S. Korea's Launch of Spy Satellite under Fire

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- South Korea launched a satellite aimed at spying on the north at a time when the situation is getting extremely tense on the Korean Peninsula due to the U.S. reckless sanctions and moves for a nuclear war against the north. This is a grave provocative act of straining the regional situation. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said this in an answer given to a question put by KCNA on Tuesday.
The satellite Arirang-2 launched by south Korea on July 28 is equipped with high resolution image cameras capable of discerning anything up to one meter size on the ground. The satellite with resolution less than one meter is subject to international control as it can be used for a military purpose, the spokesman noted, and continued:
The United States is conniving at and defending the launches of missiles and spy satellites by its allies and forces toeing its line, while unreasonably taking issue with the right thing done by the DPRK, posing no problem in the light of international law.
U.S. standards are not based on justice or international law but on a brigandish view on value aimed at meeting its aggressive purpose and holding world supremacy.
South Korea's recent launch of the satellite brought to light the aggressive nature, dual character and shamelessness of the U.S. racket against the DPRK.
The world should clearly see through the U.S. true colors and should not be mocked by it, we think.
We sound an alarm-bell to south Korea straining the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
The prevailing situation compels the north to step up its moves to bolster the invincible war deterrent for self-defence in every way under the banner of Songun.

Partial Refereeing at 15th Asian Women's Football Championships under Fire

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The world public strongly accused the Italian referee and an Australian lineswoman of their partial refereeing at the semi-final match between the DPRK and Chinese teams held on July 27 during the 15th Asian Women's Football Championships. The match left the most undesirable blot in the history of the Asian women's football matches due to the deliberate and undisguised partial refereeing.
The Pyongyang-based Sports Paper Tuesday in a commentary terms that partial refereeing an unjust act of obstructing the development of Asian women's football and a wanton violation of the noble sports spirit.
Objectivity, impartiality and accuracy constitute a principle to be observed by all referees, the commentary notes, and goes on:
If any international referee is allowed to do anything in violation of this principle, this will cause very adverse consequences of impeding the progress of sports technique.
What the Italian referee and the Australian lineswoman did eloquently proves their sinister intention to make the DPRK team fail at any cost.
What should not be overlooked is the behavior of the Referees Committee of the championships.
The Australian lineswoman, talking to the committee, confessed that her declaration of offside was wrong. The committee, however, blamed the behaviors of Korean players.
Had the referee and the lineswoman correctly refereed, the results of the match would have been different and the Korean players would not have lodged such protest.
The Referees Committee should impartially look into what happened during the match and find a right solution.
The Asian Football Confederation should severely punish the Italian referee and the Australian lineswoman for their base and shameless refereeing of the match and forbid them from refereeing international games any more.
Only then can the Asian Football Confederation preserve its status and win confidence from its member nations.

The Korean people are now dynamically advancing for the final victory of their cause under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, meeting all challenges of the imperialists.
The world progressive people have extended invariable support and solidarity to the just cause of the Korean people.
The Korean people, guided by Kim Jong Il, are sure to win steady victory.

The participants laid floral baskets and bouquets before the statue of President Kim Il Sung at the Songdowon International Children's Camp and made a bow.
A congratulatory address, a report and speeches were made at the ceremony.

Stop to Crackdown upon Movement of Youth and Students Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Jang Song Hoe, chairman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), reportedly issued a statement on July 28 calling upon the security authorities to immediately withdraw the "National Security Law" blocking the democratization of the society and the movement for reunification and stop the anachronistic crackdown upon the movement of youth and students. The statement accused the security authorities of dispatching agents tasked to watch the movement of university students affiliated to Hanchongryon and deciding to restart the investigation into the south Korean Council of Youth Organizations (Hanchong) labeled "enemy-benefiting organization" which had been temporarily suspended.
No matter how desperately the security authorities and anti-reunification forces invoke the NSL, they can never hold in check the advance of the progressive and pro-reform forces nor can they break their will to carry on their struggle, the statement noted.

U.S. Moves for New War under Fire

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists are contemplating Ulji Focus Lens joint military exercises in the wake of their RIMPAC-2006 madcap joint military exercises staged in the Pacific under the simulated conditions of military attacks on the DPRK. This indicates that their scenario to ignite a war of aggression on the Korean Peninsula at any cost has entered a very reckless and serious phase. Papers Tuesday observe this in signed commentaries. Rodong Sinmun says that it is the invariable strategy of the U.S. to launch a preemptive attack on the DPRK and dominate the whole of Korea.
    It goes on:
The Ulji Focus Lens projected by the U.S. warlike forces in south Korea at a time when they are amassing task forces in south Korea and its vicinity, vociferating about "preemptive attack," clearly prove they have become evermore undisguised in their moves to start a new war.
The Ulji Focus Lens is an extremely dangerous war game of the U.S. imperialists aimed at rounding off the command and operation system of their aggressor armed forces for launching the second Korean war and achieving the goal of war without difficulty. Just as frequent clouds bring rain, the U.S. imperialists' escalating dangerous military actions in south Korea clearly suggest that the second Korean war stares one in the face every moment.
Minju Joson says that the Ulji Focus Lens is an extremely dangerous one for igniting a war against the DPRK as the projected saber rattling is little short of a de facto declaration of a war against it.
