Korea's Cause of Socialism Supported

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- The participants in the meeting for remembering Marx, which was held in London on Mar. 10 on the occasion of his 124th death anniversary, expressed full support for Korea's cause of socialism.
Alexsander Kempshall, chairman of the Central Committee of the New Communist Party of Britain, in his key speech said that socialism is now successfully being built in the DPRK. He stressed that though socialism collapsed in some countries, Korean socialism is emerging victorious.
Noting that the drive for socialism is going on with the DPRK as its centre today, he said that the Pyongyang declaration "Let us defend and advance the cause of socialism," adopted in April 1992, was signed by nearly 300 political parties.
Ella Rule, vice-chairman and international secretary of the C.C., the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist), and other personages of political parties and organizations including the Afro-Asian Solidarity Committee of Britain said in their speeches that various progressive political parties are getting united close under the banner of the Pyongyang declaration, and stressed the need to follow the experience of the Workers' Party of Korea and strive to defend socialism.

Anti-DPRK Saber-rattling Protested

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- The Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association issued a statement on Mar. 14 in denunciation of the U.S. and south Korean trigger-happy forces' plan to stage the RSOI and field mobile exercises in south Korea.
The statement said that the U.S. and the south Korean war-like forces are going to stage war exercises at a time when an agreement for the peaceful settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula was reached in the recent six-party talks and the atmosphere for reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south of Korea are being created.
Stating that the war drills can never be justified with anything nor go together with dialogue, it branded them as an action of chilling the atmosphere of dialogue.
The statement strongly demanded that the U.S. and the south Korean war-like forces immediately stop the projected war maneuvers rendering the situation of the Korean Peninsula strained.

Vehement Struggle against U.S. Called for

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland made public a statement on Sunday, 25 years since youth and students of south Korea set fire to the "American Cultural Service" in Pusan, protesting against the U.S. military occupation and colonial rule.
On Mar. 18, 1982, youth and students in Pusan staged a fierce anti-U.S. struggle, scattering leaflets carrying such slogans as "U.S., go out!" and "We condemn the U.S. neocolonialism!" and setting fire to the "American Cultural Service," the statement recalled, and said:
With the struggle as a fuse, south Korean youth and students set fire to the "American cultural services" in Kwangju and Taegu later. And in 1985 they occupied the "American Information Service" in Seoul for several days, staging vehement anti-U.S. struggle.
Many years have passed since the arson of the "American Cultural Service" in Pusan. But the aspiration of the south Korean people for independence has not yet come true and the U.S. domination and interference are being escalated as days go by.
In particular, the U.S. is now busy rallying pro-American ultra-right conservatives of south Korea including the "Grand National Party," who have been marginalized by the trend of the June 15 era of reunification, to establish a pro-U.S. regime.
The youth and students and all other people in south Korea should more bravely turn out in the struggle against the U.S. to put an end to its military occupation and colonial rule and resolutely check the attempt of the GNP and other pro-American conservative forces to come to power again under the manipulation of the U.S.

Halt to U.S. Projected War Maneuvers Demanded

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly issued a statement demanding an immediate stop to the projected south Korea-U.S. RSOI and Foal Eagle joint military exercises on Mar. 13.
The statement said that RSOI and Foal Eagle are dangerous moves for provoking a war as they are intended to mount a preemptive attack on the north by massively hurling U.S. troops and up-to-date military hardware in case of "contingency" on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. planned large-scale war drills glaringly reveal its true colors as an imperialist who would outwardly call for "peace" and "dialogue" and inwardly seek to overpower its dialogue partner by force, it added.
War exercises and dialogue can never go together, the statement said, urging the U.S. to halt the north-targeted war drills and implement the February 13 agreement in action.
In the meantime, the Council of Youth Organizations and its 48 affiliated organizations across south Korea simultaneously issued statements on Mar. 13 condemning the joint military drills.

Repeal of NSL and Elimination of Pro-U.S. Conservatives Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Federation of University Student Councils reportedly issued a special resolution titled "Let's have the National Security Law (NSL) repealed and the pro-U.S. conservatives eliminated to glorify June 15 era of reunification" on Mar. 10.
Accusing the pro-U.S. conservative forces including the Grand National Party of south Korea of suppressing many pro-reunification figures such as youths and students struggling for national independence and reunification by invoking the NSL, an anti-reunification evil law, the resolution termed this last-ditch efforts of the pro-U.S. conservative forces to prolong their remaining days on the strength of the NSL.
It is the ulterior intention of the pro-U.S. conservatives to return to power come what may under the patronage of the U.S., a stumbling block lying in the way of Korean reunification, it noted.
For one to struggle for the repeal of the NSL is litmus showing whether one stands for fascist dictatorship or progressive reforms, for war or peace and for division or reunification, the resolution said, declaring that broad sections of people would have the NSL abolished and the pro-U.S. conservatives eliminated through their concerted efforts.

Japan's Bid to Grab Permanent UNSC Seat Ridiculed

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- Japan, a target of international denunciation, distrust and vigilance, is on the run day in and day out to be a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Ridiculing this as the height of shamelessness, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Monday says:
For Japan to desperately drive to become a permanent member of the UNSC is an act of overreaching itself, forgetting its position.
If things are to take the right course, Japan should frankly admit the crimes perpetrated by the Japanese imperialists in the past and apologize and compensate for them and win trust from the international community by giving up its militarist wild ambition. However, it is fooling public opinion by arrogantly talking about its "important responsibility" and "international role" and it claims that it is qualified to be a permanent member of the UNSC and other countries want that and support its bid.
The Japanese authorities should clearly know that the permanent membership of the UNSC is not a thing shared out readily to anyone who wishes to have it or demands it and still less can it be bought with money or be gained with someone's backing.
It is an insult to world conscience for the shameless and dangerous country dreaming of reinvasion, flatly refusing to part with its past stained with the blood of Asian people, to push for the permanent membership of the UNSC.
Japan, a political dwarf, should give up its foolish dream.

Brutal Crimes of Japanese Imperialists Denounced

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- March 18 marks the lapse of 95 years since the fabrication of the hideous colonial fascist law called "Korean Corporeal Punishment Ordinance" by the Japanese imperialists, the robbers.
The Japanese imperialists who occupied Korea by force of arms early in the last century promulgated the "Korean Corporeal Punishment Ordinance" on March 18, 1912. And, on December 10 that year, they forged "Performance Regulations of the Corporeal Punishment Ordinance" stipulating shocking methods of the performance of the ordinance. Promulgated in those days were also such fascist evil laws as "Korean Civil Ordinance" and "Korean Criminal Ordinance."
Rodong Sinmun in an analysis Monday says that all the fascist laws based on the doctrine of colonial domination that the Koreans should either be obedient to the Japanese law, or die were products of the Japanese imperialists' policy of colonial enslavement and policy of national obliteration against the Korean people.
Recalling that the cases of imprisonment and suppression of Koreans by the Japanese imperialists on the strength of various evil laws rose to 142,000 in 1918 from over 13,500 in 1912, the analyst goes on:
Having turned the whole land of Korea into a large prison, the Japanese imperialist robbers inflicted immeasurable losses, human and material, upon the Korean nation. And they perpetrated all manner of shuddering barbarities to totally destroy even the soul of the Korean nation. They were the culmination of the most ferocious crimes against humanity previously unknown in history in brutality and cruelty.
Japan has not yet apologized and compensated for the extra-large state-sponsored crimes unprecedented in history that were committed in the period of its occupation of Korea. On the contrary, it is trying to cover up its shocking past crimes including the crimes in the forced recruitment of sexual slaves for the imperial Japanese army and running about with blood-shot eyes in their moves for reinvasion and confrontation against the DPRK, even beautifying its history of aggression and whipping up militarism.
The reality clearly proves that the shameless and brutal nature of the Japanese reactionaries remains unchanged and they are obsessed with ambition of aggression to enslave the Korean nation again and freely commit murder and looting against the Korean people.

S. Korean Ultra-Right Conservative Media's Diatribe against Inter-Korean Cooperation under Fire

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Journalists Union released a statement on Mar. 17 assailing the ultra-right conservative media in south Korea for more persistently throwing a wet blanket over inter-Korean cooperation in a bid to hamstring it.
Some days ago, the south Korean Choongang Ilbo asserted that "cash aid" should not be allowed and "it arouses misgivings," while taking issue with the cooperation in the field of humanitarianism.
Hankuk Ilbo of south Korea also let loose outbursts that to "consider the issue of cash aid" is likely to "distort the main structure for the settlement of the humanitarian issue between the north and the south and "it may create the danger of widening the imbalance in the humanitarian exchange."
Noting that such assertions made by the south Korean conservative media glaringly reveal the black-hearted intention of the ultra-right conservative forces to put a brake on the projects for cooperation in several fields, not pleased to see a new phase brought about by the agreement made at the six-party talks and the resumption of the inter-Korean ministerial talks in the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the chance given to the deadlocked inter-Korean relations to warm up, the statement said:
Chosun Ilbo, Choongang Ilbo and Dong-A Ilbo are taking the lead in such despicable diatribe. These three dailies in south Korea are ill-famed for their false propaganda against the Korean nation and reunification.
It is long since the conservative media in south Korea were reduced to mouthpieces of the outside forces and ultra-right conservative forces including the Grand National Party of south Korea, after discarding the principle of impartiality, truth and elementary national conscience and awareness.
The desperate efforts made by the south Korean conservative media to stem the trend of the present June 15 era of independent reunification, while finding themselves in such a miserable situation, would precipitate their own self-destruction.

Successes Made in Fishery Scientific Rese

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- Successes have been registered in the scientific research for increasing the marine resources in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
In an interview with KCNA So Kyong Ho, president of the Branch Academy of Fishery Science under the State Academy of Sciences, said:
The scientists are carrying into practice various valuable technical inventions that guarantee the mariculture in a scientific and technical way.
The scientists of the East Sea Mariculture Institute active in the Yanghwa and other fishery stations have successfully solved the technical issues arising on mariculture farms such as cultivation of fodder for fry and artificial collection of spawn.
Those of the West Sea Mariculture Institute have established the system of the separation of feed for fry, preservation and extended cultivation of the pure breed, thus laying a solid foundation for breeding the abalone, sea cucumber and short neck clam on a large scale.
The Aquatic Products Processing Institute has developed a new kind of nutrition sap by the enzymolysis of fish. The nutrition sap made with the help of microorganism enzyme preparation contains rich essential amino acids of different kinds.
Fish breeding scientists have bred superior breeding fishes easy to rear in lakes, reservoirs and fish breeding ponds and supplied them to fish breeding farms throughout the country. A large amount of fry is being released in the River Taedong and other natural waters.

New Commemorative Stamp Issued

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- A stamp commemorating the 90th anniversary of the formation of the Korean National Association (KNA) has been published in the DPRK.
Kim Hyong Jik, outstanding leader of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea, formed the Korean National Association in Hakdanggol, Pyongyang, on March 23, Juche 6 (1917).
The KNA was a secret organization with the aim of achieving national independence and establishing a truly modern state through the efforts of the unified Korean nation. It was one of the largest anti-Japanese underground revolutionary organizations of Korean patriots at home or abroad at the time of the March First Popular Uprising.
Printed on the upper part of the stamp are the words "Commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the formation of the Korean National Association" and "Juche 6 (1917) - Juche 96 (2007)".
The stamp carries Myongsin School with green Mt. Ponghwa as its background and the word "Jiwon" (aim high) reflecting his lofty will. The school is associated with the immortal exploits of Kim Hyong Jik who taught and led students and people to turn out in the struggle for the liberation of the country.
The face value of the stamp is 12 won.

Rodong Sinmun on Guarantee for Korea's Reunification and Prosperity

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- Peace is a sure guarantee for Korea's reunification and co-prosperity of its nation. For the Korean nation to struggle for peace at present is a just patriotic struggle to defend the land for its existence and achieve the reunification of the country and prosperity common to the nation.
Rodong Sinmun Monday says this in a signed article.
The reunification of Korea is a matter to reunite the Korean nation artificially divided by the outside forces and, accordingly, national reconciliation should be achieved before anything else, it says, and goes on:
Peace, the most universal idea common to humankind, is a prerequisite for the national unity and reunification in Korea divided into two.
If a war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula, its disasters will be inflicted mainly upon the Korean nation.
There will be neither reunification nor prosperity without nation and territory.
The history and reality have already proved that the reunification of the country and the co-prosperity of the nation cannot be guaranteed without peace.
The U.S. has kept its aggression forces in south Korea and staged war gambles against the DPRK almost everyday, destabilizing the situation of the Korean Peninsula and posing a constant danger of war.
The reality in the June 15 era of reunification, the first of its kind in the history of the Korean nation's struggle for reunification, more clearly shows that the reunification of the country and the prosperity common to the Korean nation can not be realized unless peace is achieved.
The June 15 joint declaration adopted at the historic Pyongyang summit presupposes peace as it is aimed at achieving the independent reunification and common prosperity of the Korean nation through its reconciliation and cooperation. It has been clearly evidenced by the process of implementing the joint declaration.
The outside forces and the south Korean bellicose forces servile to them have been hell-bent on the moves to provoke a new war against the DPRK, going against the aspiration of the Korean nation and the trend of the times, and thus put a brake on the development of inter-Korean relations and laid artificial obstacles to the reunification movement.
The stand and line of the Workers' Party of Korea for peace and peaceful reunification are very just and patriotic. Holding high the banner of peace is just the way for glorifying the June 15 era of reunification and achieving the reunification and prosperity.

Japan Urged to Apologize and Compensate for Its Past Crimes

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- No matter how craftily Japan may move to evade the state responsibility for the crimes against humanity committed by it in the past it can neither cover up its monstrous crimes of aggression nor write them off nor can it go unpunished. A spokesman for the Korean Democratic Lawyers Association warned this in a statement Monday, 95 years since the Japanese imperialists enacted "Korean Corporeal Punishment Ordinance", a colonial fascist law, to intensify the medieval suppression of the Korean people.
    The statement continued:
After their illegal occupation of Korea by force of arms early in the last century the Japanese imperialists promulgated the "Korean Corporeal Punishment Ordinance" on March 18, 1912 as No. 41 "Order of Governor-General of Korea". And on December 10 of the same year, they promulgated "Regulations for the Enforcement of the Corporeal Punishment Ordinance" stipulating harsh methods to carry out the ordinance as official order No. 40.
Such fascist laws as "Korean Civil Ordinance" and "Korean Criminal Ordinance" were also promulgated in those days to establish a colonial oppressive system in Korea.
The number of cases of imprisonment of Koreans by the Japanese imperialists on the strength of various evil laws including "Korean Corporeal Punishment Ordinance" and "Korean Criminal Ordinance" increased to more than 142,000 in 1918 from over 52,000 in 1912.
The world does not know such ferocious imperialists as the Japanese imperialists who enforced a harsh colonial rule even by using methods of corporeal punishment dating back to the period of feudalism in a bid to dominate and enslave other nations.
Japan has not yet made an apology and compensation for the unprecedented hideous state-sponsored crimes committed by it during its occupation of Korea although more than six decades have passed since its defeat in the Second World War.
As disclosed by Japanese Prime Minister Abe's reckless remarks, Japan is leaving no means untried to cover up the sexual slavery for the imperial Japanese army and other hideous crimes committed by Japan in the past. Moreover, it is now working with bloodshot eyes to stage a comeback to Korea and escalate its moves for confrontation with the DPRK, whitewashing its history of aggression and inciting militarism.
The Korean nation will never forget those crimes but certainly force Japan to pay for them.

Greetings to Tunisian President

Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Tunisian President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali on Monday on the occasion of the Tunisian national day.
Kim in the message wished the friendly Tunisian people new progress and prosperity, expressing the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries will grow stronger in the interests of the two peoples.

End to Unjust Acts of Japan Demanded

Tokyo, March 17 (KNS-KCNA) -- Ko Tok U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and director of the Department in charge of Life of Koreans in Japan, and representatives of the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Japan, the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Korean Teachers and School Clerks in Japan and the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon paid a visit to the cabinet office of Japan on Mar. 12 to strongly demand the withdrawal of the ban on the portcall of the ship "Mangyongbong-92" and stop to the repression of Chongryon.
First the representatives handed a letter of protest to the Japanese government adopted at the meeting of Koreans in Japan held on Mar. 3 to denounce the unjustifiable political suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan and human rights abuses by the Japanese authorities.
Saying that the Koreans in Japan were undergoing sufferings due to the ban on the portcall of the ship, they urged the Japanese authorities to open at once the route of visit to the homeland by the Koreans in Japan from the humanitarian point of view.
They also lodged a stern protest with the Japanese authorities for suppressing Korean traders and manufacturers, taking issue with their legitimate activities.
They strongly demanded an immediate retraction of the ban on the portcall of the ship "Mangyongbong-92" and lifting of the ban on and control of reentry of officials of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon into Japan, stop to the untenable search of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan, prevention of assaults and abusive words to students of Korean schools, early normalization of diplomatic relations based on the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration, and so on.
