Rumor about "Secret Nuclear Cooperation" between DPRK and Syria Dismissed

Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA today as regards the rumor about "secret nuclear cooperation" between the DPRK and Syria spread by some media of the United States:
Recently, the New York Times and some other media of the United States spread the rumor about the DPRK's secret nuclear cooperation with Syria. This is sheer misinformation.
The DPRK solemnly declared in October 2006 that, being a responsible nuclear weapons state, it would never allow nuclear transfer, and has stood by its words.
The DPRK never makes an empty talk but always tells truth.
The above-said story is nothing but a clumsy plot hatched by the dishonest forces who do not like to see any progress at the six-party talks and in the DPRK-U.S. relations.

Rodong Sinmun Debunks Doctrine of "Maritime Defense Line"

Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- The doctrine of securing "a maritime defense line" advocated by Abe is essentially aimed at forming a new military bloc of Asian version and, for this purpose, he talked about the establishment of "Asian" partnership, says Rodong Sinmun in an article Tuesday.
The author of the article further says:
Hidden behind this doctrine is the heinous intention of the Japanese reactionaries to gratify their ambition of reinvasion by grabbing the control on marine routes first of all.
Without air and marine routes, the Japanese "Self-Defense Forces" cannot take even a single step outside Japan nor can they launch any military operation against other countries.
While touring Asian countries, Abe sought to create favorable conditions for seizing the control of marine routes, the key to the realization of the reinvasion design, under the pretext of securing "a maritime defense line".
The Japanese reactionaries are craftily trying to grab the control on the region facing the Pacific and Indian Oceans which is of military and strategic importance on the plea of combating "terrorism on the sea" and "ensuring the safe sailing of ships".
Lurking behind Abe's doctrine is the sinister scheme of Japan to stage a large-scale military operation single-handed in disregard of the present constitution banning a war.
The main point in realizing Japanese militarists' reinvasion design may be said to be a naval operation beginning with the massive move and deployment of armed forces through the sea. To this end, Abe spun out the sugar-coated mishmash during his recent Asian junket that Japan would boost economic "aid" and "investment" in Asian countries and endeavor to achieve "co-prosperity". In this way, Japan is seeking to lull the alert of the countries in the region and lay a foothold for launching an aggressive military operation by sending the "SDF" to the sea of the region.
This is why Japan has gone on a rampage by zealously taking part in multi-national joint military drills staged in the Pacific in recent years.
Hidden behind Abe's doctrine of securing "a maritime defense line" is Japan's Machiavellian intention to get harsher in economic domination and plunder in Asian countries.
The Japanese reactionaries think that Japan would be able to gratify its ambition of economic domination over the Asian countries, not to speak of securing a sphere of naval operation for the "SDF", only if Japan seized the control of the vast sea linking the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Herein lies the purpose sought by Abe when he advocated establishment of "Asian" partnership for securing "a maritime defense line" during his Asian junket.

All Koreans Called upon to Struggle for National Independence

Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- To stand for national independence or dependence on outside forces is a touchstone that distinguishes reunification from division and patriotism from treachery.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
It is senseless to talk about national independence, while pursuing flunkeyism and dependence on outside forces, the article notes, and goes on:
Dependence on outside forces is as foolish an act as putting a noose of destruction around one's neck by oneself. If one hesitates to take the road of national independence and cooperation, failing to face up to the reality in which the spirit of "By our nation itself" has become a trend of the times, one will commit such a shameful criminal act as disturbing the peace of the country and security of the nation and blocking the cause of national reunification, thereby leaving an indelible blot in history.
It is stipulated in the historic June 15 joint declaration that the north and the south agreed to independently settle the issue of national reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation. It means that the north and the south made a promise before the whole nation to fully introduce national independence in settling the issue of reunification on the basis of their recognition that national independence is the great principle for national reunification.
National independence is the most just principle for national reunification.
The issue of Korea's reunification is, in its essence, the one of putting an end to the outside forces' domination over south Korea and interference in it and establishing the national sovereignty throughout Korea. The independent character of the cause of national reunification requires the whole nation to firmly maintain the principle and stand of national independence in the movement for reunification with the transparent consciousness of independence.
National independence helps reject outside forces' aggression and interference and guarantees the peace and the victorious progress of the cause of reunification, while flunkeyism and dependence on outside forces only do harm to the movement for national reunification and bring the destiny of the nation to ruin. Dependence on outside forces would bring nothing but continued division and war disasters. The principle of national independence that calls for solving all issues by the concerted efforts of the Koreans, rejecting outside aggressor forces' domination and interference against reunification is the main principle of national reunification which they should neither abandon nor soften up under any circumstances.

    M. Jahangir Khan, chairman of the Bangladesh Group for the Study of the Songun Policy, said at a seminar that the Songun politics of the DPRK is a peculiar mode of politics the developing countries, including Bangladesh, should learn at present.
He expressed the belief that the Korean people would achieve greater successes in the cause of national reunification and the building of a great prosperous powerful nation under the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il.
A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the seminar in Russia.

Suppression of Labor Movement Rapped in S. Korea

Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification reportedly released a statement on September 12 denouncing the "government" and the security authorities for suppressing the labor movement.
The statement accused the management side and policemen of indiscriminately assaulting women part-time workers who staged an action in defence of their right to live on September 9.
Violence has gone beyond the tolerance limit as evidenced by the police's assault and arrest of unionists including Chairman of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Ri Sok Haeng on Sept. 12, the statement noted, and continued: The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification bitterly condemns the "government" and the security authorities for their brutal crackdown.
The statement called upon the workers to be responsible for their own destiny and stand up against the authorities' suppression.
The statement appealed to the workers, farmers and the poor and others to firmly unite under the slogan of struggling against part-time jobs, neo-liberalism and the U.S.

Repeal of NSL Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations including the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the Students' Committee for Measures to Put an End to the Security Authorities' Suppression of the Student Movement and Repeal the "National Security Law" and the People's Solidarity for the Abolition of the "National Security Law" reportedly held a joint news conference in Seoul on September 13 at which they blasted the issuance of a summons against Chairman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils Ri Hui Chol in 2000 and the security authorities' suppression of him.
Speakers at the conference accused the security authorities of having issued to Ri Hui Chol a summons to appear before them several times since Aug. 13 on the "charge of disturbing the performance of special duties".
He had already been on the want list for the last 7 years on charges of "joining an enemy-benefiting organization and playing a role in it" in violation of the NSL, they added.
Noting that the security authorities' recent fascist crackdown upon progressive activists is nothing but the death-bed frenzy of the anti-reunification forces to prolong their remaining days in reliance upon the NSL, they strongly demanded the release of the detained, the disbandment of the security mechanism and the abolition of the evil law.
At the end of the conference representatives of various organizations thrust a written protest to the supreme prosecutor's office.
