Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit
Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 1315.
Walking round the monument to the on-the-spot guidance given by President Kim Il Sung, he was briefed on the history of the unit. He highly appreciated the great successes made by the servicepersons of the unit in the past through a dynamic drive to implement the on-the-spot instructions given by the President.
He learned about the unit's performance of duty before watching its servicepersons in training.
He set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines for further intensifying the combat training, a basic guarantee for increasing its combat capability.
He acquainted himself with the political work conducted among the servicepersons, going round a political lecture room, an educational room and other cultural and educational facilities.
He praised the unit for having trained all its servicepersons as fighters of Ri Su Bok and Kang Ho Yong types in the era of Songun possessed of ardent patriotism by dynamically conducting the political work to suit their characteristic features.
Informed that the beautiful trait of the unity between the army and the people is being fully displayed at the unit, he underscored the need to take a lot of pictures of soldiers and people helping and leading each other forward to make these fine traits known.
He took deep care of the living of soldiers, making the rounds of a bedroom, a mess hall, a wash-cum-bath house, a kimchi store, a non-staple food store, a barn and other supply service facilities.
He was greatly satisfied to learn that the unit has provided its soldiers with rich diet by successfully doing sideline farming and stock breeding and other sideline job. This signal success is the fruition of the tenacious efforts made by the commanding officers and men of the unit in firm unity, he added.
He gave the servicepersons of the unit a pair of binoculars, a machine gun and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them.

Establishment of Great Tradition of Devotedly Defending Leader
Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The Korean people extol anti-Japanese woman hero Kim Jong Suk as a legendary general of lifeguard.
This designation implies her great feat in the establishment of the glorious tradition of defending the leader of the revolution at the cost of life, which is the pride and legacy of the Korean revolution.
She participated in the sacred war against Japanese imperialism in her early age. Whole Life of Kim Jong Suk Devoted to Comrades and Revolution
Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are recollecting with deep emotion the noble life of the anti- Japanese woman hero Kim Jong Suk with the approach of the 90th birth anniversary of the woman general of Mt. Paektu whose life was run through with revolutionary comradeship.
Her philosophy of life was that it was happy to have other's affection, but still happier was to give it to others.
She had rare character and human touch. She intensely loved people and was ready to jump into water and fire, if it was for comrades.
Cherishing it as her steadfast faith that her happiness and honor lay in devotedly defending President Kim Il Sung, she became a shield in guarding him in many battles such as the Fusong County Seat battle and the battle at the entrance to Dashahe.
Deeply concerned for the health of the President, she, shivering with cold in winter, dried his wet clothes with the warmth of her body. And she secured silk cotton and made a padded overcoat and knitted a waistband and woolen socks for him at odd moments.
In his reminiscences "With the Century" he recollects that she protected him from bullets, snow and rain, and chill with her own body.
In the days of an arduous march, she mended torn clothes of comrades all night beside a campfire. When a battle was raging in Shuangshanzi in April Juche 27 (1938), she shared out food to the fighters by plunging into the battlefield after climbing a steep cliff, not to let them skip the meal.
When comrades-in arms had to eat potatoes only for several days, with rice running out in the unit, she, taking it close to heart, ground potatoes and made pancakes with them and made potato cakes, stuffing them with edible herbs which she had collected. All the fighters ate them deliciously.
Everything she did in the flames of the anti-Japanese struggle was not for herself, but for the President and for the comrades and the revolution.
Birth Anniversary of Kim Jong Suk Commemorated by Peasants
Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- A meeting of agricultural workers and members of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea took place on December 20 to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.
At the meeting, Hong Jong Chol, vice-chairman of the Union Central Committee, said that all the agricultural workers and the members of the union should model after Kim Jong Suk, woman commander of Mt. Paektu, to faithfully uphold the idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il and work heart and soul to accomplish the cause of Songun revolution of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- A meeting of youth and students took place at the Central Youth Hall on December 20 to celebrate the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.
Ri Myong Won, secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, made a report which was followed by speeches.

Visa Free Agreement Signed between DPRK and Belarus
Moscow, December 19 (KCNA) -- An agreement on exempting visa for diplomatic and official passport bearers between the governments of the DPRK and Belarus was signed in Moscow on December 19.
Present at the signing ceremony from the DPRK side were Kim Yong Jae, DPRK ambassador to Russia, and staff members of the embassy and from the Belarusian side Vasili Dolgolev, Belorusian ambassador to Russia, and staff members of the embassy.
The agreement was inked by Kim Yong Jae and Dolgolev.
Writings by Foreign Students in DPRK Presented

Centenarians Increase in DPRK
Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Centenarians are increasing in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
This year alone, eight people greeted their 100th birthdays.
Among them there are Kim Pu Yong residing in Tongmyong-dong, Rason City, Choe Kil Bok in Jangbaek-dong, Munchon City, Kangwon Province, and Yo Sam Son in Kumhak-ri, Chongdan County, South Hwanghae Province, all women.
The centenarians are living an optimistic life, not letting their hands be idle after they were listed as pensioners.
They do not have an unbalanced diet. They like edible herbs, soy bean, vegetables, sea-foods, kimchi and bean paste soup.
Grandma Choe Pu Yong residing in Samsong-ri, Samsok District, Pyongyang greeted her 110th birthday this year.
There are dozens of other centenarians.

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Ahmad Hassan, general secretary of the Nasser Arab Democratic Party of Egypt, issued a statement on December 16 on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army and the 90th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.
He in the statement said that Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as supreme commander of the KPA on December 24, 1991 was a historic event of great significance in developing the KPA into an invincible army.

Songun Idea, Songun Politics Studied and Disseminated Worldwide

El nombramiento del General Kim Jong Il en el cargo cimero de las fuerzas armadas revolucionarias resulta una gran fortuna de la nacion de Kim Il Sung y un evento historico de gran importancia para defender y llevar a feliz termino la causa del socialismo al estilo coreano, subrayaron los oradores.
Prosiguieron que bajo la guia del Comandante Supremo, el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea pudieron acoger la nueva era de la gloriosa revolucion del Songun dando firme continuidad a las tradiciones de las fuerzas armadas del monte Paektu.
Indicaron que en las huellas de direccion del General mediante el Songun estan grabados el gran amor y confianza de el quien practico la politica de dar importancia a la juventud al igual que a las fuerzas armadas.
Exhortaron a todos los jovenes a consolidar el poderio defensivo del pais y abrir la brecha en los frentes importantes de la construccion de una potencia economica.
En el conclave fue recitada la poesia congratulatoria "Gloria al General Insigne del Songun Kim Jong Il nacido en el Paektu".
