He said it is world startling achievements that the Korean people built the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Arch of Triumph, the Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification, the Mansudae Assembly Hall and other edifices by their own efforts and with their wisdom.
Monumental structures standing in various parts of Pyongyang are magnificent and peculiar in their architectural style and profound in their ideological and artistic contents, he noted, and went on:
What drew our particular attention is the Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification.
The monument reflecting the unanimous aspiration of the Korean people to surely achieve the country's reunification, the cherished desire of the nation, is a peculiar structure which we have never seen before.
We were deeply impressed by the fact that all the structures in the DPRK are of popular character. Architectural art based on the popular character represents the true picture of the peculiar architectural art in the DPRK.
All the successes made by the Korean people in the field of architecture are the fruition of the dynamic leadership of Kim Jong Il, genius of architecture. Our visit to the Paektusan Architectural Institute offered us an opportunity to know better about the successes made by the DPRK in construction. From the architectural point of view, all the structures in Pyongyang are in perfect artistic harmony with each other as they are national in style and meet the contemporary need of architectural beauty.
The Union of Mongolian Architects will boost exchange and cooperation with the Korean Union of Architects and positively contribute to the development of the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries.

Immediate Withdrawal of Troops from Iraq Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- The People's Action against the Troop Dispatch, an anti-war organization of south Korea, reportedly called a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 10 to demand withdrawal of "Jaitun" unit from Iraq. Speakers at the press conference said that the "government" is seeking to lay a "motion" at the "National Assembly" with a view to fooling people and extending the period of the stay of the unit in Iraq.
They stressed that the results of the recent mid-term election in the U.S. heralded the bankruptcy of the U.S. unilateral military hegemonism and showed that the "reconstruction" units dispatched to Iraq cannot play a positive role.

Patient with Serious Burn Recovered His Health

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- It is a beautiful trait of the Korean people to devote their all for the society and the collective, regarding other's trouble as their own. In particular, medical workers make no scruple to render their own blood and skin to patients. Such things are often to happen in the DPRK.
It was in the latter half of April that a worker with serious burns was hospitalized to the Hospital attached to the Ministry of Railways.
He was in a critical condition owing to a third-degree burn on the 62 percent of his whole body and laryngeal edema caused by windpipe burn. Medical workers of the hospital buckled down treatment to bring the patient back to life. They held an emergency consultation and took concrete measures. And they put their heart and soul into the treatment day and night.
On the day when the third skin grafting operation was held, the director, officials, doctors and nurses and even a 70-year old doctor of the hospital donated pieces of their skin to the patient.
Thanks to the 18 times of blood transfusion, application of various medicines, 8 times of surgeries, big and small, and warm care shown by doctors and nurses, the patient grew better and had his health recovered some 150 days after his hospitalization. Choe Po Sun, vice-director in charge of technology, told KCNA that the efforts of the collective which is united with the same idea and will wrought such a miracle and the resurrection of the patient could be seen only under the Korean-style socialist system in which the people's life is valued most.

Anniversary of Corrective Movement in Syria Observed

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- The Corrective Movement in Syria on Nov. 16, 1970 was a historic movement that reflected the desire of the Syrian people to protect the independence of the country and the dignity of the nation and build independent new Syria, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article devoted to the 36th anniversary of the movement. The article says:
The U.S. and its ally Israel, regarding Syria holding high the banner of independence against imperialism as a thorn in their eyes, have worked hard to break the anti-imperialist independent stand and the will of the Syrian Arab people, employing every conceivable despicable method such as interference in its internal affairs, military threat and economic sanctions.
No machinations of the enemies could bring the Syrian Arab people confident of the justice of their cause to their knees.
The Syrian Arab people are now hastening the construction of independent and prosperous new Syria while smashing the moves of the enemies against Syria under the leadership of their President Bashar Al-Assad.
The Korean people send support and solidarity to the Syrian Arab people in their struggle to retake the Golan Heights from Israel, achieve territorial integrity and find a comprehensive and just solution to the Middle East issue.
The just struggle of the Syrian Arab people steadfastly advancing along the road of independence against imperialism is sure to yield a desired result.

Balderdash of Lawmaker from GNP Assailed

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- Lawmaker from the Grand National Party of south Korea Jong Hyong Gun recently let loose sheer nonsense that the Korean Social Democratic Party (KSDP) is an "organization for operations" and the KSDP is just a cover name, not content with groundlessly slandering the north. A spokesman for the Central Committee of the KSDP issued a statement Thursday in this regard. Vehemently denouncing the GNP as a group of anti-reunification traitors, the statement continued:
The KSDP has long been recognized as a political party as it has waged a ceaseless struggle for the prosperity of the country and its independent and peaceful reunification against flunkeyism and dogmatism since its foundation. Such being a hard fact, Jong did not hesitate to let loose such vituperation against the KSDP. This was prompted by his sinister intention to falsify truth and mislead public opinion.
His reckless remarks can not be viewed as his personal view. They reflect the view of the GNP keen on inciting confrontation between the fellow countrymen and breeding plots against the country's reunification and the north.
We will never pardon the GNP keen on hatching plots against the north and inciting confrontation with it while hurling mud at the dignified political system in it.

Japan's Action to Ban Entry of Ship "Mangyongbong-92" Assailed

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- The Korean Committee for Aiding Overseas Koreans in a statement issued Thursday vehemently denounced the Japanese reactionaries' hostile policy towards the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and their acts to exterminate the Koreans in Japan including their action to ban the entry of the DPRK Ship "Mangyongbong-92" and strongly demanded an immediate halt to these acts. Recalling that some days ago the Japanese Diet passed the Cabinet's "proposal on sanctions" which calls for banning the entry of the DPRK's large cargo and passenger ship "Mangyongbong-92" under the pretext of its missile firing exercise and nuclear test, the statement said:
By banning the entry of the above-said ship by law the Japanese authorities perpetrated the thrice-cursed criminal act of totally blocking the humanitarian navigation because this action prevented the compatriots in Japan from visiting their beloved families and relatives in the homeland to inquire after their health, call on sick persons and have ceremonial occasions together.
This glaringly revealed before the very eyes of the world that Japan is not a law-abiding state but a tundra of human rights as it is ceaselessly enacting various kinds of evil laws aimed at violating people's right to existence and sovereignty. Through the above-said action the Japanese reactionaries are intensifying various forms of control and suppression of Koreans in Japan in a bid to detain them and keep them from properly breathing in Japan.
The DPRK's launch of missiles and nuclear test have nothing to do with Chongryon and the Koreans in Japan because they were proper measures for self-defence to cope with the U.S. imperialists' moves for a preemptive nuclear attack and protracted harsh sanctions and pressure upon the DPRK.
Nevertheless, the Japanese reactionaries are recklessly taking the lead in joining the U.S. imperialists in their military provocations and sanctions against the DPRK like thieves crying "Stop the thief!" They are mean enough to Chongryon and the Koreans in Japan as the main targets of their attack and violence.
Any form of sanctions against Chongryon and the Koreans in Japan means an infringement upon the sovereignty of the DPRK and it is the firm stand of the Korean people to respond to sanctions with retaliation.
The Japanese reactionaries' persistent moves to intensify the political suppression and persecution against Chongryon and the Koreans in Japan would only heighten the hatred and grudge of the Korean people against Japan, their sworn enemy, and make them merciless in their actions from A to Z.

The project has reached a final stage though it is not long since the construction of the power station started, he said, adding that this signal success is a striking demonstration of the persevering spirit and will of the officials and other working people in Jongphyong County which has a tradition of an indomitable struggle. He highly appreciated the achievements made by people in the county, noting that they have built a lot of structures by highly displaying the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, turning the county into a place better to live in.

The next leg of his guidance was the Kwangpho Duck Farm. Making the round of the newly built processing shop, he sent high appreciation and thanks to the builders and employees of the farm for having devoted themselves to the prosperity of the country.
Ducks belong to poultry of great economic value as it is easy to raise them and they provide highly nutritious meat and eggs, he said, stressing the need to raise ducks in a big way.
Noting that it is important to satisfactorily solve the problem of feed in order to keep the production of duck going at a high rate, he underlined the need for those cooperative farms in charge of feed for this farm to steadily boost the yield of grains. He called for earnestly conducting researches into ducks of good stock which grow fast while consuming less feed and developing them and widely applying technology for putting the breeding on a scientific basis to suit the physiological characteristic of ducks. The Kwangpho Duck Farm is a historic farm associated with the great efforts made by President Kim Il Sung who was so considerate of the work to provide the people with a lot of meat and eggs, he said, stressing the need to continue energetically pushing ahead with the process of modernizing and scientizing the farm and dynamically going ahead with a long-term plan to boost the production capacity and thus set a model for the production of livestock products.
While providing field guidance to South Hamgyong Province, he set forth tasks to be undertaken to put the economic work in the province on a higher stage. South Hamgyong Province has a great role to play in the nation's economic development as it has many key industries including chemical, machine-building and mining industries, he noted, expressing expectation and conviction that the province would perform a vanguard role in making a breakthrough towards a fresh leap forward. He was accompanied by Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Phung Gi, chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial People's Committee, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.C., WPK, and Jang Song Thaek and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the same.
