Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The DPRK team won the gold medal at the 4th Asian Women's U-19 Football Championship held in China some time ago, thus further consolidating its unchallenged position in Asia.
The history of the women's football is not so long in Korea. But, since making its debut in international women's football arena, the DPRK has proved successful in various forms of soccer games.
The might of the DPRK's women's football has been fully demonstrated in the 2000s. The DPRK came first at the 13th Asian Women's Football Championship in December Juche 90 (2001), and won the gold medals at the Albena Cup International Women's Football Championship and in the women's football event of the 14th Asian Games in 2002.

Repeal of Japan's Decision to Extend Sanctions against DPRK Demanded

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Noboru Kameda, representative of the Society of the Japan-Korea Culture, on a visit to the DPRK was interviewed by KCNA here Friday.
He said that the Japanese government's decision to extend sanctions against the DPRK including the total embargo on its ships is wrong behavior swimming against the trend of the times.
The Declaration for the Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity was published in October this year in the wake of the publication of the North-South Joint Declaration on June 15, 2000, he said, and went on:
The world peace-loving people hail the publication of the Declaration for the Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity and hope for an early independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.
Today Japan-DPRK relations are not developing in the basic spirit of the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration. The Japanese government is not opting to improve the bilateral relations under the pretext of the "abduction issue". This is affecting the resumption of the talks for the establishment of the Japan-DPRK diplomatic relations.
The Japanese government should apologize and compensate for the unspeakable sufferings and pain imposed upon the Korean people in the past.
But the present Japanese government has not yet abandoned its wrong attitude toward the past wrongs.
I cannot repress resentment at preceding Dietmen's visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine" and Japanese rightwing organizations' moves to distort history textbooks.
Only when the abnormal relations between Japan and the DPRK are brought to the earliest possible end, can the two countries become near and close countries, not near yet distant countries.
The Society for the Japan-Korea Culture strongly demands the Japanese government give up its hostile policy toward the DPRK and retract its decision to extend the sanctions against the DPRK including a total embargo on the ship "Mangyongbong-92."
We will in the future, too, extend invariable support and encouragement to the struggle to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea, promote Japan-DPRK friendship and protect the rights and national education of Koreans in Japan.

Decision to Extend Presence of S. Korean Troops in Iraq Opposed

Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- "National assemblymen" from the Democratic Labor Party of south Korea reportedly called an emergency press conference on Oct. 23 in opposition to a decision made by the authorities to extend the presence of troops in Iraq.
At the conference the speakers accused the authorities of persistently trying to extend the presence of the troops while insisting on "cooperation" with the U.S.
The authorities are resorting to such a hackneyed trick as calling for reducing the troops instead of extending their presence but this will invite stronger protest of the people, they held.
The Grand National Party of south Korea and Ri Myong Bak will certainly be punished by the people as they support the U.S. moves to extend the presence of the troops, oft-repeating "war alliance" with it, they warned.

Actions Declared for Victory of Progressives in S. Korea

The speakers at the ceremony called for eliminating those forces opposed to the June 15 joint declaration without fail.
A declaration read out there said that the coming "presidential elections" are a fierce showdown between the forces for progressive reforms and the pro-U.S. conservatives, adding that the reunification forces supporting the June 15 joint declaration, the forces for progressive reforms should win a victory in the elections without fail in order to achieve independent reunification and national prosperity.
Underlining the need to concentrate all efforts on enabling the progressive camp to emerge victorious in the elections, the declaration noted that it is the action goal to be attained by it under any circumstances to prevent the Grand National Party of south Korea from coming to power.
The declaration called on all the people to turn out as one in the campaign to punish the GNP opposed to the reunification and stage a dynamic anti-U.S. and anti-conservative struggle under the banner of the joint declaration.
Earlier, the above-mentioned organizations formed "headquarters for the campaign to implement the June 15 joint declaration".
