Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Monday sent a congratulatory message to Ernest Bai Koroma upon his election as President of Sierra Leone.
Expressing the belief that the friendly ties between the two countries would grow strong, Kim in the message sincerely wished him great success in his responsible work for the national reconciliation and unity and reconstruction of the country.

Book "Story about Tok Island" Off Press
Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The Academy of Social Sciences has recently brought out the Book "Story about Tok Island".
The book consists of Chapter.1 Common Knowledge on Tok Island, Chapter.2 Exploration of the East Sea and the Discovery and Dominium of Tok Island, Chapter.3 Dominium of Tok Island by Korea Seen through An Ryong Bok Incident and Chapter.4 Japanese Imperialists' Acts of Aggression against Tok Island and Invariable Scheme to Seize It.
Carried in the book are data related with the An Ryong Bok incident, an article of the History Society of the DPRK and a memorandum of the History Institute under the Academy of Social Sciences on Japan's unwarranted assertion on the "dominium over Tok Island", general knowledge on the island and photo materials.
Its preface says that Korean people discovered Ulrung and Tok Islands in the ancient times and have settled there. Around the early sixth century, they established a state called Usanguk to control the two islands.
It discloses that Japan had made more unscrupulous its wild ambition to seize Ulrung and Tok Islands in accordance with its intensified invasion of Korea after the "Meiji Restoration" and illegally "annexed" Tok Island to its territory at last in February 1905.
The historical truth, the book stresses, patently shows that the assertion about the "dominium over Tok Island" on the lips of Japan is a preposterous sophism, a deceptive propaganda calling for militarism and a revelation of its scheme to re-inroad Korea.
Its readers strongly demand that Japan should liquidate the crime-woven history against the Korean people, withdraw at once its anachronistic assertion about the "dominium over Tok Island" and the bill on instituting the "Day of Takeshima (Tok Island)".
Koryo Medicines Extracted and Standardized in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The Korean Koryo Medicine Technical Center has directed much effort to the work for extracting efficacious components from medicinal herbs and standardizing them into capsules and pills.
The center has successfully extracted efficacious components from fruit of Crataegus pinnatifida, leaves of the jujube tree and some ten medicinal herbs good for cardiovascular system.
Based on these successes, it is manufacturing standardized coated pills of broad-leaved clove buds, coated peptic pills of Atractylodes japonica elecampane, coated pills of Angelica gigas and other pills.
The medicines were highly appreciated in the 10th National Exhibition of Scientific and Technological Achievements in the Public Health held in August last.
Vice-director in charge of science of the center Jon Ryong Hak said that Koryo medicines have been used in the form of medicinal decoction or powder from long ago but extracted ones can be taken like modern medicines and one or two tablets produce quick treatment efficacy.
The final target of the center is to extract and standardize all the Koryo medicines, he added.
Rodong Sinmun on Importance of Ideological Work
Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il provided progressive parties and people aspiring after socialism with the guideline of struggle and an invincible ideological and theoretical weapon by expounding the historical truth that socialism wins when ideology is tightly grasped and falls when the hold of it is missed. This is the great feat he has performed in the history of the global socialist movement.
Rodong Sinmun says this in an article Wednesday. The author of the article goes on:
Only when a working class party places the ideological work above all other work by grasping ideology as the main point can it discharge its mission and duty as a leading political organization guiding the independent cause of the popular masses.
The education of the people in socialist ideology cannot be easily done of its own accord even after the socialist system is established and its material and economic conditions are created.
If the ideological work is not carried on persistently, the revolutionary enthusiasm of the people gradually cools down and there appears among them the tendency of seeking an easy life.
It is proven by historical facts that socialism collapses when the ideological work is let loose.
Socialism in some countries collapsed in the past because the work of ideological education for arming the party members and working people with socialist ideas was neglected or abandoned.
Modern revisionists and renegades to socialism emasculated, first of all, the leadership of the working class party in the ideological work.
They also destroyed the system of political and ideological education of the army and the youth and children.
The people in countries building socialism in the past were depraved politically and ideologically and seized with illusion about capitalism. No small number of people rolled up their sleeves in opposing socialism at the instigation of the reactionaries. As a result, socialism collapsed overnight.
It is the traditional political mode of the Workers' Party of Korea to accelerate the revolution and construction with the might of ideology. There is no hibernation and stagnation in the ideological work of the WPK as it is guided by Kim Jong Il.
Kim Jong Il Praised in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, the National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification and the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification on Sept. 17 posted on their Internet homepages "Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il, Illustrious Commander Born of Heaven" (1), an article published by the Seoul Citizens Committee for the Study of General Kim Jong Il in south Korea.
The article in an introduction said that Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il is the great resourceful general produced by the Korean nation as he indicates the way of achieving national independence. It praised him as the leader who has got the history of the Korean nation invariably oriented toward national independence.
The article consists of four parts.
Its first part said that his gift and stratagem in his childhood had already startled adults.
Its second part noted that he became thinker and theoretician and strategist of varied attainments who had been already recognized by the world when he was young.
His stratagem led the confrontation with the U.S. to victory in the 1990s, its third part said, and went on:
He authored famous work "Socialism Is a Science" in which he indicated the orientation of reviving the socialist movement and leading it to victory on the basis of the Juche idea, thereby arousing admiration of many progressive thinkers and enabling the north to occupy the strong position as the world's ideological power.
He led the north's confrontation with the U.S. to victory.
Referring to this marvelous stratagem of Kim Jong Il, the U.S. confessed that it lacks such strategy but north Korea has a consistent strategy and does not miss an opportunity. It noted with surprise that his judgement is correct and his resolution is firm and his strike is merciless.
The article in its fourth part said that as it is led by Kim Jong Il, the most resourceful general, the Korean nation could escape war disasters and look forward to a rosy future of reunification. That is why all the members of the nation are confident that he is, indeed, the most illustrious commander in the history of the Korean nation and the sun indicating the way of independent reunification, it stressed.
Feats of Kim Jong Suk Praised in U.S. and Britain
Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- U.S. and British organizations posted a photo of Kim Jong Suk, the woman commander of Mt. Paektu, and a painting depicting her defending President Kim Il Sung with her life, her whole body as a shield, together with an article on their Internet homepages on the 58th anniversary of the death of the anti-Japanese war hero.
The Internet homepage of the U.S. Group for the Study of Songun Politics said in its article titled "Kim Jong Suk, the Great Mother of All People":
Kim Jong Suk praised as "the great mother of all people" by the progressives worldwide is the anti-Japanese war hero who embarked on the road of revolution in her early years and earned fame as a faithful soldier of Kim Il Sung and a dead shot.
She was the peerlessly great person and a great revolutionary who devoted her life to the struggle for the liberation of Korea, the freedom and happiness of the people and reunification till her last moment.
Anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk is always alive in the hearts of progressive humankind.
The Internet homepage of the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy in its article titled "Brilliant Life" gave detailed accounts of the fact that Kim Jong Suk defended the revolutionary command with her life in fierce battlefields and resolutely defended the revolutionary idea of the President by waging an acute fight against the counterrevolutionary elements in the days of the anti-Japanese struggle and, after the liberation of the country, made it her primary task in her work to protect the President's personal safety.
The life of Kim Jong Suk was the life of a great revolutionary who devoted her all to the motherland and the people as a revolutionary soldier boundlessly faithful to Kim Il Sung, the article said.
End to U.S. Presence in S. Korea Called for
Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy posted on its Internet homepage an article titled "Let us put an end to U.S. presence in south Korea".
The U.S. imperialists who had long worked hard to realize their ambition to invade Korea landed in south Korea under the guise of "liberator" on the plea of "disarming" the Japanese troops on September 8, 1945, the article said, noting that this marked the beginning of the disgraceful history of the U.S. military occupation of south Korea and brought the tragedy of division to the Korean nation.
The U.S. troops have acted aggressors and occupation forces, to all intends and purposes, since the very day they set their blood-stained jackboots on the soil of south Korea, the article said, dealing with the 62 year-long history of the U.S. troops' presence in south Korea characterized by monstrous crimes and killings of Koreans.
Recalling that with the advent of the June 15 era of independent reunification the north and the south are working hard to achieve reconciliation, cooperation and reunification, but the U.S. troops, still keeping one half of Korea under their occupation, are lording it over and keen on the moves for aggression, interference and division, the article went on:
Neither independence and peace of Korea can be achieved nor can the reunification and prosperity of the nation come true as long as the U.S. troops remain in south Korea.
The U.S. was the main architect of Korea's division and the U.S. troops in south Korea are the biggest stumbling block in the way of reunification and a source of all sorts of misfortune and pain of the Korean people.

Publicado libro "Historia de la isla Tok"
Pyongyang, 26 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Ultimamente, la Academia de Ciencias Sociales de Corea dio a luz el libro "Historia de la isla Tok".
El libro consta del primer capitulo Conocimientos de referencia de la isla Tok, el segundo Explotacion del Mar Este, el descubrimiento y la posesion de la isla Tok, el tercero Derecho jurisdiccional de Corea sobre la isla Tok constatado por el caso de An Ryong Bok y el cuarto Maniobras de agresion a la isla Tok de los imperialistas japoneses y su invariable ambicion de despojarla".
Adjunta los datos relativos con el caso de An Ryong Bok, el articulo de la Asociacion de Historiadores de la RPDC y el memorandum del Instituto de Historia de la Academia de Ciencias Sociales sobre lo injusto de la insistencia de Japon en que la "isla Tok pertenece a si mismo", los conocimientos de referencia y las fotos referentes a esta isla.
En la introduccion, senala que ya en la edad antigua, el pueblo coreano descubrio las islas Ulrung y Tok y asento en ellas.
Prosigue que a los principios del siglo 6, fundo hasta el pais llamado "Usanguk" para gobernar las dos islas.
Indica que el intento de Japon de arrebatarlas se torno mas abierto y adquirio nuevas formas a medida que se intensificaban las maniobras de agresion a Corea despues de la "Renovacion de Meiji".
Revela que finalmente, en febrero de 1905, ese pais isleno orquesto esa gran farsa de la historia: la "adhesion de la isla Tok al territorio japones".
Subraya que todos los hechos historicos demuestran claramente que esa absurda insistencia del pais isleno es una propaganda enganosa para resucitar el fantasma militarista y significa una manifestacion de su ambicion de agredir de nuevo a Corea.

Pyongyang, 26 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El Centro Tecnologico de Medicamentos Coryo de Corea encauza gran fuerza a la labor para hacer extraidas las hierbas medicinales y hacer estandarizadas las medicinas Coryo en capsulas o pildoras.
Para este fin logro extraer los elementos eficientes de mas de diez variedades de hierbas medicinales incluidos espino blanco y hojas de azufaifa que son recomendables para el tratamiento de las enfermedades cardiovasculares.
A base de ello, logro fabricar y estandarizar las pildoras de clavero de hojas anchas, Fpimedium koreanum, Angelica gigas, etc.
Estos medicamentos disfrutaron de reputacion en la X Exposicion Nacional de Logros Cientifico-Tecnicos del sector de la Salud Publica, efectuada en agosto pasado.
El subdirector cientifico Jon Ryong Hak dijo que los medicamentos Coryo se hicieron tradicionalmente en pocima o en polvos, pero, por las medicinas extraidas y estandarizadas es posible obtener virtud deseada con una o dos pildoras.
El objetivo final del centro es hacer extraidas y estandarizadas todas las medicinas tradicionales.
