down a ballistic missile with SM-3 in a test conducted off Hawaii backed by the U.S. Naval Force, the first of its kind, the joint statement said:
Japan is contemplating deploying Aegis ships loaded with SM-3s in surrounding waters of the East Sea of Korea in the future and revising the "guidelines for the use of the missile shield" so that its government may issue an order to intercept missiles at the phase in which "north Korea gets ready to fire missiles."
This proves that the real intention of Japan's buildup of missile shield is to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK.
The above-said moves of Japan are intolerable as they diametrically run counter to the moves for establishing a peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean Peninsula, spark an arms race in the surrounding areas and violate its "pacifist constitution" banning the exercise of "the right to collective self-defense."
The joint statement strongly demanded Japan stop at once the moves to build up the missile shield quite contrary to the peace in Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula.
DPRK's Important Days Marked in Different Countries
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Events were held in Russia and Cuba between Dec. 19 and 21 to commemorate the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army and the 90th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk. In Russia a meeting took place under the sponsorship of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK. In Cuba a meeting was held at the Kim Il Sung Economic Special School and a photo exhibition and a film show at Chollima Middle School in Old Havana District,.
On display in the venue of the photo exhibition were photos showing the revolutionary history and immortal exploits of the three generals of Mt. Paektu and photos introducing Songun Korea. And the Korean film "The 75th Anniversary of the Heroic Korean People's Army" was appreciated at the film show.
Kramarenko, vice-chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, said at the meeting that Kim Jong Il's assumption of the KPA supreme commandership on Dec. 24, 1991, was an event of weighty significance in socialist construction and powerful defence upbuilding in Korea. The revolutionary cause pioneered by President Kim Il Sung will be successfully realized as the Korean army and people are united single-mindedly around Kim Jong Il, he stressed.
Zhukova, executive manager of the Korean Koryo Medicine Center in Moscow, praised the noble revolutionary career of Kim Jong Suk, woman commander of Mt. Paektu who devotedly defended the headquarters of revolution and gave birth to and brought up Kim Jong Il as brilliant future of Korea, saying that she is a great woman revolutionary who devoted her all to the country and people.
Vorontsov, chief of the Section for Korea of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that Kim Jong Il's Songun politics has enervated the U.S. offensive for stifling the DPRK while opening up a bright vista for the Korean people building a great prosperous powerful nation.
Juan Jose Leon Vega, chairman of the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, in his speech at the meeting praised the undying feats performed by the three generals of Mt. Paektu in the sacred cause for the liberation of the country and freedom and happiness of the people.

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Edmond Jouve, director-general of the European Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, released a statement on December 17 on the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.

Pyongyang, 25 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 16o aniversario del nombramiento del Dirigente Kim Jong Il como Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea y del 90o aniversario del nacimiento de la heroina de lucha antijaponesa Kim Jong Suk, los miembros del Cuerpo de Agregados Militares en Corea presenciaron el dia 24 una funcion acrobatica conjunta en el Circo del EPC.
En la escena se pusieron diversas piezas, entre otras, la acrobacia corporal "Burlando la cuerda con bicicleta", la aerea "Habilidad con la goma elastica", la folclorica "Salto sobre el balancin" y el entreacto acrobatico "Jefe de hinchas".
La funcion arranco efusivos aplausos de los espectadores por su alto valor ideo-artistico.
Ofrecido drama revolucionario "La camarada del monte Paektu"
Pyongyang, 25 de diciembre (ATCC) -- En ocasion del 90o aniversario del natalicio de la heroina de lucha antijaponesa Kim Jong Suk, se ofrecio este lunes en el Teatro Nacional de Drama la funcion del drama revolucionario "La camarada del monte Paektu".
En esta pieza teatral los artistas del Conjunto Dramatico Nacional describieron en escenas impresionantes la imborrable imagen de Kim Jong Suk quien en los dias de la lucha armada antijaponesa en que el Presidente Kim Il Sung dirigia a la victoria la operacion de maniobra circular con grandes destacamentos en el nordeste del monte Paektu, defendio en lo ideo-politico y a costa de la vida a la Comandancia de la Revolucion y condujo a todos a la senda de la revolucion.
Los episodios de la heroica lucha de Kim Jong Suk, en que ella defiende la idea y la linea del Presidente combatiendo de frente a frente contra un traidor a la revolucion y protege al comandante (Presidente Kim Il Sung) cubriendole con su cuerpo en momentos criticos, ponen de relieve la noble imagen de esta generala del monte Paektu conocida como personificacion de la defensa a ultranza al lider.
Disfrutaron la funcion los cuadros del partido, el ejercito y el Estado, el presidente de partido amigo, los funcionarios de los organismos de las fuerzas armadas, entidades de masas, ministerios y organos centrales, oficiales y soldados del Ejercito Popular de Corea, innovadores laborales y trabajadores capitalinos.
