U.S. Chiefly to Blame for Torpedoing Process of Denuclearization of Korean Peninsula

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The U.S is chiefly to blame for torpedoing the process of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, say Pyongyang-based papers Wednesday in signed commentaries. Rodong Sinmun says:
The U.S. moves to turn south Korea into a nuclear arsenal started with its announcement 20 years ago that it would deploy Lance missile capable of carrying neutron bombs in south Korea and the deployment of Honest John nuclear missile there in 1958. It has since systematically escalated its moves to convert south Korea into its nuclear base for the last several decades.
The U.S. has become more undisguised and reckless in its moves to launch a nuclear war against the DPRK since the emergence of the present Bush administration. In January 2002 the U.S. adopted a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK as its policy in its report on the review of nuclear weapons. And in September of the same year Bush blustered in "the report on national security strategy" that the U.S. would use nuclear weapons when preemptive military strikes are made. The U.S. defense secretary uttered on November 17, 2003 during his visit to south Korea that the U.S. would mobilize even nuclear force when necessary, thus clearly revealing an attempt at a nuclear attack on the DPRK.
It was quite just for the DPRK to have built war deterrent as a means for just self-defence to protect the sovereignty and the right to existence of the country, given that the U.S. unilaterally scrapped the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework in which it committed itself neither to use nuclear weapons against the DPRK nor threaten it with them, steadily escalated the nuclear threat to it and attempted to provoke a nuclear war.
This being a hard reality, the U.S. is taking issue with the DPRK's measure for self-defence, while shelving its nuclear crimes perpetrated for years.
Unpardonable is the U.S. which cites the DPRK's war deterrent for self-defence a pretext for stepping up the nuclear arms race and provoking a nuclear war against it.
Minju Joson says that the reality today when the danger of a nuclear war is daily increasing due to the U.S. requires the Korean nation to wage a more dynamic struggle for peace against the U.S. and war.

UN Resolution Demanding Lift of Anti-Cuba Sanctions Hailed

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- A resolution demanding the U.S. lift economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba was adopted by an overwhelming majority approval of 183 member nations at the recent 61st session of the UN General Assembly. This is an expression of the international solidarity with Cuba. The U.S. anti-Cuba sanctions deserve such severe punishment by the world for its injustice and brigandish nature, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed commentary.
    The commentary goes on:
A pro-U.S. Batista dictatorial regime collapsed and a revolution triumphed in Cuba in January 1959. The U.S. has gone so mean as to pursue the vicious anti-Cuba policy of economic blockade since 1962.
Extraterritorial, unilateral and unjust measures are intolerable in the international relations.
The U.S. protracted anti-Cuba sanctions and blockade are a sort of economic and political war to isolate and stifle it and bring down the socialist system in it and a wanton violation of international law and the UN Charter.
The U.S. policy of sanctions and blockade against Cuba, has therefore, been censured and denounced by the international community. The UN adoption of several resolutions censuring the U.S. mean sanctions against Cuba is a clear proof of this.
The Cuban people are pushing forward the revolution and construction, foiling every move of the U.S. to tighten the sanctions against their country and isolate and stifle it while maintaining the socialist principle with the international support. The recent adoption of the UN resolution is a clear manifestation of the justice of the Cuban revolution and the international support and encouragement to it.
The Korean people warmly hail the adoption of the recent UN resolution and extend firm solidarity to the Cuban people in their struggle to defend the gains of the revolution and socialism which they have achieved at the cost of their lives despite the U.S. imperialists' vicious moves to isolate and stifle Cuba.

Withdrawal of Troops from Iraq Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The Democratic Labor Party of south Korea is coming out against the measure taken by the "government" to extend the period of south Korean troop presence in Iraq, according to KBS and CBS. A spokesman for the Democratic Labor Party in a commentary issued on Nov. 12 charged that the "government's" intention to cut back the strength of the troops present in Iraq by half and extend instead the period of their presence there for one year is as dangerous an action as voluntarily taking part in the U.S. criminal acts of aggression. It demanded the "government" immediately pull back the troops from Iraq.
On Nov. 10 Kwon Yong Gil, lawmaker from the above-said party, in his speech made at the session of the "National Assembly" urged the "government" to submit a detailed plan for the withdrawal of the troops from Iraq, stating that to this end the DLP would go ahead with a draft resolution demanding the pullback of the "Jaitun" unit from there.

Cancellation of Plan to Introduce U.S.-Made Plane Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in south Korea reportedly issued a commentary on Nov. 10 accusing the "Defense Administration" of having finally chosen a U.S.-made plane as an early-warning and control plane. The commentary recalled that the "Defense Administration" sponsored a meeting of the "defense promotion committee" on Nov. 8 at which it finally chose "Boeing B-737" as an air early-warning and control plane to be introduced to the south Korean army.
The administration's intention to introduce fighters of the next generation is aimed to support the U.S. in its preemptive attack on the DPRK and in its implementation of the design for realizing the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. troops present in south Korea, the commentary observed.
The civic and social organizations have called for the cancellation of the plan to introduce above-said plane more than once but the administration has persistently pushed ahead with it, the commentary deplored, demanding it retract its unilateral choice of the plane and totally reexamine a plan for the introduction of fighters of the next generation.

"Appeal to All People" Issued in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The Information Department of the Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF) made public an "appeal to all people" on Nov. 13, according to the Kuguk Jonson Internet site. The appeal said:
The pro-U.S. conservative forces including the "Grand National Party" have gone to extremes in their moves to play the role of a shock brigade in backing the U.S. in its desperate efforts to stifle the north and tighten unreasonable sanctions against it, the appeal noted, and continued: It has been a mode of existence of the successive pro-U.S. conservative forces to live on with treachery and seek a way out in the confrontation with the north.
The reckless anti-north charade staged by the above-said pro-U.S. conservative forces is aimed at turning the anti-U.S. and pro-north sentiment that has become a trend since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration into a pro-U.S. and anti-north trend and rallying the moribund remnants of the conservative forces, backed by the U.S., in a bid to seize "power" through the next presidential election.
It is important for protecting the dignity and interests of the nation and peace in this land and preserving the June 15 era of reunification to frustrate their racket of confrontation with the north.
The appeal called on the forces for progressive reforms to pool their efforts irrespective of regions, party affiliation and groupings and smash the wild ambition of the pro-U.S. conservative forces to usurp "power."
To launch a dynamic struggle for peace against the U.S. and war is part of the struggle to precipitate the destruction of the pro-U.S. conservative forces, the appeal noted, calling for fighting tooth and nail against the U.S. moves for a war and groundless sanctions and pressure upon the north.
The appeal underscored the need to pave wider avenue for national reconciliation, unity and cooperation under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself" and frustrate the GNP's din of demanding a "stop to cooperation with the north."
It called on the south Koreans to wholeheartedly support the Songun politics, a shield for protecting the nation and a treasured sword for national reunification, considering the north's nuclear deterrent for self-defence as national pride and honor.

Cambodian Diplomats Visit Korean Film Studio

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- Chhorn Hay, Cambodian ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of the embassy, visited the Korean Film Studio on Tuesday on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of independence of Cambodia. They first visited the statue of President Kim Il Sung at the film studio and paid tribute to him.
They moved on to the Revolutionary Museum of the Ministry of Culture. Being briefed on the fact that Kim Jong Il brought about the greatest success in the Juche-oriented culture and art with his outstanding ideological and theoretical activities and the tireless and energetic leadership, they looked round historic relics and materials on display.
Then they went round the mock-up location streets and recording rooms.
The Cambodian ambassador made an entry in the visitor's book.

The Aprokgang Sports Group came first in table-tennis (men and women's group) and weight-lifting (women's group) while the Rimyongsu Sports Group placed first in football (women) and the Sports Group of the Ministry of Commerce in boxing (women's group).
21 new national records were set in shooting, weight-lifting, swimming and bicycle events.

Magnetizing Water Filters Made

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The technical preparation center of the Electrical Machinery Industrial Management Bureau under the Ministry of Machine-Building Industry has made magnetizing water filters. The filter, which consists of filter bar, permanent magnet, air-tight gear and others, completely eliminates the pathogenic germ and provides clean water.
The filtrated water is efficacious for the prevention and treatment of diseases in nerves, blood vessel and digestive system, lithiasis, arthritis and skin disease. It has also a special virtue for health and the prevention of aging. It promotes the solubility and absorption of nutriment and metabolism in the human body.
The center manufactures two kinds of filters--MF-1 and MF-2. They are capable of filtering water of 60 liters per hour and 120 liters per hour and weigh 0.5 kilogram and 0.8 kilogram respectively. They are very simple to handle.

Kim Won Hui, First Woman Boxing Referee

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- There was a referee who attracted spectators' attention in boxing matches of the recent DPRK Championships. It is Kim Won Hui, 31, who belongs to the Sports Group of the Pyongyang Printing Combine. She is the first woman boxing referee in the country.
She, wearing referee's uniform suitable to her slim figure, judged the matches strictly and skillfully.
She started her sporting life with volleyball and aerial sports from a middle school. Later she became boxer with the introduction of women's boxing event in the country.
She, with rich experience in various sports events, completed the eight-year course of boxing, refereeing and foreign language at Korean University of Physical Education. It was in 2003 that she obtained the qualification for boxing referee.
She enriched her experience as a referee through the Pyongyang International Invitation Boxing Tournament held in 2005 and the recent DPRK Championships.

Unionists under KCTU of S. Korea Go on General Strike

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions reportedly held a "national rally of workers in 2006, inheritance of the spirit of martyr Jon Thae Il and victory of general strike" at the plaza of Seoul City Office and went on an indefinite general strike to achieve four-point demands including check on the retrogressive revision of the labor law on Nov. 12. Rally was attended by at least 30,000 unionists under the KCTU and its organizations and members of civic and public organizations including the "National People's Solidarity" and the "National Federation of Peasants Associations".
Jo Jun Ho, chairman of the KCTU, said in his address that a powerful general strike would be conducted in order to check the retrogressive revision of the labor law, check the law on the expansion of part-time jobs, stop negotiations for conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, totally reform the law on insurance of industrial disasters and achieve peace against war.
The strike would be a struggle for defending the vital rights of workers in the future, he said, calling upon all of them to turn out in the general strike.
Read out at the rally was the "guideline for the general strike No. 1" which called for going on a general strike as a warning on Nov. 15, staging an all-out strike to arouse all people to actions, participating in a candle-light rally on Nov. 22, staging a four-hour strike everyday from Nov. 23 to 28, going on an all-out strike for the same purpose on Nov. 22, 29 and Dec. 6 and entering into a general strike as soon as a "bill on part-time jobs" passes through the "Legal Committee of the south Korean National Assembly."
At the rally speakers including representatives of civic and public organizations called upon all the people to firmly solidarize to wage a one-million-people general struggle on Nov. 22.

S. Korean Conservative Forces' Frantic Moves under Fire

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The conservative forces in south Korea including the Grand National Party, when standing at the crossroads of cooperation with outside forces in war and cooperation with compatriots in peace, opted without hesitation for the cooperation with the foreign forces, thus laying bare their true colors as a party and a group of traitors. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes this in a signed article.
The pro-U.S. conservative forces in south Korea are kicking up a racket of confrontation, openly negating the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, a milestone of national reunification and a banner for achieving great national unity, the article notes, and goes on:
The June 15 joint declaration is a programme for reunification common to the nation in name and reality as it was adopted according to the unanimous will and wishes of all the fellow countrymen for national independence and peaceful reunification.
The issue of the DPRK's self-reliant defence power surfaced due to the nuclear threat escalated by the U.S. for years. It is nobody's secret that the U.S. deployed massively stockpiled nuclear weapons in south Korea when the DPRK was doing everything to reunify the divided country in a peaceful manner.
The conservative forces in south Korea including the GNP are slandering the DPRK's measure for self-defence, turning aside from this stark fact. This was prompted by their criminal attempt to scrap the joint declaration and bring the inter-Korean relations back into those of confrontation and belligerency.
Such reckless behavior of these forces is aimed, needless to say, at suppressing the forces for progressive reforms in the south Korean society and winning the next year's "presidential election".
Now that the sanctions of the U.S. and other international reactionaries against the DPRK to stifle it have reached an extreme phase, the anti-reunification forces including the GNP are running wild as if they had been waiting for this to happen, laying bare their true colors as top class pro-U.S. stooges and confrontation fanatics.
The U.S. is getting desperate to break the pluck and will of the DPRK taking the toughest stand to cope with its ever-increasing pressure and sanctions against it.
The group of traitors to the nation is making last-ditch efforts to torpedo even the dialogue and cooperation now under way between the north and the south.
All the Koreans in the north, the south and overseas should faithfully implement the June 15 joint declaration and smash the sycophantic and treacherous acts of the GNP and all other anti-reunification and traitorous forces opposed to the declaration.

Kim Yong Nam Receives Credentials from Ugandan Ambassador

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, received credentials from Wagidoso Madibo Charles, new Ugandan ambassador e. p. to the DPRK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today. On hand were Kim Hyong Jun, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and staff members of the Ugandan embassy here.
After receiving credentials, the president had a talk with the ambassador.

Reckless Remarks of Lawmaker from GNP Blasted

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- Jong Hyong Gun, lawmaker from the Grand National Party of south Korea, recently let loose a string of balderdash attacking the north. He asserted that the north is going to use the Kaesong Industrial Zone as a "frontline base" in case of emergency and "fund provided by the south side might have been diverted to the purpose of developing nukes in the north". He even let loose the sheer nonsense that the Korean Social Democratic Party (KSDP) is an "organization for operations" and a certain overseas Korean is an "operative."
A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said in a statement issued Wednesday in this regard: What Jong uttered is nothing but a charade based on sheer lies. It is a serious provocation as it malignantly slandered the dignified political system in the DPRK and an anti-reunification treacherous act aimed to totally scuttle the north-south cooperation based on the June 15 joint declaration and incite mistrust and confrontation between the fellow countrymen.
The development of the Kaesong Industrial Zone is an icon of the north-south cooperation and it started at the request of the south side. However, the GNP is going so reckless as to cry out that the north is turning it into a front-line base and the like, as if it were not enough with slandering the tour of Mt. Kumgang and the construction of the zone. This was prompted by its sinister intention to totally stem the trend of the June 15 era and bring the north-south relations back to the era of confrontation in the past.
It is preposterous for the GNP, a party of U.S. war servants, to dare paint the KSDP as an "organization for operations" in a bid to falsify facts and mislead public opinion. This only discloses its true colors as a party for hatching plots against the DPRK.
It is none other than the GNP, a foreign party, which even sacrifices the dignity and sovereignty of the nation to serve its American master, looking up to the U.S. as its "homeland," and does not bother to bluster that it will not rule out even a war.
The GNP is an enemy of peace and reunification and a group of criminals hell-bent on inciting confrontation between the fellow countrymen.
The DPRK will never pardon anyone who slanders its dignified political system and conducts a smear campaign against it on the basis of sheer lies.

S. Korean Bellicose Forces' Reckless Arms Buildup under Fire

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The south Korean bellicose forces should ponder over the grave consequences to be entailed by their reckless arms buildup and stop at once their moves to develop ultra-modern war equipment, which will only lead to their self-destruction, warns a spokesman for the Korean National Peace Committee in a statement released on Nov. 15. The south Korean bellicose forces announced on Nov. 9 that they rounded off the development of a mobile radar system as part of the "work to develop active protection mechanism" now under way at the cost of 12 billion won from 2003 to 2008, and would begin its test operation from 2007, the statement said, and continued:
They are loud-mouthed that they have indigenously developed a fuel cell for submarine in the wake of their announcement that tanks developed by south Korea would be deployed at combat units from 2011.
The south Korean bellicose forces have become more vociferous about their development of war hardware than ever before, while blustering that the above-said war hardware is targeted against the north. This is an undisguised provocation and challenge to the north and an unpardonable treacherous act of driving the situation to the military confrontation and war between the north and the south.
The development of new type armed equipment and their introduction frantically stepped up by the south Korean war-like forces are unjustifiable as they are nothing but treacherous acts of serving the U.S. in its nuclear war of aggression.

Japanese Government's Anti-DPRK, Anti-Chongryon Campaign under Fire

Tokyo, November 13 (KNS-KCNA) -- Officials and students of the central committees and Kanto regional branches of the Korean Youth League in Japan, the Korean Youth Commercial Association in Japan and the Korean Students Union in Japan staged a sit-in strike and a demonstration in front of the Dietmen's Hall from Nov. 8 to 10 in protest against the Japanese government's moves against the DPRK and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). They charged that arson, destruction, blackmail, violence, threatening remarks and other incidents against institutions of Chongryon and Korean students are occurring in an unbroken chain in Japan these days.
The Japanese government took actions not to allow the entry of the ship "Mangyongbong-92," ban the reentry of Korean residents into Japan or restrict it, cancel the exemption of the Chongryon-related facilities from the payment of fixed property tax, disturb the performances by the Kumgang-san Opera Troupe and disallow their use of facilities and so on, they said, adding that due to such unreasonable moves of the Japanese government, the elementary rights of the Koreans in Japan are seriously infringed upon and undergoing great sufferings in their life.
The participants in the protest actions held a meeting in the conference room of the hall of the Japanese House of Representatives on Nov. 10.
Ko Tok U, vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee and director of its department in charge of compatriots' life, and Ryang Ok Chul, vice-chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Japan, made speeches at the meeting to encourage the youths in their actions.
A report and speeches and solidarity speeches by representatives of Japanese youth organizations were made. Then letters from the headquarters of youths and students of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and the Korean Youth Council in the United States were introduced.
Officials of the Osaka Prefectural Headquarters of Chongryon and its affiliated organizations and Koreans in Japan conducted information service at main stations in Osaka on Nov. 9 and 10 in protest against the Japanese authorities' unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK and their suppression of Chongryon.

Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to Power Station

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Kumjingang Hungbong Youth Power Station built by Hamju County. He was briefed on the power station before a huge painting showing a panoramic view of the station. He went round generator and electricity distribution rooms to learn in detail about the construction of the power station and the electricity production there.
After seeing generators and the computerized control room, he highly praised the workers of the power station for having cut down the loss of electricity in transmission as much as possible by introducing advanced technology and the workers of the Ryongsong Machine Complex and the Songchongang Electrical Factory for having successfully manufactured efficient generators.
He mounted an observation platform to command a bird's-eye view of the power station. He expressed satisfaction over the fact that Hamju County has built one more great structure in the era of the Workers' Party.
The Kumjingang Hungbong Youth Power Station has been built in such an ideal manner that everything in the power station ranging from its designing to its construction has been constructed to meet the need of technical engineering, he said, adding that the power station is a splendid creation to be proud of in all aspects in the new century.
Noting that the country is prospering thanks to the people's fighting spirit of devotedly implementing the party's instructions, the spirit of flattening even a mountain and emptying even a sea at one go, if required by the party to do so, and the might of the single-minded unity more powerful than any weapon, he said, adding that the manifestation of this inexhaustible mental power clearly shows the people's faith and will and militant determination to build without fail a great prosperous powerful nation by their own efforts.
Going round a sideline livestock farm constructed by young builders by themselves, he praised them for having managed their economic life on their own to give the country what little help they can do.
He set forth tasks to be undertaken to keep the electricity production going at a high rate at the power station and complete the construction of the tiered power stations in the area of Chusang ahead of schedule.
Making the round of the new Hamju County Farmers' Rest Home built in the forest on the shore of a lake, he expressed satisfaction over the fact that the county has built a modern rest home where electricity is in ample use so that farmers may fully enjoy a pleasant cultural rest in the place of scenic beauty.
He proposed tasks to be fulfilled to operate the rest home.
He spared time to visit the family of Ju Sang Ho who works there.
Looking round the living rooms and the kitchen kept neat and tidy, he noted with pleasure that it is very good to use electricity produced by the power station not only for heating the floor but for cooking.
He highly appreciated the revolutionary fighting spirit and forward-looking work style of the leading officials of Hamju County, noting that they have brought about a fresh turn in improving the standard of people's living by getting the masses on the move.
He was accompanied by Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Phung Gi, chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial People's Committee, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.C., WPK, and Jang Song Thaek and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the same.
