Meeting of Members of Young Vanguard for Songun Revolution Held
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- A meeting of members of the young vanguard for the Songun revolution was held at the People's Palace of Culture Wednesday.
The meeting serves as an important occasion in demonstrating the revolutionary spirit and will of the Korean youth who are dynamically advancing toward the bright future of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and in enhancing the vanguard role of youth in the general advance for the Songun revolution, taking the lead in upholding the Songun leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The meeting discussed the tasks for the youth to glorify their honor as a first-line death-defying corps, a reserve combat unit and a special detachment of the supreme commander whose members defend the headquarters of the revolution at the cost of their lives and creditably discharge their mission and duty as the young vanguard in the general charge for attaining the peak of building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and the ways to do so.
The meeting was attended by Kim Yong Nam, Kim Il Chol, Choe Thae Bok and other officials and youth and students and officials of the youth league who rendered distinguished services in the general march for the Songun revolution.
A congratulatory message of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to the participants in the meeting was conveyed by Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.
The message highly praised the participants in the meeting and all other young people across the country for having strikingly demonstrated the spirit and bravery of the young vanguard by taking the lead in upholding the Party's Songun leadership and bearing the brunt of all fronts for building a great prosperous powerful nation.
The message expressed the belief that all the participants in the meeting and all other young people across the country would fully demonstrate the heroic spirit of members of the young vanguard for the Songun revolution in the general advance for building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, single-heartedly rallied around Kim Jong Il.
Kim Kyong Ho, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, made a report to be followed by speeches.
The reporter said that President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il led the Korean youth movement to victory so that the youth could play a vanguard role in accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.
He went on to say:
The undying feats Kim Jong Il has performed by putting the position of the youth in the great Songun era on the highest level and leading the youth league to increase its vanguard role and thereby bringing about a victory to be recorded in the national history will shine forever along with the glorious history of the Songun revolution.
He called on the youth to defend and further glorify the undying feats performed by the three generals of Mt. Paektu for the Korean youth movement this year marking the 95th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung, the 75th birthday of the Korean People's Army and the 80th founding anniversary of the Young Communist League of Korea and fully display the heroic stamina of the young vanguard in bearing the brunt of the general march for the Songun revolution, true to the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
The speakers said that the Korean youth have played a vanguard role in bolstering the People's Army and augmenting the might of the state true to the Songun leadership of the Party.
They called on the young people to perform great exploits in the worthwhile general advance of the Songun revolution on behalf of the Party and the homeland and glorify the honor of the dignified youth league bearing the august name of the President.
A congratulatory poem was recited by a congratulatory group of the Korean Children's Union at the meeting.
Led by Kim Kyong Ho, the participants made a solemn pledge to Kim Jong Il to take the lead in ushering in a heyday of Kim Il Sung's nation, the sun's Korea.
Day of Sun Commemorated in Tanzania and Syria
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Lectures and Korean book and photo exhibition were held in Tanzania and Syria on Mar. 17 and 19 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
On display in the venues of the events were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, photos showing their undying feats and books and photos introducing the Korean people in their efforts to build a great prosperous powerful nation.
The chief of the Group for the Study of the Juche Idea of the Dar-Es-Salaam Friendship Textile Mill said in a lecture that the President fathered the immortal Juche idea, thereby bringing about a radical change in the struggle for developing human thought and hewing out the destiny of the popular masses. The President is the eternal sun of Juche as he built man-centered socialism of Korean-style, bringing a bright future to humankind, he added.
The chief of the Group for the Study of Kimilsungism of Mjumbe University in Morogoro of Tanzania in a lecture said that progressive humankind will praise the feats performed by Kim Il Sung for the cause of independence against imperialism for all ages.
The governor of Aleppo Province of Syria made a speech at the opening ceremony of the Korean book and photo exhibition. He expressed the conviction that the Korean people would firmly unite around Kim Jong Il and successfully carry forward the cause of Kim Il Sung. The Syrian people will always stand by the Korean people and boost the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation with them, he stressed.
Japanese Reactionaries Accused of Denying Past Crimes
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Japanese Prime Minister Abe on Mar. 11 and 12 expressed his will to admit and apologize for the crimes committed in drafting "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army. But, a few days later, in a "government's answer" to a question of the Diet, his cohorts reversed his remarks and totally denied the historical fact, claiming that "there is no evidence of forcible drafting" of a great number of "comfort women" by the Japanese army during the Second World War.
Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Wednesday says:
This behavior of the Abe group resorting to every conceivable artifice to stamp out in history the past crimes in forcing women into sexual servitude at any cost reveals the craftiness peculiar to the Japanese.
For Abe and his cohorts to deny the coercion in drafting "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army is a preposterous and paradoxical argument and insult to and mockery of the victims to the drafting and world conscience.
There were a great many wars recorded in history. However, only Japan committed extra-large inhuman crimes, taking a lot of women to battlefields in groups as sexual slaves on the instructions of the government and military and with their involvement.
History and truth cannot be distorted or wiped out.
The harder Japan denies the forced drafting of "comfort women" for the Japanese army and distorts its crime-woven history, the clearer it reveals its moral vulgarity and filthy conscience.
It is a rule of conduct and right behavior to frankly admit crimes and sincerely reflect on and apologize for them.
Western Powers' Arms Build-up Assailed
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The Western powers including the U.S. and their allies have become more frantic in their moves to modernize and develop military hardware and step up arms build-up in a bid to hold military supremacy and realize their ambition for world domination.
Minju Joson Wednesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:
The job to bolster military capacity is, by no means, a monopoly of a specified country.
It is self-evident that the moves of some countries to qualitatively bolster their military muscles cannot but be an issue of concern to those countries concerned as they are intertwined with one another politically and geographically. That is why many countries are sensitively responding to the Western powers' attempt to hold military supremacy.
It is elementary common sense that any military measure taken by any country to go unchallenged in the military field would upset the military equilibrium among countries, spark off military mistrust and threat and increase the danger of a war.
It is the only way for any country to survive in this world today to build its own strength now that the hegemonic forces seek to seize other countries by force and put them under their domination.
Another war has not yet broken out on the Korean Peninsula where the interests of big powers are intertwined and the hegemonic forces have revealed their attempt to put the DPRK under their military domination. This is entirely thanks to the DPRK which has paid due attention to building strength to defend itself.
The DPRK will exercise its legitimate right to self-defence as long as the hegemonic forces' hostile policy toward it goes on and Northeast Asia is exposed to the danger of a war.
Joint Military Exercises Reveal Anti-DPRK Policy
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The United States should practically prove its will to make a switchover in its hostile policy towards the DPRK by stopping the provocative joint military exercises against it, urges Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article.
It goes on:
The joint military rehearsals RSOI and Foal Eagle now under way in south Korea are a token of the deep-rooted hostile policy towards the DPRK. They are bringing the chill of distrust and confrontation to the DPRK-U.S. and inter-Korean relations which have entered upon the road of reconciliation and improvement and driving the situation to a phase of tension.
It is quite nonsense that the U.S. stages joint war games with south Korea to counter "threat" from someone. They are obviously maneuvers to mount an attack on the DPRK. And they are very dangerous acts of war provocation to invade the DPRK unawares while showing off strength and presenting threat.
The RSOI and Foal Eagle are a highly dangerous play with fire against the DPRK replacing in scale, nature and content the "Team Spirit" joint military exercises which were a three dimensional nuclear test war and a preliminary war. The U.S. itself makes it plain that it has not changed its hostile policy toward the DPRK by staging the war rehearsals which, at the slightest slip, might destroy the climate of the relaxation of tension in a moment and throw the whole of Korean Peninsula into the vortex of a nuclear war.
The anti-DPRK war exercises of the U.S. and south Korean warmongers seriously threaten the process of peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula. The Korean nation and the world peace-loving people will never tolerate the developments.
Protest against FTA in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the All-People Movement for Checking the Negotiations on the south Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement called a press conference and the south Korean Federation of Press Trade Unions held a rally in Seoul on March 23, opposing the negotiations on conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. FTA, according to a news report.
Speakers at the press conference referred to the fact that 83 percents of the respondents to the opinion poll stood against the "government's" negotiations on the conclusion of FTA. And they said that it was a deserved judgment given to the "government" which has so far had the humiliating negotiations with the U.S. while turning aside from the interests and will of the people.
They warned that the people would in unity wage a struggle urging the "government" to resign, if it insists on the conclusion of FTA.
At the rally speakers said that if the agreement is concluded the south Korean media would be shackled to the U.S. media. They stressed that it would be possible to check the conclusion of the humiliating agreement when over 18,000 unionists struggle in firm unity.
A declaration of struggle was read out at the rally.
After the rally the participants staged a demonstration.
On the same day members of other civic and public organizations in south Korea conducted information activities in Seoul, calling upon the citizens to turn out in the struggle against the conclusion of FTA.
Rodong Sinmun on Imperialists' Policy of Strength
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The imperialists' policy of strength is fated to go bankrupt as it is an anachronistic policy going against the trend of the times and the aspiration of humankind.
Rodong Sinmun declares this in a signed article today.
It is the truth of history that the unjust and reactionary policy violating the desire of humankind for independence and swimming against the trend of the times toward independence is bound to end in a failure and those infringing upon the sovereignty of other nations are doomed to ruin, the paper says, and goes on:
The imperialists' policy of strength is a breach of the international laws as it wantonly violates the principles of respect for sovereignty and equality.
The U.S. considers high-handed and arbitrary practices based on strength as the basic means in executing its foreign policy for aggression. It oppresses and tramples down the countries that differ from it in ideology and system and disobey its orders with the military force. Such practices are a wanton violation of the international laws and an act against history hindering the sound development of the international relations. That is why the international community has called for breaking the old international order, which allows specific countries' policy of strength and high-handed practices, and establishing a new, fair international order.
The imperialists' policy of strength is a criminal act of seriously threatening and wrecking the global peace and security and giving rise to the arms race.
It is entirely attributable to this policy that peace has been wrecked and tension aggravated in different parts of the world.
Moves for arms race are being intensified in different parts of the world as the imperialists have massively produced and deployed nuclear weapons and other modern war means and hardware, increasing the military spending. Today's reality indicates that new Cold War and nuclear arms race are near at hand. As long as the imperialists' policy of strength is allowed it is impossible to realize the aspiration of humankind after independence and peace.
The imperialists' policy of strength is not an expression of their mightiness but a revelation of their vulnerability and it is no more than a last-ditch effort of those on the brink of ruin.
Mushroom Resources and Their Use in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has directed many efforts in confirming the mushroom resources abundant in the country and extending the application.
More than 900 species of mushrooms have been found out in the country.
Over 250 species out of them are of economic value.
Kim Song Chan, deputy director of the Branch Academy of Biology under the State Academy of Sciences, told KCNA that the survey would be continued to discover more kinds of mushroom species. He elaborated their use:
The method for cultivating over 10 kinds of edible mushrooms including agaric, Lentinus edodes and Agaricus bisporus has already been established and high-yielding species have been selected so as to breed on co-operative farms and in families in an extensive way. Technical issues of reducing production costs and raising the rate of harvest were also solved.
Mushroom is widely used in health and longevity such as promotion of metabolism, prevention of aging and recovery from fatigue.
Researches into acclimatizing and cultivating the wild mushrooms with great economic significance are being undertaken. Ganoderma lucia and some other kinds of mushrooms are under artificial cultivation.
Mushrooms of cordiceps sinensis genus are used in making health food and drink.
Pharmaceuticals and tonic goods made of Ganoderma lucia, Coriolus versicolor, Lentinus edodes and Schizophyllus commune are popular in foreign markets.
Some 70 species of poisonous mushrooms are applicable in the treatment of cancer and tumour and in the production of biological reagent.
The mushroom application keeps extending as edible and medicinal ones, the raw materials of the biological reagent and protection substance of ecological environment.
"Korean Sports Year Books" off Press
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- "Korean Sports Year Books" have been published by the Sports Publishing House of the DPRK.
Contained in the books are achievements made in sports development of the country between Juche 43 (1954) and Juche 59 (1970).
They deal with the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il over the sports field, benevolence shown by the Party and government for the athletes and major meetings on physical culture and sports.
Given in the books are data on the development of sports through the work of popularizing sports and making it daily routine and data on the international and national sports games held during the period.
They carry data on sports relations between the north and the south of Korea and sports activities of the Koreans in Japan.
The books which systematize the history of sports development of the country in a comprehensive way are of value of historical materials.

Pyongyang, 28 de marzo (ATCC) -- Los dias 11 y 12, el premier japones Abe expreso su voluntad de reconocer y pedir perdon por los crimenes del caso de las "consoladoras sexuales" para el viejo ejercito japones.
Pero, unos dias despues, a traves de la "respuesta gubernamental" a las preguntas de la dieta japonesa, los compinches de Abe dieron vuelco al pronunciamiento de este reiterando que "no hay pruebas del reclutamiento forzado de numerosas consoladoras" por parte de las tropas japonesas en el periodo de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Tal conducta de la banda de Abe, encaminada a encubrir a toda costa los crimenes de ese esclavitud sexual del pasado negando los hechos historicos, deviene una manifestacion de la astucia tipica del clan de los samurais.
Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual del dia 28 y continua:
La negativa de la banda de Abe al caracter forzado de ese caso resulta sumamente absurda e ilogica, siendo un insulto y burla a las victimas de esclavitud sexual y a la conciencia mundial.
En la historia de la humanidad estan registradas numerosas guerras. Pero, Japon es el unico pais que a las ordenes del gobierno y la cupula militar o con la participacion directa de estos, cometio esos crimenes antieticos de pesima calana ultrajando sexualmente en masas a numerosas mujeres en los propios campos de combate.
Es imposible tergiversar ni borrar la historia y la verdad.
Si el pais isleno sigue negando el caracter coercitivo de ese asunto y tergiversando su historia criminal, resaltara mas su bajeza moral y sucia conciencia.
Seria correcto que reconozca y reflexione con sinceridad de sus delitos y pida disculpas por el respecto.
Minju Joson se refiere a la necesidad de fortalecer la capacidad militar
Pyongyang, 28 de marzo (ATCC) -- El rotativo Minju Joson publico este miercoles un comentario individual que va en particular:
En estos tiempos, Estados Unidos y otras potencias occidentales y sus fuerzas entreguistas dan acicate a la modernizacion y desarrollo de los armamentos y al aumento armamentista con el designio de tomar la supremacia militar y de realizar la ambicion de dominar a todo el mundo. Pero, el fortalecimiento de la capacidad militar no es la unica medida de un pais determinado.
Logicamente, el movimiento de unos paises por elevar el nivel cualitativo de las fuerzas armadas despierta el interes de los paises interesados politica y geograficamente. Ahora, muchos paises dan reaccion inmediata a la intencion de las potencias occidentales de tomar la supremacia militar.
Es obvio que la medida del fortalecimiento de la capacidad militar para ocupar la posicion hegemonica en la rama militar destruye el equilibrio de las fuerzas armadas entre los paises, engendra la desconfianza y amenaza militares y aumenta el peligro de la guerra.
Hoy que se tornan mas siniestras las maquinaciones de las fuerzas dominacionistas encaminadas a oprimir y dominar a otros paises, la unica via para sobrevivir es incrementar las fuerzas propias.
Se preserva la paz en la Peninsula Coreana donde estan enredados los intereses de las grandes potencias y recrudecen las maquinaciones de las fuerzas dominacionistas encaminadas a dominar en lo militar la RPDC, lo que se debe enteramente a que esta presto debida atencion al fortalecimiento de las fuerzas autodefensivas.
La RPDC seguira ejerciendo el derecho a defenderse, mientras que existen la politica de hostilidad a la RPDC de las fuerzas dominacionistas y el peligro de la guerra en el Noreste Asiatico.
Ejercicios militares devienen reflejo de la politica hostil a la RPDC
Pyongyang, 28 de marzo (ATCC) -- Estados Unidos debe comprobar su voluntad de cambiar la politica hostil a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea al parar las provocativas maniobras militares conjuntas para la agresion a esta.
Insiste el rotativo Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual difundido este miercoles y prosigue:
El "ejercicio combinado de refuerzo para el tiempo de guerra" y el simulacro "Aguilucho" en plena marcha en suelo surcoreano constituyen una revelacion de la arraigada politica hostil a la RPDC.
Estos ejercicios militares hacen volverse a la era de desconfianza y confrontacion las relaciones entre la RPDC y EE.UU. y las intercoreanas, que entraron en la senda de reconciliacion y mejoramiento de las mismas, y llevan la situacion a una coyuntura muy tensa.
No tiene ninguna razon el pretexto utilizado por EE.UU. para desplegarlos: hacer frente a la supuesta "amenaza" de alguna parte.
Es que tales maniobras belicistas de EE.UU. y el Sur de Corea persiguen el objetivo de hacer alarde de sus fuerzas armadas, amenazar con las mismas al Norte de Corea y pasar a la agresion contra este en un momento menos pensado.
En efecto, tanto por su dimension y caracter como a la luz de su contenido, las dos maniobras militares referidas son sustitutas del simulacro conjunto "Team Spirit", que resulto practicamente el ensayo tridimensional de una guerra nuclear.
Al iniciar los ejercicios en cuestion que pueden romper de una vez el clima de alivio de tension y meter a toda la Peninsula Coreana en el crisol de guerra nuclear, el imperio revelo que no ha cambiado su politica hostil a la RPDC.
La nacion coreana y los pueblos pacifistas del mundo nunca admitiran que EE.UU. y los belicistas surcoreanos amenacen gravemente el proceso pacificador y de reconciliacion de la Peninsula Coreana con tales maniobras conjuntas para la agresion al Norte de Corea.
