Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- The head of the DPRK delegation, addressing the 25th general assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on November 20, called for ensuring the maritime security and protecting the sea environment.
He recalled that the IMO adopted new favorable conventions and regulations and amended the existing ones in the field of overall maritime work including maritime security and protection of sea environment and has taken proper measures to implement them, thus consistently pursuing its goal to ensure safe navigation in clean oceans and boost its efficiency.
The DPRK has conducted multi-faceted activities for the development of the country's maritime work under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il, he said, and continued:
The unilateral and coercive sanctions and blockade put by specified countries on the DPRK in a bid to achieve their political goals have seriously hamstrung its efforts to fully meet the requirements of the conventions of the IMO. These practices should be categorically rejected.
It is important to coordinate the activities among the member states of the IMO for ensuring safe navigation and increase its efficiency and protecting the sea environment and boost the technical cooperation of the organization in this field.
He underscored the need for the IMO to more energetically push forward the technical cooperation with developing countries in order to help them respond to the new technological changes and successfully deal with the maritime issues.

S. Koreans Called upon to Eliminate Ri Hoe Chang

Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- The south Koreans should decisively eliminate such traitor to the nation and confrontation and war maniac as Ri Hoe Chang so that he may not raise his head again.
A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said this in a statement issued Saturday.
The statement continued: Shortly ago, Ri let loose a spate of vituperation, asserting that "the north should be forced to dismantle its nukes" and "it is necessary to make a switchover in the south-north relations and south Korea's policy towards the north." He went the lengths of foolishly taking issue with even the dignified system in the DPRK.
This only brought into bolder relief his true colors as a wicked anti-reunification traitor and anti-DPRK confrontational maniac dead-set against the improved inter-Korean relations, peace on the Korean Peninsula and prosperity common to the nation and reunification.
He is so wicked a traitor and charlatan that he does not bother to speak ill of not only others but of his own clan to gratify his dirty political ambition.
What he uttered can never be tolerated as it is a product of his criminal intention to bar the present north-south relations from making progress at any cost and stem the trend of the national history in a bid to bring back the past era of confrontation. He has gone so mad with north-south confrontation that he made no scruple of ballyhooing about even the "theory of war."
The reality once again clearly proves that his nature as a pro-U.S. ultra-right conservative without an equal and a vicious advocate of showdown with the DPRK can never change.
If such guy is allowed to come to power it is as clear as noonday that south Korea will witness again the dark era of fascism and the divided Korean nation will suffer a disaster of another war.

Panmunjom Tells Leader's Reunification Will

Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected Panmunjom on Nov. 24, 1996.
The Korean people take this opportunity to look back with deep emotion on the immortal feats performed by him opening the turning phase for national reunification with his energetic guidance.
The Korean people underwent the worst economic difficulty due to the moves of the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces to isolate and stifle the DPRK and continued natural disasters in the middle of 1990s.
Then Kim Jong Il inspected Panmunjom with the revolutionary will to surely win victory in the showdown with the United States so as to defend the dignity of the country and to carry out the last instructions of President Kim Il Sung for national reunification without fail.
In front of President Kim Il Sung's autographed dedication to the stone monument erected in Panmunjom, Kim Jong Il incorporated the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country and the proposal for founding a Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo advanced by the President into the three pillars, the three charters for the country's reunification.
He clarified that there could not be change in the stand of the Workers' Party of Korea to realize the cause of national reunification in an independent and peaceful way.
The iron will he hardened in Panmunjom gave rise to the enthusiasm for reunification in Korea.
Since the historic north-south summit and the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration in Juche 89 (2000), many eye-opening events have taken place in Korea.
Sixtythree unconverted long-term prisoners who had been true to their revolutionary principles came to the north through Panmunjom in September 2000 and a ceremony for starting the construction of the Kaesong industrial zone was held in June 2003 as a symbol of the north-south economic collaboration.
Conversation and contact, cooperation and exchange between the north and the south have been held in various fields of politics, economy and culture and the solidarity and unity between pro-reunification organizations become more brisk.
The historic north-south summit in Pyongyang and the publication of the "Declaration for Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity" early in Octerber this year were also provided by the iron will of Kim Jong Il to achieve sacred cause of reunification with the concerted efforts of the nation and to build a rich and powerful country.

Mt. Paektu Area Facelifted

Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- The area around Mt. Paektu has been put on a new look.
A historic ground-breaking ceremony for the construction projects of the Mt. Paektu area was held on November 24, Juche 89 (2000).
The entire people turned out as one in the construction of the sacred land with the revolutionary spirit of Paektu but the projects were not smooth.
From the beginning of the new century, aggression and war against sovereign states were incessant in the international arena and the DPRK-U.S. nuclear confrontation aggravated tension in Korea.
The temperature around 40 degrees below zero and blizzard in the area made the construction more difficult.
But the constructors completed within seven days the waterway project that would take several years in ordinary times. They wrought many similar miracles to turn the Mt. Paektu area into a socialist fairyland.
They chiseled the frozen ground to build a road and the 1,570 meter-long stone steps from the top of Mt. Paektu to Lake Chon. And they paved the road leading to the top of Mt. Paektu with more than 437,500 trimmed stones.
Only in recent years they built over 1,400 housing blocks for over 5,000 families and constructed or repaired on an expansion basis hundreds of cultural and public buildings with a total floor space of more than 255,700 square meters. They also built power stations to create lots of generating capacity and planted millions of trees to add beauty to the Mt. Paektu area.
In those years the Korean people have trained themselves as stalwarts who will protect the leader at the cost of their lives and firmly carry forward the traditions of the Juche-based revolution.
The construction fully demonstrates the unshakable faith and will of the Korean people to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche.

Peace-Keeping Mechanism on Korean Peninsula Called for

Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- To defuse the military tensions and ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula is an urgent issue the solution of which brooks no further delay in view of the trend of the times and the requirements of the prevailing situation, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article.
It is necessary to remove the factors of wrecking peace in order to ensure peace on the peninsula, the article notes, and goes on:
It is chiefly attributable to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK that the peninsula has not yet been freed from the state of war though more than half a century has passed since the ceasefire. The U.S. much touted "threat to security" from the DPRK is nothing but a far-fetched assertion intended to slander the DPRK's independent foreign policy and steps for increasing its self-reliant national defence capacity and a ruse to justify the moves for aggression against the DPRK. It is the intention of the U.S. to destabilize and destroy the socialist system in the DPRK and thus eliminate socialism from the earth.
There can be neither the improved DPRK-U.S. relations nor a durable peace on the Korean Peninsula unless the U.S. rolls back its hostile policy toward the DPRK.
It is one of the fundamental conditions for peace on the peninsula to replace the armistice agreement by a peace agreement. When this happens, it will make it possible to remove the military confrontation on the peninsula and automatically help build confidence between the two countries. The U.S. stand and attitude toward the issue of replacing the armistice agreement by a peace agreement would, therefore, serve as a yardstick showing whether it wants peace on the peninsula or seeks a war.
It is necessary to terminate the hostile relations between the two countries and promote confidence. This is urgently required not only for ensuring peace on the peninsula but for normalizing the bilateral relations and improving the U.S. image.
It is one of the important conditions for ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula for the U.S. to stop its moves for turning Japan and south Korea into its military bases and withdraw its aggression forces from the peninsula and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region.

Rodong Sinmun on Leadership of Working Class Party over Intellectuals

Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- Intellectuals can creditably perform their role in the revolution and construction and enjoy a worthwhile life as part of the independent driving force for revolution only under the leadership of the working class party, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed article.
It is necessary for the working class party to educate the intellectuals and lead them to a right path in order to help them invariably keep to the path of revolution, the article says, and goes on:
They can remain true to the party and the revolution free from degeneration only when a vigorous work is undertaken to arm them with the working class revolutionary outlook on the world. To this end, it is necessary to steadily push forward the work to revolutionize and working-classize the intellectuals.
Intellectuals should have their homeland and faith, although science and technology do not know boundary. The faith to be cherished by revolutionary intellectuals means an iron will to dedicate their knowledge, technology, wisdom and talents to the people's cause of independence and the cause of socialism despite whatever difficulties and a do-or-die spirit to share their destinies with the party, the leader and socialism to the end no matter what trial they may face and no matter how the situation may change.
The fate of socialism precisely means that of intellectuals. As proven by what happened in the former socialist countries, the intellectuals who abandoned the working class party and socialism could not escape a miserable position no better than orphans as they were subject to humiliation, maltreatment and a tragic lot only.
The intellectuals in the DPRK have become genuine revolutionary comrades who share their destinies with their leader and formed a harmonious whole with him as they also share idea and intention with him with unshakable faith under whatever difficult situation. They are dynamically advancing along the glorious path of building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, highly proud of playing an important role in the Songun revolution.

Noting that the cause of independent reunification is sure to be accomplished as it is advancing, guided by the idea of "By our nation itself," the statement declared that the organization would always take the lead in this struggle.

Demonstration for Repeal of NSL Goes on in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- A demonstration demanding the repeal of the "National Security Law" was reportedly staged near the building of the "National Assembly" in Seoul under the sponsorship of the People's Solidarity for Abolition of the NSL on Tuesday.
The demonstration was a continuation of the actions staged by the above-said organization every day since it declared a massive action for the repeal of the evil law on Nov. 5.
Members of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification also took part in this demonstration.
They declared that they would carry on their demonstration till the last session of the 17th-term NA is over, noting that the repeal of the evil law is urgently required even this moment.

All-out Campaign against Ri Hoe Chang Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration reportedly issued a statement on November 20 calling for an all-out struggle against Ri Hoe Chang.
Calling on the entire progressive camp to roundly disclose the irregularities and corruption committed by traitor Ri Hoe Chang including the cases of "Pyongphung," "Sephung," "Chongphung" and "Anphung," the statement underscored the need to form an all-people front of the struggle against Ri Hoe Chang.
The key to frustrating Ri Hoe Chang's attempt to seize power is to form the all-people front of the struggle against irregularities and conservatism, the statement noted, and went on:
Let people from all walks of life wage a dynamic struggle under the slogan "No Ri Hoe Chang, kingpin of irregularities and corruption, running for the presidential elections!" Ri is not qualified to run for the "presidential elections."
If he is allowed to come to power, he will create difficulties in the way of the favorably developing inter-Korean relations and bring the past era of dictatorship back to this land.
Let us bring about the victory of the democratic forces in the "presidential elections" through the campaign against Ri Hoe Chang.

The work, published on August 4, Juche 86 (1997), clarifies the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung for the cause of national reunification, formulates the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo as the three charters for national reunification and indicates tasks for accomplishing the cause of national reunification on their basis and ways to do so.

Ri Hoe Chang's Ambition to Seize Power Blasted by Koreans' Organization in China

Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- The Federation of Korean National Economic Workers in China released a statement on November 20 denouncing traitor Ri Hoe Chang for his desperate efforts to seize power.
The statement accused Ri Hoe Chang, a politician whose days are numbered, of declaring his candidacy for the "presidential elections" recently though he was forsaken by the times and the nation for being dregs of history and working with bloodshot eyes to win people's favor.
Branding Ri as a die-hard anti-reunification element, political charlatan and kingpin of irregularities and corruption, the statement assailed him for letting loose a spate of vituperation, blustering in his declaration on running for the elections that he would "radically reshape the policy toward the north" and it was inevitable for him to run for the elections in order to make up for the " decade wasted".
Denouncing Ri for such criminal acts against the nation and reunification as negating the June 15 joint declaration and trying to push the inter-Korean relations to the phase of confrontation, the statement called on all Koreans in the north and the south and overseas to unite as one to more vigorously wage the just struggle to completely eliminate him from the arena of history as he is keen to bring again the scourge of a Cold War to the Korean Peninsula.

Elimination of Ri Hoe Chang Called for by Koreans in China

Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- The General Association of Koreans in China Wednesday issued a statement titled "Let's decisively eliminate Ri Hoe Chang, a heinous sycophantic traitor and anti-reunification element, in the name of nation."
The statement accused Ri, a political imposter in south Korea, of going mad with his ambition to become "president" these days, noting that he is a wicked sycophantic traitor, an anti-reunification element and a kingpin of irregularities and corruption.
The traitor at a press conference slandered pro-reform forces, ballyhooing about "a decade wasted," and not content with this, he not only blustered that "he would radically reshape the policy toward the north" but also openly revealed his sinister attempt to bar the inter-Korean relations from improving, the statement said, and continued:
This guy, who is no more than human scum, was forsaken by the times and the public and eliminated from the political arena for his despicable sycophantic and traitorous and anti-reunification acts and irregularities and corruption. His bid to take "presidential office" is, therefore, an intolerable insult to the south Korean people and an unpardonable mockery of justice and conscience.
The south Korean people from all walks of life desirous of the June 15 era should properly see through the danger of the present situation and mete out a stern judgement to such dregs of history as Ri Hoe Chang and decisively eliminate him so that he may not raise his head again.

CRPP llama a liquidar a Ri Hoe Chang
