Rodong Sinmun on Three Tasks before National Reunification

Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The tasks of attaching importance to the nation, defending peace and achieving unity serve as a banner of the patriotic struggle for reunification as they are based on the three principles of national reunification, programme common to the nation, which President Kim Il Sung put forward and the north and the south confirmed in the July 4 joint statement, stresses Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article.
    It goes on:
Holding fast to the stand of attaching importance to the nation is an essential requirement for applying and observing the principle of independence in the struggle for national reunification.
Attaching importance to the nation is a clear manifestation of the independent stand and independence is the core and lifeline in solving the reunification issue.
All the Koreans should strictly maintain the transparent stand of attaching importance to the nation despite whatever unexpected and complicated situation and cope with it. It is also necessary for them to categorically reject the outside forces' interference in the internal affairs of the nation and domination moves. And they should never tolerate the pro-U.S. sycophantic traitors cooperating with the outside forces while attaching greater importance to the outsiders than to the nation.
The struggle to defend peace is the just patriotic struggle to ease the tension and remove the danger of a war on the Korean Peninsula and thus create peaceful environment for national reunification.
All the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and overseas should turn out as one in the struggle for peace against war and decisively shatter the moves of aggression and war that threaten the Korean nation and harass peace on this land so as to defend the dignity and destiny of the nation. They should put the earliest possible end to the U.S. forces' continued presence in south Korea aimed at domination and aggression.
The struggle to achieve national unity represents the one to build the driving force for national reunification.
All the reunification movement organizations and Koreans from all walks of life in the north and the south and overseas should consolidate the unity with the June 15 All-Korean Committee, a nationwide organization for reunification movement, as a centre and steadily boost solidarity and alliance through the movement for reunification. The south Korean people should work harder to ostracize the reactionary conservative forces including the Grand National Party of south Korea who are making desperate efforts to reverse the June 15 reunification era to the era of confrontation in the past, flatly denying the idea of "By our nation itself."

Rodong Sinmun Brands U.S. as Nuclear Criminal

Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The United States is the very one which gave rise to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula by pursuing a policy of turning south Korea into a nuclear base and maneuvering for a nuclear war against the DPRK, states a Rodong Sinmun analyst Wednesday.
Noting that the U.S. is distorting truth and misleading world opinion, raising terrific outcries over someone's "nuclear issue" and "nuclear threat" while shelving its own nuclear crimes, the analyst says:
This is a shameless and gangster-like act reminding us of a guilty party filing the suit first.
The U.S. officially declared "the start of the nuclearization" of the U.S. forces in south Korea in 1957 and has since pushed it forward. Even now it is giving added spurs to the development of nukes while ceaselessly introducing nuclear war tools of the latest type, behind the curtain of its idle chatter about the settlement of the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula. And it continues presenting nuclear threats to the DPRK, shipping into south Korea ultra-modern nuclear war tools and staging massive war exercises.
All the historical facts clearly show that a solution to the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula entirely depends on the switchover of the U.S. policy towards the DPRK. In other words, the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula will be totally settled only when the U.S. gives up its hostile policy towards the DPRK and pulls all its nuclear war tools out of south Korea.
In the September 19 joint statement of the six-party talks the U.S. gave assurances that it had no nuclear weapons in south Korea and had no intention to attack or invade the DPRK with nukes or conventional weapons. So it should fully convince others by a verifiable method. Without this, it is shameless and ridiculous of it to spin out trash about someone's "threat" and mumble about the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Minju Joson on Abe Team Now in Dilemma

Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The opposition forces of Japan including the Japan Democratic Party are escalating their political offensive against the Abe team. They are busy presenting draft resolutions calling for reproving Abe and a non-confidence motion against the Abe Cabinet to the Diet in the wake of their submission of a draft resolution calling for reproving the corrupt Cabinet ministers to it, asserting that Abe should be held accountable for the unbroken occurrence of scandals and gaffes among Cabinet ministers in the Japanese political camp. Minju Joson today observes in a signed commentary in this regard:
The Abe team is now finding itself in a tighter corner day by day due to its wrong reactionary politics. This is a natural product of its wrong domestic and foreign policies.
The Abe forces are now driven into a dilemma at home and abroad by the scandal surrounding the report presented by the minister for Administrative Reforms on the income and outgo of political funds, the remarks made by the minister of Health, Labor and Welfare insulting women, the suicide committed by an incumbent minister, the outbursts let loose by the minister of Defense on the dropping of A-bombs and his resignation due to them, the loss of tens of millions of pension records and the passage of a resolution demanding the Japanese government to officially admit and apologize for the sexual servitude for the Imperial Japanese Army at the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee by an overwhelming majority, etc.
The public in Japan is becoming assertive that Abe step down as the president of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, if it suffers a defeat in the House of Councillors election. There is no future for the political charlatans engrossed in irregularities and corruption.

U.S. Allegation of "Southward Invasion" Refuted

Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The whole course of the Korean war irrefutably proved that with no amount of false propaganda could the U.S. imperialists deceive the world people and that they were the provocateurs of the Korean war, declares a Rodong Sinmun Wednesday.
The allegation of the U.S. imperialists about "southward invasion" is a thinly spun lie and fabrication, the article notes, and enumerates confessions and testimonies of the U.S. imperialist aggressors concerning the Korean war.
    The article goes on:
MacArthur, commander of the U.S. forces in the Far East and "commander of the U.N. forces" in the period of the Korean war, said when he was testifying on the outbreak of the Korean War at a hearing of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in May 1951: In a word, the north Korean army was deployed far from the 38th parallel. It was a deployment for defense, not for offensive.
Robert, head of the U.S. military advisory group in south Korea, told the pressmen toward the end of May 1950 that now there was no sign of the buildup of the north Korean army along the 38th parallel, according to the U.S. publication "U.S. and Korean War".
Early in May 1950 the then U.S. Ambassador in Seoul reported his country that there was scarcely any possibility of north Korea invading south Korea in the near future and Dulles, the warmonger, testified that he could not find any possibility of "southward invasion" from north Korea.
Even the U.S. intelligence bosses could not get a clue as to confirm "southward invasion" and the military inspection team of the "UN Commission on Korea" testified that it had not gotten any information on the "aggressive design" of north Korea. On the contrary, the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean bellicose elements were making full preparations in south Korea to invade the northern half of Korea in those days.
MacArthur testified at a hearing of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in May 1951: The south Korean army has put its supplies and equipment in areas not far from the 38th parallel. They did not build positions deep inside. The whole area from the 38th parallel to Seoul was a logistic base.
The then intelligence director of the command of the U.S. forces in the Far East confessed that the greater part of the Syngman Rhee army were actually deployed already along the 38th parallel when the outbreak of the war was at hand.
A staff officer of the above-said command, when he was a member of the U.S. military advisory group in Iran, told Iranian staff officers the Korean war was started by the south Korean army on the direct order of the U.S. command in Japan, according to the December 22, 1950 issue of the Indian paper "Cross Road."
