Korean People's Army Praised

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- A film show was held by the Democratic Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association on March 11 and a lecture was given by the Youth Group for the Study of the Juche Idea in Democratic Congo on March 13 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun, the 13th anniversary of the election of leader Kim Jong Il as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and the 74th anniversary of the founding of the heroic Korean People's Army. Otete Gaston Mboyo, chairman of the Democratic Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association, after watching a Korean film "The Korean People's Army, Steel-like Ranks", said that the KPA, guided by Kim Jong Il, is displaying its might as an army strong in idea and faith, matchless ranks fully prepared in military technique. The KPA is sure to triumph at all times as it is holding him in high esteem as its supreme commander, the chairman added.
At the lecture speakers made detailed accounts of the facts that President Kim Il Sung led the Korean revolution while consistently maintaining the idea of attaching importance to the military affairs and that Kim Jong Il has trained the KPA as powerful armed forces with his unique Songun politics.
Displayed in the venues of the functions were photos showing the Songun revolutionary leadership feats of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Moves for Expansion of U.S. Military Base Assailed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- The 562nd candlelight rally reportedly took place in Phaengsong, Kyonggi Province, south Korea on Mar. 16 in protest against the moves of the south Korean "Ministry of National Defense" for requisitioning land for the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek. The rally was attended by inhabitants of Phaengsong preparing for the ploughing of rice fields as resistance against the measure taken by the ministry to forcibly evacuate residents from the land designated as sites for the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek and the farmers and members of different organizations who went there from South and North Chungchong Provinces, Kyonggi Province, South and North Jolla Provinces, south Korean Kangwon Province and other parts of south Korea to express solidarity with the peasants, at least 300 in all.
Speakers at the rally vehemently denounced the ministry for working hard to offer the land of Phyongthaek to the U.S. forces, utterly indifferent to the people's fate, and strongly demanded it cancel this plan at once.

U.S. Stepped-Up Nuclear Arms Build-Up under Fire

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- The United States is a nuclear criminal as it does not hesitate to bring a nuclear holocaust to humankind and a nuclear rogue bereft of reason, preoccupied by nuclear hysteria, says Minju Joson Tuesday in a signed commentary accusing the U.S. of its dangerous moves to maintain an unchallenged edge in the field of the nuclear armed forces and realize its ambition to dominate the world. Drawing attention to the U.S. moves to round off the preparations for a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK through the modernization of nuclear weapons, the news analyst goes on:
The U.S. developed new-type nuclear missiles capable of penetrating underground aimed to destroy underground military facilities in the DPRK and has already decided to deploy them in south Korea on a priority basis. Now it is busy with its moves to develop and deploy the missile defence system (MD) as a prerequisite to realizing its attempt at a preemptive nuclear attack.
It decided to deploy 20 interceptor missiles in Alaska and two more of them in California by 2007 under the pretext of countering "missile attack" from the DPRK. This cannot be interpreted otherwise than a serious development as the true objective of its moves to bolster MD is to neutralize the defence capability of the DPRK and mount a preemptive nuclear attack on it without much difficulty. The DPRK will increase its war deterrent in every way to foil the U.S. hostile policy toward it and Washington's escalated moves to provoke a new war.

U.S. Anti-DPRK "Human Rights" Racket Blasted

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- Some time ago, high-ranking officials of the U.S. administration including Bush and Rice vied with each other to raise a hue and cry over the "human rights situation" in the DPRK as part of its smear campaign against it. This is nothing but a ridiculous "human rights" racket kicked off by the worst human rights abuser, a base mudslinging and a sinister political provocation against the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes this in a signed commentary. It goes on: The U.S. has neither right nor face to talk about human rights. It is a typical inhuman society where people are denied elementary right to existence and human rights are wantonly violated.
The U.S. has blatantly abused human rights not only in the international arena but at home. The U.S. imperialists invaded and occupied Iraq in a brigandish manner defying the UN and the world public protest, cruelly killing innocent Iraqis. They made no scruple of using even chemical weapons in Iraq to burn many civilians including children and women to death in gross violation of international law and conventions. This being a hard reality, the U.S. claims to be a "defender of human rights" and a "human rights judge", shamelessly paying lip-service to human rights. This is an insult to the genuine human rights and human conscience.
The U.S. loudmouthed "human rights issue" is nothing but a political fiction aimed at intensifying its interference in the internal affairs of other countries and its operations to overthrow their governments and stifle them. The "human rights" racket launched by the U.S. against the DPRK on the basis of the above-said fiction would get it nowhere. The U.S. would be well advised to immediately halt the politically-motivated "human rights" racket against the DPRK.

Increased Driving Force for Korean Reunification Called for

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) --Increasing the driving force for reunification is a sure guarantee for achieving Korea's reunification. Only when all Koreans unite close as one under the banner of great national unity, will they prove to be a mighty driving force for reunification and is it possible to shatter every move of the separatist forces at home and abroad against reunification and pave a wide avenue for accomplishing the cause of reunification as early as possible. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article. In order to increase the driving force for reunification all Koreans should come out as one in the movement for independent reunification under the banner of patriotism irrespective of ideology and social system, the article notes, and goes on: It is necessary to strengthen the driving force for reunification in every way through a practical struggle for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity.
All the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should keep pace with one another and take joint actions in the struggle for Korea's reunification in order to frustrate the evermore undisguised moves of the enemies against reunification. Compatriots from all walks of life should glorify the June 15 era of reunification through their many-sided contacts, wide-ranging discussion on the reunification issue and solidarity and alliance and bind the anti-reunification forces at home and abroad hand and foot.
Great national unity should be achieved in the idea of "By our nation itself" and under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
All members of the nation should courageously join the ranks of forces standing for great national unity, bearing in mind that increasing the driving force for reunification under the banner of the declaration guarantees national reunification. Under no circumstances partisan, class and individual interests can be more important than the cause of great national unity and the cause of national reunification. Now that the separatist forces at home and abroad have gone to extremes in their moves, whoever is concerned about the destiny of the country and the nation and truly wishes national reunification should unite close in thinking and purpose in the idea of "By our nation itself" and under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and turn out in the movement for great national unity.

DPRK Consolidates Self-defensive War Deterrent

Ryonghyon Revolutionary Site

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- The Ryonghyon Revolutionary Site in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a significant place associated with revolutionary activities of Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter and an outstanding leader of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement. He visited Ryonghyon-ri of Suan County, North Hwanghae Province, several times from Juche 1 (1912) to Juche 6 (1917) and awakened broad masses with his energetic mass enlightenment activities and aroused them to the anti-Japanese struggle. In March 1912, during his attendance at Pyongyang Sungsil Middle School, he visited the place to educate students of Training Course for Surveyors in anti-Japanese patriotic idea and give a lecture among students of Mongun School, calling upon them to rise up in the struggle against the Japanese imperialists who invaded Korea, true to the fighting spirit of famous patriotic generals. In August he organized a drama performance of the art troupe of Pyongyang Sungsil Middle School and made a speech calling upon the masses to turn out as one in the sagacious struggle against the Japanese imperialists.
Later, he guided the reading sessions of Mongun School and the meetings of participants in the movement for independence in the area, teaching them how to gain comrades who would be pillars in the independence movement. He formed a Sugok branch of the Korean National Association there in June 1917 which would guide the anti-Japanese movement in Suan and Koksan in a unified way. The Sugok branch played a great role in expanding the anti-Japanese national liberation movement on a nation-wide scale.
The revolutionary site was rebuilt as it was on the occasion of his 100th birthday (July, 1994). It includes a lodging house where he enlightened participants in the volunteers' army, public-spirited men and youth and students of the village, Training Course for Surveyors, Mongun School, an oratorical meeting site on Pari Hill, etc. A large number of working people and youth and students are now visiting the revolutionary site to keep in mind the immortal exploits of Kim Hyong Jik, who devoted his all to the liberation of the country with his lofty idea of "Aim High".

Face-lifting of Pyongyang

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- A campaign for spring land management (March 10-April 10) is brisk in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK. All citizens have turned out as one in the campaign for face-lifting the capital this year 60 years after President Kim Il Sung mounted Moran Hill together with leader Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk to plant trees as the first signal of tree-planting work in the country. Pak Chol Nam, head of a department of the Pyongyang City Management Bureau of Land and Environment Conservation, said in an interview with KCNA that the working people of all strata have a high degree of enthusiasm to glorify the leadership exploits of the three generals of Mt. Paektu in this significant year.
    He went on:
Tens of good species of trees including larch trees, Evodia Daniellii Benn and pine-nut trees are now being planted in more than 2,860 hectares of mountains in Sungho District, Sangwon County and other districts and counties surrounding Pyongyang. During the campaign trees along the main streets will be replaced by gingko and apricot trees and more P. Canadensis and maple trees will be planted along all the streets.
City administration fields will pave or repair the roads of scores of kilometers, replace the sidewalk blocks of over 1,760,000 square meters with the color ones and repair the dwelling houses and public buildings of hundreds of thousands of square meters. Hundreds of modern dwelling houses are being built and more than 200 dwelling houses renovated in rural villages surrounding the city.
River embankment projects of 2,000 square meters, dredging projects and waterway improvement projects are underway.
Projects for a month are very vast, but the city management bureau will set broad masses in motion to face-lift the capital and significantly greet the Day of the Sun (April 15), the birthday of Kim Il Sung.

Japan's Anti-DPRK Smear Campaign Blasted

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- A spokesman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA on Mar. 21 as regards a recent false report released by the Japanese Sankei Shimbun (Internet) in which it linked the "case of a missing Macao woman" that took place in 1978 with the DPRK: The DPRK does not know anything about the woman the story of whom was floated by the Japanese paper and who was said to be met by a south Korean. This diatribe is not worth any comment as it is nothing but a poor trick of the Japanese reactionaries to intensify the anti-DPRK smear campaign by charging the DPRK with another case of "abduction."
The hypocritical nature of the recent charade is clearly proved by the fact that all of those involved in the farce are those ill-famed for their anti-DPRK plots and betes noires. Anti-DPRK tricksters of Japan are using even such human scum as a man in hiding for fear of punishment inside and outside Korea after stealing a huge amount of money in the north before the flight to other countries many years ago. The Japanese reactionaries are so base and despicable that they are using even Jenkins in the anti-DPRK smear campaign, reneging on the promise made to the DPRK, despite the fact that he was sent to Japan as a humanitarian measure. It is, therefore, beyond any doubt that these tricksters can stoop to any infamy. No one in the world would believe such poor drama written and orchestrated by themselves as it lacks any evidence.
Japan would be well advised to honestly apologize for the unprecedentedly hideous crimes it committed against the Koreans in the past, well aware that its noisier anti-DPRK smear campaign over the non-existent "abduction case" would only add to its crimes

KCNA Accuses U.S. of Inciting Civil War in Iraq

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- Bloodshed and violence among factions have never ceased in Iraq since the U.S. invasion of the country. They have now gone to extremes. The recent attack on a Shiite mosque has escalated tension among factions and increased social unrest.
Armed men strut about the streets and the number of victims of clashes between Shiites and Sunnites reaches 30 on a daily average, reminiscent of a civil war. The unceasing clashes among nationalities and factions have created the imminent danger of a civil war that would engulf Iraq, to say nothing of Baghdad. Violence among factions in Iraq is an inevitable product of the war of aggression launched by the U.S. and its interference in the internal affairs of the country. The U.S. suppression and massacre of civilians and its wrong policy of inciting confrontation among factions are reducing Iraq to a land where an evil cycle of terrorism and retaliation and extreme chaos and disorder prevail and where freedom and democracy are crudely violated.
Neither freedom nor democracy is guaranteed and people are at feud although they live in the same country. This is the stark reality of Iraq.
It is as clear as noonday that if the intensified violence among factions leads to a civil war in Iraq, it will spread like a strong earthquake affecting the whole Mid-east. The U.S. war of aggression of Iraq brought violence, social chaos and tragedy to the country, not peace and stability.
No wonder, former U.S. President Carter, commenting on the matter, said that the Iraqi war launched by the U.S. was a war of injustice that strangled democracy and increased violence.
The U.S. invaded a sovereign state in March 2003 under an absurd pretext invented by it to meet its political and economic purposes defying the United Nations and in gross violation of international law. It was an unpardonable crime.
The U.S. is hatching despicable plots to drive a wedge among factions in Iraq and escalate violence there in a bid to plunge the whole country into a civil war of genocide. This is little short of doubling or trebling its war crimes committed against the Iraqis and other people of the world desirous of global peace and stability. It is quite natural that the world public is becoming increasingly assertive that the U.S. president and war fanatics should be brought to an international tribunal so that they may be judged as war criminals and forced to pay for the catastrophic aftermath of the Iraqi war.
This notwithstanding, the chief executive and the defense secretary of the U.S. claim that the Iraqi people are at the moment of choice and media are hyping up violence among religious forces. This is the height of folly.
The wars waged by the U.S. in different parts of the world can never be interpreted as just wars as injustice can not prevail over justice and a lie can never turn out to be truth.

Kim Jong Il Inspects Women's Sub-Unit of KPA Unit

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected a women's sub-unit of KPA Unit 824. He acquainted himself with the sub-unit's performance of duty. He took deep care of its servicepersons' service and living, going round an education room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a non-staple food store, a wash-cum-bath house and other educational entertainment and supply service facilities.
He highly praised the achievements made by the commanding officers and women of the sub-unit in the past, saying they are managing the sub-unit well by learning from the traits and lifestyle of the anti-Japanese war heroes.
He said that all the women soldiers are admirable revolutionaries and patriots as they are displaying matchless devotion in the performance of their sacred mission to defend the country, expressing satisfaction over the fact that the servicepersons of the sub-unit are not only distinguishing themselves in carrying out their military duty but managing their economic life assiduously.
After seeing a variety of materials for education and means of cultural recreation in the education room, he was pleased to learn that servicepersons were provided with all conditions for fully enjoying a cultural and emotional life and praised the commanding officers for having paid deep attention to their living.
The warm comradeship for the soldiers is one of the noble traits of the commanding officers of our revolutionary army, he said, noting that all the commanding officers should take deep care of the soldiers' living down to all details with paternal love. It is good for the sub-unit to make thorough-going preparations for sideline farming with the firm determination to make spectacular success in it this year, too, he said, underscoring the need to direct big efforts to the supply service to provide better living conditions to the servicepersons.
He had a photo session with the servicepersons of the sub-unit. He was accompanied by Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Hwang Pyong So.

Desata EE.UU. nueva campana anti-RPDC, comenta Rodong Sinmun
