Espionage Acts of Foreign Intelligence Service Disclosed

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Espionage acts of a foreign intelligence service were disclosed and smashed some time ago in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The state security organ of the DPRK arrested the spies absorbed to the foreign intelligence service and intelligence agent who commanded them and seized their intelligence apparatuses.
As brought to light during the investigation into the case and the statements of the arrested spies, the foreign intelligence service absorbed some unsound people out of the visitors of the DPRK to third countries by the method of money and girls, threat and blackmail and turned them into its paid spies in an attempt to spy on important military objects and strategic key-points related with the supreme interests of the DPRK.
Their duty was to take photographs of an important military object in an area and confirm the spot co-ordinates and collect concrete data on the object with the help of the GPS after they received it. Their duty was also to obtain original texts of documents of the DPRK including the state and military secrets and the ideological tendencies of the people and, at the same time, to create illusion about the "free world" among senior officials and lure them out to third countries if possible.
After it infiltrated the hired spies into the DPRK, the foreign intelligence service sent an intelligence agent to the DPRK under the guise of a trader to command their activities on the spot. He carried with him a digital camera battery to which the GPS was attached.
He met the spies in secrecy and received results of their activities. And then, he handed over the GPS to them. As the headquarters of the intelligence service dictated, the agent gave to them a directive on collecting the secret on the object as early as possible.
He went to the area surrounding the military object under the pretext of the "spot survey" and directly commanded the activities of the spies.
The counter-intelligence officers of the DPRK who sharply watched every movement of the enemy arrested the spies and intelligence agent on a spot when they handed over the GPS and the collected data with each other.
According to the judgment of experts, the intelligence apparatus consists of up-to-date highly efficient GPS processor, Flash and contact plate antenna branded with SONY. In connection with the case, a press conference was held at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang on September 5.
An officer of the Ministry of State Security of the DPRK, to begin with, informed the reporters of the content of the case and a video-tape showing the written pledge of a spy hired to the foreign intelligence service, scenes showing him committing crimes and others.
Then reporters raised at the conference questions regarding the forms and methods of the ever-intensified anti-DPRK psychological war-fare of the enemy, dealing of the arrested criminals and others.

KCNA Blasts U.S. Justification of Its Forces' Presence in S. Korea

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the U.S. chief executive cited its forces' presence in south Korea as an example to justify its forces' presence in Iraq. He went the lengths of asserting that but for the U.S. involvement in the Korean war and its close relations with south Korea after the war millions of south Koreans would have lived, subject to oppression under the savage and tyrannical regime. This was a blatant provocation to the DPRK. This cannot but be sheer sophism aimed to justify the division of Korea and slander the socialist government in the DPRK.
September 8 marks the lapse of 62 years since the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea.
The U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea brought untold pain resulting from division as it was a product of the U.S. strategy to put the whole of Korea under its control. It is well known that the south Koreans have suffered horrible disasters and pain due to the U.S. forces' violence and atrocities.
The socialist government in the DPRK is displaying its advantages and vitality before the world as the days go by as it is a genuine popular government chosen and built by the Koreans themselves.
The piffle let loose by the U.S. chief executive to justify its forces' presence in south Korea and slander the government in the DPRK despite the above-said hard fact clearly proves that the U.S. has not yet discarded the way of thinking dating back to the Cold War era.
The DPRK will never allow the U.S. to justify its forces' presence in south Korea and impair the dignity and prestige of the government in the DPRK.
What should not be overlooked is that the hard-line conservatives in the U.S. are working hard to keep the DPRK listed as a terrorism sponsor in a bid to throw an obstacle in the way of improving the DPRK-U.S. relations, raving that north Korea is a dangerous country which has a big possibility of transferring nuclear technology to terrorist organizations.
In fact, the U.S. poses the greatest danger of nuclear proliferation as it keeps stepping up the modernization of nuclear weapons while testing nuclear weapons of the new generation.
No wonder, the world is greatly concerned about the dangerous nuclear program of the U.S.
The conservative forces of the U.S. are persistently pursuing the hostile policy toward the DPRK while making the profound confusion of the right and wrong. Such foolish act can be perpetrated only by those who are forsaken by the times as they seek confrontation, failing to face up to the trend of the times.
It is the consistent stand of the DPRK to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and achieve peace and stability on it.
Not only the unbiased international public but the U.S. public are becoming increasingly assertive that the U.S. administration make a switchover in its policy to improve relations with the DPRK.
The hard-line conservatives in the U.S. should refrain from fanning up the hostility toward the DPRK and chilling the atmosphere of the process to improve the DPRK-U.S. relations.

The appeal referred to the fact that Ri Myong Bak, presidential candidate from the GNP, is running amuck with bloodshot eyes to gratify his ambition for power while blustering that the north should dismantle its nukes first.
Saying that the entire progressive camp should resolutely shatter the anti-reunification moves of the U.S. and pro-U.S. conservative forces, the appeal called for vigorously carrying on the information activities to arm the people from all walks of life with the consciousness of national independence and great unity.
It also called upon the progressive camp to extensively wage the struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration so as to further stir up the desire for national reunification.
Meanwhile, the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils in its statement on August 22 asserted that the GNP should be disorganized at an early date and Ri Myong Bak should stop running for presidential election as he is ineligible for it.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the fifth anniversary of Kim Jong Il's famous work "Let Us Fulfill the Duty as Citizens of the DPRK with Civic Awareness".
In the work published on September 5, Juche 91 (2002), Kim Jong Il clarified that civic duty represents honor, conscience and obligation of a citizen and that a person remaining true to his civic duty is a genuine patriot.
The will to make the DPRK led by Kim Jong Il rich and powerful and glorify it forever by working heart and soul has become the noble consciousness of the Korean people as citizens, the article notes, and says:
The Korean people's noble civic awareness can be found in the fact that they hold in high esteem and devotedly safeguard their leader while devoting themselves to the national defence true to the Workers' Party of Korea's Songun policy.
It is also clearly manifested in the fact that they are devotedly and faithfully working for prosperity of the country at their posts entrusted by the Party.
The Korean people devote their all to performing their duty as soldiers and citizens living under the care of Kim Jong Il, missing him on a long journey of Songun.
To them, it has become the sacred duty as DPRK citizens to value the destiny of the country more than their own and dedicate themselves to defending the socialist homeland of Juche. Through the grim struggle of last more than ten years they have cherished it as their immovable faith that the country can be firmly defended and socialism glorified only when they remain true to the Songun policy of the Party.
It is the Korean people's unshakable creed that arms precisely represent the dignity of the country and they can live without candy, but not without bullets.

Full Play to Great Vitality of Theses on Socialist Education Called for

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- It is the great honor and pride of the country and its people that they have greeted a shining heyday in the development of socialist education, holding President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in an editorial dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the publication of "Theses on Socialist Education" by Kim Il Sung.
This work, published on September 5, Juche 66 (1977), comprehensively deals with the President's Juche-oriented idea and theory of education and great exploits and rich experience gained in leading the educational work and gives answers to theoretical and practical matters arising in the socialist education.
    The editorial says:
The President, basing himself on his noblest view on the younger generation, the view on future, turned the country into a land of learning and firmly laid all the groundwork for steadily developing the Juche-oriented education. This constitutes an immortal exploit of national historical significance performed by the President.
The President's Juche-oriented educational idea and undying feats have been successfully carried forward under the outstanding and tested leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Over the last three decades since the publication of the theses the advantages of the socialist educational system in the DPRK have been fully demonstrated and great achievements made in the education under the wise guidance of the WPK and the leader.
The DPRK has produced a large number of revolutionary intellectuals firmly equipped with the revolutionary world outlook and noble traits by strengthening the politico-ideological education true to the Party's educational policy. As a result, the politico-ideological might of the revolutionary ranks has steadily grown strong and those who cherish loyalty to the Party and the leader as their faith came to take charge of the important posts of socialist construction. It is something to be highly proud of that the young people who will carry forward the tradition of the revolution have been fully prepared politically and ideologically.
The intense loyalty to the leader, transparent faith in socialism, ardent love for the country and its people and noble sense of moral obligation towards comrades, strong organization and discipline, hard-working spirit and simplicity--these are the ideological and moral features of the Korean young people who have received the Juche-oriented education under the care of the Party.
The editorial calls for bringing about signal innovations in the education as required by the developing reality, true to the Party's idea of attaching importance to education and science, and thus successfully train the younger generation into dependable revolutionary intellectuals for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation and powerfully demonstrate the prosperity of Songun Korea.

Trend of Development of History Can Never Change

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- It is an inexorable law governing the development of history that humankind keeps to the road of independence, the road of socialism, although there may be temporary setback and turns and twists in the course of its advance, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article.
The trend of the development of history toward independence can never change because it is a law-governed requirement for the development of history and a desire common to the world people to accomplish the cause of independence, the article says, and goes on:
The struggle to realize independence of the popular masses is a just cause and the moves to suppress and stamp out it are reactionary acts going against history.
The imperialists' moves to stem the global trend toward independence are anachronistic and foolish acts in view of the development of history as well as in view of the historical position of the imperialists as old forces nearing their end and their vulnerability.
Global independence is a historical task of the present times and a just cause required by the law governing the development of history and by the desire and wish common to humankind.
Global independence should be realized to ensure independence of each country and nation and that of humankind.
This is the reason why global independence presents itself as a historical task common to humankind.
It is scientific truth that the cause of global independence reflecting the desire and wish of the world people and the requirements of the times will make steady progress for its accomplishment.
The course of historical development and the present reality eloquently prove that nothing can stem the trend toward independence.

Memorial Service for Korean Victims Held in Japan

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- A memorial service for the slain Koreans was held in front of the monument to the Korean victims in Tokyo on September 1, 84 years after the mass-killing of Koreans right after the great earthquake that occurred in Kanto of Japan in 1923.

The chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon said that 84 years have passed after the occurrence of the great earthquake in Kanto, but the Japanese authorities have worked hard to tamper with the history, whitewashing their past crimes and denying them, far from making an apology and compensation to the victims of the massacre.
Noting that the Japanese authorities have become vocal inciting bitterness towards the DPRK and phobia about Koreans in the Japanese society, thus creating a horrible atmosphere of suppression, the chairman called on the Koreans in Japan to decisively reject the anti-Korean racket of the right-wing reactionaries of Japan.
A resolution was read out after solidarity speeches were made by Japanese figures.
Similar meetings were held in Chiba and Saitama prefectures on the same day.
