Gold Prizes Awarded to Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Immortal flowers Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia created a great stir at the 2006 Shenyang World Horticultural Expo in China. The expo held from April 30 to the end of October brought together many horticultural organizations from at least 20 countries and regions including Netherlands, Germany, France and Canada. Thousands of species of beautiful and rare flowers and plants were presented to the expo.
The recent expo was different from those held before in the manner of show. The participating organizations laid up gardens reflecting the characteristic feature of their countries and nations in the designated portions of land and built structures and annexes of diverse styles that match their gardens on the basis of their horticultural technique and standards, while putting on display their typical flowers.
Officials and floricultural experts of the Korean Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee exhibited Kimilsungias and Kimjongilias at the "Rose Garden" which had been specially provided by the sponsor side.
They built the "Korean Garden" in a peculiar and splendid manner to meet the need of architecture of Korean style and the principle of laying out parks with the help of creators and designers of the Mansudae Art Studio and the Paektusan Architectural Institute. As a result, the "Korean Garden" attracted the attention of world horticultural experts from the first day of the expo.
The organizing committee of the expo awarded gold prizes, the top prize of the expo, and diplomas to Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia each.
It also presented the best prize (cup) of the expo, diploma and honorary certificate to the "Korean Garden," gold prizes and diplomas to the festive gate and group sculpture of children of the "Korean Garden," silver prizes to the pavilion and fountain and a bronze prize to the Korean wing of the expo. The DPRK thus received eight prizes something unprecedented in the history of world horticultural expo.

The ceremony elected the vice-chairman of the National Democratic Party of Egypt chairman of the preparatory committee.

GNP's Shameless Behavior Denounced in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in a statement released on Nov. 7 reportedly accused the Grand National Party of south Korea of shamelessly slandering the Pyongyang visit paid by a delegation of the Democratic Workers' Party of south Korea. The statement recalled that the GNP gentry let loose a string of vituperation about the delegation's visit to Mangyongdae during its stay in Pyongyang and found fault even with the looks on the faces of the members of the delegation when they were posing for a photo there.
The reckless behavior of the GNP gentry suggests that what they want is not peace on the Korean Peninsula but confrontation and war, the statement said, calling upon all the Koreans to turn out in the actions to force the GNP to dismantle itself as it is a political party advocating a war and a treacherous political party, and thus achieve peace and reunification.

Concert for Peace Held in Seoul

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- A "Concert for Peace" was reportedly held in Seoul on Nov. 9 under the sponsorship of the "Headquarters of the Movement of Koreans for Becoming One." Put on the stage were colorful pieces on the theme of peace and national reunification prepared by different cultural and art organizations including the literature and art troupe of the Reunification Committee of the "National Teachers Union" and the song troupe "Our Country."
The concert that started on Oct. 26 has been held every Thursday and will run through Nov. 30.

South Koreans Called upon to Shatter Plot of Pro-U.S. Conservatives to Seize "Power"

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- The south Korean people from all walks of life should shatter the plot of the pro-U.S. conservative forces to close their ranks and grab "power" with a great alliance of anti-conservatives and completely eliminate the treacherous forces in order to avert a war and defend peace in this land and glorify the June 15 era. A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland urged this in a statement on Nov. 13. It went on: The "National League of New Right," a new umbrella organization of pro-U.S. conservative forces in south Korea, held a "ceremony to mark its first anniversary" and "a plenary meeting of its members" on Nov. 9. Speakers there cried out for "forming all-people alliance" to seize "power" through the next presidential election. The so-called presidential candidates from the Grand National Party of south Korea in their "congratulatory addresses" openly disclosed their wild ambition to grab "power."
This is part of the premeditated moves to set up a pro-U.S. conservative regime by forming an alliance of pro-U.S. conservative forces.
"All-people alliance" much touted by them is a political collusion to grab "power," going against the trend of the June 15 era, and a sinister treacherous, undemocratic and anti-reunification alliance of pro-U.S. conservative forces to put again the south Korean people under the dark dictatorial rule.
It is as clear as noonday that if the pro-U.S. conservative forces are allowed to come to power under the manipulation of the U.S. they will halt the process of independence and democratization in south Korea, scrap the June 15 joint declaration and bring disasters of a nuclear war to all Koreans.
The GNP and the "National League of New Right" and other pro-U.S. conservatives are working hard to win the favor of people in a bid to gratify their greed for "power" but they can never cover up their true colors as a group of stooges of the U.S., a wicked enemy of peace and reunification, a principal enemy of democratization and a group of quislings. They are fated to meet only shameful destruction.

U.S. Sanctions against DPRK under Fire

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- More than 60 civic and public organizations of south Korea including the Reunification Solidarity and the "National People's Solidarity" called a press conference in front of the building of the "Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade" in Seoul on Nov. 7 and vehemently denounced the U.S. sanctions against the DPRK, according to the south Korean Internet papers "Thongil News" and "Chammalo." Speakers at the press conference referred to the fact that the south Korean and U.S. authorities held a "vice-ministerial strategic dialogue" in Seoul and talked about "sanctions" and "blockade" against the north.
They charged that the U.S. refused to have dialogue with the north even before the ink of the signature to the joint statement of the 4th round of the six-party talks (September 19 joint statement) was dry and has persistently pursued its hostile policy towards the north and recently worsened the situation of the Korean Peninsula with its sanctions against the north.
Then a press release was read out. It noted that the U.S. oppression and sanctions against the north and the drive for implementing the "Proliferation Security Initiative of Weapons of Mass Destruction" are putting a block on the way of resumption of the six-party talks.
The south Korean "government," aligning itself with the U.S. hostile policy towards the north, has driven the south-north relations into catastrophe, the release said, stressing: If the U.S. really wants peace in the Korean Peninsula through dialogue, it should lift all sorts of sanctions against the north at once.

Japan's Frantic Agitation of Militarism Blasted

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, the new Japanese minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology did not bother to call on the educational institutions to hoist Hinomaru and sing Kimigayo, asserting that it is the duty of the teachers to do so. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:
His vociferation glaringly reveals the militarist nature of the Abe regime and is a very disturbing agitation of militarism.
By imposing the hoisting of Hinomaru and the singing of Kimigayo upon schools the Japanese reactionaries seek to imbue the young Japanese with pride in the history of the Japanese imperialists' aggression, longing for militarism and the resolution to exact revenge for their past defeat in a bid to make the Japanese society veer to the Right and rush headlong into militarization. It is their calculation that this would help them realize their wild militarist ambition left unaccomplished for several decades.
The present Japanese chief executive, when interviewed by CNN a few days ago, expressed Japan's intention to revise the constitution during the tenure of his office. And the director general of the Japan Defence Agency cried out that now is the time to rewrite Article 9 of the constitution which stipulates the war renouncement, etc. All these outcries let loose by the Japanese reactionaries were promoted by their calculation that the time has come to achieve their militarist aim unhindered.
If their militarist moves are overlooked, this will not only seriously endanger the peace and stability in Northeast Asia but allow Japan to repeat such tragic history in which the Japanese imperialists ignited a war of aggression against Asian countries scores of years ago, murdering civilians and destroying everything, warns the commentary.

Rodong Sinmun on Imperialists' Ambition for Aggression

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Imperialism is looking for new targets of aggression and plunder to gratify the unlimited greed of monopoly capital as its sphere of domination and influence gains in scope. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes this in a signed article. Citing facts, the article notes that the above-said development is clearly proved by the brigandish acts of the U.S. The U.S. imperialists are working harder than ever before to realize their wild ambition for world domination. To this end they are putting spurs to arms expansion and war preparations, prioritizing the pursuance of the policy of strength as a main lever for realizing the ambition. They are stretching their tentacles of aggression even to outer space. The spearhead of their aggressive and reactionary world strategy is directed to the anti-imperialist and independent countries.
The U.S. imperialists' ambition for aggression finds its vivid manifestation in its policy toward the DPRK.
They are attaching great military and strategic importance to the Korean Peninsula in executing their policy of strength to dominate the world. They are set to use south Korea and Japan as springboards from which to fight a war against the DPRK and other countries and strongholds to maintain their system for dominating the Asia-Pacific region.
What merits a more serious attention is the fact that the U.S. is contemplating the modification of "CONPLAN" called "OPLAN 5029" as a "military operational plan" to cope with a contingency on the Korean Peninsula and blustering that it is ready to carry it out any moment.
It is beyond doubt that the U.S. is poised to ignite a war in Korea and launch a world war with it as a momentum.
The U.S. imperialists are the aggressors who interfere in the internal affairs of Korea and war fanatics keen on provoking a new Korean war to realize its ambition for aggression against the DPRK.

The campaign has been briskly conducted in the field of general education, too. Thousands of educational officials and teachers have been honored with the title of "October 8 Model Teacher" in the country this year.

Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to Hamhung University of Chemical Industry

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Hamhung University of Chemical Industry. He looked round the monument to the on-site instructions given by President Kim Il Sung, the room for the education in the revolutionary history and the room devoted to the history of the university.
The Hamhung University of Chemical Industry, which was established on the personal initiative of the President and under his wise guidance and has covered a glorious path, has turned into a reliable seat for training dependable technical personnel, he said, adding that the undying revolutionary exploits performed by the President will shine long.
He went round the educational science exhibition of the university.
Looking round for a long while the exhibits associated with the unrewarded efforts made by the teachers and students intensely loyal to the Party and revolution, he acquainted himself in detail with the achievements made by them in the development of the education and in scientific researches and expressed great satisfaction over a lot of work done by them.
Then he walked round laboratories and various other places of the university. He set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines in the teaching and education and in scientific researches at the university after learning about how the education is conducted there.
He said that the Hamhung University of Chemical Industry is a university of merits as it has trained many able technical personnel who would shoulder upon themselves the nation's chemical industry for the last six decades, thus making a great contribution to the building of a rich and powerful country.
He highly appreciated the feats performed by the teachers and students of the university for the Party and the revolution, the country and people, noting that the graduates from the university are now playing a pivotal role in the chemical industry and all other domains of the national economy.
He said the professors and doctors and other teachers of the university are the intellectuals to be proud of as they have devoted themselves to carrying out the revolutionary cause in the DPRK with science and technology, bravely pulling through many-fold trials.
In order to train the students into able scientists and technicians required by the IT age it is necessary to embody the Party spirit and the working class spirit in education and firmly establish Juche in it, combine education with practice and steadily improve the teaching methods, he noted.
In order to develop science and technology as required by the new century it is essential to fully equip the people with new technical knowledge, he said, underscoring the need to briskly conduct the work for introducing advanced technology in close touch with scientific research institutions and universities.
Noting that the Party and the people repose deep trust and great expectation for the Hamhung University of Chemical Industry playing a pivotal role in the development of the nation's chemical industry, he expressed belief that the teachers and students of the university would creditably live up to this trust and expectation.
He toured the City of Hamhung that day before providing field guidance to the construction of the city, examining a miniature of the city under construction.
In order to build the industrial city of Hamhung into a modern city meeting the architectural need in the era of the Workers' Party under a long-term plan it is necessary to design it in such a way as to strictly abide by the socialist principle, the principle of popular character, and construct in a peculiar style all objects including roads, the designing of buildings and their styles, the lay-out of recreation grounds and the construction of cultural and sports facilities, he said. He indicated specific direction and ways to do so.
He was accompanied by Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Phung Gi, chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial People's Committee, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.C., WPK, and Jang Song Thaek and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the same.

FDRP exhorta a dar golpe a fuerzas conservadoras proyanquis
