Actions for Abolition of NSL Vowed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Former chairpersons of the 3rd to 13th-term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) on June 30 reportedly issued a joint statement in which the south Korean students vowed to struggle to the last for the abolition of the "National Security Law (NSL)" and the dissolution of the "security investigation group".
Accusing the security authorities of arresting Jang Song Hoe, chairman of the 14th-term Hanchongryon, on the charge of violating the NSL, the statement noted that Jang energetically spearheaded the movement for independence, peace and reunification.
The students active in the patriotic movement for reunification deserve praises in the era of great national unity brought by the June 15 joint declaration, it stressed.
The pro-U.S. anti-reunification forces including the security authorities are no more than bubble as they are washed away by the strong tide of the Korean nation's movement for independent reunification, the statement said, adding that the traitors standing in the way of the advance of history are bound to meet its stern judgment.

Accusing the south Korean authorities and the U.S. of formally signing the agreement for the conclusion of the FTA that day, the participants charged that the south Korean authorities signed the paper pronouncing the death sentence which would take lives of people in utter disregard of the consequences to be entailed by the conclusion of the FTA.
Assailing the south Korean authorities for working hard to conclude the FTA which would force only subjugation and submission on the people, the participants vowed to wage a more dynamic struggle to check the conclusion of the FTA.

Conclusion of FTA Opposed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The All-People Movement Headquarters for Checking the south Korea-U.S. "Free Trade Agreement" reportedly called an emergency press conference in Seoul on July 1 as regards the fact that the United States and the south Korean authorities formally signed an agreement on the conclusion of FTA.
A press release read out at the conference noted that the south Korean authorities signed the agreement on June 30 despite the strong opposition of the people from all walks of life. The process of concluding the FTA, from the negotiations to final signature, is run through with illegality, arrogance and self-importance, it said.
Declaring the agreement totally null and void, it urged the "National Assembly" to make an immediate investigation into the "state policy" on the process of concluding the FTA and its contents and set a veto on the ratification of the agreement.
The politicians who supported the conclusion of the ruinous FTA would have to pay dearly for it, the release warned, stating that the headquarters would fight out in solidarity with the people from all walks of life.

Abe Group's Anti-Chongryon Campaign under Fire

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The Abe group has escalated its anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon (the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan) campaign. This is, however, nothing but a rash act of a political dwarf.
Minju Joson today says this in a signed commentary. It goes on:
The Abe gentries paint the unfriendly action taken against Chongryon as a "mere business issue related to the collection of bonds." But this is a political plot and criminal move to deprive Chongryon of the centre of its activities and destroy it. With nothing can they deny this hard fact.
No previous regimes of Japan have ever resorted to such frantic campaign to stamp out Chongryon as what the Abe group is now perpetrating. They refrained from such action as they were aware even a little of the fact that Chongryon is a legitimate overseas compatriots' organization of the DPRK whose mission is to protect the democratic national rights of Koreans in Japan, the victims of the criminal forcible drafting of Koreans committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past and their descendants, and they are legally and morally responsible for guaranteeing the activities of Chongryon on the basis of their recognition of its existence because of the historical background.
Nevertheless, the Abe gentries have rolled up their sleeves to carry out their operation to destroy Chongryon. This self-exposes that they are a group of villains and gangsters who do not feel any legal and moral responsibility for the crimes committed by Japan in the past.
Their action to deprive Chongryon of its building and plottage despite the fact that it has played the role of a mission of the DPRK in Japan is, in fact, a wanton infringement upon the dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK.
The Abe group is seeking a sinister aim through its anti-Chongryon campaign.
The escalated suppression of Chongryon is pushing the DPRK-Japan relations to the lowest ebb and driving the six-party talks to a collapse. It is the ulterior intention of the Abe gentries to stand in the way of the six-party talks and use them for meeting their political and strategic interests.

Japanese Media Blasted

Tokyo, July 3 (KNS-KCNA) -- Officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Kanto district on July 2 staged a protest action in front of the Tokyo head office of Asahi Shimbun publishing the weekly magazine "Aera" which had carried a forged article treating the senior officials of the Central Headquarters of Chongryon as "criminals" by raking together groundless "testimonies."
They branded it as a malicious human rights abuse that a media office which should cover unbiased reports carried a whopping lie full of prejudice and malice and tarnished the image of the Chongryon Central Headquarters and its senior officials.
That day they met with the Asahi official concerned and the reporter who wrote the false article and demanded they immediately withdraw the article seriously smearing the reputation of the Chongryon Central Headquarters and its senior officials and apologize for it.
