Foreign Ministry Spokesman on Solution to Issue of Frozen Funds

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA Monday as regards the settlement of the issue of the funds frozen in the Banco Delta Asia in Macao:
The funds frozen at the above-said bank were finally wired as demanded by the DPRK side, thus settling the controversial issue of the frozen funds.
It has thus become possible to use the de-frozen funds for improving the standard of people's living and humanitarian purposes, as planned.
The DPRK took a serious view of the issue of de-freezing the funds not because of that amount of money but the action taken to freeze the funds was a vivid manifestation of the hostile policy toward the DPRK.
This is also in line with the principle of "action for action" confirmed by the six parties. Now that the issue of de-freezing the funds has been settled, the DPRK, too, will start implementing the February 13 agreement on the principle of "action for action."
As part of it, the DPRK will hold a discussion on the suspension of the operations of nuclear facilities, its verification and monitoring with the working delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Pyongyang from June 26.

Important Day of DPRK Marked in Brazil

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The Brazil-Korea Friendship Association issued a bulletin on June 11 to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The bulletin noted that Kim Jong Il has shown deep concern for developing and enriching the Juche idea, the revolutionary idea of President Kim Il Sung, as required by the times and the development of the revolution.
He established the Songun political mode by developing in depth the idea and line of giving priority to military affairs, maintained by the President all his life, in keeping with the requirement of the times and the development of the revolution, it said.
He has strengthened the WPK into a party of invincible unity and cohesion, a party with solid mass foundation, the bulletin said, stressing that the WPK will as ever demonstrate its invincible might.

Kim Jong Il's Songun Leadership Feats Praised

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Political figures of Uganda and Palestine made public statements on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The chairman of the Kampala City Committee of the Ugandan National Resistance Movement in a statement on June 15 said that the might of the WPK is unthinkable without Kim Jong Il and he has consolidated the unity and cohesion of the Party as firm as a rock, setting an example for building a powerful and revolutionary party.
The director for Higher Education of the Palestine Liberation Organization in a statement on June 19 noted that for more than four decades since Kim Jong Il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee the WPK has been steadily strengthened into the party of President Kim Il Sung, an invincible party of unity and cohesion with solid mass foundation.
The DPRK's national strength and its might of single-minded unity are the precious fruition of Kim Jong Il's Songun leadership, he said, praising his Songun politics as an invincible treasured sword giving confidence in victory and courage to the world progressive people.

Truth behind "Northern Limit Line" Disclosed

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday carries an article contributed by a military commentator disclosing the truth behind the "northern limit line" and clarifying once again the principled stand of the DPRK on it in connection with the fact that the warlike forces of south Korea are perpetrating the intrusion into the waters of the north side in the West Sea of Korea not just as a mere provocation but are pursuing the brigandish purpose of bringing under control those waters invaded by them.
Pointing out that the "northern limit line" is an illegal ghost line, the article observes that the U.S. imperialist aggressor troops unilaterally drew the line inside the inviolable territorial waters of the DPRK after occupying south Korea under the helmets of the "UN forces".
    The article goes on:
The Korean Armistice Agreement (KAA) signed in July 1953 stipulated the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) on the ground and its extension in the East Sea of Korea but to everybody's regret it fell short of fixing the extension of the MDL in the West Sea of Korea.
The U.S. imperialists, utterly exhausted after sustaining an unprecedented defeat in the Korean war, ordered Clark, the then commander of the "UN forces", to fix the so-called "northern limit line" also known as "Clark line" in the West Sea of Korea in a bid to prevent south Korean fishermen from coming over to the north while checking traitor Syngman Rhee's reckless attempt at an "independent expedition to the north" and averting a war that may break out again accordingly.
The "northern limit line" was, therefore, a "final line for stopping the defectors to the north" and a boundary line banning the trespassing of ships unilaterally drawn by the commander of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces to meet Washington's self-justified interests.
It was precisely for this reason that the U.S. imperialists could not announce the existence of the "northern limit line" for such a long time, much less informing the DPRK side, one of the belligerent parties, of it.
The reason why the "northern limit line" is called an illegal ghost line can be explained by the fact that it was unilaterally drawn without any agreement reached between the two sides and is in breach of the KAA as well as the universally recognized law of the sea, the article notes, citing specific facts to prove it.
Saying that the assertion about the "northern limit line" is sheer sophism, the article goes on:
The south Korean authorities, steeped in flunkeyism and submission to the marrow of their bones, seek to attain their political and strategic aims to put an end to the June 15 era of reunification and aggravate the north-south relations in a bid to please their American master at any cost.
They are, at the same time, working hard to achieve their sinister aim to maintain the "northern limit line" come what may in utter disregard of the north-south agreement on fixing a boundary line of non-aggression in the West Sea, though the issue of establishing peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula is high on the agenda.
It is the fixed will of the Korean nation to certainly force them to stop claiming the "northern limit line". The south Korean authorities should clearly understand that their moves of straining situation in the West Sea of Korea under the pretext of the "northern limit line" would be as foolish an act as that of a robber claiming that other's yard belongs to him after drawing a demarcation with rotten straw rope without the owner's knowledge.
The army and the people of the DPRK will never remain an on-looker to south Korean naval warships' reckless intrusion and movement in the inviolable waters of the north side and the south Korean military authorities' backstage manipulation.
The south Korean authorities had better think twice over their behavior so that the patience and the repeated warnings of the Navy of the Korean People's Army may not touch off their resentment and just resolute actions.
They would be well advised to pay heed to the warning of the KPA Navy that it is fully ready to go into actions to mercilessly punish the intruders by sending them into the bottom of the sea any moment as all the targets, big or small, are accurately sighted by all its strike means whose hit probabilities are fully guaranteed in any event.

Struggle for Peace against War Called for

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- 57 years have passed since the U.S. ignited the war against the DPRK on the Korean Peninsula.
The foreign forces that provoked the disastrous war against the DPRK should never be allowed to repeat it. Peace is an ardent aspiration of the Korean nation and a vital issue decisive of the reunification of the country and the future destiny of the nation. Rodong Sinmun Monday urges this in a signed article. It goes on:
As already known, the U.S. is escalating its provocative war maneuvers against the DPRK while massively shipping latest weapons and war equipment into south Korea and its vicinity.
Taking advantage of the U.S. moves for a new war, the south Korean military is putting spurs to the war moves against the fellow countrymen.
The reality goes to prove that the reckless military moves of the U.S. and the south Korean bellicose forces may bring the same war disasters as what the Korean nation suffered in the 1950s.
The struggle for peace against war is a just patriotic struggle to defend the cradle for the nation and a task common to the nation to pave the way for the security, independent development and prosperity of the nation.
The banner of the struggle for peace against war calls upon all the Koreans at home and abroad to wage a nationwide struggle to defend peace against war irrespective of ideology, political view and religious belief.
The U.S. anachronistic hostile policy and moves for military confrontation with the DPRK are the basic factor of escalating the tensions on the Korean Peninsula and increasing the danger of war.
It is impossible to ensure durable peace on the peninsula nor is it possible to completely remove the danger of war from it as long as the U.S. military presence and domination over south Korea go on.
The struggle to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea is the most positive struggle for peace against war.

Appeal for Struggle Issued in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) reportedly issued an appeal for the struggle in the "June 15-August 15 period of joint movement of Pomchonghakryon" on June 15.
The appeal said that the will and spirit of the Koreans to reunify the country under the banner of "By our nation itself" has been fully displayed for the last seven years but the U.S. and the Grand National Party of south Korea have worked hard to block the torrent of the vigorous reunification movement in disregard of them.
It called on the youth and students to conduct the struggle against the GNP and the struggle for driving out the U.S. forces, who are chiefly responsible for the tense situation of the Korean Peninsula and a stumbling block in the way of developing inter-Korean relations, across south Korea in the period.

Additional FTA Negotiation Assailed

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The All-People Movement Headquarters for Checking South Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement of south Korea reportedly called a press conference in front of the building of the "Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade" in Seoul on June 21 and denounced the authorities for their humiliating additional negotiation for the conclusion of the FTA.
The speakers at the press conference said the additional negotiation was intended to promote only the U.S. interests in various fields including labor, environment and medicine and restrict the operation of south Korean enterprises under the pretext of "security" and "working conditions."
Noting that the recently settled FTA negotiation was full of poisonous provisions, they urged the authorities not to deceive the people with the drama of additional negotiation but start the negotiation all over again.

Rodong Sinmun on Revolutionary Soldier Spirit

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The revolutionary soldier spirit symbolizing and representing the Songun era serves as the most powerful weapon for firmly defending Korean-style socialism and dynamically pushing forward the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
The above-said spirit is the most transparent revolutionary spirit of devotedly defending the headquarters of the revolution and an indomitable one of firmly defending the socialist motherland from all hues of enemies' moves for aggression. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article, and goes on:
The revolutionary soldier spirit is the indomitable revolutionary spirit created in the grim period during which the sovereignty of the motherland and nation was threatened and Koreans were in the danger of being reduced to slaves of the imperialists.
Reflected in this spirit are the firm faith and will of the army and people of the DPRK to firmly defend the socialist nation. It also represents the firm stand that one should not lay down the arms of the working class, the rifle of the revolution, under any circumstances so long as imperialism exists on earth and the resolute fighting spirit of not tolerating any moves of enemies to infringe on Korea's ideology and system even a bit. Armed with the revolutionary soldier spirit, the army and people could build war deterrent powerful enough to firmly guarantee the right of the country and nation to exist and their sovereignty and fully demonstrate the national power of socialist Korea.
The revolutionary soldier spirit is the indomitable spirit encouraging them to work steady miracles and innovations in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation despite any trials and difficulties, the article notes, adding that this spirit has definitely turned into an all-people ideological sentiment as it has gripped the hearts of all the people across the country and inspired them to perform world-startling fresh miracles and exploits without interruption.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Nationwide Struggle for Peace on Korean Peninsula

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday calls for defending peace on the Korean Peninsula through a nationwide struggle.
In an editorial on the lapse of 57 years since the United States ignited a war for aggression against the DPRK in the 1950s, the paper says:
The Korean war was a war of aggression unleashed by the U.S. against the DPRK for the purpose of occupying the whole of Korea by force of arms and a war of brutal murder and destruction unprecedented in the world history of wars.
Under the wise guidance of the party and the leader, the officers and men of the heroic Korean People's Army and all the people of the country rose up like a mountain in the struggle to defend the motherland and fought a death-defying fight, thus giving a disgraceful defeat to the provocateurs and honorably defending the territorial integrity of the country, the sovereignty of the nation and the gains of revolution.
The U.S., forgetful of the lesson of the Korean war, has escalated the aggressive moves against the DPRK, persisting as ever in its design to dominate the whole of Korea even after the war.
No one makes a present of peace to the Korean Peninsula. It must be won by all the members of the nation living in this land by their own struggle. All the fellow countrymen living in this land should turn out as one man in the fight for peace against war, staking their destiny and the future of the nation, and oppose the moves for aggression and war and ensure a durable peace.
The fellow countrymen in the north and the south must never forget even a moment the bloody lesson of calamities suffered by them at the hand of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in Sinchon, Rogun-ri and other areas during the Korean war.
The south Korean people of all strata should wage a relentless struggle to put an end to the occupation of south Korea by the U.S. forces, the root cause of aggression and war, and never tolerate the reckless military rackets and acts of aggression inciting distrust and hostile feelings against the fellow countrymen and threatening peace of the country in collusion with foreign forces.

Rodong Sinmun on Ugly Color of U.S., Provoker of Korean War

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- With no artifice can the U.S. imperialists evade the responsibility for starting the criminal Korean war, declares Rodong Sinmun in a signed article Monday. Striping stark naked the ugly color of the U.S. imperialists as the provokers of the Korean war, the author of the article says:
The U.S. imperialists long ago designated Korea as a bridgehead for Asian and world supremacy. From the very day of their illegal occupation of south Korea, they projected a Korean war and picked up the DPRK as the first target of attack for realizing their ambition of world supremacy.
They made meticulous preparations for invading the DPRK, making the provocation of a Korean war as a fait accompli, vociferating that Korea is "a battlefield on which depends the success of the United States in Asia" and "a test ground of a showdown with communism".
The war plan finalized by the U.S. imperialists set the summer of 1950 as the time to start the war and envisaged that the battle posture of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces and the south Korean army would be further completed and the "security measures of the rear" be fully taken by that time. And it was expected that the south Korean army and the U.S. forces would be hurled into the Korean war in full scale from the very start and Japan be inveigled into the war when it would break out.
U.S. President Truman hastily dispatched Advisor to the State Department Dulles as a special envoy to south Korea in mid-June 1950 and sent Defense Secretary Johnson and Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Bradley to Tokyo to make them finally decide with Commander of the U.S. Forces in Far East MacArthur the date of the start of the war and its procedure.
To start the war by surprise and create a favorable atmosphere for shifting the responsibility for the outbreak of the war onto the DPRK, the U.S. imperialists staged an unheard-of farce of deception and camouflage on the eve of the war.
Having made full preparations the U.S. imperialists and the Syngman Rhee clique launched an all-out armed invasion of the northern half of the Republic at dawn on June 25, 1950 without declaring a war.
Thus the Korean war was a war of aggression meticulously prepared by the U.S. imperialists.

Book on History of Koguryo Published in DPRK

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The book "Story about Koguryo" is popular among experts and working people. The book introduces the history of Koguryo, which once existed as a powerful nation in the Orient for 1,000 years.
It consists of "Foundation of Koguryo," "Emperor's Country Looks down the World," "Yon Kae So Mun and His Son" and others. It deals with important events and famous generals of Koguryo on the basis of historical data.
It has an appendix on historical tradition of the Korean nation seen through the custom of the Koguryo people.
The book was written by Prof. and Dr. Jo Hui Sung, director of the History Institute under the Academy of Social Science. He told KCNA:
Koguryo once demonstrated its might in East Asia for nearly 1,000 years. But records of its history and its many material and cultural creations were severely destroyed by foreign invaders after its ruin. Therefore, the history of Koguryo had an eclipse like those of Paekje and Kaya which existed in the same time.
The book "Samguksagi" (the history of the Three Kingdoms--Koguryo, Paekje and Silla) refers a little to the history of Koguryo and the tomb murals belonging to Koguryo show part of its cultural development. Even the historical materials were deprived of and severely destroyed by the Japanese imperialist aggressors during their occupation of Korea in the beginning of the 20th century.
Japanese government-patronized historians extremely dwarfed the history of Koguryo, by writing that the Paleolithic era did not exist in Korea and Kojoson (Ancient Korea) was also established by a foreign exile.
But no one can erase the history of Koguryo which turned a brilliant page in the Korean history with a time-honored history, efflorescing culture and strong national power.
The book helps the readers get the history of Koguryo. .

Front-Line Musical Instruments, Fruit of Victorious Confidence and Optimism

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The Korean War (June 1950-July 1953) demonstrated the political and ideological superiority of the officers and men of the Korean People's Army (KPA) over the numerical and military technical superiority of the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being the "mightiness" and their satellite forces.
The story about the front-line musical instruments proves this well.
The KPA officers and men made the front-line musical instruments in the hard-fought battles for beating back the desperate attack of the invaders. And they, full of firm confidence in and optimism for victory, sang and danced with the instruments, thus striking terror into the minds of the enemies.
The defenders of Pakdal Pass in the eastern sector of the front were the first in making the instruments in October Juche 40 (1951). Their example was instantly followed by other units on the front.
The fighters made knives, plane irons and chisels with splinters of shells and wonderfully manufactured such musical instruments as kayagum (Korean harp), tanso (Korean bamboo flute), haegum (Korean four-string fiddle), violin, cello and guitar with the scotched trees and electric wire on heights by their own efforts and wisdom.
They played the musical instruments with firm confidence in future victory between battles, giving the enemies fear.
The programs which used the front-line musical instruments were highly appreciated at the art performance of all the combined units of the KPA in February 1952 and at the 6th general art performance contest of servicepersons in May 1953.
The musical instruments showed vividly the indomitable revolutionary fighting spirit, revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and mental and moral traits of the officers and men of the KPA who were faithful to President Kim Il Sung and constituted a powerful weapon in arousing the KPA servicepersons in the heroic exploits of wiping out the aggressors.

U.S. Imperialism, Provoker of Korean War

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Fifty-seven years have passed since the U.S. imperialists started the Korean War on June 25.
It was provoked intentionally by the U.S. imperialists for the realization of their wild ambition to dominate the world.
They occupied the southern half of Korea under the mask of "liberator" after World War 2, and made full preparations for a war against the DPRK in a bid to turn the Korean Peninsular into an advanced base for realizing their anti-socialist strategy and wild ambition to dominate the world.
They reinforced the U.S. forces present in south Korea in a big way and armed them with modern military equipment, while organizing the south Korean army and shipping large amounts of weapons and military hardware from rifles to various calibers of guns, tanks, armored cars, warships and aircraft into south Korea.
The "military aid" rendered to south Korea by the U.S. from 1945 to 1949 amounted for more than 1,000,000,000 U.S.$.
They committed vicious military provocations along the 38th parallel from 1947 to make full preparations for an aggressive war against the North and to cultivate real combat ability.
Such armed provocations numbered more than 2,600 in 1947 alone.
In June 1950, the US imperialists dispatched war servants to Japan and south Korea one after another to examine the preparations for the Korean War on the spot and take necessary measures.
After making scrupulous preparations, they started an overall armed offensive against the DPRK early on the morning of June 25, 1950 along the whole 38th parallel without a declaration of war.
And they mobilized the air force to indiscriminately bomb the front area and major areas of the northern part of Korea.
The Korean War unleashed by the U.S. imperialists was an out-and-out war of aggression which disclosed the ferocity and shamelessness of the U.S. imperialists.
