Kim Jong Il's Work Published in Democratic Congo
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- The famous work of Kim Jong Il "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" was brought out in booklet by the Congo New Media Publishing House of Democratic Congo.
The work published on Aug. 4, Juche 86 (1997) deals with the undying exploits performed by Kim Il Sung for national reunification, formulates the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo as the three charters for national reunification and indicates the tasks and ways for accomplishing the cause of national reunification based on them.
A book releasing ceremony was held at the publishing house on April 6.
Day of Sun Commemorated in Egypt
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- The Egypt-Korea Friendship Association released information bulletin "Great Man President Kim Il Sung" on April 11 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
The bulletin said that April 15 this year is the significant Day of the Sun, the 95th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung. It dealt with the President's ideological and theoretical and leadership exploits and his personality as the great man who impressed and fascinated all people with boundless love and noble virtues.
It introduced the Juche idea and Songun idea fathered by the President.
Thanks to the Juche idea and Songun idea, the Korean revolution has steadily advanced along the road of victory despite unprecedented adversities and complicated situation and progressive humankind came to possess a powerful ideological and theoretical weapon for national liberation and the struggle against imperialism, it said, and continued:

President of Equatorial Guinea Supports Korean People
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, president of Equatorial Guinea, expressed support for the Korean people in their just cause of achieving the peaceful reunification of the country by pooling the efforts of all Koreans free from outsiders' interference when he met the DPRK ambassador to Equatorial Guinea who paid a farewell call on him on April 12.
The president wished the Korean people fresh success in their efforts to achieve national reunification and prosperity.
He stressed that he can never forget the day when he was received by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il when visiting the DPRK 15 years ago.
Kim Il Sung Praised by Bangladesh Party Leader
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- Dilip Barua, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist-Leninist), praised President Kim Il Sung as genuine leader of the Korean people and other revolutionary people of the world struggling for independence in his statement released on April 15 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
The DPRK has turned into a powerful socialist country and the socialist forces and anti-imperialist forces for independence have grown stronger in the international arena thanks to the brilliant ideological and theoretical activities and revolutionary practices of the President, he said, noting that the great exploits performed by the President in carrying out the cause of independence of the popular masses will shine long with the history of humankind.

Russian International Fund Delegation Interviewed
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- The members of the delegation of the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of Arts for the Century" who had participated in the unveiling ceremony of the monument "Protectors of Arts for the Century" bearing the august names of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il were interviewed by media reporters here on April 15.
Oleg Oleinik, president of the fund who was leading the delegation, said the monument "Protectors of Arts for the Century" erected in high praise of the undying exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il represented reverence of the Russian people for them.
As shown by the letters inscribed on the monument, the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of Arts for the Century" awarded several times the supreme orders and honorary titles of the fund to the great leaders of Korea, he said, adding: This is the high appreciation of their distinguished exploits.
Pyotr Stronski, designer of the monument, said the august names of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il would be permanently inscribed on the monuments to be erected in different parts of the world.
Chairman of the Experts Council of the Fund Yuri Kovelenov noted that Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il made immortal contributions to the independent and creative development of humankind and the boosting of the friendly relations between the Russian and Korean peoples. Russian Fund Delegation Hosts Reception
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- The delegation of the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of Arts for the Century" hosted a reception at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel on April 16 after the unveiling ceremony of the monument "Protectors of Arts for the Century" bearing the august names of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

Performance Given by Russian Artistes
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- A performance was given by the Russian artistes participating in the 25th April Spring Friendship Art Festival at the Ponghwa Art Theater on April 16.
Among the audience were Kim Yong Nam, Ri Yong Mu, Choe Thae Bok and officials concerned and officials in the fields of literature and arts and media and working people here.
Also among the audience were Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Valery Sukhinin and staff members of the embassy here.
The Russian art groups comprise many international concours winners and other famous artistes. They displayed high artistic talents in the performance.
The performance began with the chorus of the immortal revolutionary paean "Song of General Kim Il Sung" presented by artistes of the Moscow State Academy Chamber Chorus of Russia. It was conducted by Minin Vladimir, people's artiste of the Soviet Union and state prize winner.

Artistes of the "Vendelya" Folk Dance Troupe of Russia and the Tap dancers troupe of Russia staged dances "Tambourine Dance of Voronezh Region", "Semyonovna" and "Katyusha" and other numbers and the Bayan Orchestra "Ad Libitum" named after Gnesin of Russia, the "Pereprava" musical company of Russia and a famous artiste and her party of the Moscow Grand Theatre colorful numbers and world famous songs.

Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- Joint performances of the 25th April Spring Friendship Art Festival were given at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre, the Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the Pyongyang Circus Theatre here on Monday.
They were appreciated by senior party, army and state officials, the chairpersons of friendly parties, officials of party and power bodies, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, heroes and persons of merit and artistes and working people in the city.

April Spring Friendship Art Festival Successfully Goes on
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- The 25th April Spring Friendship Art Festival is going on with success in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The curtain of the first festival was raised in Pyongyang in April Juche 71 (1982) by the Japan-Korea Society for Music and Art Interchange, "Tiempo Nuevo" Art Troupe of Peru and artistes from various other countries.
More than 18,000 artistes from different countries of the world have taken part in the festival so far to give over 1,500 art performances.
They have put on the stage the art pieces they created with deep reverence for President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, national music, dance and acrobatic pieces.
Festivals had reached their acme when the President appreciated the joint performances and had photo sessions with the festival participants.
Though the President demised, the festival has continued in a more significant way in reflection of the ardent reverence of the world people for him.
Put on the stage of the festival for the year of Juche 91 (2002) were colorful numbers that world-famous art troupes from China, Russia, Egypt, Mongolia, Italy, Rumania and other countries had prepared with sincerity to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of the President.

Pleasure Ground Newly Built in Mangyongdae
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- A pleasure ground on Konyu Islet in Mangyongdae has been built to be opened to the public on the occasion of the significant Day of the Sun.
The islet is located on the River Taedong near Mangyong Hill.
The islet is a historical place associated with patriotic activities of Kim Ung U, great-grandfather of President Kim Il Sung, who participated in the battle for sinking the U.S. aggressors' ship General Sherman, and grandfather Kim Po Hyon.
The total area of the pleasure ground covers 17 hectares.
A floating bridge is laid between Tongrim Pier and Konyu Islet so that the visitors to Mangyongdae may relax themselves in the ground.
Cars can go in and out freely through the bridge.
More than 20,000 trees of good species were newly transplanted in the pleasure ground, resembling a forest. There are facilities for playing sport and folk amusement games including basketball, volleyball, Korean wrestling, Korean chess and yut and a boating ground in the pleasure ground.
There are open-air tables set up in various places. The holiday-makers can enjoy a pleasant meal time, viewing the landscape of the river banks as if they are on a sightseeing boat.
What is conspicuous in the pleasure ground is a large artificial pond and angling site.
Visitors may angle for carp and silver carp at the angling site and cook the fishes caught by themselves according to their appetite.
An open-air stage for performance of art pieces is seen in the wood of aspen trees.
Friendly Joint Meeting Held
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- A friendly joint meeting with the delegations and delegates of the Juche idea study organizations was held in Mt. Myohyang on Tuesday.
Present there were the director-general of the International Institute of the Juche Idea and delegations and delegates of the Juche idea study organizations from different countries on the visit to the DPRK on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
The chairman and members of the Korean Social Scientists Society were on hand.

Talks between DPRK and Russian Parliamentary Groups Held
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- Talks were held between the delegation of the DPRK-Russia friendship parliamentary group of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the delegation of the Russia-DPRK friendship parliamentary group of the State Duma of Russia at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on April 17.
Present at the talks from the DPRK side were the members of the DPRK delegation headed by Hong So Hon, chairman of the DPRK-Russia friendship parliamentary group, and from the Russian side the members of the Russian delegation led by Chairman of the group Chilgichi Chimit Ondar and Valentin Chekulaev, councilor of the Russian embassy here.

Kim Jong Il Sends Educational Aid Fund and Stipends to Korean Children in Japan
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il sent educational aid fund and stipends amounting to 238,000,000 yen to the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) for the democratic national education of the children of Koreans in Japan on the occasion of the 95th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
The educational aid funds and stipends sent so far by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il to Chongryon in 153 installments total 46,006,223,000 yen.

Pyongyang, 17 de abril (ATCC) -- Tuvieron lugar la vispera en el Gran Teatro de Pyongyang, el de Pyongyang Este y el Circo de Pyongyang las funciones conjuntas en el marco del XXV Festival Artistico de Amistad Abril en Primavera.
Las vieron los cuadros del partido, el ejercito y el Estado, presidentes de partidos amigos, funcionarios de instituciones del partido y el Poder, organizaciones sociales, ministerios y organos centrales, heroes, personas ameritadas, artistas y trabajadores capitalinos.

Acondicionado nuevo parque de diversiones en Mangyongdae
Pyongyang, 17 de abril (ATCC) -- En ocasion del Dia del Sol (15 de abril, cumpleanos del Presidente Kim Il Sung), se inauguro un nuevo parque de diversiones de 17 hectareas en la isla Konyu de Mangyongdae.
Si alguien la divisa desde la colina Mangyong, le parecera un barco flotante en el rio Taedong.
Esa isla es un lugar historico donde Kim Ung U, bisabuelo del Presidente Kim Il Sung, dejo sus huellas de batalla antiyanqui al naufragar el barco invasor norteamericano "Sherman". Ademas, el abuelo del Presidente, Kim Po Hyon, desplego aqui una lucha patriotica.
Para facilitar el acceso al parque de los visitantes a Mangyongdae, se construyo un puente colgante desde el muelle de Tongrim hasta la isla Konyu, por donde pueden transitar libremente tambien los vehiculos.
En esta zona de recreo esta acondicionada una maravillosa vegetacion compuesta por 20 mil arboles de buena variedad plantados recientemente.
Esta dotada de las facilidades para juegos deportivos como baloncesto, voleibol, Sirum (lucha tradicional de Corea), ajedrez, Yut (juego tradicional) y para diversiones folcloricas, aparte de una lagunita para el paseo en bote.
En las mesas de comida instaladas en muchas partes de la isla los visitantes podran probar lo delicioso de sus platos disfrutando del panorama del rio Taedong como si estuvieran a bordo de un barco en plena navegacion.
Lo que llama especial atencion es una gran laguna y el sitio de pesca.
En el segundo los visitantes pueden cocinar sus platos favoritos con carpas y carasios pescados con sus propias manos.
En la escena al aire libre rodeada de alamos es posible ofrecer funciones artisticas de diferentes generos.
