Weaponry and Metalwork in Period of Three Kingdoms

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The weaponry and metalwork were highly developed in the period of the three kingdoms (Koguryo, Silla and Paekje) in the Korean history.
The helmet and armour were excellent. Lots of kumhyugae (an armour decorated with gold on dark red ground) of Paekje were exported to foreign countries.
Hwandudae and various other kinds of sword and spear were good in quality and their production technology was on a high standard.
Various forms of rock-throwers, the cart for destroying castle wall, the bow capable of shooting several arrows at one time and other weapons were made on a high technical standard and their might was strong.
The three kingdoms were considerably high in metal processing technology.
Typical of them are the jeweled crown ornaments which were discovered in the earthen castle of Chongam-ri, Pyongyang.
The band of the crown was made by the plastic working method and its holes were bored on a same size. Its gold thread is very fine and beads were made by hammering lumps. The crown gilt with gold dissolved in mercury remains rustless even under the ground for one thousand and hundreds of years.
Buddhist sculptures, the golden crown of Silla and others show the high level of the metal production and processing technique in the period of the three kingdoms.

Japan's Compensation for Past Crimes Urged

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries, in their on-going campaign to distort history, are blabbing that "abated talking about forcible drafting is gratifying" and "the words 'forcible drafting' must be totally rescinded".
Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun says in an article Friday:
What they seek in this is to erase the crimes of Japan in forcibly taking away Koreans from the past history and refuse to make an apology and compensation for them. But history cannot be changed with words nor can it be reversed by a distorted description in the history textbook.
Citing materials to prove that forcible drafting of Koreans by the Japanese imperialists was a hideous human rights abuse, the author of the article continues:
They forcibly drafted, kidnapped and abducted Koreans in groups and forced them to slave labor and murdered them. These were crimes that could not be committed without politicizing the destruction of the Korean nation or without orders and instructions of the government during their colonial rule over Korea.
Rolling off the tongues of the Japanese reactionaries quite often these days, with regard to the past crimes of the Japanese imperialists, are the words that the drafting and abduction were made "at the voluntary will of Koreans." This means that they were utterly not accountable for that.
They persist in denying the past crimes and tampering with history, considering it to be "an act of self-maltreatment" to honestly admit the forcible drafting and kidnapping of Koreans and other crimes of the Japanese imperialists and make an apology and compensation for them.
In fact, however, the distortion of history and denial of past crimes are an act of self-maltreatment and a foolish behavior of isolating Japan in international arena.
Bearing this in mind, Japan had better stop such act and redress the past at an early date. This is beneficial for Japan itself.
