DPRK Delegate on Top Priority for Denuclearization of Korean Peninsula

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- It is the top priority for denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula for the U.S. to stop its nuclear threat to the DPRK and decisively roll back its hostile policy aimed at bringing down its system. The U.S. should make a bold decision to take a practical measure for eradicating the last leftover of the Cold War from the Korean Peninsula. A delegate of the DPRK said this, addressing the meeting of the First Committee of the 60th U.N. General Assembly on Oct. 7. It still remains a pressing issue to prevent a nuclear arms race and denuclearize the world through nuclear disarmament and in order to realize substantial disarmament and ensure durable peace in the world it is necessary to analyze the present situation with a cool head and indicate right ways for it, he noted, and went on:
The DPRK will feel no need to keep even a single nuclear weapon only if the DPRK-U.S. relations are normalized and confidence is built between them and, accordingly, the former is no longer exposed to the latter's threat.
The DPRK sincerely approached the discussion at the recent fourth round of the six-way talks held in Beijing from its principled and fair and aboveboard stand and out of magnanimity in order to realize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, its avowed final goal, thus making it possible to meet all challenges and reach an agreement on the principle of the denuclearization in broad terms.
What is essential at present is for the U.S. to provide light water reactors (LWR) to the DPRK as early as possible as evidence proving its halt to the nuclear threat to the latter and its substantial recognition of the latter's right to nuclear activity for a peaceful purpose.
The denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is the DPRK's avowed final goal and it is its consistent stand to seek negotiated peaceful solution to the nuclear issue. The peninsula cannot be nuclear-free through the DPRK's abandonment of its nuclear weapons program alone.
The DPRK will make every possible effort to clear the peninsula of the threat of foreign forces and ensure lasting peace in the future, too, he concluded.

U.S. Ambition for War Disclosed

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- Kwon Yong Gil, lawmaker from the south Korean Democratic Workers' Party, on October 10 reportedly disclosed the fact that the United States and the south Korean authorities agreed to revise and supplement the "OPLAN 5027". Opening to the public the "guidelines for the operation plan of the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command" which had been worked out at the 34th "South Korea-U.S. annual consultative meeting on security," he disclosed that the main goal of the plan is "to wipe out the army of the north, remove its regime and create conditions for unifying the Korean Peninsula" and others and it calls for "revising and updating the existing the OPLAN 5027." The stipulation that conditions shall be created for unifying the Korean Peninsula," in particular, hints at the launch of a war against the north by the forces of the United States and south Korea, he charged.
If it is true that the United States has no intention to attack or invade the north with nuclear and conventional weapons, the commitment made by it in the joint statement adopted at the fourth-round of the six-way talks, it should totally repeal all war scenarios against the north, he noted. Urging the United States to hold negotiations with the north to build a peace mechanism as early as possible as it had agreed to do so at the six-way talks, he declared that it is possible to ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula only when the U.S. rolls back its hostile policy towards the north and stop working out plans for a war of aggression and halt at once its military exercises under way according to them.

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Karlov hosted a reception at the Taedonggang Club for the Diplomatic Corps on Oct. 13 on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and the Russian Federation. He expressed the belief that the cooperation between the two countries based on the mutual respect and interests will grow stronger on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Russia and the DPRK.
Paek Nam Sun, speaking next, said that Kim Jong Il received Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, presidential envoy to the Far East Region of the Russian Federation, visited the DPRK once again in the wake of his visit in last August and his party and the members of the State Academy Ensemble of the Ministry of Interior of Russia and enjoyed the performance given by the ensemble together with them and said important words regarding the development of the bilateral friendly relations.

Japan Urged to Drop Its Hostile Policy toward DPRK

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- The DPRK-Japan relations keep deteriorating and the Japanese reactionaries' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK have reached their extremes in recent years, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed article. The Japanese reactionaries' ever-more undisguised hostile policy toward the DPRK is an indication of a criminal policy based on their militarist view on aggression aimed at realizing their ambition for reinvasion at any cost, the article says, and goes on:
The Japanese reactionaries are frantically stepping up the preparations to stage a comeback to Korea although 60 years have passed since the defeat of the Japanese imperialists. Their moves to emerge a military giant keen on overseas expansion arouse big apprehension and uneasiness among people in Asia and other parts of the world for their aggressive and dangerous nature.
They are desperately pushing forward the arms build-up and the retrogressive revision of the constitution behind the scene while raising a hue and cry over "military threat from north Korea."
These moves of Japan to become a military power and institute wartime laws are part of its moves to round off the preparations to reinvade the DPRK. The Japanese reactionaries claim that Japan may fight a war against north Korea and it would strike the heart of north Korea while amassing major units of the "Self-defence Forces" in western areas of the country close to Korea. This is little short of a declaration to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK and a military provocation. Japan's moves to grab Tok Islet have something in common with this and therefore they can be interpreted as a prelude to its reinvasion of Korea.
Japan is working with bloodshot eyes to revive its colonial domination over Korea. The Japanese reactionaries' stepped up moves for reinvasion will only accelerate their isolation and destruction. The Japanese reactionaries should bear this in mind and roll back their hostile policy toward the DPRK and drop the ambition for invasion.

Rodong Sinmun on Significant Celebration of WPK's 60th Anniversary

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- The DPRK significantly celebrated the 60th birthday of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea as a grand festival of proud victors amid the elated political enthusiasm of the whole party and army and all people, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in an editorial. The celebration of the 60th anniversary of the WPK was a grand political festival as it strikingly demonstrated the unshakable faith and will of the army and people of the DPRK to materialize the idea of President Kim Il Sung and accomplish his cause, the editorial notes, and goes on: The events held in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the WPK clearly proved the steel-strong faith and will of all the servicepersons and people to accomplish the cause of the WPK, which has its roots in the Down-with-Imperialism Union, holding aloft the red flag associated with the whole life of the President.
Fully reflected in those events were the intense loyalty, faith and enthusiasm of the servicepersons and people who have made a long journey of the arduous Songun revolution, reposing deep trust in Kim Jong Il.
The success made by the Party, army and people of the DPRK in the grand October festival is a fruition of his outstanding wisdom and energetic guidance. All the functions represented grand epic canvases to remain long in history, something thinkable only in the DPRK led by the peerless great man, as they reached an acme in ideological value and artistry, in terms of organization and discipline, scope and theme and style.
Never have the WPK, the revolutionary armed forces and the government of the DPRK so strikingly demonstrated their invincible might built up in the last several decades as through this festival.
Socialist Korea of Juche will eternally prosper and its people will have a rosy future as it is led by Kim Jong Il.
The editorial stresses the need to vigorously push ahead with the general advance for building a great prosperous powerful nation with the same pride and revolutionary spirit with which they significantly celebrated the WPK's 60th anniversary.

Three Forms of National Cooperation Called for

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- The three forms of cooperation for national independence, for peace against war and for reunification and patriotism serve as a banner of unity of all Koreans and as a banner of struggle. They are called upon to realize these three forms of cooperation. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article. It goes on:
It is a vital and essential task before the Korean nation to realize these forms of cooperation.
National independence is a core issue in carving out the destiny of our nation and resolving the national issues. The national independence guarantees the dignity and rights, honor and happiness of the nation.
Peace is a crucial matter related to the security of the Korean nation as it is the generally accepted idea of humankind.
Protecting peace from a war is a very urgent task before the Koreans who underwent horrible war disaster in the 1950s and have been exposed to the constant threat of war for many years.
Reunification is the biggest task of the Korean nation. The Koreans desire reunification awake or asleep as they have undergone sufferings and misfortune resulting from the territorial division for more than 60 years. Reunification, indeed, represents patriotism.
National independence, peace against war and reunification and patriotism are main goals of struggle common to our nation and they are inseparably linked with each other.
Peace and reunification would be unthinkable without independence. Peace against war protects independence and is aimed at attaining reunification. Reunification is also designed to achieve national independence and lasting peace for the nation. Independence, peace and reunification are vital to the Korean nation and they are the national task to be fulfilled by the Koreans without fail.
National independence, peace against war and reunification and patriotism can be achieved only when all Koreans go united close in their resolute struggle.
The Koreans can successfully achieve whatever they wish only when these three forms of cooperation have been realized. They guarantee independence, peace and reunification and the successful implementation of the June 15 joint declaration, the article concludes.

Japan's Political Farce against Chongryon Assailed

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) --The Japanese reactionaries are becoming evermore undisguised in their political suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). The Tokyo High Court on Oct. 6 staged the 2nd trial of Kang Yong Gwan, former director of the financial department of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon who had been illegally arrested and prosecuted by the Japanese investigation authorities at which it resorted to such a political suppression as sentencing him to 6 years in jail.
This judgment of conviction made by the investigation authorities on the basis of its faked-up indictment having neither material evidence nor testimonies of witnesses patently proves that it was nothing but a despicable political charade as it was in gross violation of the "principle of judging any case on the basis of evidence" advocated by Japan.
This trial was a clear expression of the hostile policy of the Japanese authorities towards the DPRK and Chongryon aimed at justifying their political crackdown and forcible search campaign against it and impair the high prestige of the DPRK.
At the end of the trial the defence panel for Kang held a press conference at which it made public a statement declaring the court ruling illegal. Officials of Chongryon and compatriots held a protest meeting in front of the court to be followed by a meeting denouncing the unfair judgment made by the court and a meeting to hear a report from the defence panel for Kang which assailed the unwarranted action taken by the Japanese judicial authorities.

Cheers Welcoming President Kim Il Sung's Return Still Reverberate

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- Sixty years have passed since a mammoth Pyongyang city mass rally was held at the Pyongyang public playground (Kim Il Sung Stadium at present) on October 14, Juche 34 (1945) in welcome of the triumphant return of President Kim Il Sung, the peerless patriot, who led the anti-Japanese war to victory to liberate the country. Pyongyang Minbo, a newspaper at that time, wrote about the rally:
"Pyongyang has a long history of 4,000 years and a large population of 400,000. Has it ever had such a large meeting as this and such an important meeting?
"… As soon as General Kim Il Sung appeared on the platform, the hero whom the Korean people hold in high respect and have been looking forward to seeing, a storm of enthusiastic cheers arose, and most of the audience were deeply moved to silent tears."
The playground was crowded with Pyongyang citizens and many other people who came from Sinuiju, Chongjin, Hamhung, Wonsan, Haeju and south Korea, carrying bouquets and placards in their hands.

His speech replete with the love for the country and the nation and the idea of great national unity has served as ideological and mental source with which the people have established the Korean-style socialist country independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defence. And the enthusiastic cheers supporting his idea are still touching a string in the hearts of the Korean people.
In order to convey the historical triumphant return home of the President down through generations, the Korean people reconstructed Moranbong Stadium on an extension basis and named it Kim Il Sung Stadium and erected the Arch of Triumph, a monumental edifice.
