Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- Round-table talks, a lecture, a film show and a photo exhibition were held in Malta, Syria, the Czech Republic and Senegal from Feb. 12 to 18 on the occasion of the February holiday.
Displayed in the venues of the events were photos of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il giving on-site guidance to units of the Korean People's Army and the work in various fields.
The secretary of the Damascus Rural Provincial Committee of Syria's Baath Arab Socialist Party said at round-table talks that the Korean people led by Kim Jong Il have emerged victorious in the confrontation with the U.S.
Jaroslav Kafka, chairman of the Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association, at round-table talks noted that the Korean people struggling against the U.S. moves against the DPRK, true to the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, convinced him that the DPRK would register victory only.
He called upon the world progressive people to wage a dynamic struggle, regarding socialism in the DPRK as a beacon.
The participants in the film show held in the Czech Republic watched the Korean film "The grand mass gymnastic and artistic performance 'Arirang'," laureate of "Kim Il Sung Prize."
Japanese Prime Minister's Reckless Remarks under Fire
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps in its statement on Mar. 5 demanded Japan make a formal apology and legal compensation for its past sexual slavery, according to the south Korean KBS.
Recalling that that day Japanese Prime Minister Abe let loose reckless remarks that even if a resolution on the issue of the "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army submitted by lawmakers of the U.S. House of Representatives to the U.S. Congress passes through it, there would be no new apology for it, the statement expressed irrepressible astonishment at them.
Japan insisted more than once that those who talk about the issue of "comfort women" should produce evidence, if they have any, after destroying materials about the sexual slavery, the statement noted, and continued:
Recently materials proving the Japanese government's involvement in the crimes related to the "comfort women" were discovered, the results of the probe conducted by the UN and other international bodies clearly testified to the fact that it was responsible for them and not a few victims of the sexual slavery were unanimous in asserting that it was truth.
The statement stressed that the world progressive people would not forgive the shameless behavior of Japan.
Transfer of "Right to Command Wartime Operations" Termed Charade
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and the south Korean military were reported to have agreed on the issue of transfer of the "right to command wartime operations" to south Korea, but that is quite meaningless so long as the U.S. military presence and domination over south Korea and its moves for a war of aggression go on. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said this in a statement released on Mar. 8 in connection with the fact that the U.S. secretary of Defense and the south Korean minister of Defence at their recent talks held in Washington agreed to transfer the above-said right to south Korea till April of 2012, that is five years later and officially announced it.
Citing facts to prove the U.S. continued military presence and domination over south Korea and its ceaseless moves for war of aggression, the statement said:
This indicates that the U.S. loudmouthed transfer of the above-mentioned right to south Korea is nothing but hypocrisy and there will be, practically, no change in the present master-and-servant military relations between the U.S. and south Korea and on the contrary it will only reinforce the U.S. military presence and domination over south Korea.
Lurking behind this charade is a sinister aim to instigate the south Korean bellicose forces to launch a war of aggression against the north and evade the responsibility for the provocation of the war by painting it as a "fratricidal war."
All these facts go to prove that the U.S. much publicized "transfer of right to command wartime operations" is nothing but a deceptive farce to mislead the domestic and foreign mind-set and opinion and a product of the dangerous plot to escalate its moves for war.
The U.S. would be well advised not to mislead the public opinion through the above-said charade, but take its hands off the Korean Peninsula and quit south Korea, taking all its equipment for war of aggression with it as early as possible.
The south Korean authorities should give up the farce of "take-over of the right to command wartime operations" and take practical measures to put an end to the U.S. domination and interference and withdraw the U.S. troops from south Korea.
Halt to War Exercises Urged in South Korea
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- The Anti-U.S. Women's Society of south Korea reportedly issued a statement titled "Immediately stop south Korea-U.S. joint military exercises threatening peace on the Korean Peninsula" on March 5 to denounce the scheme of the United States and the south Korean authorities to stage "reception, staging, onward-movement and integration," a joint war game.
Noting that the joint military rehearsal is a drill for a total war according to the "OPLAN 5027," a plan for a preemptive attack on the north, the statement said the exercises projected in south Korea prove that there is no change in the U.S. intention to stifle the DPRK by military force.
The statement urged the U.S. and the south Korean authorities to promptly drop the planned joint military exercises.
Withdrawal of Troops Dispatched Abroad Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- A candle-light event was reportedly held in Seoul on March 5 to demand the withdrawal of troops dispatched abroad under the sponsorship of the People's Action against Troop Dispatch in south Korea.
Speakers at the event said the death of Yun Jang Ho, a soldier of the south Korean army dispatched to Afghanistan, was a result of the humiliating policy of the "government" following the U.S. lead.
There must be no more victims to the U.S. war of aggression, they stressed.
An appeal read out at the event said the U.S. should stop the unjustifiable wars of aggression it is waging in Iraq and Afghanistan under the cloak of "war on terrorism."
It also strongly demanded that the "government" stop dispatching troops and immediately withdraw all the south Korean troops dispatched overseas.
Scientists' Big Share in Updating of Economy
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- The February 17 Shock Brigade of Scientists and Technicians is playing a great role in the campaign of updating the national economy in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The brigade formed on February 17, Juche 67 (1978) is made up of scientists and technicians with different special knowledge.
The members of the brigade have been dispatched to industrial establishments and construction sites throughout the country to solve tasks of scientific research arising there and introduce significant technical inventions into production.
They have registered many successes in various sectors of the national economy in the first two and more months of the year.
A team dispatched to the Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province is applying agricultural scientific successes to farming and deepening their researches into improving the living standard of peasants including the introduction of methane gas system in rural villages.
Undertakings for introducing new species of crops, advanced farming methods and highly efficient microorganism fertilizers are taking place in Thongchon in Kangwon Province, Yonan in South Hwanghae Province and Sunchon in South Phyongan Province.
Those active in the Sunchon Area Youth Coal Complex have buckled down to the research into solving issues raised in extensive tunneling and coal-cutting. And the Rahung Railway Factory has solved by the method of extrusion the issue of extruded tubes which was raised an urgent one in operating the induction furnace of the Steel-casting Workshop and is producing various sizes of alloy steel by itself to meet its demand.

Efficient Poultry Facilities Made
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- Efficient large-sized incubators and fowl pellet fodder machine have been manufactured in the DPRK, enjoying a great popularity.
The newly-made incubator with capacity and incubation rate higher than the existing one is of great significance in intensifying the duckling production.
It, which consists of hatching chamber, air-supplying apparatus, egg-rolling apparatus, damp-producer and air-cooler, deals with tens of thousands of eggs at a time.
The air-supplying apparatus keeps the temperature and humidity even in the hatching chamber, and the egg-rolling apparatus is movable.
The fowl pellet fodder machine makes different sizes of pellet fodder for mother ducks and ducklings.
Assorted feed produced by the machine boosts the weight-increasing rate per unit of feed by 40 percent and the utility rate of feed by 13 percent compared with the previous one.
Anniversary of South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration Marked
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for commemorating the second anniversary of the formation of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration reportedly took place at the Paek Bom Memorial Hall in Seoul on Mar. 5.
Paek Rak Chong, permanent representative of the south side committee, at the ceremony reviewed the endeavors made by the committee over the past two years for reunification and called on all the fellow countrymen to expand the campaign to glorify the era of June 15 reunification.
The ceremony was preceded by a regular meeting of co-representatives of the south side committee for 2007.
Paek was reelected permanent representative of the committee at the meeting.
An action program of the committee for the year was discussed there.
Boosting International Unity and Cooperation Urged
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- Boosting international unity and cooperation arises as an important requirement in upholding Juche character and national identity, declares Rodong Sinmun in an article Friday.
Stressing that international unity and cooperation should strictly be based on the principle of independence, the author of the article goes on:
Only when the countries and peoples aspiring after independence support and closely cooperate with each other can each country defend the national independence and sovereignty and achieve the independent development of the nation and common prosperity.
The countries and peoples opposed to the imperialists' policy of aggression and war, neo-colonial domination and subjugation have common aim and interests in their struggle. The imperialist forces cannot dare run wild, if the anti-imperialist, independent countries unite and support each other in the common struggle against imperialism.
South-South cooperation should be expanded on the principle of collective self-reliance. If the developing countries aspiring after independence develop this cooperation, they can frustrate the "globalization" maneuvers of the imperialists and successfully build an independent national economy without depending upon them. And they can improve their material and cultural life in a creative way to meet the desire and demand of their people.
The democratization of the international community is an important requirement in guaranteeing the Juche character and national identity of each country. This can never be realized apart from international unity and cooperation.
The only way of barring the imperialist forces from freely manipulating international organizations including the United Nations and of resolving all the international issues on democratic principles is for the countries aspiring after independence to boost international unity and cooperation.

The WPK and the DPRK people are strengthening unity and cooperation with the peoples of all the countries worldwide aspiring after independence on the basis of this idea and are making strenuous efforts to establish fair international relations and order.
The DPRK will fulfill its international duty and mission for the era in the implementation of the common cause of adhering to the Juche character and national identity of the countries and nations and realizing global independence by energetically striving to boost unity and cooperation with the progressive people of the world and democratize the international community.
U.S. and S. Korean Warlike Forces Urged to Give up Projected RSOI and Foal Eagle
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- The south Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command on March 7 announced a plan to stage RSOI and the Foal Eagle joint military exercises from March 25 to 31, according to military sources.
The above-said exercises will reportedly draw 6,000 reinforcements and the U.S. forces in south Korea, at least 29,000 U.S. troops in all, and involve the task force of super large nuclear-powered carrier Ronald Reagan, Stealth fighter bombers and other war hardware of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces and the south Korean forces.
The projected saber-rattling is reckless war maneuvers aimed at massively hurling U.S. troops and latest military hardware into south Korea in case of "contingency" on the Korean Peninsula in a bid to preempt an attack on the DPRK.
The large-scale military exercises to be staged by the U.S. and the south Korean warlike forces against the DPRK despite the repeated warnings issued by the DPRK and the unanimous censure and condemnation of the public at home and abroad are a very serious military provocation to vitiate the atmosphere of the on-going dialogue and deteriorate the inter-Korean relations and push the situation on the peninsula to the brink of a war.
This clearly proves that "dialogue" and 'improvement of relations" much touted by the U.S. and the south Korean authorities are nothing but sophism aimed to deceive the public opinion at home and abroad and that they pursue confrontation and war only.
The reality goes to clearly prove once again that the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean warlike forces are chiefly to blame for bringing the tense situation on the peninsula closer to the brink of a war. It also testifies to the fact that they are harassers of peace and security on the peninsula and the chieftain of a war as they cause the dark clouds of a nuclear war to gather over this land.
It is the mettle of Songun Korea and the will of the servicepersons and people of the DPRK to respond to force in kind and retaliate against any provocation with merciless counter-blows.
The U.S. and the south Korean warlike forces should unconditionally cancel their plan to stage the extremely dangerous DPRK-targeted war exercises, pondering over the ensuing grave consequences.
DPRK Girls Football Team Beats Japanese Rival
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- Preliminary round of group league matches of the First U-16 Asian Women's Soccer Championships is now under way in Kuala Lumpur among teams belonging to Groups A and B.
The DPRK team belonging to Group B trounced its Japanese rival 1:0 on March 8.
Korean girls will play its last match with the Thai eleven on March 10.

Califican de formalista devolucion de "mando" de EE.UU. al Sur de Corea
Pyongyang, 9 de marzo (ATCC) -- En las conversaciones "ministeriales de defensa", celebradas hace poco en Washington, Estados Unidos y las autoridades militares surcoreanas acordaron transferir al Sur de Corea hasta abril de 2012 el "mando operacional para el tiempo de guerra", que tienen hasta ahora las tropas norteamericanas, y lo anunciaron oficialmente.
Al respecto, el portavoz del Comite por la Reunificacion Pacifica de la Patria (CRPP) emitio el dia 8 una declaracion.
Esto no tiene ninguna significacion mientras perduren la ocupacion militar y la dominacion sobre el suelo surcoreano por parte de las tropas norteamericanas y sus maniobras destinadas a la guerra de agresion.
Es decir, el meramente formalista traspaso del mando referido no producira ningun cambio esencial en las actuales relaciones militares entre EE.UU. y el Sur de Corea, caracterizadas por la subordinacion del segundo al primero, y al contrario, acentuara la ocupacion militar y la dominacion de las tropas gringas sobre el territorio surcoreano.
Ademas, detras de ello, se halla un siniestro intento de EE.UU. de lanzar a las fuerzas belicistas surcoreanas a la guerra de agresion contra el Norte de Corea para eludir su responsabilidad por tal conflicto desatado al pintarlo como "el fratricida".
Todos los hechos demuestran que esa farsa para enganar la opinion publica interna y externa no pasa de ser un peligroso complot para intensificar las maniobras belicistas.
En lugar de recurrir a esa jugada, EE.UU. debe retirar lo mas pronto posible a sus tropas del Sur de Corea junto con todos los equipos belicos y sacar su mano de la Peninsula Coreana.
Por su parte, las autoridades surcoreanas deben dejar de esforzarse por recibir el mando en cuestion sino tomar medidas practicas para poner fin a la dominacion e intervencion de EE.UU. y hacer retirarse a los uniformados de este pais.
Rodong Sinmun llama a fortalecer la solidaridad internacional
Pyongyang, 9 de marzo (ATCC) -- Consolidar la solidaridad y cooperacion internacionales es un importante requisito para mantener el caracter Juche y la nacionalidad, adelanta el diario Rodong Sinmun.
En un articulo individual publicado este viernes, el rotativo subraya que la solidaridad y la cooperacion en el ambito mundial deben basarse en el principio de independencia y prosigue:
Cuando los paises y los pueblos aspirantes a la independencia se respalden reciprocamente y se cooperen estrechamente, ellos podran defender la independencia nacional y la soberania y lograr el desarrollo independiente de la nacion y la prosperidad comun.
Tienen punto comun el objetivo de lucha y los intereses de los paises y pueblos que luchan contra la agresion, la politica belicista, la dominacion neocolonialista y la subyugacion de los imperialistas. Pues, si los paises independientes y antiimperialistas se apoyan y se solidarizan en la lucha comun contra los imperialistas, estos no podran actuar a su capricho.
Hay que desarrollar la cooperacion Sur-Sur en el principio del auto-sosten colectivo.
Cuando los paises en vias de desarrollo la fortalecen, pueden frustrar las maniobras de "globalizacion" de los imperialistas, construir exitosamente la economia nacional sin dependerse de estos y desarrollar con creatividad la vida material y cultural de acuerdo con la aspiracion y demanda de su pueblo.
La democratizacion de la sociedad internacional es otro requisito para preservar el caracter Juche y la nacionalidad de cada pais y es imposible alcanzarla al margen de la solidaridad y cooperacion internacionales.
La unica via para impedir el manejo de la ONU y otras organizaciones internacionales al albedrio de las fuerzas imperialistas y solucionar todos los problemas internacionales en el principio democratico reside en consolidar la solidaridad y cooperacion internacionales entre los paises aspirantes a la independencia.
La independencia, la paz y la amistad constituyen el ideal de la politica exterior del Partido del Trabajo de Corea. Brigada de cientificos y tecnicos de Corea
Pyongyang, 9 de marzo (ATCC) -- La Brigada de Cientificos y Tecnicos "17 de Febrero" de Corea, fundada el mismo dia del 67 (1978) de la Era Juche, esta integrada por los cientificos y tecnicos poseedores de los conocimientos profesionales de distintas ramas.
Los brigadistas despliegan dinamicas actividades para la modernizacion de la economia nacional.
En las fabricas, empresas y lugares de construccion de distintas localidades del pais ellos cumplieron numerosas tareas de investigacion cientifica y aplicaron en la practica los proyectos de innovacion tecnica de valor dando grandes beneficios al Estado.
Este ano tambien ellos han logrado muchos exitos en varias esferas de la economia nacional.
En la Granja Cooperativa de Migok de la ciudad de Sariwon de la provincia de Hwanghae del Norte libran la labor de investigacion necesaria para la mejora de la vida de los habitantes tales como la aplicacion de los logros de investigacion de ciencias agricolas y realizacion de la gasificacion de metano en los hogares campesinos.
En Thongchon de la provincia de Kangwon, Yonan de la provincia de Hwanghae del Sur, Sunchon de la provincia de Phyong-an del Sur y otras localidades ellos desarrollan las labores para aplicar las nuevas variedades de las plantas agricolas, los avanzados metodos agricolas y el abono microbio de alta eficiencia.
En el Complejo Carbonifero Juventud de la Zona de Sunchon dan acicate a la investigacion para resolver los problemas que se presentan para la perforacion y extraccion de gran escala de carbon.
La Fabrica del Ferrocarril de Rahung produce por cuenta propia el acero de aleacion de distintos estandartes. Llego a producir con el metodo de expulsion a presion el tubo de calentamiento por induccion que se presenta como un problema apremiante para poner en funcionamiento el horno de induccion del taller de fundicion de acero
Los brigadistas despachados a la Fabrica de Farmaceutica Coryo de Kanggye, la Fabrica de Locomotoras Electricas Kim Jong Thae, la Fabrica de Maquinaria Textil de Pyongyang, la Central Termoelectrica de Pyongyang Este y otras plantas importantes tambien aceleran la investigacion para situar sobre una nueva base cientifica y tecnica los procesos de produccion.
