On display in the venue of the seminar were photos showing the revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and photos dealing with the advantages of the socialist system in the DPRK.
The vice-president of the University said that the Korean people are waging a dynamic struggle to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the banner of the Juche idea and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea. He went on:
Kim Il Sung fathered the Juche idea and built a unique socialist country centered on the popular masses.
The DPRK is successfully protecting the sovereignty and dignity of the country with the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il.
We are highly proud of having awarded our university's honorable doctorate to him in 2001 in high recognition of his ideological and theoretical exploits. Head of a chair of the university N. Bold noted that the imperialists are increasing pressure upon the DPRK such as economic sanctions and blockade in an attempt to deter it from advancing along the road of independence. But the Korean people are firmly defending the sovereignty of their country, meeting all challenges of the imperialists, under the banner of the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il, he added:
The DPRK is the most developed socialist country centered on the popular masses quite different from what the Western countries say about it. He said he would conduct positive activities for the study of the Juche idea including the holding of seminars and briefings so as to help more many teachers and students grasp the advantages of Korean-style socialism and expand the ranks of the centre.

Japanese Government Urged to Compensate Former "Comfort Women"

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Amnesty International released a report on the issue of the "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army on Oct. 28 against the backdrop of the growing world public voices demanding Japan apologize and compensate for its past crimes. Amnesty International asserted in its report that the "above-mentioned issue is a violation of international law and the Japanese government is, therefore, obliged to make a legal compensation to the former 'comfort women'".
The report continued: The above-mentioned crimes are war crimes and quite contrary to humanism as they are evidence proving the most heartbreaking sexual slavery. It is not a simple moral duty for the Japanese government to compensate for those crimes.
It urged the Japanese government to take an effective measure for making an urgent adequate compensation to the former "comfort women" and advised it to work out a report on their status.
It also demanded the Diet admit its responsibility and apologize to them.

U.S. Forces in S. Korea Stage Evacuation Drill of Noncombatants

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. forces in south Korea staged an exercise of evacuating noncombatants to Japan allegedly to cope with a contingency, according to the south Korean KBS. They evacuated noncombatants including GI families to the U.S. air base in Iwakuni of Japan by clippers and by air on Oct. 28 and brought them back to south Korea two days later. This was disclosed by "The Stars and Stripes" published by the U.S. Department of Defense.
The recent drill was staged at a time when the U.S. is holding a war confab with the south Korean trigger-happy elements after working out "OPLAN 5027-04", a new war scenario to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the north. This clearly indicates that the U.S. preparations for a war of aggression have already reached a final phase.
The U.S. should stop at once such reckless war moves designed to chill the atmosphere of the forthcoming 5th six-party talks.

U.S. Occupation Forces' Arbitrary Practices in S. Korea Assailed

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. forces side in south Korea whisked away their soldier, who ruthlessly drove a truck over a south Korean woman to death in Tongduchon, Kyonggi Province in June last, without any trial or punishment, claiming that he did not do anything wrong. This fact was disclosed by south Korean media recently. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Friday observes that this arbitrary practice of the U.S. forces is nothing but a repetition of their killing of Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son. It denounces the case as a crime against the Korean nation, a clear indication of the U.S. imperialist aggression troops' arrogant behavior of damaging its dignity.
    The commentary goes on:
The U.S. imperialist aggression troops do not consider the killing of civilians as a crime and take their man-killing no more serious than pilfering. The U.S. is not in a position to talk about someone's "human rights performance" and it is, indeed, a human rights abuser that should face an international human rights trial.
There are ample facts to prove this. The recent murder of a south Korean woman by the U.S. aggression troop there and their manner whereby they handled the case heighten the south Korean's vigilance against the U.S.
The recent murder case as horrendous as the killing of Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son will continue to occur and put the south Koreans in a nightmare of horror and disgrace as long as the U.S. imperialist aggression troops, a huge group of human ogres defying law and reason, remain in south Korea. The reality requires the south Korean people to stage the same anti-U.S. candlelight demonstrations as what raged in south Korea three years ago, making the U.S. shudder in order not to suffer bigger national misfortune and disgrace due to the occupation forces.

The single-minded unity of the whole army and the people around the headquarters of the revolution with Kim Jong Il as its head is a decisive guarantee for the victory of the Korean revolution.
The feature of Korea forming a harmonious whole is miraculous one unprecedented in the history of the world.
The unbreakable, single-minded unity of the leader, the Party and masses in Korea, this is the invincible unity consistent with the absolute respect and trust of the Korean people in their leader.
I am convinced that Korea led by Kim Jong Il, great brilliant commander of Songun absolutely revered and respected by the Korean people and the world progressive people, will be ever powerful and prosperous.

Seen standing before the bust was a wreath from Kim Jong Il. general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.
Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Vice-President Yang Hyong Sop of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Secretary Kim Ki Nam of the WPK Central Committee, Vice-Premier Ro Tu Chol, officials of the party and armed forces organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the KPA and working people in the city.

U.S. Forces' Transfer of Firing Range under Fire

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland answering a question put by KCNA Friday accused the U.S. imperialist aggression forces of attempting to use Jik Islet in waters off Kunsan, North Jolla Province, as a substitute for the firing range in Maehyang-ri. Their transfer of the firing range will neither change nor cover up their aggressive and bellicose nature, he noted, and continued: The U.S. troops built a firing range in Maehyang-ri, Hwasong city, Kyonggi Province for their exclusive use and have since conducted madcap mock nuclear bomb-dropping exercises, bombing and firing drills almost everyday for the past 50 years, thus severely devastating the ecological environment in the region and inflicting unspeakable disasters and misfortune upon its inhabitants. Enraged by the forces' moves for a war of aggression and atrocities, south Koreans have conducted dynamic actions demanding the U.S. forces' withdrawal and the closure of the U.S. military bases in different parts of south Korea.
Much upset by this, the U.S. is staging the farce of closing the Maehyang-ri firing range and transferring it to Jik Islet.
It is impossible to free the Korean Peninsula from the danger of war nor is it possible to prevent the same tragedy as what happened in Maehyang-ri as long as the U.S. imperialist aggression troops, chieftain of aggression, war, man-slaughtering and destruction, remain in south Korea. The spokesman denounced the south Korean bellicose forces for their thrice-cursed traitorous act of toeing the U.S. line and offering part of the inviolable territory of Korea to the U.S. forces.
