Tokyo, October 3 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Japanese Women's Society for Solidarity with the Korean Women sent a letter of request to the Japanese prime minister on Sept. 22 demanding the lift of sanctions against the DPRK and the negotiated solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula. The letter recalled that the Japanese government applied financial sanctions against the DPRK one year since the joint statement of the fourth six-party talks for the settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula was adopted and four years since the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration was adopted.
Referring to the recent moves of the countries concerned as regards the six-party talks, the letter said that the government's continued pursuance of the one-sided policy of pressure, toeing the U.S. line is not only violating the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration but delaying the solution of the nuclear issue on the peninsula and escalating the tension in Northeast Asia.
Inhumane infringement upon the rights of the Koreans in Japan has persisted as evidenced by the Japanese government's restriction on the reentry of Koreans into Japan and its prohibition of portcall of the ship "Mangyongbong-92" since July, the letter noted.
It strongly demanded the government stop the unreasonable financial sanctions and pressure, a proof of infringement upon the rights of the Koreans in Japan, make efforts to create environment for the resumption of the six-party talks, normalize the Japan-DPRK relations on the basis of the sincere implementation of the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration, seek genuine solutions to the pending problems including the nuclear issue and exert efforts for peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
