Grain Threshing Makes Brisk Headway

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- All farms across the country are concentrating all efforts on grain thrashing to conclude the year's farming as early as possible. According to data available from the Ministry of Agriculture, the thrashing of rice and maize is progressing 1.3 times faster than it did in the same period of last year, taking the country as a whole, thanks to the high-pitched labor drive waged by the officials and other working people in the field of agriculture and their helpers.
South Hwanghae and South Phyongan Provinces, key grain producers of the country, are keeping the carriage of rice sheaves ahead of other work by making a maximum use of transport means and successfully pushing ahead with the grain thrashing through full-capacity operation of farm machines including threshing combines.
The threshing on the farms in Pyongyang and North Phyongan and South Hamgyong Provinces is going faster than others as they are overfulfilling their quotas for each field and their daily assignments by focusing manpower on it and effectively using mobile rice threshing machines and other means. Meanwhile, the farms are taking timely measures to store the threshed grain with good care and transport it to consumers in good time.

S. Korean Peasants Struggle against Humiliating Negotiations

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- Peasants across south Korea staged rallies, demonstrations and sit-in strikes on Nov. 3 to bar the humiliating "bill on rice negotiations" from being railroaded through the "National Assembly", according to the KBS of south Korea. That day peasants affiliated to the South Chungchong Provincial Branch of the "National Federation of Peasants Associations" held a rally and demonstration in front of the building of the South Chungchong Provincial Committee of the Uri Party demanding the restoration of the autumn grain procurement system and the payment of the rice production cost.
When riot police stood in their way, they offered stiff resistance, remaining strong in their will to struggle on.
Meanwhile, peasants affiliated to the Kwangju and South Jolla branches of the federation staged a demonstration near a motorway. They loaded trucks up with sheaves of rice and attempted to leave for Seoul in a bid to check the NA ratification of the "bill on rice negotiations" brought up for discussion at its session.
Infuriated by the total police blockade, they held a protest rally in front of the building of the provincial office building before piling up straw bags containing rice in front of the building of the South Jolla Provincial Peasants Association and entering into sit-in strikes inside tents.

Koreans Called upon to Achieve National Cooperation

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- National cooperation serves as a treasured sword for ensuring peace of the country and accomplishing the cause of its reunification as it helps the 70 million Koreans stand on the common front for defending the homeland, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed article. Security and reunification of the country should be achieved by the concerted efforts of the nation in a responsible manner under any circumstances as it is an issue related to the nation's sovereignty and destiny, the article says, and goes on:
National cooperation is invincible as it identifies patriotism as its ideological and moral basis.
The patriotic spirit and identity inherent to the Korean nation formed and consolidated throughout its 5,000 year-long history remain unchanged although the Koreans have lived separated into the north and the south.
The Korean nation can certainly achieve solidarity and alliance for its common cause despite various differences including differing ideologies and systems in the north and the south and differing wishes and interests of various classes and strata only when they consider patriotism as an ideological and moral basis. The Koreans have already proved this in the course of implementing the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, closely united in the idea of "By our nation itself." Only when all the Koreans who ardently love the country and the nation and value its dignity cooperate with each other can they reliably defend the country's peace and security and dynamically push forward the movement for independent reunification, no matter what ferocious aggressors may attack them and no matter how desperately the anti-reunification forces may work.
The article calls on all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to turn out in the movement for achieving the cooperation for national independence, cooperation for peace against war and cooperation for reunification and patriotism, as required by the June 15 era of reunification guided by the idea of "By our nation itself."

Special Write-ups Posted on U.S. Internet Homepage

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Group for the Study of Songun Politics posted a special write-up on its internet homepage "Room for the study of red sun under militant socialism of Juche" on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. The homepage carried portraits of the three generals of Mt. Paektu and photos showing the revolutionary activities of the peerlessly great men and great woman including a photo of President Kim Il Sung standing on Mt. Paektu together with leader Kim Jong Il. It edited instructions given by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on thoroughly establishing Juche in the revolution and construction, adhering to independence, intensifying the struggle against imperialism and the U.S., consolidating the national defense capability and waging a staunch struggle against modern revisionism and other materials.
It also carried aphorisms of Kim Jong Il on the revolutionary view on the leader, philosophy, viewpoint and attitude toward the people and the role of ideology, etc, under the title "Aphorisms reflecting the brilliant wisdom of the respected general Kim Jong Il."

U.S. Forces' Impudent Behavior Assailed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- We vehemently condemn the U.S. forces for their arrogant and brazen-faced behavior of declaring the man-killers not guilty just as they did the GIs who mercilessly drove their armored car over the two teen-age girl students to death. The preparatory committee of the Society for Commemorating the Anniversary of Death of Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son on June 13 through Candlelight Processions for Independence and Peace in south Korea said this on Nov. 1 in its statement entitled "We bitterly denounce the arrogant and brazen-faced U.S. forces in south Korea."
Referring to the fact that the U.S. military authorities ordered the criminals who drove a truck over Kim Myong Ja to death in Tongduchon City, Kyonggi Province in June to undergo additional driving training, far from taking a legal action against them, the statement went on:
GI crimes will never stop and such cases of murder by armored car and truck continue to break out unless the humiliating and unequal SOFA is abolished. We accuse the "government" authorities of their sycophantic and humiliating behavior of uttering no word of protest against the verdict of not guilty given to the GI criminals.
The U.S. forces should probe the truth behind the killing of the woman by a truck and punish the criminals at once. Immediately repeal the unequal SOFA.

All Countries Advocating Independence Urged to Unite Close

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- "Let us unite with the world's people who defend independence and make the whole world independent!" This slogan contained in the joint slogans issued by the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the Central Military Commission of the WPK has a strong appeal to the world revolutionary people. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes this in a signed article. It goes on:
The joint slogans serve as a banner of international unity to be held aloft by all the people who advocate independence as they represent the desire of the Korean people and world revolutionary people to eternally glorify the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in the efforts to accomplish the cause of global independence.
In order to strengthen the driving force for global independence and increase its role the people of all countries which advocate independence should unite close. Reflected in the joint slogans are the basis on which the anti-imperialist independent forces in our era should achieve unity and an idea concerning the principle of building international revolutionary forces.
The WPK's idea of achieving international unity is clearly set out in the avowed idea of its foreign policy -- independence, peace and friendship-- clarified in the joint slogans.
The struggle for realizing global independence represents acute confrontation between the world anti-imperialist independent forces and dominationist forces.
If the progressives are to protect national independence and dignity and attain their independent development they should counter the U.S. imperialist-led dominationist forces' moves for division and dissention and their beat-one-by-one strategy with a strategy of unity. The joint slogans call on the people in the present times to embody this idea and meet this requirement.
All the people who advocate independence can successfully accomplish the cause of global independence only when they stage a dynamic struggle true to the idea of international unity clarified in the joint slogans.
The Korean people will unite close with them and intensify the struggle to achieve global independence, the article concludes.

KCNA Refutes U.S. Anti-DPRK Human Rights Campaign

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- The United States has become all the more vicious in its anti-DPRK smear campaign under the pretext of its "human rights issue." Shortly ago, the U.S. manipulated the Freedom House and other NGOs to hold an "international conference on the north Korean human rights issue" and staged such farce as mailing a bundle of letters of complaints.
It also instigated Britain and other countries to fabricate and spread sheer fictions about "illicit dealings" such as "counterfeit notes" and "drug smuggling." Under the U.S. manipulation Britain referred "a draft resolution on the north Korean human rights issue" to the 60th session of the UN General Assembly on behalf of the EU despite the objection of several countries including some EU nations, thus joining the U.S. in its "human rights" campaign. This clearly reveals that the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK remains unchanged as it diametrically runs counter to the spirit of the fourth round of the six-party talks.
The U.S. is keen to slander the DPRK and pressurize it at a time when key issues pending solution between the two countries need serious discussion with the fifth round of the six-party talks near at hand. It is virtually intolerable when taking the relations between sovereign states into account and a serious insult to its dialogue partner.
Lurking behind the U.S. "human rights racket" is a foolish attempt to escalate pressure upon the DPRK, wrest a "concession" from it at the forthcoming six-party talks and, furthermore, realize a "regime change" in it.
The human rights issue has been misused by the U.S. as a means for achieving its political purpose and as leverage for painting its illegal acts for "regime changes" in other countries as legitimate acts.
It is the U.S. objective to realize "regime changes" in those countries of politico-economic and strategic importance and in those anti-U.S. independent countries under the pretext of "human rights issue."
To this end the U.S. adopted the "North Korean Human Rights Act" last year aimed at "improving the human rights performance" in the DPRK and decided to allot tens of millions of dollars for this purpose. Recently the U.S. set it as the ultimate goal of its administration to put an "end to tyranny" in the DPRK.
Now that the notorious "North Korean Human Rights Act" has entered the phase of full implementation the U.S. is desperately working to build up public opinion about the "human rights issue" in the DPRK among NGOs in the U.S. and "friendly countries" such as Britain so as to create an atmosphere favorable for "international pressure".
It is ridiculous enough for the U.S., the world's biggest human rights abuser, to try to put international pressure upon the DPRK over its "human rights issue."
It is truth that the U.S. and Britain are killing innocent civilians almost every day after invading other countries by force under the pretext of "anti-terrorism" and forcing millions to starve to death by applying unreasonable economic sanctions against them. This is the most hideous human rights abuse the international community should call into question among other things.
The role played by the U.S. as "a human rights judge" characterized by the politicization of human rights, application of double standards and selectivity and arrogant admonition and open interference in other's internal affairs has only touched off mistrust and confrontation among countries, far from improving the human rights performance there.
The "human rights" touted by the U.S. are, by no means, for the sake of other countries, but to meet its own interest. It is no more than a mean political operation to transform the whole world in American style.
Explicitly speaking, it will be hard to expect any progress in solving pending issues between the DPRK and the U.S. and that will only adversely affect it should the U.S. and Britain keep going reckless as now.
The Koreans will never step back from the principle that human rights precisely mean sovereignty but remain strong in their determination to defend Korean-style socialism, their life and soul, at the cost of their life.

Japan's Dangerous Plot to Adopt War Constitution Assailed

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- The Japan Liberal Democratic Party finally decided on an amendment to the constitution little short of claiming Japan's possession of armed forces despite the unanimous protest and objection among the public at home and abroad. Through this it seeks to annul the "pacifist constitution" which exists in name only and openly launch overseas aggression. Minju Joson Tuesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:
The Japanese reactionaries assert that the revision of the constitution is necessary for "the security of the state and people." However, this is nothing but sophism intended to cover up their criminal aim and dodge the protest and denunciation among the public at home and abroad.
Neither country nor organization in Asia threatens Japan's security and there is no such an urgent situation. On the contrary, peace and security in Asia-Pacific are threatened by Japan.
It is an ulterior motive of Japan to secure a legal framework for overseas aggression in order to match its capability for military attack that has been bolstered up to the utmost and start overseas aggression as quickly as possible.
It is as clear as daylight that in case Japan's "pacifist constitution" is replaced by a "war constitution" it will openly set out on overseas aggression and then this will undoubtedly render the situation in Asia more strained and acute.
Japan's moves to emerge a military power and launch overseas expansion should be checked for the sake of peace and stability in Asia and the rest of the world.
The armed forces and people of the DPRK are closely watching every move of the Japanese reactionaries for overseas expansion and keep themselves fully ready to counter it.
The Japanese reactionaries should drop their reckless moves at once, cogitating about the miserable consequences to be entailed by the militarist moves for overseas aggression.

Spokesman for DPRK FM. Refutes U.S. Chief Executive's Anti-DPRK Vituperation

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry Tuesday gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA as regards the report that recently the U.S. chief executive again hurled mud at the supreme headquarters of the DPRK: According to foreign press reports, on Nov. 6 Bush, revealing again his inveterate rejection of the DPRK during his tour of Brazil, malignantly slandered our supreme headquarters with such unspeakable vituperation as "tyrant" and the like.
If this is true, what he uttered is a blatant violation of the spirit of the joint statement of the six-party talks which calls for "respect for sovereignty" and "peaceful co-existence."
It is hard to discern whether Bush is aware of the content of the joint statement or he intentionally pretends to be ignorant of it.
However, what is clear is that he does not know about the trend of the times at all.
These remarks made by the U.S. chief executive against the backdrop of his administration's intensified moves for economic and financial sanctions against us quite contrary to the spirit of the joint statement arouse our serious concern about the prospect of implementing the joint statement and deprive us of any trust in the negotiators of the U.S. side to the six-party talks who claim to be have been mandated by him.
We will never pardon whoever dares speak ill of our supreme headquarters in any case.
