Abrogation of NSL Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- The Family Movement for Realizing Democracy in south Korea reportedly held the 651st Thursday meeting in Seoul on Feb. 1, at which it declared that it would fight out for the abrogation of the "National Security Law." Speakers at the meeting referred to the fact that the security authorities, who would fake up all sorts of "cases," recently searched the house of Ri Si U, a media-person, charging that he "gave away a state secret."
Such reckless suppression of Ri who has worked for peace is attributable to the NSL, an evil law of the times that is still left intact, they said.
They held that the security mechanism should be dissolved without fail as it is used only to imprison pro-reunification patriots and democrats.

Struggle against GNP Staged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- A press conference denouncing the "Grand National Party," a descendant of Chun Doo Hwan, was reportedly called in front of the GNP building in Seoul on Feb. 2 under the sponsorship of the South Kyongsang Provincial Measure Committee of south Korea against "Ilhae Park."     Then, a statement denouncing the GNP was read out at the press conference. It said that if the GNP connives at the case of "Ilhae Park," the people would wage a decisive resistance against it which is branded as a party defiling the people and committing crimes against ethics and a party seeking to restore the "5th Republic."
After the press conference, members of civic and public organizations including the measure committee struggled to have an interview with the representative of the GNP to convey a written protest to him.
    They staged a demonstration.

Japan's Dangerous Scheme to Build New Support System for War under Fire

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Japanese Prime Minister Abe some time ago addressed a joint session of both houses, setting out the policy orientation and targets for this year, in which he elaborated on the need to "revise the constitution." Viewing this as a clear indication that the goal of his Cabinet is nothing but militarization peculiar to Japan, a by-lined article of Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says: The Abe Cabinet is pitching for turning Japan into a state pursuing a war under the flowery signboard of building "a beautiful country."
It, to begin with, is going to change the present state system into a wartime system for overseas aggression.
The Japanese militarist forces revived under the aegis of the U.S. imperialists have long sought to replace the state system based on the "pacifist constitution" with one allowing lawful aggression overseas.
In recent years, the Japanese reactionary ruling camp has become more outspoken in their push for completely changing the state system into a wartime system.
Abe in his Diet speech waxed eloquent, blaring that "it is now time to embark anew and boldly revise the postwar regime by going back to the starting point," and it was his "mission to draw up a new national image for Japan."
The Abe Cabinet intends to reshape the state structure after the U.S. pattern to subordinate it to the moves for overseas aggression.
The Defense Agency has been upgraded to Defense Ministry in the Abe Cabinet. This is a big step toward the building of a state pursuing a war.
Now it is going to scrap the "pacifist constitution" in a bid to make Japan a war-oriented state.
The word "pacifist" could be attached to the present constitution of Japan because Article 9 of it bans possession of war capability and war itself. The Japanese reactionary ruling camp is going to get rid of such basic provisions.
The Abe group is working to create a social climate favorable for bringing a war-oriented state into shape by inculcating militarist idea into the minds of the Japanese people in real earnest. It is only too natural that the world is heightening vigilance against the militarization maneuvers of the Japanese reactionaries.

U.S. Accused of Patronizing Japan's Distortion of History

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- The United States is now openly using as an English textbook for middle school students in all its regions a historical novel of Japan which shamelessly distorts the history of aggression of Japan and insults the Korean nation. This book is said to have been distributed in some foreigners' schools in south Korea, too. Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Wednesday says:
It is an intolerable mockery of and insult to the Korean nation and a very nefarious act trampling upon justice and praising the history of injustice for the U.S. to allow itself to use the novel distorting history as a middle school textbook, in which the reactionaries of Japan maliciously slander the Korean nation.
As for the autobiographical novel which is said to have been written by a daughter of a Japanese war criminal who was eleven years old when the Japanese imperialists were defeated, it is full of lies and fabrication utterly inconsistent with the then historical environment and facts.
The U.S. must know that Japan kept Korea under their military occupation and brutal and harsh colonial fascist repressive rule unparalleled in history for over 40 years. Nevertheless, the U.S. is openly using the blatantly distorted history book of Japan, which was written by an offspring of a war criminal. This reveals its intention to bury in oblivion the bloody past crimes of the islanders and use them as a shock brigade of aggression and war by misleading public opinion.
All this proves irrefutably that the U.S. and Japan are dangerous accomplices and conspirators in the hostile policies against the DPRK and aggressive moves.
The criminal acts of Japan insulting the Korean nation and brazenly distorting history and the U.S. imperialists zealously singing duet with them can never be overlooked.

The members of the group placed floral baskets and bouquets before the statues of President Kim Il Sung at the Pochonbo Revolutionary Battle Site and on the shore of Lake Samji before making bows.
While visiting the Pochonbo Revolutionary Battle Site, the members of the study tour group deeply grasped the gifted tactics and wisdom of Kim Il Sung, going round the then historic command post of the Pochonbo battle, police post of the Japanese imperialists, sub-county administration office and other battle sites.

Sinister Intention of Japanese Reactionaries in Suppressing Chongryon Debunked

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- What the Japanese reactionaries seek in their hysteric suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan is to aggravate the DPRK-Japan relations by getting on the nerve of the DPRK by persecuting Koreans in Japan and suppressing Chongryon to destroy it and, with this as a pretext, justify their clamorous sanctions and pressure upon the DPRK and realize their ambition to stage a comeback to Korea, notes Minju Joson in a news analysis Wednesday. The analyst goes on:
The suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan should be regarded as a token of the ill-will and moral vulgarity of the Samurai clan ignorant of international law and elementary reason of humankind.
It must not go unnoticed that the suppression of Chongryon by the Japanese reactionaries is timing to coincide with their hostile acts against the DPRK which are getting more malicious than ever before.
These days they are running about like a headless chicken, openly crying for "sanctions and pressure" upon the DPRK, availing themselves of the U.S. hostile policy toward it. Things have come to such a pass that the Japanese ruling quarters and the group of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan are letting loose an ugly torrent of outbursts urging hasty preparations for taking part in armed sanctions against the DPRK.
Far from honestly reflecting on and compensating for the past crimes, the Japanese are piling up crimes upon the crimes they have already committed, persisting in the moves against the DPRK and Chongryon.
These moves can never be tolerated.
The Japanese reactionaries should stop at once their foolish acts hostile to the DPRK and Chongryon, looking straight into the hatred for Japan rankling deeply in the hearts of the Korean people.

The anti-Japanese forerunners covered thorny roads, crossing steep mountains and pulling through all sorts of ordeals under the guidance of Kim Il Sung, thus making a history of unprecedented resistance at the cost of their blood and sweat that won the admiration of the world people, he said, adding: The spirit of devotedly defending the leader and the indomitable revolutionary spirit displayed by the anti-Japanese guerrillas are now being inherited by our servicepersons and people.
Noting that the brilliant revolutionary traditions created by the President in the period of the long-drawn anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle serve as the strong roots of our Party and revolution, he said that the Korean revolution is winning victory after victory because these traditions of Juche are being steadfastly carried forward and developed generation after generation.

In order to train students as able scientists and technicians required by the IT era it is necessary to establish Juche in education, combine education and practice, steadily improve the contents and quality of education and decisively strengthen the scientific and technological education in particular, he stressed.
He noted that by training an increasing number of scientists and technicians with a high level of technology in a brief span of time the university should settle issues now arising in making the national economy Juche-oriented, modern and scientific and, at the same time, actively explore new fields of science and technology which are of weighty importance in the development of the mining and metal industries in order to make a positive contribution to the rapid development of the nation's overall science and technology.
