United States, Germ and Chemical War Criminal

Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- June 25 is the day when the U.S. imperialists started a war of aggression in Korea. Though half a century has passed, the Korean people still vividly remember the criminal biochemical warfare the U.S. imperialists committed against the peaceable inhabitants and cities in gross violation of the international law during the Korean war (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953).
The aggressors launched germ and chemical warfare in the northern half of Korea during the war.
In autumn of 1950, the U.S. Headquarters of Joint Chiefs of Staff worked up a plan to use the germ weapons in battles extensively.
According to the plan, the aggressors applied germ weapons against the peaceful civilians and cities in a wicked way.
In the period from the beginning of January to April, 1952, they dropped various kinds of germ bombs in 169 areas in the northern half of Korea on 804 times and innumerable things and goods contaminated with poisonous insects and bacteria in more than 90 cities and counties on over 900 times.
The U.S. imperialists used more than 20 kinds of germ weapons during the war.
They conducted even experiments on living-bodies with bacteria.
In 1951 they committed over 3,000 experiments on Korean people with germ weapons on warships not far off Wonsan.
Another diabolical crime of the U.S. imperialists was that they used chemical weapons, a mass destruction weapon.
From February 1951 to July 1953, they used many chemical weapons in 24 cities and counties of the northern half of Korea including Kangwon and Hwanghae provinces and on battlefields.
In particular, they released more than 15 million napalm bombs on military positions on the front and peaceful cities and farming and fishing villages in the rear.
The U.S. imperialists perpetrated even bio-chemical warfare unprecedented in the world history of war to achieve their aggressive purpose.

The manager of the publishing house said at a book releasing ceremony held on June 15 that this famous work serves as political pabulum instilling strength and courage into the world progressives.

Stop to Expansion of U.S. Military Base Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- The All-People Measure Committee for Checking the Expansion of the U.S. Military Base in Phyongthaek of south Korea reportedly issued on June 16 a statement titled "The government should totally reexamine the plan for the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek and ensure a peaceful all-people meeting". The statement said: The "government" is going ahead with the expansion of the U.S. military base in accordance with the plan worked out by the U.S. despite the fact that the injustice of the agreement on the transfer of the U.S. military base has been clearly proved since its conclusion and over 80 percent of the people are demanding the renegotiation on it. This cannot be construed otherwise than a crazy action.
The statement demanded the "government" cancel the above-said plan, totally renegotiate it with the U.S. and immediately withdraw military and police forces from the areas of Taechu-ri and Todu-ri.

The chairman of the Czech Group for the Study and Materialization of the Juche Idea stated at the round-table talks that it is entirely thanks to the prominent and tested leadership of Kim Jong Il that DPRK has wrought historical miracles and made a long drive in the teeth of evermore undisguised moves of the U.S. imperialists to isolate and stifle it further.

Direct Talks between DPRK and U.S. Urged

Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- Voices accusing the U.S. administration of its Korea policy and calling for DPRK-U.S. direct talks for a solution to the nuclear issue are growing louder in the U.S. political circles these days. Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Armitage in an interview with the Kyodo News of Japan criticized the Korea policy of Bush, advising the U.S. administration to put forward a package compensation proposal to the DPRK and promote negotiations on the nuclear issue.
David Strube, former section chief for Korean affairs of the U.S. State Department, told a reporter that Bush was unwilling to have dialogue with the DPRK, judging from the abuses he hurled on its leadership. At the six-party talks, he noted, Bush insisted on the strategy of putting pressure on the DPRK while convincing it that it was "isolated" in the international community. But, in actuality, it is the U.S. and Japan that were isolated at the talks.
He ridiculed the U.S. act of ignoring the reasoning of other countries participating in the six-party talks.
U.S. Senator Joseph Biden told a reporter that Bush's Korea policy had come a cropper. The U.S. needs to have direct talks with the DPRK for a solution to the nuclear issue, he said.

Chokhwabi on Display at House of Class Education in Kaesong

Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- Chokhwabi (a stone monument calling for rejection to friendship with invaders of the United States and European powers) was newly exhibited at the House of Class Education in Kaesong City, the DPRK. It was found out in the city. Similar monuments were erected in different parts of Korea in 1871.
It, made with natural granite, is 146 cm high, 43.2 cm wide and 27.5 cm thick.
Inscribed in bold strokes on the front side of the monument are the words "As Western barbarians invade the country, refusal to fight means friendship with them and pleading for friendship means selling off the nation". And carved in small letters beside them are words "These words were created in the year of Pyongin (1866) and monuments erected across the country in the year of Sinmi (1871). We warn this to our posterity".
After the mid-1860s the Korean people had emerged victorious in battles for sinking the pirate ship General Sherman and for repulsing armed invaders of the U.S. and European countries.
On April 25, 1871, Taewongun (1820 - 1898), the then ruler of the feudal state of Ri Dynasty, saw to it that the monuments were erected in Seoul and other towns of the country.
Most of the monuments, however, were destroyed by the Japanese imperialist aggressors and Queen Min and other reactionary ruling quarters who were flunkeyists and capitulationists between 1882 and 1915.
The visitors to the house realize once again that the true nature of the U.S.-led imperialists will never change and harden their will to wipe out the aggressors once and for all.
