Rodong Sinmun Comments on Japan's Launch of Spy Satellite

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed commentary denounces Japan's recent launch of a military spy satellite as part of preparations for reinvasion of the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Asia, a criminal action of seriously threatening peace and stability in the region. The news analyst goes on:
    Japan defiantly launched the military spy satellite despite the apprehension and warnings of the international community. This shows that the Japanese militarists' moves to turn Japan into a military power for reinvasion have reached a grave stage. The launch of the satellite is all the more dangerous as it synchronized with the Japanese reactionaries' interpretation of "the right to collective self-defense" and undisguised moves to amend the constitutional law.
    The Japanese reactionaries have designated the Korean Peninsula as the primary target of their overseas aggression. The Japanese militarists are watching for a chance to reinvade Korea in an attempt to begin with aggression on Korea to embark on the road of conquering Asia as they did in the past. The recent launch was prompted by this.
    The DPRK has already warned that Japan's launch of military spy satellites constitutes a grave threat to Korea. Nevertheless, Japan is continuously launching spy satellites aiming at Korea.

Expansion of U.S. Military Base in Phyongthaek Opposed

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- Organizations of Koreans in the Los Angeles area reportedly held a meeting in front of the south Korean "consulate general" in the city on Sept. 21 in protest against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek, south Korea. Voicing fervent support to the September 24 grand peace march against the expansion of the military base, the protesters declared that the Koreans in the United States would actively take part in the struggle.
    The international solidarity message of the march read out at the meeting urged the U.S. and the south Korean authorities to retract the agreement on the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. forces, promptly renegotiate the plan for the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek, stop the forcible evacuation of dwelling houses and allow the peasants in Phyongthaek to engage in farming.
    The U.S. troops threatening peace of the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia should be withdrawn from south Korea at an early date, the message said.
    At the end of the meeting the participants staged a protest, chanting the slogan "No U.S. military base!"

Slogan of Anti-U.S. Struggle Announced in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly announced the slogan of the anti-U.S. struggle on Sept. 21. The slogan called for driving the U.S. forces, the root cause of aggression and war, out of south Korea and defending peace and existence of the nation with the anti-U.S. and anti-war struggle.
    The U.S. sanctions and pressure upon the north is a prelude to the "second Korean war" and war causes national extermination, the slogan said, demanding the U.S. stop all military exercises increasing the danger of war.
    The slogan called on the workers and peasants to fulfill their duty as the most responsible driving force of society in the struggle for defending peace against the U.S. and war and the youth and students to become the standard-bearers of the struggle for defending peace against the U.S. and war.
    Calling upon the people of different strata to block the U.S. economic aggression and defend vital rights with the struggle for checking the conclusion of south Korea-U.S. "Free Trade Agreement", the slogan urged the U.S. forces to stop their moves for the expansion of the military base in Phyongthaek and completely get out of south Korea.

U.S. Planned Sale of War Equipment to S. Korea Flailed

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The U.S. war maniacs should stop their criminal act of driving a wedge between the north and the south of Korea and inciting a fratricidal war. Minju Joson Tuesday says this in a signed commentary on the U.S. plan to sell 200 million US dollars worth of latest espionage equipment to south Korea.
    The U.S. Department of Defense said that the projected supply of the equipment is intended to support south Korea in reconnaissance and intelligence operations against the DPRK, the commentary notes, and goes on:
    The United States admitted of its own accord that it is the very one that eggs south Korea on to keep standoff with the fellow countrymen.
    The U.S. leaves no stone unturned to use the south Korean army as a shock-brigade in carrying out a war against the DPRK. To this end the U.S. is seeking to sell the espionage equipment to south Korea.
    Pursuing confrontation with fellow countrymen at the U.S. instigation means self-destruction, the commentary points out, stressing: The south Korean authorities should be mindful of this and take the road of national independence and cooperation for reconciliation, unity and independent reunification of the nation, not the road of "cooperation" with the U.S.

"Transfer of Right to Command Wartime Operations" Unmasked

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The reckless racket of the U.S. and the south Korean war-like forces under the cloak of "transfer of the right to command the wartime operations" is a serious military provocation against the DPRK and intolerable mockery of all the Koreans aspiring after peace and stability in this land, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday. Commenting on the mad-cap maneuvers staged by the U.S. and the south Korean warhawks for a war of aggression against the DPRK and arms buildup stepped up by them under the veil of the transfer, the analyst says:
    Shortly ago, the commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea put forth the "three-year plan for joint military exercises" and the United States staged air-to-air missile launching exercises, interceptor missile tests and biological and chemical warfare drills targeted against the DPRK and is working round the clock to bolster means for a preemptive attack in and around south Korea.
    This has brought into bolder relief the ultimate aim sought by the U.S. and the south Korean military authorities in what they call "transfer of the right to command the wartime operations."
    Developments prove that the U.S. seeks to launch a war of aggression against the DPRK in the transfer promoted by it and the south Korean military quarters and this is driving the military situation on the peninsula to the point of explosion, plumbing a new depth of gravity.
    Independence demanded by the south Koreans is for achieving the reunification of the nation and enjoying happiness and prosperity in a land free from outside forces. "Transfer of the right to command the wartime operations" must, therefore, be preceded by the creation of a peaceful climate on the Korean Peninsula and the withdrawal of the U.S. imperialist aggression troops. Without that, the transfer would be meaningless and would only entail a new war on the Korean Peninsula in the long run.

DPRK Stand on South-South Cooperation Clarified

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- It is the consistent stand of the DPRK to develop the South-South cooperation, said Choe Su Hon, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs who is leading a DPRK delegation, on Sept. 22 when addressing a meeting of foreign ministers of G-77 held during the 61st session of the UN General Assembly. He clarified the viewpoint of the DPRK delegation in connection with the fact that the meeting would formulate the joint stand of G-77 on the main subjects on the economic and social fields presented to the 61st session of the UN General Assembly.
    He said:
    G-77 should boost solidarity and joint actions among its member nations to cope with evermore undisguised unilateralism and high-handed practices in the economic and social fields.
    G-77 should continue to spearhead the efforts of developing countries to boost the South-South cooperation.
    The DPRK hosted successful workshops on irrigation, use of hydraulic power, standardization and measuring for several developing countries in Asia and Africa in Pyongyang this year in close cooperation with the Secretariat of G-77 as it had promised at the Second South Summit.
    The DPRK will as ever fulfill its responsibility and obligation to establish a new international economic order based on justice, equality and impartiality and boost the South-South cooperation based on collective self-reliance and thus make a positive contribution to building a peaceful, prosperous and independent world.

Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair under Way

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The 2nd Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair (from Sept. 25 to 28) goes on with success at the Three-Revolution Exhibition. On Monday, the inauguration day alone, many enterprisers from various countries, economic and trade officials of the DPRK and working people from all walks of life visited there.
    On display there are various commodities including steel products, machine tools, medicines, fiber, chemical, electrical and electronic goods, a variety of daily necessities and foodstuffs.
    The Pyongyang international trade fair which has taken place in spring and autumn each year helps furthering trade relations between local and foreign companies.
    Participating in the current fair are some 80 companies from nearly ten countries and regions including China, Italy, Indonesia, Switzerland, Britain and the DPRK.
    The companies from Dandong, Liaoning, Shenyang, Shanghai and Dalian of China hold a considerable proportion among the foreign participants. They exhibit electric generators, textile and fiber products and various kinds of mass consumption goods.
    The Spirax Sarco Co. Ltd. of Britain participates in the fair with steam equipment and its related products and the Loxley Pacific Co. Ltd. of Thailand with luxury goods for women, catching the eyes of visitors.
    Michael Zund, general manager of the Swiss Zund Systemteck AG., in an interview with KCNA, said that the Pyongyang international trade fair goes beyond imagination and it will make it possible to promote trade transactions in future.

Commemorative Stamp Issued

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- A souvenir sheet has been published in the DPRK in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of Kim Il Sung University. Kim Il Sung University was opened on October 1, Juche 35 (1946) as a university of people and the highest edifice of Juche-oriented education thanks to the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and the high patriotic enthusiasm of the liberated Korean people.
    Under the words ''In Commemoration of 60th Anniversary of Kim Il Sung University'' a photograph showing the statue of the President erected on Ryongnam Hill is printed in the center of the souvenir sheet.
    Figuring in the sheet are photographs showing the monument to the famous poem of Kim Jong Il ''Korea, I will Glorify Thee'' in the morning glow and the original university building in a thick wood.
    The face value of the stamp is 70 won.

U.S. Scheme to Americanize Korea's Geographical Names under Fire

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the North Side Headquarters of the Nationwide Special Committee for Probing the Truth behind the GIs' Crimes in a statement on Tuesday vehemently denounced the U.S. for such thrice-cursed crime as giving American names to some places of south Korea though they have their own Korean names. Ever since its occupation of south Korea the U.S. staged the farce of instructing the U.S. forces intelligence agency to call the areas where there are its military installations by the names of the areas of similar geographical features in the U.S., the statement said, and went on:
    The U.S. has since called its military bases in Kyongsang and Jolla Provinces on the eastern and western tips of Korea "Florida" and "Hawaii" the same way it does Florida and Hawaii located at the eastern and western ends of the U.S. It has also called a military base in Pusan "Camp Hialeah" like Hialeah in Florida.
    It is deplorable that some areas of south Korea which host U.S. military bases are still called "Camp Casey" and "Camp Walker" and so on, the names of devilish homicidal generals of the U.S. forces who earned ill-fame in the last Korean war.
    This is a brazen-faced act aimed at infusing the idea of U.S. worship and U.S. phobia into the south Koreans in a bid to benumb their consciousness of national independence and permanently Americanize south Korea.
    The Koreans will never remain an on-looker to the Yankees' criminal act of usurping the names of their native places bequeathed to them by their ancestors generation after generation as they have defended the sovereignty and dignity of the nation as their life and soul.
    The U.S. imperialist aggressors should not forget that south Korea can never become part of the United States no matter how hard they work to give American names to its areas and it is nothing but a pipe dream to expect so.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the 19th anniversary of the publication of Kim Jong Il's historic work that fell on Sept. 25, which calls for dynamically advancing along the road of socialism under the uplifted banner of the struggle against imperialism. Kim Jong Il in the work underscored the need for revolutionaries to correctly judge the prevailing situation of the revolution, firmly maintain the revolutionary stand and invariably advance along the road of socialism. Clarified in the work are immortal ideological and theoretical guidelines to be consistently held fast to by the people in the DPRK and the revolutionary peoples in the world, including the issue of intensifying the struggle against imperialism with a correct understanding of the true nature and fate of modern imperialism and the issue of bolstering the driving force of the revolution as required by the developing reality.

Declaration on Situation Made Public in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- At least 20 figures of political, judicial, academic, religious, art and other circles and pro-reunification and civic organizations called a press conference in Seoul on Sept. 20 on the occasion of the first anniversary of the joint statement adopted at the fourth six-party talks (September 19, 2005), according to a press report. A declaration on the situation signed by 140 figures of different social standings in protest against the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK was read out at the press conference.
    It noted that the adoption of the September 19 joint statement served as a starting point in the struggle to put an end to the history of division of the Korean nation.
    However, the U.S. has imposed sanctions on the DPRK and pressurized it to unilaterally abandon its nuclear program first and, furthermore, has worked hard to realize a " regime change and "bring down the system" in the north, it said, and went on:
    In order to tide over the present crisis on the Korean Peninsula and resume the six-party talks it is essential for the U.S. to make a policy switchover as it is fully accountable for the present situation.
    The U.S. should remain true to the basic spirit of the six-party talks, which reaffirmed mutual respect and peaceful co-existence among sovereign states, and lift the financial sanctions against the north and take a responsible stance for replacing the unstable relations between the north and the U.S. by stable ones for peace on the Korean Peninsula, the declaration urged.

Kim Jong Il's Work Published in Booklet

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il's famous work "The Workers' Party of Korea Is a Juche-Type Revolutionary Party Which Inherited the Glorious Tradition of the DIU" was brought out in booklet by the Angkor Publishing House of Cambodia. This work published on Oct. 17, Juche 71 (1982) comprehensively deals with the revolutionary character and the appearance of the WPK which took its roots in the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) and clarifies the principled issues arising in defending and carrying forward President Kim Il Sung's idea of party building and his exploits performed in it.
    The booklet in its preface says that the Angkor Publishing House of Cambodia has the great honor of bringing out the work of Marshal Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the formation of the DIU by Generalissimo Kim Il Sung, the eternal President.
    A book releasing ceremony was held on the spot on Sept. 21.

Exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il Praised

    Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- Anders Kristensen, chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association, spoke over Danish "People's Radio" for two hours on Sept. 9 on the occasion of the 58th founding anniversary of the DPRK. He highly praised the undying exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il. He referred in detail to the fact that Kim Il Sung victoriously led the anti-Japanese armed struggle to liberate Korea, founded the DPRK on Sept. 9, 1948 and defeated the U.S. imperialists, who had boasted of being "the strongest" in the world, in the Korean war ignited by the U.S. and honorably defended the country's sovereignty.
    Kim Il Sung put forward many fair and reasonable proposals for Korea's reunification including the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo and dynamically led the struggle for implementing them, he said, and went on:
    The Korean people's cause of national reunification has entered a fresh phase since Kim Jong Il provided the North-South Joint Declaration in June 2000.
    The chairman sincerely wished the Korean people great success in their efforts for socialist construction, the country's prosperity and reunification under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.

    Pyongyang, 26 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Los temerarios alborotos que arman Estados Unidos y las fuerzas belicosas del Sur de Corea bajo el rotulo de la "transferencia del derecho de operaciones para el tiempo de guerra" devienen una grave provocacion militar contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea e intolerable burla a todos los coreanos que desean la paz y la estabilidad del territorio patrio. Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual del dia 26 al denunciar los ejercicios de guerra de agresion al Norte y el aumento armamentista a que dan acicate ellos bajo tal rotulo y continua:
    Hace poco, el comandante de las tropas norteamericanas ocupantes del Sur de Corea salio con el "proyecto trienal de ejercicios militares conjuntos". Y EE.UU. realizo ejercicios de lanzamiento de misil aire-aire, la prueba antibalistica y los de guerra bioquimica contra la RPDC y refuerza los medios de ataque preventivo en el Sur de Corea y su contorno.
    Con todo eso se puso al desnudo la finalidad definitiva de la "transferencia del derecho de operaciones para el tiempo de guerra".
    Tal juego de transferencia entrana la intencion de EE.UU. de desencadenar la guerra de agresion al Norte en la Peninsula Coreana, por lo cual la situacion militar de esta region llega a la fase de explosion.
    La independencia que demandan los surcoreanos es para lograr la reunificacion nacional y disfrutar de felicidad y prosperidad en el territorio libre de las fuerzas foraneas.
    Por lo tanto, la "transferencia del derecho de operaciones para el tiempo de guerra" debe tener por premisa la preparacion del ambiente pacifico de la Peninsula Coreana y la retirada de las tropas agresoras norteamericanas. El juego de transferencia sin esta premisa sera insignificante y finalmente traera una nueva guerra a la Peninsula Coreana.

Rodong Sinmun comenta lanzamiento de satelite militar de Japon

    Pyongyang, 26 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El recien lanzamiento de satelite de reconocimiento militar de Japon, siendo un eslabon de la preparacion de nueva agresion a la Peninsula Coreana y el resto de Asia, amenaza gravemente la paz y la estabilidad de esta region. 　Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual del dia 26 y prosigue:
    　El lanzamiento de satelite de tal indole que Japon ejecuto pese a la preocupacion y advertencia de la sociedad internacional es una clara prueba de que han llegado a la etapa grave las maniobras de las fuerzas militaristas de Japon para convertir a su pais en una potencia militar y provocar una nueva agresion.
    　El presente caso implica peligrosidad porque coincide con los abiertos movimientos de la interpretacion del "derecho a la autodefensa colectiva" y la enmienda constitucional de los reaccionarios japoneses.
    　Estos tienen fijada a la Peninsula Coreana como primer blanco de su agresion a ultramar. Y acechan la oportunidad para agredir a Corea como en el pasado y emprender luego el camino de conquista a Asia. Para este fin, hicieron lanzar esta vez el satelite de reconocimiento militar.
    　La RPDC ya advirtio que este lanzamiento deviene una grave amenaza contra si misma. No obstante, Japon no cesa de lanzarlo contra la RPDC.
    　Por lo tanto, la RPDC tomara contramedidas autodefensivas necesarias para hacer frente a las maniobras de nueva agresion cada dia mas crecientes de las fuerzas militaristas japonesas.

Minju Joson denuncia a maniacos de guerra de EE.UU.

    Pyongyang, 26 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El periodico Minju Joson inserto en su numero del dia 26 un comentario individual en relacion con que Estados Unidos intenta vender al Sur de Corea los equipos belicos de espionaje sofisticados por valor de 200 millones de US$. Los belicistas norteamericanos deben poner fin a su acto criminal de meter cuna e instigar la confrontacion entre el Norte y el Sur de Corea, senala el comentario y prosigue:
    El Departamento de Defensa norteamericano confeso que EE.UU. se propone ofrecer los equipos arriba mencionados al Sur de Corea "para apoyar la operacion de exploracion e inteligencia" del Sur de Corea sobre la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea. Esto demuestra que es precisamente EE.UU. el fautor que instiga al Sur de Corea a la confrontacion fratricida.
    EE.UU. recurre a todos los medios y metodos para utilizar al ejercito surcoreano como brigada de choque del cumplimiento de la guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea. Para este fin, intenta transferir al Sur de Corea los equipos tecnicos de espionaje sofisticados.
    Perseguir la confrontacion fratricida bajo la instigacion de EE.UU. es el camino de autodestruccion.     Pyongyang, 26 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Lo subrayo el vicecanciller Choe Su Hon quien preside la delegacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, haciendo uso de la palabra en la reunion de cancilleres del Grupo de los 77 efectuada durante el 61o periodo de sesiones de la Asamblea General de la ONU. 　En relacion con que la citada reunion llega a formular una posicion comun del Grupo de los 77 sobre los puntos principales de la agenda referentes a esferas economicas y sociales sometidos en el 61o periodo de sesiones, Choe expreso el criterio de la delegacion coreana como sigue:
    　 El Grupo de los 77 debe fortalecer la solidaridad y la accion comun entre los paises miembros para hacer frente al unilateralismo y coaccion que se tornan cada dia mas abiertos en esfera socio-economica.
    　Tambien debe seguir dirigiendo los esfuerzos de los paises en vias de desarrollo por ampliar y fortalecer la cooperacion Sur-Sur.
    　Bajo la estrecha colaboracion con el Secretariado del Grupo de los 77, la RPDC efectuo con exito este ano en Pyongyang cursillos de formacion del personal de sectores de irrigacion, energia hidraulica, standard y medicion para varios paises asiaticos y africanos en vias de desarrollo de acuerdo con lo prometido en la segunda Cumbre Sur-Sur.
