National Meeting Marks Promulgation of Law on Sex Equality

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture Saturday to mark the 60th anniversary of the promulgation of the Law on Sex Equality. Present there were Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, leading officials of the working organizations, women anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, women officials, women labor innovators, members of the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Pyongyang and overseas Korean women staying in the socialist homeland.
Women of foreign embassies and missions of international organizations here and the members of the delegation of the Swiss National Women's Council were present there on invitation.
Pak Sun Hui, chairperson of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union (KDWU), said in a report that the KDWU was the first social organization President Kim Il Sung formed after founding the WPK. He personally worked out the law and promulgated it on July 30, Juche 35 (1946), she added.
The promulgation of the law by Kim Il Sung marked a great event to be specially recorded in the history of the women's movement of humankind as it put an end to the Korean women's status of dependence that lasted for thousands of years and brought about a radical change in their position and life, she said, and continued:
The law is the most revolutionary and Juche-based programme for women's emancipation as it comprehensively indicated the ways for the successful solution of the women's problem and a great code of love for the women the kind of which can hardly be found in any other parts of the world as the noble will for respect for women is fully reflected in its every clause.
The President let the women who became full-fledged players of the society thanks to the law take an active part in the first democratic election and such mass movements as the campaign against illiteracy and the general ideological mobilization movement for building the country. And during the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War he wisely led them to display a high degree of patriotic devotion on the front and in the rear and contribute to the victory in the war. This helped them demonstrate to the whole world their resourcefulness and stamina as powerful independent human beings under the leadership of the Party and the leader.
The noble exploits performed by Kim Il Sung in solving the women's problem have been carried forward at a higher stage under the outstanding and tested leadership of Kim Jong Il and the Korean women's movement with a long history and shining tradition has achieved biggest success in its development in the Songun era when a great prosperous powerful nation is dawning.
The reporter appealed to the Korean women to fully display their wisdom and heroic spirit in the on-going general march of Songun revolution to bring prosperity to the country with the great honor of living and making revolution in the era of Songun, a new era of Juche, holding Kim Jong Il, an illustrious commander of Mt.Paektu, in high esteem.
All the women should hold the President in high esteem as an eternal leader of the Workers' Party and people of Korea and the sun of Juche and resolutely defend and glorify the undying feats performed by him for the cause of the women's emancipation, she noted, and continued:
They should learn from the example set by Kim Jong Suk, woman general of Mt. Paektu, in devotedly defending the leader and thus become steadfast women revolutionaries who devotedly follow Kim Jong Il in thinking and faith.
They should carry forward the brilliant tradition of unity which was established in the early period of the Korean revolution and has been consolidated since then, and consolidate as firm as a rock the single-minded unity of our revolutionary ranks.
All the Korean women will wage a more vigorous struggle to achieve national reunification in the spirit of "By our nation itself" under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration and boost the friendship and solidarity with the world progressive women, holding high the banner of independence against imperialism, the banner of socialism, and work hard to build a new world, independent, peaceful and friendly, she concluded.

Meeting for Peace and Disarmament Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in south Korea reportedly held the 59th meeting for peace and disarmament in Seoul on July 25 and demanded the "government" reduce military spending. At the meeting speakers said that the "government" is planning to spend an astronomical amount of money for relocation of U.S. military bases, purification of the environment pollution of U.S. military bases to be returned and so on.
They sternly castigated the "Ministry of National Defence" for having included even the expense of introducing F-15K fighter planes in the next year's military expenditure though the cause of the crash of a plane of the same type has not yet been probed.
A questionnaire addressed to the Planning and Budget Agency read out at the meeting referred to the fact that some days ago the ministry drew up "draft budget for next year's military expenditure" 9.9 percent higher than this year and submitted it to the agency.
The questionnaire noted that the military authorities' "reform of national defence" is focused on strengthening their armed forces to invade the north corresponding to the expansion of the role of the U.S. forces in south Korea, calling for astronomical military expenditure.
It demanded the ministry and the agency cut down the expense for the upkeep of the U.S. forces and increase the budget for public welfare.

Support to Korean People Expressed in Bangladesh

Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- The progressive peoples of the world including Bangladesh will invariably support the struggle of the Korean people to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by formula of federation on the basis of the three principles of national reunification set forth by President Kim Il Sung. Garib Newaz, president of the Bangladesh People's League, said this in a statement on July 27 on the occasion of the June 25-July 27 month of anti-U.S. joint struggle.
The Korean people defeated the U.S. imperialist aggressors and their allied forces in the three-year war and shattered to smithereens the myth of the "mightiness" of the U.S., which showed the world people that the country and the nation led by a great leader can honorably defend its independence and sovereignty, he noted, adding:
The U.S. imperialists are now leaving no stone unturned to ignite another war of aggression in the Korean Peninsula with their ambition for world domination, oblivious of their shameful defeat.
But their attempts have been foiled by the DPRK's military power bolstered in every way under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il and its resolute self-defensive measures.

U.S.-led RIMPAC-2006 under Fire

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- The Swiss Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea made public a statement on July 20 on the occasion of the June 25-July 27 month of anti-U.S. joint struggle. The statement termed RIMPAC-2006 joint military maneuvers large-scale saber-rattling intended to provoke the second Korean war.
The participation of south Korean troops in the war exercises for aggression is a violation of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, the statement noted, demanding the south Korean authorities enforce an independent policy in the spirit of reconciliation.
Denouncing the U.S. for its attempt to disarm the DPRK, the statement expressed full support and solidarity with the stance of the DPRK that it would employ every possible means and method to bolster its war deterrent for self-defence.
The Korean people will frustrate the U.S. war threat by the Songun policy enforced by Kim Jong Il and emerge victorious in the future, too, as they did in the past, it stressed.

Korean People's Day of Victory in War Celebrated in Different Countries

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- A Lecture, a film show and a photo exhibition were held in India and Libya on July 23 on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. Displayed in the venues of the functions were photos showing the undying feats performed by President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il, photos introducing the efforts of the army and people of the DPRK to build a great prosperous powerful nation and reunify the country and photos disclosing how the U.S. imperialists ignited the Korean war.
The chairman of the Indian Youth Group for the Study of Works of Comrade Kim Il Sung in a lecture titled "Day of Victory of Korean People" said that the United States hurled huge forces armed with modern military hardware into the Korean war in a bid to stifle the DPRK in its cradle but the Korean people won a brilliant victory under the wise guidance of Kim Il Sung.
The People's Army and people of the DPRK will single-mindedly unite around Kim Jong Il and always win victory in the confrontation with the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces, he added.
Speakers at the film show and photo exhibition held at the Sunbula International Friendship Club of Libya said that the Korean people have firmly defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the nation under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il. And they expressed full support and solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle for the reunification of the country.

S. Korean "Government" Accused of Toeing U.S. Line

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils and the south Korean Council of Youth Organizations reportedly called a news conference in front of the "government" building in Seoul on July 24 at which they condemned it for toeing the U.S. hostile policy towards the north. A press release read out at the conference accused the "government" of taking the lead in pressurizing the north, pursuant to the U.S. hostile policy towards it despite the fact that the situation on the Korean Peninsula is getting tenser as days go by and the existence of whole nation is threatened due to the U.S. financial sanctions and large-scale war exercises targeted against it.
With nothing can the "government" justify its zealous cooperation with the U.S. in its moves to stifle the north betraying all the fellow countrymen desirous of independence and peace, the press release said, adding that this would be always recorded as a disgraceful act in the history of the movement for reunification.
It urged the "government" to come out to improve the south-north ties in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration.

U.S.-Japan Criminal Conspiracy for Aggression Assailed

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang-based papers Saturday say that the 101 year-old "Katsura-Taft Agreement" proves how deeply Japan-U.S. conspiracy for aggression of Korea is rooted and how shameless and dangerous it is. Rodong Sinmun in a commentary says that the "agreement" was a product of dirty conspiracy as the U.S. imperialists' brigandish and crafty nature was coupled with the bad habit of invading other countries and cunning nature peculiar to Japanese militarists backed by big countries.
    It goes on:
The anti-DPRK conspiracy between the U.S. and Japan reminds one of their conspiracy and nexus more than 100 years ago when they faked up the "agreement". At that time they colluded with each other while having a political bargaining for colonial domination. Their present anti-DPRK nexus is prompted by their common purpose to realize their ambition to invade Korea through preemptive nuclear strikes.
This has created such a serious situation on the Korean Peninsula that it is hard to predict when a nuclear war may break out there. It is a pipe dream for the U.S. and the Japanese reactionaries to seek to invade Korea by force of arms and put it under their domination as they did in the past.
They should properly understand the strength and will of the Korean people and drop a foolish attempt to realize their ambition to dominate Korea through criminal conspiracy and nexus.
Minju Joson in an article says that the "Katsura-Taft Agreement" was the most shameless and brigandish one in the imperialists' history of aggression, stating that the Korean people will certainly force the U.S. imperialists and the Japanese reactionaries to pay a dear price for their crime-woven past.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Struggling to Protect Peace from War

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- It is the most urgent task common to all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to foil the U.S. imperialists and the Japanese reactionaries' reckless moves for aggression and war and wage a struggle to defend peace and security of the country, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed article. The struggle to defend peace against war is a vital task directly related to the destiny of the whole Korean nation, the article says, calling on all the Koreans to turn out in this struggle for the sake of the dignity and destiny of the nation now that war is being turned into reality on the Korean Peninsula.
    It goes on:
It is important for all the Koreans to have firm confidence and optimism about victory in the struggle to defend peace against war.
The U.S. imperialists are openly perpetrating military invasion and terrorism against those countries and nations that incur their displeasure. But they dare not fire guns at the DPRK which they have designated as "an axis of evil" and a "target of preemptive nuclear attack." It is because we have powerful deterrent for self-defence, the invincible arms enough to wipe out any aggression forces at one stroke. All the Koreans are proud of this and supporting and upholding in one patriotic mind the great Songun politics that credibly guarantees peace and security of the peninsula and the interests of the nation with arms.
All the Koreans should unite as one in order to achieve victory in the struggle to defend peace against war.
All the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should vehemently denounce the aggression and war moves of the U.S. imperialists and their allies with burning hatred for the U.S. and brave them in unity.
The Korean nation is the master of its destiny. It should thoroughly reject flunkeyism and dependence on aggressive outsider. It should sternly punish those traitors and flunkeyists who bring aggression and war to this land by following or joining in the moves of the U.S. imperialists and the Japanese reactionaries for aggression on Korea.

S. Korean Pro-U.S. Sycophants' Act of Treachery under Fire

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities recently decided to take over 15 U.S. military bases with their environment remaining polluted and cover all the costs for their depollution. This is another act of treachery little short of selling off the interests of the nation, yielding to the brigandish demand of the U.S. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said this in a statement Saturday.
    The statement continued:
The south Korean authorities set a precedent of taking over the devastated land that has been used as U.S. military bases, thus forcing south Korea to bear even the cost for the depollution of scores of U.S. military bases to be handed over in the future.
This compelled the south Koreans to suffer the national disgrace of even covering the huge cost for the rehabilitation of polluted environment, far from receiving due compensation from the criminals who devastated their land, lording it over for more than 60 years.
What should not be overlooked is the foolish behavior of south Korea. It unreasonably took issue with the north that has defended south Korea with Songun and suspended even humanitarian aid, yielding to the pressure of its American master. Moreover, it decided to spend a colossal amount of money collected as taxes from people for depollution, not uttering even a word of protest against the U.S. that has reduced half of its territory into a wasteland.
It is a shame on the nation that the south Koreans are still undergoing tragic sufferings under the U.S. military occupation and colonial domination even in the new century, the statement said, calling on the south Koreans from all walks of life to turn out in a vigorous struggle to frustrate the sycophantic authorities' treacherous moves, have all the U.S. military bases in south Korea dismantled and drive the U.S. forces out of south Korea.

Appropriate Measures against Partial Refereeing at Football Championships Demanded

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Su, secretary general of the Football Association of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Saturday sent a protest note to Poul Mony Samuel, first deputy secretary general of the Asian Football Confederation and the Organizing Committee of the 15th Asian Women's Football Championships in connection with the partial refereeing of the match between the DPRK and Chinese teams. The note recalled that there was a match between a DPRK team and a Chinese eleven, a semi-final of the championships, in Adelaide, Australia, on July 27 at which the former was declared to be beaten by the rival 0:1 due to the deliberate and undisguised partial refereeing. The recent match left the most undesirable blot ever known in the history of the Asian women's football matches,it said, adding:
The match aroused such great disappointment and concern among sportspersons and people of Asia and the rest of the world entirely because the Italian referee and an Australian lineswoman committed deliberate and shameless partial refereeing.
According to the note, Chinese players twice made hand-touches in the penalty area during the match but the referee deliberately refrained from declaring an 11-meter penalty kick though these fouls were made in the areas quite discernable.
This was an intentional deed to downplay the points gained by the DPRK team as much as possible, a clumsy behavior to rattle the nerves of its team.
    The note continued:
The Australian lineswoman was so unreasonable and shameless as to partially referee the match with bitter feelings towards the DPRK team. This was clearly proved by the fact that when the team scored a goal two minutes before the end of the match, she unfairly insisted that it was offside though it was a goal, thus declaring the clear goal null and void.
All facts prove that the Italian referee and the Australian lineswoman, prompted by a vicious aim to make the Korean team fail at any cost, resorted to premeditated and deliberate partial refereeing, spoiling the noble sports spirit and obstructing the development of Asian women's football.
The note said that it was, indeed, regrettable that DPRK footballers were compelled to lodge a protest with the referee and the lineswoman out of the intolerable anger at the unfair and wanton refereeing and shameless declaration by them in the whole course of the match but what really matters is what lashed them into such fury.
Had the referee and the lineswoman not committed such unreasonable and dastardly acts that made the sportspersons of the world blush, such thing would not have happened, it said.
Lodging a strong protest as regards the above-said happenings, Kim Jong Su on behalf of the DPRK Football Association strongly demanded the following measures:
Firstly, the Asian Football Confederation and the Organizing Committee of the Championships should ensure that matches be refereed impartially and strictly punish the Italian referee and the Australian lineswoman for their unfair refereeing of the recent match.
Secondly, the Referees Committee of the Championships should take a step to let the DPRK team and the Chinese team hold another match so that they may fairly contest for victory now that the committee admitted the Australian lineswoman was wrong to declare the goal scored by the DPRK team two minutes before the end of the match as an offside.
Thirdly, the Organizing Committee of the Championships should withdraw at once the unreasonable measure for disqualifying DPRK footballers for the mere reason that they protested against the undisguised wrong refereeing of the Australian lineswoman.

Periodicos condenan historica confabulacion EE.UU. - Japon
