"Resolution on Human Rights" against DPRK Rejected

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- The permanent mission of the DPRK in the UN Secretariat and international organizations in Geneva called a press conference on Dec. 15 in connection with the more frantic U.S.-led anti-DPRK "human rights racket". An official of the mission in his speech said that the growing tendency of politicizing human rights at the UN gives rise to serious concern among the international community, whose typical example is the adoption of a "resolution on human rights" against the DPRK at the 3rd Committee of the 60th UN General Assembly.
He strongly rejected the "resolution", asserting that it is consistent with false materials faked up by the hostile forces from long ago and, in essence, it is aimed at slandering the DPRK and "overthrowing its system".
The U.S. and the EU countries are chiefly to blame for the adoption of the "resolution", he stressed, holding that the grave human rights abuses by the U.S. and its following countries should be called in question if they are to really debate on the human rights issue.
Citing data to bring to light the U.S. human rights abuses, encroachment on the sovereignty of other countries, destruction, plunder and man slaughter, through wars, big or small, he went on to say:
Nevertheless, the EU countries and Japan are pulling up the DPRK over the "human rights", deliberately turning their face away from them. This can not be construed otherwise than a concentrated expression of politicization, option and double standards of human rights. It is more ridiculous that the EU countries are blindly toeing the U.S. line in opposing the DPRK, while their sovereignty is encroached on by the U.S. which operates secrete prisons in their lands.
In order to put an end to showdown in the field of international human rights and materialize dialogue and cooperation the U.S. attempt to abuse human rights for its unreasonable political purpose should be ruled out and, at the same time, unprincipled behavior of the EU countries and Japan dancing to the tune of the U.S. be stopped.
Meanwhile, press conferences were called at the permanent mission of the DPRK in the UN and the DPRK embassy in Britain.

Over 1,470 Solidarity Functions Held in Over 70 Countries

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- The number of solidarity functions held in the DPRK and over 70 countries by international democratic organizations, anti-war and peace organizations and organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people this year reached at least 1,470. At the venues of the functions the justness of the principled stand and proposals of the government of the DPRR regarding the nuclear issue were introduced and the just cause of the Korean people to force the U.S. troops out of south Korea and pave the way for independent reunification was supported.
A world conference supporting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea took place in Pyongyang in August on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Korea's liberation, an international indignation meeting condemning the U.S. crimes in Korea in Sinchon, South Hwanghae Province, the 3rd session of the international council for solidarity demanding the settlement of the past of Japan in Pyongyang in September. The functions condemned the unjustness of the U.S. imperialists' hostile policy toward the DPRK and expressed a firm will to support the policies of the DPRK government for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and conduct more vigorous international activities for solidarity with the Korean people's cause of national reunification.
Support and solidarity with the just cause of the Korean people were expressed in five continents.
International democratic organizations and friendly and solidarity organizations and political and public figures and people of different countries sent messages and letters of solidarity to leader Kim Jong Il, made public statements and held solidarity functions including meetings, demonstrations, international meetings, seminars, photo exhibitions and film shows on the occasion of the 60th anniversaries of the foundation of the Workers' Party of Korea and Korea's liberation, the 5th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the 25th anniversary of the publication of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo and in the June 25-July 27 month of joint struggle against the U.S. There were many functions for solidarity including an Internet seminar of the European region on the Songun politics held under the sponsorship of the Association for Friendship with Korea with its headquarters in Spain and a world conference on the cause of independence against imperialism in the 21st century held in Venezuela.
The participants in the functions said that the Korean people would certainly win a victory thanks to the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il, expressing firm solidarity with the Korean people upholding the banner of anti-imperialist independence and socialism. They called on the world peace-loving people to extend full support to the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

Candlelight Rally and Demonstration Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- The 27th candlelight rally condemning the killing of peasants was reportedly held in Seoul on Dec. 21. At the rally speakers accused the authorities of evading responsibility without any apology for the murder case even after the passage of a month, deploring the policemen's killing of peasants which is a thrice-cursed atrocity.
They stated that people from all walks of life would not stop their struggle till they build the world of workers and peasants.
At the end of the rally the participants marched up to the vicinity of "Chongwadae".
They held a meeting again and waged struggle till late at night, evincing their resentment toward "Chongwadae".

Rodong Sinmun on U.S. Smear Campaign against DPRK

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary denounces the U.S. political, economic and military pressure on the DPRK as a shameless campaign which can be made only by those who dream of stifling its system, quite indifferent to the settlement of the nuclear issue. The DPRK regards the U.S. unreasonable smear campaign against it as an unpardonable insult to the Korean people, the commentary says, and goes on: The U.S. vicious human rights abuses committed in Afghanistan and Iraq go to prove that the U.S. is an international group of criminals most heinously violating human rights in the world.
It is nonsense and the height of shamelessness and plot that such a criminal group isolated and rejected by the international community dares insult the dignified DPRK as a "criminal state".
It is none other than the United States that blocks the settlement of the nuclear issue and the progress of the six-party talks.
The U.S. is working hard to force the DPRK to "abandon its nuclear program first", economically blockade it and hamper its building of a great prosperous powerful nation. To tell the truth, it intends to brand the DPRK as a "criminal state" to build up world public and, on this basis, more legitimately strengthen its moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK.
The Korean army and people with strong independence and pluck neither care whatever the U.S. may say nor shake in its sanctions and pressure. Whatever the U.S. may do, it does not work on their pluck. The U.S. had better clearly understand the DPRK's toughest countermeasure and act with discretion.

Constitutional Day of DPRK Marked

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- Papers here today carry editorials on the occasion of the constitutional day of the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun in its editorial says: With the promulgation of the Socialist Constitution on Dec. 27, Juche 61 (1972) by President Kim Il Sung, the Korean people could consolidate the achievements in the revolution and construction and give full play to the advantages and invincibility of Korean-style socialism centered on the popular masses.
The First Session of the 10th Supreme People's Assembly held in Juche 87 (1998) marked an occasion of important switchover in further developing the state and social system and strengthening the political, military and economic might of the country in every way as newly required by the Songun revolution. The Socialist Constitution was renamed the Kim Il Sung Constitution and the system of state organs changed into the system with the National Defence Commission as its backbone so as to make it possible to firmly defend the President's idea and exploits of state building in the new century and ensure a victorious advance of the Songun cause of Juche under any grave circumstances.
Calling upon all the people to bear in mind the great pride of advancing the socialist cause of Juche with the greatest Kim Il Sung Constitution and speed up their advance in the new century, the editorial goes on:
The whole Party, the entire army and all the people should uphold the Songun idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il with loyalty in one mind, bring about a surge of the Songun revolution and thus make a new turn in the building of a great prosperous powerful country.
The U.S. imperialists and other reactionaries are now more vicious in their moves for ideological and cultural infiltration and economic blockade to undermine Korean-style socialism. This reality requires to further strengthen the socialist law-abiding life.
The editorial calls for establishing the revolutionary atmosphere of law observance in the whole society.
Minju Joson editorially calls for applying the Kim Il Sung Constitution thoroughly to step up the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.

Premier of Chinese State Council on Boosting Sino-Korean Relations of Friendship and Cooperation

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- It is the strategic policy of China to develop the friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK and we will invariably maintain this policy to further consolidate and develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the Workers' Party of Korea and the Communist Party of China and between the two countries. Wen Jiabao, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC who is premier of the State Council of China, said this when meeting and conversing with the DPRK government delegation led by Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Ro Tu Chol in a friendly atmosphere at Zhongnanhai, Beijing, on Dec. 26.
Noting that the Sino-Korean friendly relations keep a continuously favorable trend of development and there are mutual visits of high-level delegations, Wen Jiabao said that leader Kim Jong Il's visit to China last year and President Hu Jintao's visit to the DPRK this year serve as the driving force of steadily boosting the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties and the two peoples.
The Chinese people are rejoiced over the great achievements made by the Korean people rallied close around Kim Jong Il in all the fields including economic construction and social progress under the leadership of the WPK, he added.

U.S. Dangerous Moves for War Denounced

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- U.S. President Bush's repeated insistence on the justification of the doctrine on "preemptive attack" is an open declaration of expansion of a "war against terrorism" and the U.S. military aggression of other countries. Minju Joson today in a signed commentary says this, and continues:
It can be said that it is a prelude to bring an evil cycle of aggression, war and terrorism to humankind and commit unprecedented abuses of human rights. Bush and his administration started a deceptive psychological warfare, justifying their doctrine on unilateral and aggressive "preemptive attack". It involves a great danger as it is a foolish plot to calm down the anti-American sentiment growing all over the world and improve the U.S. image defamed due to its occupation of Iraq and "war against terrorism".
The Bush administration has openly challenged the demand of the international community and humankind for putting an end to the evil cycle of aggression, war and terrorism and providing a free and peaceful circumstance. The world cannot be peaceful and the worst abuses of human rights beyond human imagination cannot be removed as long as the Bush administration remains.

Light Industrial Factories Updated

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) --Efforts have been made to renovate light industrial factories for the betterment of the people's living standard in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Investment and scientific and technical forces have been concentrated on these projects, with the result that many successes have been scored in this field this year.
A new modern knitting yarn workshop with production capacity 4 times that of the existing one was commissioned at the Pyongyang Textile Mill. And the Songyo Knitting Factory had its production processes reinforced with more than 200 knitting machines. It makes it possible to mass-produce quality knitting yarn and fabrics with colorful patterns.
The Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory has renovated the flexible loom production base, thus opening a prospect to manufacture flexible looms on an assembly-line.
The Pyongyang Korean Clothes Factory has built an embroidering process controlled by computer to beautifully decorate silk fabrics woven by the Pakchon and Nyongbyon Silk Mills to meet women's taste.
Renovation projects have been carried out in the local industrial field. Essential foodstuff factories including the Kaechon and Rason Essential Foodstuff Factories were built or reconstructed on a modern basis in over 30 cities and counties. They are producing tasty soy and bean paste and other nutritious essential foodstuffs.
Bean-milk production bases with a production capacity of several thousand tons have been built in all provinces to supply bean milk and bean sour milk regularly to the children. Among the newly built factories and workshops are the Sinuiju Bean-milk Factory and the bean milk workshop of the Hamhung Essential Foodstuff Factory.

True Colors of "Democracy" Seen through Constitution (2) -Equal Rights of People -

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- The equal rights and social and cultural freedom of the citizens are an important issue related to the existence and development of people. The citizens of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea exercise the equal rights in all the domains of social life, political, economic and cultural, irrespective of nationality and sex by the constitution.
They also enjoy all the rights of a social being including rights to free education, free medical service, labor and rest, leading an independent and creative life.
The Constitution of the United States proclaims those who were born in the country or naturalized as the citizens of the country and stipulates that to restrict their special rights and privileges shall be banned. But worst racial and national inequality and sexual inequality in the U.S., where the state laws are put above the Federal ones, bring the falsity of the "equality" of the people to light.
Some states prohibit black people from studying together with white people by law and the Supreme Court of the United States empowers the Federal Administration to rule the American Indians without restriction. As a result, the human rights of the American Indians are mercilessly abused. The constitution amendment to sexual equality adopted in 1972 lost its validity as the majority of inhabitants did not approve it till the expiration of its term.
The American women are not paid duly according to the same work done, the female portion of company clerks is no more than 10 percent and they are the first victims of various crimes.
The "freedom" and "rights" of the U.S. people including the freedom of education with free choice of schools and freedom of lessons as the main content and the right to medical service by which they are allowed to receive medical treatment anytime once they take out "medical insurance" have nothing to do with them. On the contrary, they are making the working masses mental cripples and slaves to money.
There are tens of millions of illiterates in the U.S. styling itself a "civilized country" and a lot of people do not receive medical treatment for lack of money. There can not be genuine democracy in the U.S., where the only monopoly capitalists, no more than 0.02 percent of its population, lord it over. The reality clearly shows that the civil rights and duties in the socialist society give full play to democracy but the "freedom" and "rights" of the people in the capitalist society violate democracy.
