RS. on Imperial Japanese Army's Biological and chemical War Crimes

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Japan's Tokyo Shimbun recently carried fresh information about the imperial Japanese army's biological and chemical war atrocities in the past. According to it, the Japanese imperialists organized poison gas warfare units not only overseas but at home and conducted exercises under the simulated conditions of an actual war during the Second World War. It was reported that a booklet discovered in the library of the defence institute of the Japan Defence Agency was a reference book for guiding the education and training of recruits at a poison gas warfare unit called "mortar regiment No. 1". The booklet tells how this unit staged exercises under the simulated conditions of an actual poison gas war against the former Soviet Union. In this regard Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed commentary says:
The disclosure of the booklet brought to light once again the truth behind the Japanese imperialists' biological and chemical war, its barbarous nature and their monstrous crimes.
The Japanese imperialists used Koreans and other Asians as guinea pigs for the tests of germs and poison gas and killed them in a brutal manner. These crimes against humanity still make the people shudder.
The fact that materials concerning the crimes related to the Japanese imperialists' germ warfare and the biological and chemical weapons including poison gas bombs stockpiled at that time are still being disclosed one after another though several decades have passed since their defeat suffice to guess the organized nature and scale and brutality of the biochemical warfare committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past.
It was something unprecedented in history that the Japanese imperialists committed barbarous biochemical war against Koreans and other Asians in the past.
This being a hard reality, the Japanese reactionaries have not yet given up their wild dream of reinvading Asia but are keen to impose disasters of the biological and chemical war upon humankind. Japan can never evade its responsibility for the horrendous crimes it committed against the Korean people and other Asians.

Japan's Ambition to Become Military Power Assailed

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Japan's ambition to become a military power and expand overseas is an anachronistic daydream, says Minju Joson Monday in a signed commentary. It goes on:
As for the "law on special measures against terrorism" Japan is trying to extend its term it is little short of the law on dispatching troops overseas that legalized the overseas dispatch of the "Self-Defense Forces" and their military operations. And its new plan for construction of a spacecraft launching ground overseas was prompted by a military attempt to deploy its armed forces of aggression in the favorable regions for military strategy as the U.S. did and step up material preparations to realize its ambition to become a military giant and expand overseas.
Japan's ambition is very dangerous in view of the present situation in and around Japan.
The tendency of deviation to the Right and militarization is now prevailing in Japan. The Japanese ruling quarters are openly letting loose absurd remarks beautifying their criminal past and the movement for inciting militarism is openly being conducted.
In step with this escalating movement at home the Japanese reactionaries are getting over-heated in worsening relations with surrounding countries over the territorial issue and so on.
It is clear what consequences will be entailed by Japan's frantic moves to emerge a military power and realize overseas expansion. Japan's moves can never be tolerated. Not only the Asian and the world people but also the Japanese people should keep the highest vigilance against the persistent moves of the Japanese reactionaries and thoroughly frustrate them.

Settlement of Issue of Former Sexual Slaves for Imperial Japanese Army Demanded in Japan

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held in Tokyo on Oct. 22 under the sponsorship of the National Organization for Planning Simultaneous Actions for the Settlement of the Issue Related to Sexual Slaves for the Imperial Japanese Army in Japan. The meeting was aimed at informing the public of the status of the victims of the crimes related to the "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army in the DPRK and their voices by inviting mainly Japanese students and university postgraduates residing in Tokyo to this campaign in a bid to build up public opinion demanding the Japanese government make an apology and compensation to them.
Its participants first watched a video tape on which testimonies made by the above-said victims are recorded.
Then they heard a speech made by Rumiko Nishino, co-representative of the Japanese Network "War and Violence against Women." She told about the sufferings DPRK woman Pak Yong Sim, one of the above-mentioned victims, underwent, showing photos and materials preserved in the United States.
To pay deeper attention to the status and testimonies of the survivors of the above-said crimes still alive in the DPRK will mark an important occasion in helping the Japanese people have a proper understanding of the crimes committed by Japan in the past.
The meeting stressed the need to lend an ear to the testimonies made by those victims and conduct a campaign for solidarity with them.

S. Korean Peasants' General Strike Hailed

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The Federation of south Korean Trade Unions reportedly issued a statement on Oct. 28 in support of the struggle of peasants against the forced passage of the "bill on rice negotiations". Recalling that the sycophantic "bill on rice negotiations" was passed through the Unification, Diplomacy and Trade Committee of the "National Assembly" in ten minutes on Oct. 27 despite a strong protest of the peasants, the statement said that the large-scale general strike of the peasants staged in different parts of south Korea was a righteous protest to defend the food sovereignty and the vital rights of the peasants. The Federation of south Korean Trade Unions extends positive support to their struggle, it noted.
It stressed that the "government" and the NA should not leave the rice market to the mercy of the foreign forces but take fundamental measures to protect the living of the peasants and revive agriculture.

Punishment of GI Murderers Urged

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for the Implementation of the South-North Joint Declaration in south Korea reportedly issued a statement titled "Punish GI murderers" on Oct. 28. The statement recalled that GI murderers, who mercilessly drove a car over woman Kim Myong Ja to death in Tongduchon City of Kyonggi Province in June last, were acquitted without punishment. The statement deplored the reality of south Korea where even if Koreans were killed by foreigners , the murderers could neither be brought before the court nor be punished. A cycle of criminal evils will continue as long as there remain the U.S. troops in south Korea, it said, urging the immediate abolition of the humiliating and slavish "south Korea-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement" and the complete withdrawal of the U.S. forces from this land.

Struggle for Independent Reunification Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly issued a statement on Oct. 28 calling upon the youth and students to take the lead in the struggle for independent reunification. The statement recalled that thousands of university and college students in Seoul and local areas formed the "National Patriotic Students League for Struggle against Outside Forces and Dictatorship" 19 years ago and launched a dynamic demonstration, disclosing to the people the nature of the United States and the south Korean military dictatorial "regime" serving it.
This struggle taught us the truth that the country can survive only when the youth and students come out as forerunners in the times, the statement said, stressing the need to inherit the spirit of the martyrs of the resistance and bring earlier the day of independent reunification.
The U.S. is persisting in its war moves on the Korean Peninsula and its forces are still present in this land, it noted, adding: This reality calls upon the youth and students to take the lead in the struggle.

Extensive Application of Nano-Technology

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Many efforts have been directed to developing nano-technology in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Achievements made by scientific research institutions in this field have been widely introduced into different sectors of the national economy. The nano-water sterilizers for industrial or home use developed by the Laser Institute under the Academy of Sciences are widely utilized in fields of public health and foodstuff processing industry.
Scientists have established processes for manufacturing various materials by nano-technology and developed an extracorporeal circulation blood purifier and other appliances to treat blood diseases.
The nano-technology research center under the Academy of Agricultural Science has succeeded in manufacturing various kinds of powder with metallic salts by the method of nano-technology to apply them to rolling stocks.
Conspicuous are nano-lubrication oil additives and nano-lubrication oil regenerating materials to be used in rolling stocks.
The car lubrication oil mixed with a small amount of the additive makes it possible to extend the serviceable life of engines 1.5 - 2 times and reduce fuel consumption by 5-10 percent.
And unique properties of the additive decrease its coefficient of sliding friction remarkably.
The ordinary lube oil has to be replaced after 5,000-km run, but the lube oil mixed with the additive is usable even after 15,000-km run. Research institutions attached to different universities are also deepening their research to introduce the nano technology into practice.

180 Cases of U.S. Aerial Espionage in Oct.

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists committed at least 180 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in October with strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes of different missions, according to military sources. U-2 high-altitude reconnaissance planes made long flights in the sky above Tokjok Islet, Phochon and Sokcho almost everyday to spy on strategic objects of the DPRK.
On Oct. 4 and 22 a RC-135 strategic reconnaissance plane made a shuttle flight in the sky 25 km east of Taebu Islet, Yangphyong and Yangyang, spying on objects in the depth area of the DPRK. On Oct. 6 and 10 an EP-3 electronic reconnaissance plane flew in the sky above Kangrung, Wonju and Suwon to spy on the coast and seabed of the DPRK.
A P-3 patrol plane committed aerial espionage of major military objects in the DPRK on Oct. 5 and an E-3 commanding plane on Oct. 13 and 14. Meanwhile, the U.S. imperialists sent tactical reconnaissance planes of different types including RC-12 and RC-7B to spy on the frontline and coastal areas of our side.
These aerial espionage flights clearly prove that the U.S. imperialists are desperately trying to stifle the DPRK militarily behind the scene though they are giving lip-service to the negotiated settlement of the nuclear issue.
