Accusing the "government" of justifying the troop dispatch under the pretext of "economic interests", ignoring the unanimous demand of the people from all walks of life, the statement termed the troop dispatch to Iraq a criminal act of participating in the war of aggression by the U.S. which threatens world peace, talking about "spread of democracy".
If the "government" extends the term of the presence of troops in Iraq, it will meet stronger denunciation by the world community as an accomplice in the war, it warned, demanding an immediate withdrawal of the south Korean troops from Iraq.

Slogans of Anti-U.S., Anti-GNP Struggle Published in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in south Korea reportedly published slogans of the struggle against the U.S. and the Grand National Party on May 11 on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Kwangju Popular Uprising.
The slogans underscored the need to inherit the May 18 spirit to bring an end to the GNP, a fascist party, and called upon all the people to turn out in the struggle to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea.
The slogans also called for shattering the attempt of the GNP, a hurdle lying in the way of achieving peaceful reunification and prosperity, to come to power, and winning victory in the "presidential elections" through a great alliance against the conservative forces and thus bringing about independent reunification and ushering in the greatest heyday of the nation.

U.S. Branded as Chief Pursuer of Nuclear War

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The Bush administration has drawn up a plan to produce 125 new nuclear weapons every year and, for this purpose, decided to set up a combined centre for the production of nuclear materials.
Noting that the establishment of the centre is intended for the development of more powerful and effective nuclear warheads, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Wednesday says:
Planning to make it allowed to use nuclear weapons like conventional weapons in all wars, the Bush group intends to make smaller nukes of formidable explosive power and let the U.S. forces use them easily in any place at any time.
This convincingly proves that the United States is the very one bringing a new Cold War and a nuclear war to the international arena.
The nuclear strong-arm policy is the backbone of the aggressive military strategy of the U.S. imperialists and, prompted by it, they are zealously hastening the work to make nukes modern, smaller and conventional.
Their ultimate aim is world supremacy and its main means is a nuclear war. In other words, they seek to gain an unchallenged nuclear advantage and contain "adversaries" by the nuclear strong arm and thus gratify their ambition for world supremacy.
The frantic nuclear war moves of the U.S. aimed at world supremacy backed by strength are the catalyser accelerating the global nuclear arms race and creating the danger of a thermonuclear war.
The U.S., the most heinous nuclear criminal, has neither qualification nor face to say this or that about other's "nuclear issue".
The Bush administration should renounce their reckless moves to fan a nuclear war and nuclear arms race, instead of raising outcries over the fictitious "nuclear threat" of other countries.

Japan's Energy Diplomacy Debunked

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- Japanese Prime Minister Abe, some time ago, made a trip to Mideast countries, leading a large economic and trade delegation.
In major oil-producing countries in the Mideast, he agreed to provide them with fund and technology in exchange for a long-term and preferential oil supply.
In this regard a Minju Joson analyst Wednesday says:
Lurking behind the Mideast junket of Abe is an important political purpose transcending economic issues.
The oil resources are rapidly drying up worldwide and the Mideast situation has become unstable. Such being the situation, the powers are locked in a fierce competition for protecting their interests, vying with each other to meddle in the Mideast issues. Japan feels deeply uneasy and concerned over this. It is overwhelmed with the apprehension that, at the slightest slip, it may lose its voice and influence in the Mideast region and get not a drop of oil from there.
For this reason, Japan is craftily scheming to allure the Mideast countries with fund and technology as the bait and tightly bind them to economic fetters and thus draw water to its mill.
Timed to coincide with this, the Japanese minister of Economy and Industry, leading a large delegation of businessmen including energy company bosses, flew to Kazakhstan to discuss the issue of economic cooperation.
Japan is very covetous of the inexhaustible uranium resources of Kazakhstan. What Japan seeks is to monopolize oil and nuclear energy resources including uranium and take the post of the leader of Asia at any cost.
With nothing can the Japanese reactionaries cover up their sinister intention to seize the major regions of strategic resources under the veil of energy diplomacy and put into practice its aggressive policy of unbridled looting.
