U.S. Branded as World's Worst Human Rights Abuser

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- It is not without reason that world people are branding the U.S. as the worst human rights abuser and a barren land of human rights. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article dealing with the human rights abuses by the U.S. styling itself a "protector of human rights". The article goes on:
The U.S. in its every "annual report on human rights" comments on "human rights records" of other countries in a freewheeling way according to its "human rights standards" based on the American view on value and interferes in their internal affairs over their human rights issues. This is an impudent behavior, an indication of its extreme arrogant and brigandish nature.
Citing what is happening in Iraq as a good example revealing the hypocrisy of the U.S. much publicized "protection of human rights," the article stresses that the wanton human rights abuses by the U.S. forces in Iraq clearly show how hypocritical and deceptive the U.S. call for "protecting human rights" is.
It is the height of folly for the U.S. to falsely claim that human rights are guaranteed well in America whereas they are abused in other countries to raise serious problems, the article notes, and continues:
The U.S. with the poorest human rights record in the world is acting as if it were a "human rights judge," talking a lot about the "human rights issues" of other countries. How brazen-faced it is.
Putting up even the signboard of "protecting of human rights" would not help the U.S. realize its ambition for world domination.
Brutal torture perpetrated by the U.S. imperialists more glaringly reveals their true colors as human rights abusers, touching off the unanimous denunciation by the international community. Recently Amnesty International made public a report to be presented to the UN Committee against Tortures in order to indict the U.S. for having set up secrete prisons in different countries and maltreating and torturing a lot of people there. The report accused the U.S. of being a state keen on torture in violation of the UN convention banning torture.
As proven the facts, the U.S. imperialists are the heinous forces of aggression who wantonly abuse international law and human ethics and morality under the pretext of "war on terrorism", destroyer of human civilization and world's worst human rights abuser.
With nothing can the U.S. cover up its crimes and despicable nature.

Koreans in U.S. Declare Struggle for International Solidarity

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification and 13 other organizations of Koreans in the U.S. held a joint press conference in front of the south Korean consulate general in Los Angeles on May 11 to denounce the south Korean "government" for its reckless violation of human rights in Phyongthaek, according to the U.S. Internet homepage Minjok Thongsin. A joint statement read out at the press conference said that the crackdown in Phyongthaek reminding people of the second Kwangju incident clearly proves that the south Korean "government" wants war instead of peace and seeks flunkeyism instead of independence.
The master of Phyongthaek is not the U.S. forces but its residents, the statement said, declaring that the organizations of Koreans in the U.S. would launch the struggle for international solidarity against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek together with the anti-war peace movement camp and conscientious popular masses in the U.S.
Speakers strongly demanded the punishment of those responsible for the indiscriminate crackdown on innocent residents and anti-war peace activists committed to push forward the expansion of the U.S. military base. They also called for the total withdrawal of the expansion plan and the dissolution of the subordinate south Korea-U.S. "alliance."
The participants handed a letter of protest and a written statement addressed to the south Korean "government" over to the consulate general.
Prior to the press conference, the organizations demonstrated, shouting "Peace to Phyongthaek!" and other slogans.

Chinese Delegation Feted

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of the People's Armed Forces gave a reception Monday in honour of the Chinese delegation of martyr Mao Anying's family and relatives, which has come to Korea to visit the grave of Mao Anying who is son of Chairman Mao Zedong, the great leader of the Chinese people, and fell in the Korean war. Present there on invitation were the delegation led by former Deputy Department Director of the Chinese Academy of Military Science Shao Hua, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe and Military Attache Yang Xilian and staff members of the Chinese embassy.
On hand were Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, general officers and officers of the KPA and officials concerned.
KPA General Pak Jae Gyong, addressing the reception, said that martyr Mao Anying, an internationalist solider who laid down his precious youth for the defense of the Korea-China friendship, was not only the true son of the Chinese people but also the beloved son of the Korean people.
The undying feats performed by the martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteers in the war against the armed invasion of the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces have been cherished long in the mind of the army and people of the DPRK along with the history of Korea-China friendship, he stressed.
He noted that the current visit of the delegation will mark an important occasion in educating the rising generation to invariably carry forward Korea-China friendship personally provided by President Kim Il Sung together with Chairman Mao Zedong and other revolutionaries of the old generation of China. He said that leader Kim Jong Il is defending and developing the friendship provided by the revolutionaries of the old generation.
He expressed the belief that the Korea-China friendly and cooperative relations favorably developing day by day under the particular care of the top leaders of the two countries will in the future, too, grow stronger thanks to the joint efforts of the armies and peoples of the two countries.
The head of the delegation in a speech said that their visit to the grave was satisfactory and favorable under the deep concern of Kim Jong Il. She noted she was glad of it.
She said that during their stay in Korea they visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace to pay high tribute to Kim Il Sung who lies in state, and the old home in Mangyongdae where he was born and inspected various places.
Though our visit was short, we could not only remember the martyrs but also deeply feel the true and warm friendship of Korean comrades, she said.
She stressed that they would make all efforts to defend Sino-Korean friendship and peace and ensure joint development of the two countries.
A performance was given by artistes of the KPA Song and Dance Ensemble at the reception.

Withdrawal of Plan for Expansion of U.S. Military Base Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Solidarity for Repeal of Instable Labor reportedly issued a statement on May 10, demanding an immediate withdrawal of the plan for the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek. The base in Phyongthaek is a core advanced base to carry out the U.S. war strategy in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, the statement said, denouncing the present "government" as the force threatening security and peace in this land.
It urged the authorities to totally withdraw the plan for the expansion of the U.S. military base which brings only sacrifice and sufferings to the residents in Phyongthaek and other people.

U.S. "War on Terrorism" Violates Religious Freedom

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The U.S. "war on terrorism" is a hideous war aimed to abuse human rights as it is mercilessly trampling down upon the freedom of religious belief under the signboard of "liberal democracy." "War on terrorism" is based on the extreme hostile policy toward Islam and characterized by ceaseless bloody suppression of religion.
The U.S. has pursued its policy against Islamic countries in the Middle East since the demise of the Cold War, vociferously advocating the "theory of the clash between civilizations." By this theory it means that the Islamic civilization is bound to clash with the fundamentally differing Christian civilization in the West and that it is the only way of terminating this confrontation to remould all the Islamic forces and lead them to the road of Western democracy.
Acting upon this reactionary logic hostile to Islam, Washington pursued a one-sided pro-Israel policy in the international arena. It has egged Israel on to military actions against Islamic countries while patronizing its policy for territorial expansion.
No sooner had the "September 11 incident" taken place than the U.S. described Islam as a belligerent religion, holding Islam fully accountable for the incident and launching a "war on terrorism" in its desperate bid to Americanize the Muslim world.
This frantic "crusade" launched by the U.S. against Islam brought war disasters to the two Islamic countries, Afghanistan and Iraq, in a couple of years and this war of genocide took the lives of so many Muslims.
The U.S. is contemplating expanding the theatre of the war of aggression to such Islamic countries as Iran and Syria, under the pretexts of "development of nuclear weapons" and "support to terrorism".
The inhuman nature of the "war on terrorism" waged by the Bush administration in violation of the freedom of religious belief is clearly evidenced by the facts that it is busy inciting an atmosphere of chauvinism toward Islam worldwide, arresting and, imprisoning and persecuting guiltless Muslims at home and abroad.
U.S. soldiers are brutally torturing and maltreating Muslims in secret prisons in different parts of the world under the pretext of "combating terrorism". In these detention camps reminiscent of the Oswiecim concentration camp operated by German fascists U.S. law enforcement agents committed such blasphemy as throwing a Koran into a chamber pot under the very eyes of prisoners.
The "war on terrorism" has been targeted against Muslims throughout it in the wake of the Afghan and Iraqi wars. The persecution and suppression of Muslims have been openly patronized and encouraged by the administration to reach their height at present. All these facts glaringly reveal the hypocrisy of the U.S. touted "freedom of religion."
The international community had already warned of the possibility of the U.S. "war on terrorism" leading to "clash between the two civilizations" and demanded the U.S. stop such unjust war at once.
The German minister of Interior, speaking at a seminar in October 2004, held that "the war on terrorism" should never be a war between the two religions.
In a letter addressed to the U.S. president some days ago, the Iranian president asserted that the U.S.-style "freedom" and "democracy" are not of any help to realizing the ideal of humankind, demanding Bush admit the religious diversity.
The U.S.-launched brigandish "war on terrorism" is bound to meet its shameful fiasco for its reckless nature and injustice.

New Auximone Developed

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- New auximone has been developed and introduced into the cultivation of Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia. The stimulus was developed by a research group of the Aeguk Composite Microbial Centre in our way. It is a microbial dispersant consisting of a photosynthetic bacterium, activated humic acid and other microelements and ultra-microelements.
The photosynthetic bacterium, its chief ingredient, makes plants imbibe amino acid and other substances, increase efficiency of luminous energy, and promote their growth, flower bud differentiation, blooming and good fruition.
It also ensures freshness of flowers and promotes pigmentary display to increase chlorophyll and pigment content.
When it is applied, flower buds come out seven or ten days earlier than usual and every flower is 1.2 or 1.3 fold bigger than the previous one. And the number of blossoms increases and the flower can be kept fresh.
It gives no ecological and environmental pollution and inflicts no injury upon the human body as compared with auximones of other countries.
The research group introduced the auximone into Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia greenhouses across the country and gardens in Pyongyang for several years and has contributed to cultivating flowers more beautifully.
This nutrition liquid can be made from raw materials rich in any part of Korea and is now gaining public favor among gardening officials and experts for its great effectiveness in cultivating Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia, famous flowers.

Japan's Reckless Military Moves Assailed

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The real intention of Japan talking about "threat" from the DPRK and China is to find a pretext for beefing up its military muscle, deter China from strengthening its national power and present itself as the leader of Asia. Minju Joson today says this in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
Japan schemes to evade the vigilant eyes of the international community focusing on it and create a favorable international environment for pursuing its policy of militarist expansion overseas by branding the DPRK and China as the "irresponsible states" which cause "security crisis" in the region and building up public opinion.
Japan's assertion that peace and stability in Northeast Asia are in danger due to the DPRK and China is the far-fetched one devoid of logical validity and realistic foundation.
The primary factor of the dangerous development of the Northeast Asian situation rests with the U.S. and Japan following it and rushing toward militarist aggression overseas.
Any country is not frightened by Japan's racket about "threat." The world clearly sees through what Japan pursues and which road Japan seeks to take.
The Japanese reactionaries should immediately stop their reckless military moves for militarist expansion overseas, mindful that they cannot get rid of the keen eyes of the international community.

New Maize Planting Method Introduced

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- New farming methods have been created and applied in the countryside of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Among them is the maize close planting method.
The method is to plant in two rows on a furrow middle-ripening tall maize with many leaves the number of which is tantamount with that of the plants on two furrows and to cultivate dwarf crops on the next furrow.
By the method, the leaves of the maize crops grow straightly upwards and grow well with the help of vacant space of the next furrow. And each maize plant of a field is ensured same conditions with that on the edge of the field. As the result, the per-hectare yield of maize is remarkably higher than that of one row cultivation.
Also vacant furrows are available for raising various species of dwarf crops and cultivating autumn vegetables and others as aftercrops. The new method, therefore, can raise the land utility rate by 50 percent.

Temple Pagoda, Showcase of High Standard of Architecture

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The cultural relics belonging to various historical ages are preserved in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as they were. Out of them is the five-storied octagonal pagoda near the Yongmyong Temple on Moran Hill.
The stone pagoda, which was built in the mid 10th century during the Koryo Dynasty, shows high standard architecture of the ancestors.
The pagoda carries forward the technology of Koguryo for building multi-angled towers most of which are octagonal. It consists of the stone pedestal, five-storied octagonal body and eaves.
It is 4.54 meters high and each tier is octagonal plane stone.
It differs from other multi-angled pagodas.
Its pedestal and body stones are not straight but its body is swollen in the middle like pillars of wooden buildings.
It has ornamental sculptures rare to be seen in other pagodas. Engraved in bolder relief are four lotus flowers on the tip surface of each eave-supporter and eave.
The pagoda is kept with care as a national treasure.
