Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed

Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Tuesday dedicates an article to the 25th publication anniversary of Kim Jong Il's famous work "The Workers' Party of Korea Is a Juche-Type Revolutionary Party Which Inherited the Glorious Tradition of the DIU".
The work serves as an important document as it comprehensively deals with theoretical and practical problems arising in steadily adding shine to the glorious history and tradition of the WPK which has covered a unique path under the banner of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).
The DIU represents the roots of the WPK, the origin of Songun and a model of unity, the author of the article says, and goes on:
Thanks to the great tradition of the DIU the WPK has grown to be an experienced and tested invincible revolutionary party, the army of the DPRK has been built into a matchless army and the Party, army and people are single-mindedly rallied close around the leader.
The WPK which inherited the glorious tradition of the DIU is a dignified revolutionary party holding aloft the banner of independence.
The historical experience goes to prove that if a party fails to maintain independence, it can never ensure consistency in party building and activities nor creditably carry out its historical mission as a political guiding organization of the popular masses.
The WPK is a revolutionary party winning one victory after another under the banner of Songun.
The Songun politics of the WPK originated from the DIU. The banner of the DIU was a banner of Songun, banner of the most vigorous struggle against imperialism.
The WPK is a powerful revolutionary party holding high the banner of single-minded unity.
One of the greatest feats performed by the DIU was that it gave origin to the unity of revolutionary ranks around the leader.
The WPK has become an ideologically pure party as all its members are replete with the Juche-based Songun idea and the spirit of devotedly defending the leader. And it has become elite ranks in which all members act as one in accordance with the intentions of the leader and fully display the spirit of devotedly implementing them. This is the true picture of the WPK, faithful inheritor of the tradition of unity of the DIU.

World Food Day Marked

Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Today marks the founding anniversary of the UN Food and Agricultural Organization and the World Food Day.
Rodong Sinmun in a signed article dedicated to the day says that the purpose of instituting the World Food Day was to bring the importance of the food problem home to the people of all countries and intensify international discussion on the urgency of solution to the food problem worldwide and the ways of solving it.
    The article goes on:
The theme of the World Food Day this year is the "right to food". The acute food shortage worldwide adversely affects humankind in enjoying this right.
The worldwide solution to the food problem is by no means impossible. If all the countries of the world buckle down to the problem they can surely solve it.
Many countries have exerted much effort for developing agriculture so as to solve the food problem.
The DPRK has waged a dynamic drive to boost agricultural production despite natural disasters that hit the country for several consecutive years. It has taken a series of realistic and effective measures to solve the food problem. It has strictly abided by the principle of right crop on the right soil and right crop in the right time and introducing advanced farming technique and method while pushing forward such large scale nature-remaking projects as land realignment and waterway projects under a detailed plan.
Big progress can be made in solving the world food problem if each country and people make positive efforts to increase grain production and strengthen international cooperation and exchange.
