U.S. Forces' Moves to Replace Their Combat Equipment by Ultra-Modern Hardware under Fire

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Solidarity of south Korea to Implement the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration reportedly issued a statement on Nov. 9 denouncing the U.S. forces in south Korea for scheming to replace their combat equipment by ultra-modern hardware. Referring to the south Korean "Government's Information Bureau's" disclosure of the fact that all the combat equipment of the U.S. forces in south Korea would be replaced by the ultra-modern hardware, the statement said: This clearly proves that the U.S. is stepping up its preparations for a war against the north behind the scene, though it is giving lip-service to "respect for sovereignty" and "peaceful co-existence."
The real intention of the U.S. is to bolster up its armed forces in order to invade the north. The U.S. should immediately stop its criminal moves to start a war on the Korean Peninsula and withdraw its troops from south Korea.

Political Conspiracy over "Proposal on Rice Negotiations" Blasted

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Members of religious organizations and farmers' organizations of south Korea reportedly called a press conference on Nov. 10 near the building of the "National Assembly" in Youi-do, Seoul, at which they denounced the political conspiracy between the ruling and opposition parties over the "proposal on rice negotiations." Mun Kyong Sik, chairman of the "National Federation of Peasants Associations", and other speakers accused the Grand National Party and the Uri Party of colluding with each other in the move to railroad the humiliating "proposal on rice negotiations" through the session of the "National Assembly." This political conspiracy has put the food sovereignty and the farmers' living in danger, the speakers noted, calling for pooling efforts and doing their best to protect agriculture to the last.
A statement was made public at the press conference.
The statement said the food sovereignty can never be an object of dealing and this is a matter related to the life of the nation, stressing the need for the political camp to take radical measures to save agriculture.

Symposium for Liquidation of Japan's Past Held

Tokyo, November 12 (KNS-KCNA) -- A symposium for liquidation of Japan's past was held in Osaka on Nov. 4. Video show disclosing the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists during the period of their colonial rule over Korea was screened before speeches were made.
The speakers said this year is a century after the fabrication of the "Ulsa Five-Point Treaty" in 1905.
They referred to the fact that the Japanese government has not yet admitted the illegality of its past colonial rule over Korea nor liquidated its past. They hoped that the participants in the symposium would cooperate in persuading the government to liquidate the past.
Etsuro Totsuga, professor of the Ryukoku University, gave a special lecture titled "Illegality of the Ulsa Treaty and Responsibility of the Japanese Government" at the symposium.
Hong Sang Jin, secretary general of the Central Headquarters of the Koreans' Side of the Investigation Group for Probe into the Truth behind the Forcible Drafting of Koreans, and Yoshihiro Sorano, secretary general of the Japanese Side's National Liaison Council of the group, respectively made their reports on the "point of time, 100-year history in Japan" and "Legal Status of Koreans in Japan."
An appeal was made public at the symposium.
The appeal called for making this year a year of Japan's liquidation of the past.

Japanese Political Circles' Turn to Right under Fire

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday carries a signed commentary denouncing the Japanese political circles for veering to the Right and stepping up militarization. Recalling that Abe, chief cabinet secretary of the new Cabinet, described the present chief executive's visit to the "Yasukuni Shrine" as the one for praying for the souls of those who died for the country, while zealously supporting the visit, the news analyst says:
No rhetoric can cover up the criminal nature of the Japanese chief executive's visit to the shrine. His visit to the shrine precisely means an undisguised denial of the crime-woven past of Japan and is little short of inciting the militarist idea.
Japan is becoming evermore undisguised in its moves to distort and beautify the crimes it committed in the past and evade its responsibility for them. Heavyweights of political circles in Japan are vying with each other to let loose outbursts beautifying and totally negating its crime-woven past. Worst of them is Ishihara, Tokyo Metropolitan governor who has made himself infamous as an ultra-right politician.
He, addressing a seminar held in Washington, negated the Nanjing massacre committed by the Japanese imperialists. Then, did he have any scientific ground to negate it? No, he had nothing.
What matters is that there are not a few politicians such as Ishihara. It is not an exaggeration that the Japanese political camp has almost turned to the Right and militarism. Abe's remarks defending the Japanese chief executive's visit to the "Yasukuni Shrine" and Ishihara's assertion openly negating the Nanjing massacre are, in fact, a miniature of the present political camp in Japan.
Japan's turn to the Right leads to the militarization of the Japanese society. The real purpose sought by the right-wing reactionaries in the Japanese political circles in their moves to beautify the crime-woven past of the Japanese imperialists and their visits to the shrine is aimed at speeding up the militarization of the Japanese society.
The international community should be alerted by Japan's turn to the Right and militarism. If they fail to follow what is going on in Japan with a high degree of vigilance, no one can predict what sort of disaster will befall Asia and the rest of the world.
The Korean people are closely following Japan's turn to the Right and militarism.

"New Right", Variety of Ultra-rightist Conservatives

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed commentary brands the "National League of New Right" framed up in south Korea on Nov. 7 as a variety of ultra-right conservative bodies in the U.S. The establishment of the league reflects the last-ditch effort of the pro-U.S. conservative forces in south Korea to get rid of the crisis of ruin, much upset by the vigorous advance of the June 15 era for reunification and the south Korean social trend toward progressive reform, the commentary says, and goes on:
It is the basic trend of south Korean society to achieve independence against the U.S., national reunification and progressive reform. Old conservative forces going against the trend are going downhill with each passing day.
The growing struggle of south Korean people from all walks of life for a probe into the truth behind the past history and for withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea has already sentenced all the leftovers of the Cold War era including the conservative forces to death The organization of the league clearly proves that the reactionary advance of those forces challenging south Korean social progress and national reunification has reached the last-ditch bid. They have set out to make a coup-like operation looking forward to the 2007 "presidential election". This is clearly proved by the GNP and other conservative opposition party charlatans' action of peeping over the league.
The nature of those with the old way of thinking will never change no matter how many times they may rename themselves. The south Korean people aspiring after national reunification and prosperity and social progress should turn out in a dynamic struggle to disclose and foil the dirty conspiratorial moves of the right-wing conservative forces hastening under the signboard of the "new right."

Rodong Sinmun on Idea of "By Our Nation Itself"

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation is able to realize the three forms of cooperation -- cooperation for national independence, cooperation for peace against war and cooperation for reunification and patriotism -- and successfully push forward the cause of independent reunification only when it holds fast to the idea of "By our nation itself", says Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed article. "By our nation itself" is the idea of noble patriotism which hardens the will of the Koreans to reject the foreign forces in carving out the destiny of the nation and cooperate by our nation itself, the article notes, and goes on:
"By our nation itself" is the spirit of patriotism and national consciousness that the destiny of the nation is shaped by the Korean nation itself and the firm will of the Korean nation to beat back the aggression and interference of the foreign forces by the concerted efforts of the nation. The idea of "by our nation itself" is the motive force of promoting the three forms of cooperation.
The idea is that of national independence and great national unity.
The idea serves as a powerful weapon for boosting cooperation for national independence, peace against war and reunification and patriotism on a nationwide scale.
The U.S. has run amuck to isolate and stifle the DPRK politically and militarily and the south Korean pro-American flunkeyist forces have cooperated with the U.S. in line with its moves for aggression against reunification. The reality requires the Korean nation to wage a vigorous struggle to materialize cooperation under the banner of the three forms of cooperation.
Only when the Korean nation puts the idea of "By our nation itself" into practice in hearty response to it can the nation pave the wide avenue for the victory of the movement for national reunification despite the desperate moves of the anti-reunification forces at home and abroad. All the fellow countrymen at home and abroad will wage a more dynamic struggle to realize the three forms of cooperation, bearing deep in mind the noble idea of independent national reunification, "By our nation itself".
