Struggle of Korean People for National Reunification Supported in Pakistan
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Political party and organizations of Pakistan fully support the stand taken by Kim Jong Il to achieve the reunification of the country and extend solidarity to the Korean people in their efforts to implement the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
The Socialist Party, the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization, the Trade Union Federation, the Peasants Committee, the Pakistan Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, the Lahore Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association said this in their joint statement issued on June 2 on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
The statement strongly demanded the U.S. administration give up its hostile policy toward the DPRK and pull its forces and nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction out of south Korea.
The statement expressed expectation and belief that the Koreans would surely achieve the reunification of the country at any cost under the banner of the joint declaration as they are a homogenous and harmonious nation with the same language and culture.
70th Anniversary of Victory in Pochonbo Battle Celebrated
Pochon, June 7 (KCNA) -- An oratorical, poem reciting and singing meeting of members of the Korean Democratic Women's Union was held in Pochonbo on Thursday to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Pochonbo battle.
Prior to the meeting, the participants laid floral baskets and bouquets before the statue of President Kim Il Sung and paid tribute to him.
Pak Sun Hui, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union, in her speech at the meeting called on all its members to work hard to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche that started in Mt. Paektu, always remembering the torch lit in Pochonbo.
Then followed the recital of the part of the long epic "Mt. Paektu" depicting the Pochonbo battle.
There was the presentation of art pieces including solo of immortal classic "Song of Sea of Blood", duet "Pochonbo, Land of Glory", quintet "Arirang that Resounded through Jiansanfeng". The performers sang high praises of the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk.
The orators in their speeches titled "Gunshot of Victory" and "Eternal Flames" noted that the flames which raged in the night sky of Pochonbo 70 years ago are illumining the way to be followed by the Korean people as they serve as eternal flames ensuring the victory of Korea of Juche with Kim Jong Il at the head of the Songun revolution.
At the end of the meeting officials and members of the union had a dancing party.
Rodong Sinmun on Corrupt Abe Cabinet
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- The Japanese Democratic Party and other opposition parties strongly attacked Abe and his Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, demanding the resignation of Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Matsuoka involved in the political funds scandals such as false declaration of the utility costs of the parliamentary office.
Matsuoka, writhing in agony over the issue of the accountability for political funds scandals, hanged himself to death on May 28.
Rodong Sinmun today observes in a signed commentary carried in this regard: This was the first suicide ever to be committed by an incumbent Cabinet member of Japan in the postwar period. The Abe Cabinet is a scandal-ridden Cabinet and a group of morally deficient guys and political imbeciles.
The commentary goes on:
Matsuoka's scandal, in reality, was on everybody's lip before he assumed the above-said office. Nevertheless, Abe appointed him as the minister and took much pain defending him, asserting he made a sufficient clarification of the scam. This suggests that Abe and Matsuoka were as like as two peas as they maintained the behind-scene relationship.
The weak and vulnerable points of the Abe Cabinet find a vivid expression in the disagreement on policies.
For example, Minister of Defense Kyuma and Foreign Minister Aso criticized the U.S. policy of presence in Iraq. This and other facts go to prove that the Abe government lacks consistency in its policies and there are many contradictions in the administration of the government.
The Abe government is ill-famed for tampering with Japan's history.
When Abe made reckless remarks denying the coercive recruitment of "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army in March, they were echoed by the foreign minister and other members of the Abe Cabinet. These were the most shameless outbursts distorting history ever to be let loose by any government authorities.
The Abe Cabinet is totally subservient to the U.S.
The Abe forces are kowtowing to and serving their American master in a bid to prolong their political careers, stay long in power and realize their militarist ambition.
They are steeped in the bitterness toward the DPRK to the marrow of their bones.
They are working hard to internationalize the "issue of abduction" which had already found a solution in a bid to isolate the DPRK and evade the responsibility for the redemption of Japan's past crimes. They are, at the same time, applying extreme sanctions against the DPRK in a foolish attempt to stifle it.
The incompetent and weak Abe government is committing fatal errors and mistakes.
It is the tragedy of history and shame on the Japanese people that such corrupt and wicked regime exists in their country.
Plan for All-out Struggle against FTA Announced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- The "Central Association of Agricultural Managers of south Korea" called a press conference in Seoul on June 4 at which it made public a plan for an all-out struggle for checking the conclusion of the FTA between south Korea and the U.S., according to the Internet newspaper of south Korea Thongil News.
The organization declared that it would hold "an all-out rally for checking the conclusion of south Korea-U.S. FTA" at the plaza of the Seoul City Hall on June 20 for the total nullification of the agreement made at the negotiations for the conclusion of FTA and against the ratification of it by the "National Assembly."
The organization stressed that it would hold "a ceremony of kicking off a long journey of the organization for checking south Korea-U.S. FTA " in Changwon, South Kyongsang Province on Thursday and launch a travel to all parts of south Korea to make the all-out rally a success.
It also declared that it would stage intensive actions for checking the conclusion of FTA including the action to pass the strong opposition of the people to the FTA ratification by the "National Assembly" on to the political camp in Youido, Seoul on June 18.
Rodong Sinmun on National Reunification
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- The cause of the country's reunification of the Korean nation is a just patriotic cause to rejoin the broken vein of the nation divided into north and south and establish national sovereignty on a nation-wide scale by putting an end to the tragedy of national division forced by outside forces, says Rodong Sinmun in an article Friday.
Today our nation has not yet established national sovereignty on a nation-wide scale due to the U.S. occupation of south Korea which has lasted for more than 60 years, the author of the article notes, and continues:
National division has blocked the unified development of the fellow countrymen who had lived as one nation, taking pride in a long history spanning fifty centuries, and brought immeasurable misfortunes and sufferings to the Korean nation. If the country failed to be reunified in our generation, the new generation also would taste the tragedy of national division and even the national commonness of the north and the south would disappear, resulting in the permanent bisection of the Korean nation, a homogeneous nation.
The Korean nation, no matter what the cost, should drive the U.S. imperialist aggression forces out of south Korea and thus write finis to the tragic and disgraceful history of national division and defend and glorify the dignity and honor of one country and one nation. The struggle for the country's reunification to achieve this goal is the most urgent task and the greatest patriotic movement in the nation's history.
All the fellow countrymen in the north, the south and overseas, however persistent and desperate the maneuvers of the U.S. imperialists and their followers may be, should wage a dynamic struggle to invariably implement the June 15 joint declaration and, in this course, should promote the nation's reconciliation and unity and powerfully demonstrate the spirit of the nation burning with a single mind of patriotism for reunification.
Kim Yong Nam Meets Outgoing Cuban Ambassador
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a conversation with Cuban Ambassador to the DPRK Ruben Perez Valdes at the Mansudae Assembly Hall when the latter paid a farewell call on him Friday.

Public Welfare Promoted in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Efforts to ensure social insurance and social security systems on a high level are being exerted in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The example of the Hamju County Farmers' Rest Home has been generalized in all the other rest centers throughout the country with success. The Sokwangsa Rest Home and the recuperation home attached to the Kum Song Tractor Plant are being renovated to suit the requirements of the Songun era.
A great care is being shown to affording convenience in the life of the disabled soldiers, war veterans and women and promoting their health.
The houses for the aged, houses for the handicapped without kith or kin and convalescent hospitals for disabled soldiers are being facelifted at the state expense in Pyongyang, Jagang Province, South Hamgyong Province and other areas.
Subsidies are paid in time to the special disabled soldiers for their health promotion and the preferential supply is being done to their protectors across the country.
The special subsidy system for the women with many children is in force on a high level.
Undok Health Complex in Onchon County
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- The Undok Health Complex in Onchon County is a comprehensive welfare service center based on the Phyongnam Spa.
The spa water, with a relatively long history, is potent for the treatment of various kinds of diseases including arthritis.
The complex consists of the main building and bath-building.
The temperature of the bath water is 55-56 degrees centigrade, which is suitable for medicinal treatment.

Kuryong Falls, One of Three Famous Falls
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Korea, a land of scenic beauties, is endowed with many waterfalls.
Kuryong (Nine-Dragon) Falls is one of three famous waterfalls in the country.
There are in Mt. Kumgang Sibi Falls, Pibong Falls and Okyong Falls besides the Kuryong Falls.
The falls located in Kuryong Ravine of Outer Kumgang, a part of the Mt. Kumgang in Kosong County, Kangwon Province presents a mysterious landscape in harmony with Sangpal Pools (upper eight pools), Kuryongdae and Kuryong Pool.
The name of the Kuryong Falls was derived from the story that the long falling water and water vortex in the dark-blue pool look like twisting dragons.
The falls coming down between two peaks on the steep cliffs of Kuryongdae ranging from Kujong Peak is 70 meter high.
There are Sangpal Pools on the upper part of the falls and the Kuryong Pool below it. The pool is 13 meters deep.
On the opposite side of the falls, there stands the Kuryong Pavilion for the rest of the visitors.
Floral Tribute Paid to Revolutionary Martyr Choe Hyon
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were laid before the bust of revolutionary martyr Choe Hyon at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong on Friday on the occasion of the centenary of his birth.
A wreath from General Secretary Kim Jong Il was seen standing before the bust of Choe Hyon.
Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Kim Il Chol, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Yong Rim, officials of the armed forces organs, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, working people in Pyongyang and bereaved families of Choe Hyon.
Also placed there were wreaths and bouquets in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, national institutions and party, power and economic organs in Pyongyang.
Written on the ribbons of the wreaths were letters "In Memory of Revolutionary Martyr Comrade Choe Hyon".
The participants paid silent tribute to Choe Hyon.

Gabinete japones empantanado en escandalos, critica Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, 8 de junio (ATCC) -- Recientemente, el Partido Democratico de Japon y los otros opositores criticaron fuertemente a Abe y al gobernante Partido Democratico Liberal demandando la renuncia del ministro de Agricultura, Silvicultura y Pesqueria, Matsuoka, que estuvo involucrado en el desfalco de fondos politicos, inclusive el caso de declaracion fraudulenta de los gastos para el mantenimiento de la oficina de los parlamentarios.
Muy angustiado por las responsabilidades que le pesarian, Matsuoka se suicido ahorcado el pasado 28 de mayo.
A traves de un comentario individual, el diario Rodong Sinmun recalca este viernes que este hecho resulto el primer caso de suicidio de un ministro despues del fin de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Caracterizan al gabinete de Abe la corrupcion, el escandalo, la bajeza moral y la incapacidad politica, adelanta el comentarista y prosigue:
Los casos de corrupcion de Matsuoka fueron cuestionados por los habitantes ya antes de que el asumiera la jefatura de esa cartera.
Esto insinua la vinculacion estrecha entre el y Abe en los casos de corrupcion.
La vulnerabilidad y los defectos del gabinete de Abe se destacan en la incoherencia de sus politicas.
El ministro de Defensa Kyuma y el canciller Aso criticaron la politica de Estados Unidos sobre la ocupacion de Iraq, lo cual muestra las contradicciones en la gestion de asuntos gubernamentales por parte del ejecutivo de Abe.
Por otra parte, tan pronto como Abe se negara en marzo ultimo al caracter coercitivo del crimen de las "consoladoras sexuales" para el viejo ejercito nipon, el canciller y otros altos funcionarios del gabinete de Abe soltaron simultaneamente las palabras encaminadas a tergiversar la verdad de esta esclavitud sexual.
Esta conducta sumamente atrevida no se cometio en ningun otro gobierno anterior.
De otro lado, la banda de Abe adula y sigue a ciegas a su amo estadounidense para mantener su precaria vida politica y el poder y satisfacer su ambicion militarista.
Ademas, partiendo de su arraigada hostilidad a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, pretende aislarla al internacionalizar el ya resuelto "problema del secuestro" y liberarse de su responsabilidad por liquidar el pasado criminal en detrimento del pueblo coreano.
Igualmente, intenta neciamente amenazar a la RPDC con su extremada campana de sancion.
Significa una tragedia de la historia y la verguenza del pueblo japones la misma aparicion de este ejecutivo tan corrupto, incapaz, vulnerable y repugnante.
Rodong Sinmun llama a la lucha patriotica por soberania nacional
Pyongyang, 8 de junio (ATCC) -- La reunificacion de la patria es la justa causa patriotica de la nacion coreana para reanudar su vaso sanguineo dividido en el Norte y el Sur y establecer su soberania en todo el pais al poner fin a la tragedia de division nacional impuesta por las fuerzas foraneas.
Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 8 y continua:
Debido a la ocupacion del Sur de Corea por Estados Unidos que perdura mas de 60 anos, los coreanos no logran su soberania nacional en todo el pais.
La division del pais detiene el desarrollo unificado de los coreanos, que han vivido como una sola nacion enorgulleciendose de su historia de 5 milenios, y causa incontables desgracias y sufrimientos a toda la nacion.
@Si no se cumple esta causa en la generacion de hoy, las generaciones venideras sufriran tambien la tragedia de division nacional y desapareceran hasta la idiosincrasia comun del Norte y el Sur, lo cual traera la escision perenne de la homogenea nacion coreana.
Los coreanos deben expulsar a toda costa del Sur de Corea a las tropas agresoras norteamericanas para dar fin a la tragica y vergonzosa historia de division nacional, defender y exaltar la dignidad y el honor de su sola patria y su sola nacion. Por tanto, la lucha por la reunificacion de la patria deviene la tarea mas apremiante de nuestra nacion y la lucha patriotica de mayor importancia.
Por muy tesoneras y perversas que sean las maniobras de los imperialistas norteamericanos y sus fuerzas satelites, todos los coreanos del Norte, el Sur y en ultramar deben desplegar con vigor la lucha por ejecutar invariablemente la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio. En ese proceso tienen que lograr la reconciliacion y la unidad nacionales y poner de pleno manifiesto el impetu de la nacion coreana caracterizada por el fuerte patriotismo pro-reunificacion.
