The organ gives a detailed account of the fact that the President received many orders, medals and honorary titles from different countries and international organizations. It also edits an article titled "To the Heroic Korean People" written by the chairwoman of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia, a photo of Kimjongilia and others.

Intensified Anti-U.S., Anti-War Struggle Called for

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- A fierce anti-U.S. struggle and strong actions for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces now being waged by people from all walks of life in south Korea are an expression of their firm will to fight against the U.S. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article. These daily mounting anti-U.S., anti-war actions of south Koreans are prompted by the lesson of history "they can survive only when they are free from the U.S.," the article notes, and goes on: The above-said struggle is a just and patriotic one for protecting the right of the nation to exist and its sovereignty and a sacred patriotic struggle for reunification as it is aimed at preserving and implementing the June 15 joint declaration so as to pave a wide avenue for national unity and independent reunification. The south Korean people have become confident that they can reject the interference of the foreign forces and independently reunify the country under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself", and they strongly demand the U.S. imperialist aggressor troops withdraw from south Korea as early as possible as required by the developing relations between the north and south.
They should hold higher the banner of the struggle against the U.S. and conservatives in order to cut off the tentacles of the U.S. domination and interference in south Korea and completely eliminate the pro-U.S. conservative forces.
The key to the victory in the struggle against the U.S. and war lies in the unity of the people from all walks of life desirous of peace and independent reunification. The south Korean people will intensify the above-said struggle and thus build an independent and reunified new society, their centuries-old desire, without fail.

S. Korean Government's Policy toward U.S. under Fire

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- S. Korean figures of various circles reportedly held a meeting on April 19 in Seoul, at which they made public a "419-man declaration on the situation" demanding an overall reexamination of the agreement on the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. forces in south Korea and a halt to the negotiations for the conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. "FTA." Charging that by agreeing on the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. forces in south Korea the present "government" allowed the U.S. forces to make free inroads into Northeast Asia and the rest of the world via the Korean Peninsula and put spurs to the negotiations for the conclusion of FTA with the U.S., the declaration termed the present "government's" policy toward the U.S. a humiliating policy and a policy dependent on the U.S.
The declaration accused the present "government" of working hard to leave this land to the tender mercy of the U.S. lock, stock and barrel, claiming that the above-said agreement and negotiations are an "inevitable choice for the peace on the Korean Peninsula" and the "increase of competitiveness."
The declaration demanded the "government" make an overall reexamination of the agreement on the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. forces and immediately discontinue the negotiations for the conclusion of the FTA.

S. Korean Authorities Urged to Stop Toeing U.S. Policy of Aggression

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- Kim Kun Hyong, Korean-American serving in the U.S. Marines, met a disgraceful death in the wake of the miserable death of Choe Min Su, a Korean-American dispatched to a U.S. unit in Iraq in February last year. This is a tragedy caused by the U.S. unjustified war of aggression. The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said this in its Information Bulletin No. 918 on April 24. It continued:
It is a shame on the nation and a tragedy for sons of the Korean nation to meet tragic deaths in an alien land after being hurled into it as part of a shock brigade, bullet shields to execute the U.S. policy of aggression.
Moreover, it is painful that young and middle-aged Koreans are forced to fall down in Iraq, shedding blood, under the cursed helmets of the U.S. imperialist aggressor troops at a time when even the U.S. tends to cut down its forces stationed in Iraq in a bid to get out of the bottomless quagmire it is finding itself for starting an unjustifiable war, to say nothing of its allies which dispatched troops to Iraq.
Just a few south Korean civilians and Korean-Americans met miserable deaths in Iraq this time but no one can predict how many south Koreans will meet the same tragic deaths as Kim Son Il, Choe Min Su and Kim Kun Hyong did in the days to come. The south Korean people from all walks of life should clearly see through the gravity and danger of the dispatch of troops to Iraq, resolutely oppose and reject the U.S. policy of aggression and the treacherous acts of toeing the U.S. policy and turn out in a dynamic anti-U.S., anti-war struggle.

U.S. Forces Urged to Fully Cover Cost of Environmental Restoration

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- South Korean civic and public organizations of different circles including the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification and the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification reportedly held a press conference in front of the U.S. military base in Ryongsan, Seoul, on April 20 at which they demanded the U.S. forces fully cover the cost of restoring the polluted environment in the base before its return. Speakers at the press conference denounced the U.S. forces for their arrogant insistence that they are not obliged to restore the polluted environment, holding that it is quite natural for the U.S. forces to own responsibility for the environmental pollution in view of international law and this is considered as a due obligation in the U.S., too. It is quite natural for the U.S. troops to bear the cost of restoring the polluted environment as the serious environmental pollution of the U.S. military base to be returned was caused by them, they noted.
At the end of the press conference the organizations started a sit-in strike, holding a placard reading "U.S. forces responsible for the pollution, cover the cost of restoring the polluted environment in the U.S. military base to be returned".

Independent Reunification Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- The "Society of April Revolution" in south Korea reportedly issued a statement on April 19 calling on the Koreans to unite in order to drive out foreign forces and achieve the independent reunification of the country. Referring to the fact that there is the growing atmosphere of inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation and many achievements have been made since the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration, the statement said that nobody can quell the desire of the Korean nation to achieve independent reunification. Pointing to the evermore intensified moves of the foreign forces to keep the Korean nation divided into two, the statement blasted the United States for its aggressive political and military moves and economic interference.
In order to drive foreign forces out of this land it is necessary to sincerely implement the joint declaration, the statement said.

Despicable Act of Stupid under Fire

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- The south Korea-U.S. "Alliance Friendship Society" named U.S. Ambassador in Seoul Vershbow "Pak Po U", the former U.S. 8th army commander in south Korea "Kim Han Su", the U.S. 7th air force commander "Kim Ung Bi" and Laporte, U.S. forces commander in south Korea, "Ra Po Thae". Minju Joson today observes in a signed commentary as regards such humiliating act of treachery: This is nothing but a despicable act of the stupid who are too keen on serving the U.S. that they go reckless bereft of any reason and an unpardonable traitorous act that touches off the bitter resentment of the Korean nation.
    It goes on:
Vershbow let loose groundless vituperation against someone, meddling in this or that issue, as soon as he was appointed as the U.S. ambassador to south Korea, and thus triggered off the bitter indignation of the Koreans and criticism in the south Korean society.
Those who have been given Korean names by the above-said organization are without exception plot-breeders and warmongers as they have desperately pursued confrontation and war against the unity and reunification of the Korean nation. Nevertheless, the organization did such a ridiculous thing in betrayal of the soul and spirit of the Korean nation. This only betrays the foolish aim of the traitors to prolong their remaining days by clinging to the coattails of the aggressors, utterly indifferent to the misfortune of the fellow countrymen.
What merits a serious attention is that the "Grand National Party" of south Korea, a group of pro-U.S. conservatives, is zealously using the above-said organization for satisfying its greed for power.
The Korean nation can never feel safe as long as there are groups of pro-American traitors such as the "GNP" and "alliance friendship society" that desire the outbreak of a war on the Korean Peninsula.
The Koreans should never pardon the above-mentioned pro-U.S. ultra-right forces and the "GNP" working hard to satisfy their greed for power, while faithfully serving the outside forces in betrayal of the soul and spirit of the nation. The people from all walks of life in south Korea should destroy the citadel of the pro-U.S. sycophantic group by dealing telling blows at the "GNP" in the upcoming "election to the local self-governing bodies."

Glorifying Immortal Exploits of Great Persons of Mt. Paektu Called for

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson Tuesday in an editorial dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the Korean People's Army calls for adding shine to the immortal exploits performed by the great persons of Mt. Paektu in army building, saying that it is the highest pride and honor of the KPA that it has displayed its might as an army of justice and a powerful main force of the revolution under their leadership. It continues:
The KPA is a strong revolutionary army born in Mt. Paektu and has grown matchless under the leadership of its founder and commander and the history of the Korean revolution is the great Songun history that remains glorious along with that of the army. It is the unshakable faith and will of leader Kim Jong Il to direct primary efforts to bolstering up the People's Army, regarding President Kim Il Sung's idea and line of giving importance to the army and military affairs as a basis and a starting point and to successfully settle all issues arising in defending the country and carrying out socialist construction, depending on its political and military might. The Songun revolutionary cause in the DPRK is now dynamically advancing under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
The KPA is fully demonstrating its might as the main force of the revolution as it has carried forward the traditions of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and its servicepersons have become comrades most loyal to Kim Jong Il. It is necessary to eternally glorify the undying feats Kim Il Sung performed by accomplishing the historic cause of the liberation of Korea with arms of the revolution and defending the country and the revolution and building an invincible socialist power on the principle of giving priority to military affairs and settle all issues arising in army building and other activities the way he did no matter how much water may flow under the bridge and no matter how many times a generation is replaced by a new one. All the servicepersons of the People's Army should deeply cherish the honor and pride of being blessed with the supreme commander, which no other army has ever enjoyed in history, and win one victory after another, holding high the flag of the supreme commander, the editorial concludes.

Songun Revolutionary Mode Created by President Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- A new Songun revolutionary mode was created by President Kim Il Sung whom the Korean nation attended for the first time in its thousands of years of history. The mode varies from the existing formula by which the party was founded before organizing the army and making the revolution. The internal and international situation was very complex in those years when the President embarked upon the road of revolution.
The might of the USSR was strengthened and the revolutionary struggle of the oppressed people was further mounted with each passing day while the economic panic which started in the United States from 1929 swept the world. The imperialists made desperate efforts in attempt to get rid of the serious politico-economic crisis. In particular, the Japanese imperialists further intensified colonial repression and plunder of Korea while hastening the preparations for invading the Asian continent in full earnest.
The Korean people, who were subjected to harsh colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists, vigorously waged anti-Japanese mass struggle in different parts of the country. The bare-handed riot crowds could not escape themselves from fiasco before the brutal armed repression by the Japanese imperialists.
The reality urgently demanded to wage an organized armed struggle to beat back the Japanese imperialists who did not willing to give up of their own accord the colony for their aggressive and predatory nature but were armed to the teeth. Proceeding from this, the President expounded the idea that the only way for national liberation was to wage an armed struggle at the historic Kalun Meeting (June 3 July 2, 1930), Mingyuegou Meeting (December 1931) and various other occasions. And by embodying the idea, he founded the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army (AJPGA), the first revolutionary armed forces, on April 25, 1932.
He strengthened the AJPGA politically, ideologically and in military technique at each stage of the anti-Japanese armed struggle. He, basing himself on this, guided the Korean revolution as a whole.
That served as the foundation for building the Party and the state without delay in Korea, which retook the sovereignty of the nation after defeating the Japanese imperialists.
The President had all along directed primary attention to the military affairs and increased the defence capabilities during guiding the revolution and thus made a triumphant advance of the revolution.

Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected KPA Unit 3240 stationed in a frontline area. He learned about the unit's performance of duty before watching the training of servicepersons.
They strikingly demonstrated that they have firmly prepared themselves as matchless fighters by fully displaying the combat technique they have acquired through their tireless day-to-day training true to the WPK's policy of training. He set forth tasks to be tackled to further increase the combat capability of the unit, greatly satisfied to learn that all the servicepersons have been trained into a-match-for-a-hundred combatants possessed of high combat technique and capability. He paid deep attention to the service and living of the servicepersons, going round an educational room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a wash-cum-bath house, a non-staple food store, a barn and other places.
He highly appreciated noble patriotism displayed by servicepersons of the unit, watching the barracks kept neat and tidy like a rest home and their compound clad in thick verdure.
The soldier culture created by the People's Army is replete with the spirit of the era, militant optimism and rich emotion, he said, adding that this has become an example to be followed by all officials and other working people as it is a model of socialist cultured practice in life in the Songun era.
He warmly congratulated the servicepersons of the unit on the significant army day and gave them a pair of binoculars, a machine-gun and an automatic rifle as gifts before having a photo session with them.
The second leg of his inspection was a rice mill built by KPA Unit 549. He praised servicepersons of the unit for having done good for the people, pleased to know that they have successfully built a modern rice mill by their own efforts to help improve diet of people.
The People's Army is admirably playing the role of a pace-setter in all aspects of ideology and culture, struggle and life, demonstrating the might of the revolutionary army capable of doing everything either in the defence of the country or socialist construction, he noted, stressing that these ideological and moral features of the KPA serve as a powerful engine dynamically pushing forward the revolutionary cause of Juche.
