Kim Jong Il Inspects Command of KPA Unit
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the Command of KPA Unit 627.
After going round the room devoted to the unit's history, he dropped in at a military lecture room to acquaint himself with the unit's performance of guard duty and the training of its commanding officers.
He expressed satisfaction over the fact that the unit has prepared all its commanding officers as the ones fully capable of organizing operations and commanding battles.
Going round the servicepersons' hall and a library, he praised the unit for dynamically conducting political and ideological education through an effective use of diverse materials and training soldiers to be all-round persons equipped with rich knowledge and emotion by establishing a revolutionary habit of reading, in particular.
Everybody should avidly read books as they are good companions and teachers in life, he said, adding that in order to encourage many soldiers to read precious books for a long period it is necessary to keep and manage them well.
In recent years the People's Army has intensified the work to increase the enthusiasm to read books, thereby more firmly arming its servicepersons with the revolutionary ideas of the WPK and steadily improving their cultural attainments, he said, noting that the habit of reading books established throughout the army is another praiseworthy trait which can be found only in our revolutionary army steering the era of Songun.
Looking round supply service facilities of the unit, he appreciated the efforts made by the unit. He was pleased to learn that it has successfully built various supply service facilities to the convenience of its servicepersons in their living and the commanding officers are taking utmost care of the soldiers as their real brothers and sisters would do.
Learning that the large combined unit to which the unit belongs has successfully built a supply service centre to provide its servicepersons with good conditions for diet, he praised it for having done a good job. He taught ways of energetically pushing ahead with this work and personally settled knotty problems.
He appreciated the unit's successes, noting that it has done a lot for increasing its combat capacity and, at the same time, for protecting land and environment.

Polish Ambassador Hosts Reception
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- Polish Ambassador to the DPRK Roman Iwaszkiewicz hosted a reception Thursday at his embassy to mark the independence day of Poland.
Present on invitation were Kung Sok Ung, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Ri Ryong Nam, vice-minister of Foreign Trade, Ri Sung Su, vice-minister of Land and Marine Transport, Hong So Hon, chairman of the Korea-Poland Friendship Parliamentary Group, officials concerned, diplomatic envoys of various countries and representatives of international organizations here.

Free Medical Care in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- Old woman Choe Pu Yong residing in Samsong-ri, Samsok District of Pyongyang, greeted her 110th birthday some time ago to the delight to all people.
Her mental power, energy, speech and appetite are not inferior to those in their 70s or 80s. She owed this to the superior socialist public health system.
Jang To Gyong, a department director of the Ministry of Public Health, had an interview with KCNA regarding this.
Reporter: It is told that grandma Choe owes the secret of her long life to the socialist public health system under which the state takes care of the life and health of the people with responsibility.
Director: The government of the DPRK, which regards the lives and health of the people as the first and foremost object of protection by the state, promulgated a decision on enforcing the universal free medical care system unprecedented in the history of world public health on November 13, Juche 41 (1952) when the Fatherland Liberation War was in its height.
The Socialist Constitution stipulates to receive the free medical care as one of the civic elementary rights and the government has taken all steps for the citizens to enjoy this right to the full.
Reporter: Would you elaborate upon the benefits of the universal free medical care system?
Director: A well-arranged medical service system has been established in all parts of the country, provinces, cities, counties and ris. Under the section doctor system, doctors call on inhabitants and do their best for the lives of patients.
All the medical services are also free of charge in the country.
The fees for medicines, vaccination and prosthetic appliances, to say nothing of medical examination and operation are also free. Working people go to and come back from sanatoriums and undergo medical treatment there for scores of days at the expenses of the government.
In particular, the working women have the maternity leave at the state expense on top of the paid regular and supplementary leaves. The state also provides them with the maternity allowances tantamount to 100 percent of the monthly salary, food and stabilized living conditions irrespective of the length of service. When they are hospitalized to the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, they are benefited 10 times their monthly salary free of charge.
Each hospital has a department for the regular medical examination and treatment of the aged. Thanks to this, 100-year macrobians are ever growing in number.
Kusong Nam Gate Showcases Fine Architecture
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- There is the Nam Gate of the Kuju Castle (Kusong Nam Gate) in Kusong City of North Phyongan Province.
The Nam Gate is the largest one out of the eight gates of the castle.
The gate, erected while building the Kuju Castle in 994, was reconstructed along with the castle wall in 1702.
The ground of the gate was laid with well-trimmed square granite stones and arch-typed gateway is in its centre.
The two storied square building of the castle gate standing on the ground has three spaces in the front and three spaces in the flanks.
Two foundation stones facing south of the building depict tortoise, each stone being 1.73m long, 1.14m wide and 0.6m high.
The gate which was important in the battle against aggressors shows the solidness of the castle structures.
The Kusong Nam Gate is preserved as a relic of national treasure for its fine architecture.
Historic Work on Independent Standpoint
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The famous work "The Tasks of Korean Communists" published by President Kim Il Sung in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle is a historic document which clarifies the independent stand.
The Korean people have held fast to the independent standpoint and successfully carried on the revolution and construction in the whole course of the Korean revolution as they are guided by the idea and truth of the work.
The President prepared firmly the members of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) and patriotic people politically and ideologically in accordance with the requirements of the complex situation after the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War and revolutionary development for continuously advancing the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle.
It was raised as a very important issue under the then situation in which the Japanese imperialists ever intensified repression and, scared by this, some wavering elements made their appearance.
In order to solve this issue, the President authored the famous work "The Tasks of Korean Communists" in November Juche 26 (1937) and published it in Sogwang, organ paper of the KPRA.
The work expounds that the people and communists of Korea are masters of the Korean revolution, they should make the revolutionary struggle in accordance with their own faith and bring the Korean revolution to victory by firmly training their own revolutionary force and thoroughly relying on it.
It puts forward the immediate tasks of the Korean communists to vigorously carry on the anti-Japanese national united front movement through the strengthened anti-Japanese armed struggle and lay the organizational and ideological foundation for founding the Party and clearly indicates the way for their implementation. It also lays stress on the idea that the Korean communists should firmly adhere to the independent stand.
True to the idea of the work, the revolutionaries and people of Korea entrusted all their destinies entirely to the President and struggled with devotion to carry out his line and policies though they had to cross over the deadline and cover the sanguinary road each step.
The Korean people have keenly experienced through the protracted revolutionary struggle that only when they maintain the independent stand, can they emerge victorious at all times.
All Koreans Called upon to Uphold Songun Policy
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The Songun policy serves as a powerful treasured sword for smashing the U.S. moves to ignite a war against the DPRK and defending peace on the Korean Peninsula and security of the Korean nation.

It is the basic mission of the Songun policy to firmly protect peace on the Korean Peninsula and security of the Korean nation from the foreign forces' evermore undisguised moves to ignite a war.
The struggle to prevent a war and defend peace on the Korean Peninsula has become fiercest on the anti-imperialist military front. It is only the DPRK's military muscle built up under the banner of Songun on which the Korean nation can depend in this struggle. The DPRK's military strength means that of the whole Korean nation. The DPRK's military strength plays a sacred role in protecting the whole Korean nation from the foreign forces' aggression and ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Songun proves truth that an army guarantees peace. It is the idea which runs through the Songun policy that the army of Songun guarantees peace on the Korean Peninsula and security of the Korean nation.
As a matter of fact, but for the Songun policy of the DPRK which binds the U.S. hand and foot a war would have broken out on this land a hundred times.
Today Songun means independence, peace and the greatest national pride for the Korean nation.
Rodong Sinmun Brands U.S. as Chief Spreader of WMD
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is chiefly to blame for proliferating weapons of mass destruction (WMD) capable of extinguishing humankind as it has the world's biggest stockpile of them.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
The U.S. tops the world list of sale of arms and war materiel, becoming the biggest weapon supplier to the dispute- and armed conflict-torn areas of the world, the article says, and goes on:
The true colors of the U.S. as the arch criminal escalating the international tension are proved by the fact that it has hamstrung any effort of the international community to control the arms race and persistently stood against it.
To cite a typical example, when the UN First Committee was about to adopt an international standard for checking the international plans for the sale of military products in October last year as they may cause civil wars and conflicts, it was only the U.S. that voted against the proposal.
The U.S. arms sale means a continuation of its foreign policy for aggression. It is keen to supply its allies with military products under the spurious name of "collective security" and thus keep them dependent upon the U.S.-made weaponry. By doing so, it seeks to interfere in the situation in the hotspots of the world and put them under its control through arms sale and contain and prevail over its "strategic rivals" through the sale of military products to other countries.
Prompted by this ambition, the U.S. makes no scruple of manufacturing the internationally banned WMD.
The U.S. is unreasonably putting pressure and international sanctions on other countries under the pretext of "opposing" the production of WMD but it is, in reality, the U.S. which has the world's biggest arsenal of WMD and is unhesitatingly using those weapons in wars of aggression against humankind. The U.S. imperialists are the heinous criminals using WMD for achieving their aggressive and hegemonic purpose without hesitation.
With no artifice can the U.S. cover up its true colors as the arch criminal stepping up international arms race and the spread of WMD.
Period of Joint Actions of Youth and Students Proclaimed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration reportedly called a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 3 at which it proclaimed the period of joint actions of youth and students in the south and the north and abroad for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and hailing and supporting the 2007 declaration signed by the top leaders of the south and the north.
A declaration read out at the press conference underlined the need to conduct various information activities to encourage the people from all walks of life to turn out in the movement for creating a favorable phase for national reunification including the work to institute June 15 as the anniversary common to the nation during the period of joint actions from Nov. 3 to Dec. 19.
It said the organization would resolutely stand up against the conservative forces who challenge the efforts of the fellow countrymen to achieve unity and reunification by invoking all evil laws including the "National Security Law".
Moves to Reinforce S. Korea-U.S. "Alliance" for Aggression under Fire
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration and other civic and public organizations of south Korea reportedly called a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 5 at which they strongly denounced the moves for reinforcing the south Korea-U.S. "alliance" aimed at aggression.
Speakers at the press conference accused the U.S. and the south Korean authorities of holding confabs such as "military committee meeting" and "annual security consultative meeting" in a bid to maintain and strengthen the "alliance" for aggression. In order to create a peace-keeping mechanism and achieve the independent reunification of the Korean Peninsula it is necessary to get the "UN Command" dissolved, the U.S. forces withdrawn from this land and the U.S.-south Korea "alliance" for aggression abolished, they declared.
A declaration was published at the press conference.
The organizations said that they would hold rallies, one-man demonstrations, press conferences and sit-in strikes in front of the "Ministry of National Defence" and U.S. military bases while the above-said meetings would be under way right after the publication of the declaration.
Meanwhile, the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification of south Korea called a press conference in front of the "Ministry of National Defence" in Seoul on Nov. 6 and denounced the U.S. moves for military domination over south Korea.
End to Disgraceful History Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- At least 70 victims of the "National Security Law" (NSL) reportedly held a meeting at the Christian Hall in Seoul on Nov. 2 at which they demanded the abolition of the fascist law opposed to the nation and reunification.
Victims of the evil law and their families, addressing the meeting, said that unreasonable suppression of people on charge of violation of the NSL is still going on. They accused the authorities of refusing to apologize for the past human rights abuses and reinstate the victims.
A declaration titled "Let's fight to have NSL abolished to put an end to age of barbarism" was read out there.
It stressed the need to have the NSL repealed immediately to prevent people from falling victim to the evil law any more.
Now is the time to put an end to the disgraceful history, a product of the NSL, the declaration said, stressing that the victims would take the lead in the struggle to have the evil law abolished and greet a new era of peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula.
The participants in the meeting watched a video disclosing the truth about the "cases" faked up as a result of the invocation of the NSL.
War Exercises against DPRK Continued by U.S. Forces in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- Air pirates of the 8th and 51st fighter regiments under the U.S. 7th Air Force in south Korea staged air war exercises on Nov. 6 and 7 to examine and round off their practical capability under the scenarios of operations for invading the DPRK, according to a military source.
At least 250 F-16 fighter-bombers and A-10 assault planes were hurled into the frantic war exercises which consisted of surprise strike at ground objects, close air support and aerial battle.
Meanwhile, the U.S. imperialists moved their guided missile destroyer, which had already been sent to Phyongthaek port of south Korea from their overseas military base, to the east sea to conduct landing maneuvers together with another guided missile destroyer there.
The U.S. imperialist warmongers also committed aerial espionage on the DPRK as a whole by sending 15 strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes including U-2, RC-12 to the sky above the Military Demarcation Line and the east and west coasts on Nov. 5 and 7.
What was more serious is that such military actions were conducted when the U.S. secretary of Defense and the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff visited south Korea to have an "annual security consultative meeting" and a "military committee meeting" with the south Korean military authorities, at which they discussed the introduction of up-to-date military equipment and other matters for war against the DPRK.
Junket of U.S. Secretary of Defense to S. Korea under Fire
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- South Korean civic and social organizations reportedly waged a struggle against the junket of the U.S. secretary of Defense to south Korea on Nov. 6.
The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the All People Committee of Measures against the Expansion of the U.S. Forces' Base in Phyongthaek and the Solidarity for Peace against War in the area of Suwon and other organizations held a joint press conference in front of the U.S. air force base in Osan, Kyonggi Province in protest against the visit of the secretary.
A press release was read out at the conference.
Recalling that the secretary flew into south Korea to participate in the 39th south Korea-U.S. "annual security consultative meeting," the press release charged that the purpose of his trip was to expand the U.S. forces' base in Phyongthaek and reinforce the south Korea-U.S. "alliance" for aggression.
Meanwhile, members of the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification staged a surprise demonstration in front of a hotel in Seoul where he put up.
Perturbed by this, policemen committed such outrage as brutally cracking down upon the demonstrators and walking them away.
The above-said organization released a statement in protest against the police authorities' atrocities.
That evening members of civic and social organizations held a candlelight meeting and staged a one-man demonstration in protest against their reckless suppression.
Anniversary of DIU Observed in U.S.
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Group for the Study of Songun Politics posted an article titled "The Down-with-Imperialism Union's Idea of Independence against Imperialism" on the Internet homepage on Oct. 22 on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the formation of the DIU.
The article noted that the formation of the DIU was a historic declaration as it proclaimed a start of the Korean revolution and served as a starting point for founding a revolutionary party of Juche type, a new type party in Korea.
It said that the Korean revolution has only won victories, weathering out severe storms of history, guided by the banner of the DIU, the banner of independence against imperialism under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung over the past more than eight decades.
Noting that today the idea of the DIU, the idea of independence against imperialism, has been successfully embodied in all spheres of the revolution and construction thanks to the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il, the article stressed that the banner of the DIU, the banner of independence against imperialism, would always shine as a banner of victory thanks to his leadership.
DPRK's Significant Day Observed in Czech Republic
Pyongyang. November 9 (KCNA) -- Round-table talks and film show were held by the Breclav County Committee of the Communist Party of Czech and Moravia and round-table talks and photo exhibition by the Czech, Moravian and Silesian Trade Unions' Association on Oct. 27 and 29 on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.
Displayed in the photo exhibition were photos showing the Songun leadership exploits of Kim Jong Il and books and photos introducing the invincible might of the heroic KPA.
Chairman of the Breclav County Committee of the Communist Party of Czech and Moravia Josef Janchara in his speech at the round-table talks referred in detail to the fact that President Kim Il Sung founded the Songun idea as well as the unique Juche idea and created the revolutionary armed forces, guided by it, adding that the DPRK has firmly defended socialism while smashing the moves of the U.S. imperialists against the DPRK thanks to the Songun politics.
Recalling that the Korean people defeated the U.S. imperialists who were much superior to the Korean People's Army in terms of numerical strength and weaponry during the three-year Korean war, he noted that the President steadily bolstered the army, put all people under arms, turned the whole country into a fortress and laid down the line of carrying on the economic construction and defence upbuilding simultaneously, thus decisively checking and frustrating the moves of the U.S. imperialists who were styling itself the "world's only super power" to provoke a new war.
The DPRK is fully ready to cope with a war, he said, stressing that Kim Jong Il has successfully carried forward the Songun idea founded by the President.
Frantisek Krizek, executive secretary of the Central Committee of the Czech, Moravian and Silesian Trade Unions' Association, addressing the round-table talks, said that the KPA has grown to be invincible revolutionary armed forces which have reached the best level in terms of political and ideological preparedness and military technique as it holds Kim Jong Il in high esteem as its supreme commander.
The participants of the film show watched the Korean film "75th Anniversary of the Heroic Korean People's Army."

El Dirigente hizo conocimiento del estado de cumplimiento del deber de la unidad, vio los ejercicios de los militares y se mostro satisfecho de que al entrenar constantemente, todos los uniformados crecieron como los combatientes listos a combatir uno contra cien enemigos y presento las tareas que se presentan para el fortalecimiento de la combatividad de la unidad.
Senalo que la primera tarea revolucionaria para los militares es hacer bien los ejercicios y subrayo que deben prestar siempre primordial atencion a la labor para realizar a cabalidad la ejecucion del programa de entrenamiento presentado.
Acto seguido, el Comandante Supremo recorrio la sala de educacion, dormitorio, comedor, almacen de alimentos subsidiarios, bano, lugar de descanso al aire libre, corral y otros lugares de la unidad, donde presto profunda atencion a la labor y la vida de los soldados.
Expreso satisfaccion de que al materializar el modo de administracion de la unidad al estilo de la guerrilla antijaponesa, la subunidad acondiciono bien las instalaciones de cultura, educacion e intendencia, organizo bien la economia suplementaria para que gocen de una vida acomodada y evaluo altamente el modo de vida hacendosa.
Al contemplar el recinto del cuartel rodeado por los arboles de caqui que estan cargados de frutas bien maduradas y los bosques de castanos, el Comandante Supremo elogio que los oficiales y soldados de la unidad acondicionaron magnificamente los puestos y destaco que esto es un rasgo hermoso que pueden manifestar solo los militares quienes aman ardientemente a la patria.

EE.UU. es proliferador de armas de exterminio masivo
Pyongyang, 9 de noviembre (ATCC) -- Estados Unidos no solo es poseedor de mayor numero de armas de exterminio masivo, sino tambien promotor de la proliferacion de estas.
Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 9 y continua:
EE.UU. ocupa el primer lugar tanto en la exportacion de pertrechos de guerra como en el suministro de las armas a los lugares de litigios y conflictos militares del mundo.
La naturaleza de EE.UU., autor de la agravacion de la tension internacional se revela en que este imperio nada contra los esfuerzos de la sociedad internacional por el control de armamento.
En octubre del ano pasado cuando el Comite de Desarme de la ONU y la Seguridad Internacional trato de establecer una norma internacional para detener el plan de venta de pertrechos belicos, ese pais americano fue el unico pais que estaba en contra de esa propuesta.
La venta de armas de EE.UU. es la continuacion de su agresiva politica exterior. Bajo la mascara de la "seguridad colectiva", EE.UU. ofrece los pertrechos de guerra a sus aliados para mantener asi el apoyo de estos en los armamentos suyos y al tomar por palanca la venta de los materiales belicos se propone manejar y controlar la situacion de las regiones litigiosas del mundo y mantener a raya a los "adversarios estrategicos" mediante la venta de los materiales belicos al exterior.
Con tal ambicion agresiva el imperio no se vacila en producir armas de exterminio masivo prohibidas internacionalmente.
So pretexto de "oponerse" a la produccion de armas de exterminio masivo ejerce presion injusta sobre otros paises o toma las medidas de sancion internacional contra estos. Pero, de hecho posee el mayor numero de armas en cuestion en el mundo y las usa sin vacilacion en la guerra de agresion contra la humanidad.
Los imperialistas yanquis son perversos criminales que utilizan sin escrupulo las armas de extermino masivo para la realizacion de su objetivo agresivo y dominacionista.
Con ninguna artimana EE.UU. podra encubrir su naturaleza de promotor de la carrera armamentista internacional y proliferador de las armas de exterminio masivo.

Pyongyang, 9 de noviembre (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 16o aniversario de la eleccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il como Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea, tuvieron lugar los dias 27 y 29 de octubre charlas y proyeccion filmica en el Comite del Partido Comunista de Cechy-Morava en Breclav; charla y fotoexhibicion en la Asociacion de Sindicatos de Cechy, Morava y Silesia.
En la exhibicion fotografica se veian las fotos alusivas a las proezas de direccion del Songun del Dirigente, los libros y fotos que dan a conocer el invencible poderio del heroico EPC.
El presidente del Comite del Partido Comunista de Cechy-Morava en Breclav, Josef Janchara, en la charla dijo que gracias a la politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) Corea pudo rechazar las maquinaciones anti-RPDC de EE.UU. y defender con firmeza el socialismo, y se refirio en detalle a que el Presidente concibio la original idea Juche y la del Songun y, a base de estas, fundo las fuerzas armadas revolucionarias.
En la pasada guerra coreana de 3 anos el pueblo coreano vencio a los invasores norteamericanos superiores en numero y en armamento, senalo y destaco que el Presidente fortalecio constantemente el ejercito, realizo el armamento de todo el pueblo y la fortificacion de todo el pais y presento la linea de desarrollar paralelamente la construccion economica y la de defensa nacional, de modo que frustro tajantemente las maquinaciones de provocacion de nueva guerra de los imperialistas yanquis que se autodenominaban de "unica superpotencia".

Pyongyang, 9 de noviembre (ATCC) -- Segun fuentes castrenses, los piratas aereos de los 8o y 51o regimientos de cazabombarderos de la 7a fuerza aerea estadounidense ocupante del Sur de Corea desplegaron los dias 6 y 7 un ejercicio belico para revisar y perfeccionar la capacidad real segun el plan operacional de agresion al Norte de Corea.
En estos freneticos ejercicios compuestos por el ataque sorpresivo a los objetos terrestres, el apoyo aereo a corta distancia y el combate aereo se movilizaron mas de 250 cazabombarderos "F-16" y aviones de asalto "A-10".
Ademas, se traslado al Mar Este de Corea un destructor de proyectiles teledirigidos, que se habia introducido de una base ultramarina al puerto de Phyongthaek del Sur de Corea, y se incorporo junto con otro barco de misma mision al entrenamiento de la operacion de desembarco maritimo.
Al mismo tiempo, los dias 5 y 7, 15 unidades de "U-2" y "RC-12" perpetraron actos de espionaje aereo sobre toda la extension de la parte Norte sobrevolando los espacios aereos de los alrededores de la Linea de Demarcacion Militar y las zonas litorales del Mar Este y el Oeste de Corea.
Lo grave del caso es que tales maquinaciones se coinciden en tiempo con que el secretario de Defensa estadounidense y el presidente de la Junta de Jefes de Estado Mayor de EE.UU. convocaron en el Sur de Corea junto con las autoridades castrenses surcoreanas la llamada "reunion de consulta anual para la seguridad" y el "comite militar" e hicieron una conspiracion para la guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea incluida la aplicacion de equipos belicos ultramodernos.
