U.S. Urged to Take Hands off Korea

Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- The Swiss Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea in a statement on May 1 demanded the United States take its hands off Korea and Yankees withdraw from south Korea at once. The warmonger Bush group is considering socialist Korea to be a thorn in its flesh, the statement said, noting it is because the U.S. imperialists sustained a bitter defeat in Korea for the first time in history.
The U.S. imperialists have militarily occupied the southern part of the Korean Peninsula for over 60 years, contrary to the will of the Korean people, it said, and went on:
The U.S. forces in south Korea are the very one responsible for the division of the Korean nation and the main obstacle to Korea's reunification.
The U.S. imperialists' moves to ignite a new war of aggression are being foiled by the might of the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il who is giving a definite priority to military affairs.

Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday dedicates a signed article to the 18th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "Let Us All Live and Struggle Like Heroes". The work published on May 15, Juche 77 (1988) clarifies valuable truth that to live and struggle like heroes means leading the most worthwhile and rewarding life as an independent human being and principled issues of making the spirit of heroic struggle prevail throughout the society.
The last nearly 20 years since the publication of the work have witnessed great heroism displayed in the confrontation with the imperialists and the United States and the drive to build a great prosperous powerful nation in the DPRK, world startling heroic feats performed by its army and people and the stirring reality in which everybody lives and struggles like a hero, all of which is ascribable to Kim Jong Il's outstanding idea and his wise leadership, the article notes, and says:
A new great surge will be effected in this land when all the servicepersons and people fully display mass heroism in the on-going general march of Songun revolution.

Nuclear Warmongers' Reckless Moves under Fire

Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- The United States' escalated moves to update nuclear weapons and develop laser weapons are dangerous and reckless war moves to establish military domination over the world, observes Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary. It goes on:
The U.S. bellicose forces, not content with the nukes stockpiled by them, are now stepping up the development and production of new type nukes in real earnest, while busying themselves developing laser weapons for starting a space war. This is aimed at retaining a military monopoly and dominating the world with nuclear and other sophisticated weapons.
The above-said moves and other reckless war scenarios of the U.S imperialists are unpardonable criminal acts as they disturb the world peace and stability, strain the international situation and spark off a new nuclear arms race.
The situation still remains tense on the Korean Peninsula due to these moves for a nuclear war. It is their unchangeable scenario to ignite a nuclear war in Korea.
The U.S. imperialists are staging frequent nuclear war maneuvers after massively deploying nuclear strike means in south Korea and in its vicinity, posing a grave threat to the DPRK. It is not hard to guess which country their new type nuclear and laser weapons target against.
The U.S. bellicose forces' moves to deliberately coil up the military tension on the peninsula and increase the danger of a nuclear war cannot but arouse vigilance among its neighboring countries. It is clear to everyone that in case a nuclear war breaks in Korea what disastrous consequences it will bring.
The U.S. would be well advised to give up its criminal design to update nuclear weapons, militarize the outer space and impose a nuclear disaster upon humankind.

National Pride, Vitalizer for Independent Reunification Movement

Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- The national pride of the Koreans is a vitalizer which instills vigor into the ranks of the movement for the independent reunification of the country and braces up their patriotic zeal, says Rodong Sinmun in an article Monday. It goes on:
The pride of the Korean nation rooted in superior national character which it can boast to the world is higher than that of any other nation. The Koreans can pave the way for independent reunification and heyday of prosperity of the country when all of them struggle with such national pride and patriotic mettle.
The pride of the Korean nation is the source of the spirit of independence in the whole course of the reunification movement and the main factor of powerful impetus to the process of great national unity.
Independence is as precious as life and soul in the reunification movement of the Korean nation for achieving the nation's independence on a nation-wide scale. A strong wall protecting the nation is built and an upswing is brought in the movement for national reunification when a full scope is given to the unswerving spirit of independence for solving all problems from the stand of giving priority to the nation and displaying Korean nation-first spirit.
The spirit of "By our nation itself" represents the immovable truth that real reconciliation and unity is achieved and the cause of independent reunification is accomplished when all the fellow countrymen struggle with the pride and honor of a homogeneous nation. The last-ditch wriggle of the separatist forces and the strong-arm tactics, arbitrary practices and moves for aggression of the "only super power" prove impotent in face of the torrential flow of history in which the 70 million Koreans are advancing, united in single mind, along the way indicated by the spirit of "By our nation itself".
National pride has a great effect on mental and moral traits of the members of the nation in the struggle for the reunification of the country.
Their noble traits in their efforts to shape the destiny of the nation by themselves with confidence and vigor can make even a nuclear weapon impotent. All the fellow countrymen are dynamically waging the worthy patriotic struggle for national reunification to implement the June 15 joint declaration with unshakable fighting spirit and grit, convinced that no force on earth can break the united strength of the Korean nation.

It is run through with the unswerving spirit of guarding the leader with their very lives and the spirit of self-reliance, hard-working, self-sacrifice and revolutionary optimism.
President Kim Il Sung called upon the people to direct every effort to the victory in the war. In response to this call, the workers there manufactured munitions by turning machines manually in water-dripping dead pits.
During the strategic temporary retreat, the President assigned to the workers there an urgent task of assembling submachine guns for an army unit. Eating parched maize as meals, the 20-member death-defying squad of the factory worked hard day and night and tested the efficiency of weapons by lighting the target with torch, thus assembling 750 submachine guns within six days.
