U.S. and Japanese Reactionaries' Moves for Establishing MD under Fire

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- It is preposterous for the U.S. imperialists to raise a hue and cry over "missile threat" from the DPRK and assert that they would expand and push forward the plan for the establishment of the missile defence system (MD) to "protect" themselves and their allies.
    Rodong Sinmun Monday observes this in a signed commentary denouncing the U.S. and Japanese reactionaries for their adventurous moves to build MD.
    The commentary goes on:
    Needless to say, such moves are grave provocative acts to hamstring the efforts to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, speed up the preparations for a new war and spark off a hot arms race in Northeast Asia.
    The ruling quarters of Japan seized by their ambition to have MD in place are working with bloodshot eyes to realize it under the pretext of "threat" from someone.
    No country would remain a passive on-looker to the above-said moves of the U.S. and Japan as they are bound to spark off a new arms race. The DPRK has already warned that the establishment of MD by the U.S. and Japan is a move hostile to the DPRK and a grave threat to it.
    Nevertheless, the U.S. and Japanese reactionaries are desperately pushing forward their moves to bolster their nuclear and missile forces in a bid to disturb the peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and trigger off an arms buildup in Northeast Asia and the rest of the world.
    By pushing ahead with the moves for MD targeted against the DPRK, the U.S. and Japan are flagrantly breaching the spirit of the agreement of the six-party talks, which calls for refraining from any act of threatening other party. Now is the time for the countries concerned to exercise self-restraint in their dangerous military actions.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Election as Chairman of NDC of DPRK Editorially Observed

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- Today the army and people of the DPRK are significantly celebrating the 14th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.
    Rodong Sinmun today in an editorial dedicated to the anniversary says that Kim Jong Il is a great statesman of general type who, possessed of rare qualities and personality as an illustrious commander born of heaven and outstanding political caliber, has led the party, state and the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK for several decades, performing undying exploits to shine long in history.
    Referring to the fact that he has regarded it as a basic issue of protecting the destiny of the country and the nation and a lifeline of the revolution to hold President Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the father of socialist Korea and materialize his idea and cause and devoted his utmost efforts and wisdom to settling it over the past more than a decade, the editorial goes on:
    The historical course in which he has led the DPRK is an immortal history in which he put the national power centered on the military power on the highest stage.
    He has made a ceaseless long journey for Songun leadership to energetically guide the army to decisively intensify the party political work in itself and step up its military and technological preparations. This wise leadership has served as a main source which made it possible for the Korean People's Army to grow to be an invincible revolutionary army and the first line death-defying corps defending the country.
    Under his leadership a solid all-people and nationwide defence system has been established and the nation's defence industry has developed to be a strong self-reliant one capable of modernizing the whole army, putting all the people under arms and fortifying the whole country on a high level.
    The historical course of his leadership represents a history of creation and changes as it has ushered in the dawn of building a great prosperous powerful nation.
    By pursuing the unique Songun policy he has augmented the DPRK's might a thousand times and, on this basis, brought about great changes in all fields of the revolution and construction.
    Immensely rosy is the future of Songun Korea having Kim Jong Il as supreme leader of the state and the revolutionary armed forces.

Dancing Parties of Young People Held

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- Dancing parties of youth and students were held in different parts of the country on Monday to mark the 14th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.
    Dancing grounds in Pyongyang, Phyongsong, Sariwon, Hamhung, Chongjin and other cities and parts of the country were crowded with young people from all walks of life carrying their unbounded reverence for Kim Jong Il.
    At the plazas of the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Monument to Party Founding, the April 25 House of Culture and Pyongyang Indoor Stadium and other places of Pyongyang, youth and students merrily danced to the tune of such songs as "Confetti of Best Wishes" and "Let's Sing of Our Pride in Being under the Guidance of the General."
    The dancing parties vividly manifested the revolutionary zeal and determination of youth and students to take the lead in upholding Kim Jong Il's Songun leadership with loyalty and fully display the wisdom and valor of young vanguard in the on-going worthwhile drive for the prosperity of the country.

Rodong Sinmun on Undying Exploits of Kim Il Sung in Leading National Reunification Movement

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- The whole life of President Kim Il Sung was the noblest and most brilliant life in which he devoted his all to the country and the nation and performed immortal, great exploits in the cause of the reunification of the country, says Rodong Sinmun in an article Monday.
    Noting that the President is the eternal sun of the Korean nation who provided the nation with precious ideological and theoretical wealth which the nation should invariably cherish, regarding it as the unswerving guideline till the day when it will achieve the reunification of the country, the author of the article goes on:
    The President showed the most correct way for achieving the reunification of the country and pioneered the cause of it by putting forward the Juche-oriented idea and line of reunification.
    On the basis of a correct analysis of and insight into the complex and arduous nature of the solution of the reunification question and the specific reality and condition of the country, the President set forth the most correct principles and ways of reunification from the unshakable Juche-oriented viewpoint and stand.
    The three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity advanced by the President are a great programme of national reunification which clarifies the main stand and ways to achieve reunification in conformity with the demand and interests of the Korean nation, the master of the issue, and by its own efforts.

Pyongyang Active with Preparations for Day of Sun

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- A festive atmosphere is prevailing in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, with the approach of the Day of the Sun (April 15).
    Colorful events have been prepared or held to significantly commemorate the 95th anniversary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.
    Preparations for the 25th April Spring Friendship Art Festival, 9th Kimilsungia Festival, Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Show celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Korean People's Army and the representation of the mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" are in the full swing.
    Posters for the spring festival are put up in different places of the city, inciting people to the art festival.
    Various political and cultural activities are taking place.
    The National Fine-Art Exhibition and National Sports Festival were opened to celebrate the Day of the Sun and art circles of factories and co-op farms over the country gave a joint performance.
    A stream of servicepersons, working people from all walks of life, school youth and children are visiting the native home of President Kim Il Sung in Mangyongdae.
    All the funfair facilities in the city are now under operation to delight the citizens.

Chinese Ship Crew Hold Remembrance Meeting

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- A meeting for remembering President Kim Il Sung was held by the crewmen of a Chinese-flagged ship at the Chongjin Port on April 7 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
    Present there were the captain and crewmen of the Chinese-flagged ship Zhen Song-2.
    The speakers at the meeting said Kim Il Sung, the great leader acclaimed for the first time and held in high esteem by the Korean people in the 5,000 year-long history, was an ever-victorious and iron-willed brilliant commander and the one who helped the Chinese revolution at the cost of blood.
    The President, the founder of the Juche idea, built the most advantageous people-centered socialist system and laid a foundation of eternal value for the ever-lasting prosperity of Korea, they noted, adding: The President's revolutionary idea is admired by all people and is throwing its rays as the permanent banner of the emancipation of humankind.
    They noted that the revolutionary cause pioneered by the President is being successfully carried forward to accomplishment by Kim Jong Il.
    They expressed the belief that the Korean people united close around Kim Jong Il would certainly reunify the country independently and build a great prosperous powerful nation.

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- An exhibition team of the DPRK Taekwon-Do Committee led by Chairman Hwang Pong Yong returned here Monday after attending the Taekwon-Do demonstration held in the south side's area.

Public Health Services in DPRK

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea keeps paying much effort to the public health services.
    The public health organs at all levels are vaccinating all the people, young and old, men and women, against various kinds of diseases in conformity with the policy of prophylactic treatment of the Workers' Party of Korea.
    A spring clean-up campaign is being vigorously launched at residential quarters and working sites to keep clean the surroundings for the purpose of eliminating the sources of diseases with the help of the hygienic and anti-epidemic institutions at all levels.
    Meanwhile, radios, TV and publications regularly give hygienic knowledge to prevent and wipe out epidemics. Preventive injection and medicines are being mass-produced to be supplied to the inhabitants free of charge.
    The state allots a large amount of budgetary expenditure for public health every year to improve people's health though it is still in difficulties.
    The Cabinet adopted a decision on enforcing a free medical care system in November Juche 41 (1952). Since then, hospitals and clinics have been set up in all towns, rural areas, factories and villages where people work and live. Along with this the section doctor system, an advanced medical service system, has been in force to look after the people's health.
    Doctors in charge of households are regularly visiting each house according to scrupulous plan to grasp health condition, conduct hygienic propaganda and education, treat patients, organize hospital treatment and undertake medical inspection of working ability.
    Natural treatment resources are being widely used.
    Sanatoriums including the Kim Jong Suk Sanatorium have been built on seashores and in spa and mineral spring resorts and other scenic places for the treatment of patients and improvement of health.

Nullification of Concluded FTA Demanded in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- A candlelight cultural event was reportedly held in front of the Sejong Cultural Center in Kwanghwamun, Seoul on April 4 to denounce the conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. "Free Trade Agreement."
    Present there were members of the Headquarters of the All-People Movement for Checking the South Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement and other civic and public organizations and persons of literature and arts.
    Speakers at the event branded the conclusion of FTA as a coup and strongly demanded that the authorities nullify it.
    There was an art performance, which satirized the "government" authorities justifying the concluded FTA under the pretext of the "alliance" with the U.S. and "competitive power" and the forces favoring it.

Kim Il Sung's Work Off Press in Peru

     Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung's famous work "Let Us Bring the Advantages of Socialism in Our Country into Full Play" was brought out in booklet by the Grafica Aj Hermanos Publishing House of Peru on April 2.
    The work published on May 24, Juche 79 (1990) elaborates on the intrinsic characteristics of Korean-style socialism and its advantages, tasks and ways to bring them into full play and clearly indicates the questions of principle to be maintained by the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in national reunification and international relations.

     Pyongyang, 9 de abril (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar la vispera en la capitalina Casa Cultural 25 de Abril el acto central por el aniversario 14 de la eleccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il como Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.

    Siendo la gran victoria de la idea del Songun y la linea de la revolucion homonima del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, la conversion hoy de la RPDC en un pais portador de armas nucleares devino un hecho historico que dio la garantia fundamental para satisfacer a plenitud el deseo de muchos tiempos de la nacion coreana de contar con intocables fuerzas nacionales e impulsar con vigor la causa de construccion de una gran potencia prospera socialista aun en medio de la amenaza de guerra nuclear y las maniobras agresivas de los imperialistas.
    La politica de Songun del Dirigente, signada del principio de independencia nacional y el espiritu de amar a la patria y la nacion, trajo la era de reunificacion iniciada el 15 de Junio materializando el ideal de "Entre nosotros, los connacionales", dio una coyuntura trascendental del movimiento por la reunificacion de la patria y agrando notablemente la dignidad y el prestigio de la RPDC en el escenario mundial y la solidaridad internacional con la revolucion coreana.

    Hoy dia, la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana sigue siendo tensa debido a las incesantes maniobras militares provocativas de EE.UU.
    Nuestro pais sigue de cerca con alta vigilancia las imprudentes maniobras de las fuerzas antagonicas como EE.UU. y Japon y castigara implacablemente con las fuerzas armadas sin rivales consolidadas con la politica de Songun a cualesquier enemigos que atenten aunque en lo mas minimo la soberania y la dignidad de la RPDC.

Rodong Sinmun critica intento de EE.UU. y Japon

     Pyongyang, 9 de abril (ATCC) -- Los imperialistas estadounidenses dicen que promoveran el plan del establecimiento del sistema antimisiles para "proteger" a su pais y sus aliados desde la "amenaza de misiles" de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
    Un comentarista del rotativo Rodong Sinmun de este lunes lo califica de un sofisma absurdisimo y prosigue:
    Es obvio que tales maquinaciones son una grave provocacion para frenar la desnuclearizacion de la Peninsula Coreana, acelerar la preparacion de la nueva guerra y la carrera armamentista en el Nordeste Asiatico.
    La capa dominante de Japon, que padece de vertigo misilistico, se adhiere al establecimiento del sistema antimisiles de Estados Unidos, pretextando la "amenaza nuclear" de alguien.
    No habra ni un pais que quedara indiferente del establecimiento de tal sistema de EE.UU. y Japon. Indudablemente, se levantara el viento de nueva carrera armamentista. La RPDC ya advirtio que tal maquinacion de ambos paises deviene un acto hostil y una grave amenaza contra si misma.
    Sin embargo, los reaccionarios estadounidenses y los japoneses recurren con rabia al aumento de armas nucleares y misiles, perturbando la paz y la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana y acarreando un aumento armamentista en el Noreste Asiatico y el resto del mundo.
    En fin desacatan el espiritu del acuerdo de las conversaciones a 6 bandas de no amenazar a otra parte.
    Ahora es el tiempo en que los paises interesados deben abstenerse de las graves acciones militares.

Acto por el XXX aniversario de la fundacion del CIERECO

     Pyongyang, 9 de abril (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el 31 de marzo en Bruselas, capital de Belgica, el acto por el XXX aniversario de la fundacion del Comite Internacional de Enlace por la Reunificacion y la Paz en Corea (CIERECO).
    En la ocasion, pronuncio un discurso de apertura Paulette Pierson, presidente honorario del CIERECO, y se dio lectura a los mensajes y cartas de felicitacion enviados por el CC del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, el Consejo Mundial de la Paz, la Federacion Democratica Internacional de Mujeres, las organizaciones para el estudio de la idea Juche y las entidades de amistad y solidaridad con el pueblo coreano de varios paises y regiones.
    El informe conmemorativo estuvo a cargo de Guy Dupre, secretario general del CIERECO.
    Con motivo de esa efemeride, el informante hizo hincapie en las proezas historicas del Presidente Kim Il Sung y del Dirigente Kim Jong Il logradas en la lucha por defender la soberania del pais y poner fin a la tragedia de la division de Corea.
    Dio a conocer en detalle las dinamicas actividades que a lo largo de esos 30 anos el CIERECO desarrollo en senal de apoyo a la lucha del pueblo coreano por la reunificacion independiente del pais y la paz duradera de la Peninsula Coreana y se refirio a varias medidas del citado comite tomadas en contra de la violacion de derechos humanos en el Sur de Corea.
    Reafirmo el compromiso del CIERECO hecho hace ahora 30 anos: luchar al lado del pueblo coreano hasta que sea realizada la reunificacion de Corea, y expreso esperanza de que se lograria en un futuro cercano la aspiracion del pueblo coreano a vivir en la patria independiente, pacifica y prospera.
    Tambien, varias personalidades hicieron discursos de felicitacion.
    Acto seguido, fue proyectado el video "Por la reunificacion y la paz de Corea" que muestra las actividades principales del CIERECO y ofrecido un banquete.
    A la cita asistieron los miembros de la presidencia del CIERECO, personalidades de partidos politicos y entidades de Francia, Dinamarca, Noruega, Belgica, Argelia y otros paises y los delegados de las organizaciones regionales e internacionales.
    Y fue invitado el representante de la Representacion General de la RPDC en Francia.

Reunion de presidencia del CIERECO

    @Pyongyang, 9 de abril (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar los dias 30 y 31 del mes pasado en Belgica la reunion de la presidencia del Comite Internacional de Enlace por la Reunificacion y la Paz en Corea (CIERECO).
    Asistieron al foro los presidentes honorarios, el secretario general y los miembros de la presidencia del CIERECO, los delegados de los partidos politicos y entidades de amistad y solidaridad con el pueblo coreano de varios paises como Francia, Gran Bretana, Dinamarca, Noruega, Belgica, Argelia e India, los representantes de organizaciones internacionales y regionales y otras personalidades de distintos sectores.
    En su informe Catherine Dijon, subsecretario general del CIERECO, elogio altamente las proezas historicas del Presidente Kim Il Sung, quien dirigio sabiamente el movimiento por la reunificacion independiente del pais, y las imborrables hazanas del Dirigente Kim Jong Il, quien preparo el encuentro de maximo nivel Norte-Sur e hizo publicar la Declaracion Conjunta N-S del 15 de Junio abriendo asi la coyuntura trascendental para la reunificacion de Corea.
    Propuso fijar 2007, en que se acoge el XXX aniversario de la fundacion del CIERECO, como "Ano de solidaridad internacional con la reunificacion independiente y pacifica de Corea".
    Los oradores expresaron sus decisiones de desplegar con mas vigor este ano el movimiento solidario con la lucha del pueblo coreano que al levantarse en el cumplimiento de las tres tareas: la preponderancia de la nacion, la defensa de la paz y el logro de la unidad, abre la era de prosperidad de la causa de reunificacion independiente y demandaron fuertemente a EE.UU. ejecutar cabalmente sus promesas para la desnuclearizacion de la Peninsula Coreana.
    En la reunion fueron aprobados el programa de accion del CIERECO para 2007 y el llamamiento a los gobiernos, partidos politicos y entidades de varios paises del mundo y las organizaciones internacionales y no gubernamentales.
    El programa senala que el CIERECO ampliara mas el movimiento de solidaridad internacional para apoyar y defender la ejecucion cabal de la Declaracion Conjunta Norte-Sur del 15 de Junio y la aceleracion de la reconciliacion, cooperacion y reintegracion entre ambas partes de Corea y para destruir todos los intentos de las fuerzas anti-reunificacion y anti-paz, que lo obstaculizan, y desplegara la campana internacional de recogida de firmas en demanda de la retirada inmediata de las tropas norteamericanas del Sur de Corea.
    El llamamiento exhorto a todos los gobiernos, partidos politicos y entidades de varios paises del mundo y las organizaciones internacionales y no gubernamentales a demandar fuertemente a EE.UU. y a las fuerzas surcoreanas anti-reunificacion desmantelar la muralla de hormigon armado construida al sur de la Linea de Demarcacion Militar y cesar en suelo surcoreano el aumento armamentista y los ejercicios belicos de toda indole contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
    Tambien exigio ejercer presion sobre EE.UU. a abandonar su politica hostil y agresiva a la RPDC y activar la opinion publica internacional a favor del aseguramiento de la paz de la Peninsula Coreana.
    En la ocasion fue aprobada una carta al Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
