Chief of AINDF Pyongyang Mission on WPK Exploits

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Jo Il Min, chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, stressed that the noble exploits of the Workers' Party of Korea in defending independence and national dignity, the life and soul of the Korean nation, and speeding up national reunification would be handed down long with the history of the nation. He was interviewed by KCNA Saturday on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the WPK.
    He said that the WPK set it as its main mission to realize independence of the people and performed great exploits in the efforts for it. The WPK has wisely led the cause of national reunification and great national unity, he said, and went on:
    The WPK is the only party that set forth national reunification as its important mission and has vigorously led the nation to the road of reunification for the last six decades.
    It has resolutely rejected the flunkeyism and treachery of the separatist forces following the outside forces against national reunification and always held fast to the line of reunification.
    It has made a great contribution to leading the whole Korean nation to patriotism according to the reunification line based on the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity.
    It is the common honor and pride of the nation to have the WPK which has brought up a large number of indomitable party members and achieved the integral whole of the leader and the people with the party members as its hard core.
    It is the precious fruition of the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung, a great thinker and politician, that the WPK is becoming the most dignified and authorized party.
    The WPK, crystal of the idea and leadership of the President, is shining brighter as it is holding Kim Jong Il, the prominent leader of the era, as its general secretary.

Russian Guests Appreciate Art Performance

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, presidential envoy to the Far East Region of the Russian Federation, and his party on a visit to the DPRK to participate in celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea appreciated a performance given by the State Symphony Orchestra at the People's Palace of Culture on Saturday. Among the audience were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Kung Sok Ung, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and other officials concerned, Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Gennadiyevich Karlov and staff members of the Russian embassy and working people in the city.
    The State Symphony Orchestra staged with peculiar rendition and high artistry music pieces such as the fourth movement "Glory to General Kim Jong Il" of the symphonic suite "Long Journey for Songun Leadership" and orchestral music "Rich Harvest Comes to the Chongsan Plain", "Arirang" and "A Girl on Swing." Through its presentation the orchestra showed well its appearance as a prestigious art group that has made progress under the wise leadership of the Party.
    It also staged foreign music pieces including the first movement of Sostakovich's seventh symphony "Leningrad." A floral basket was presented to the artistes, congratulating them on their successful presentation.

Book "History of Anti-Japanese Armed Struggle" Vol. 10 Published

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The Science and Encyclopedia Press published the book "History of Anti-Japanese Armed Struggle" Vol. 10 (enlarged edition). The book deals with the immortal revolutionary exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung in the period from May to August, Juche 34 (1945), the brilliant revolutionary tradition established in the anti-Japanese armed struggle and the revolutionary culture created during the period. The book contains the historic data that the President called a meeting of military and political cadres of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army in the Far East base of the former Soviet Union on May 10, Juche 34 (1945) to suit the requirements of the military and political situation after the defeat of fascist Germany in the Second World War and set forth the direction of final attack operations for the liberation of the country and wisely led the struggle for its implementation.
    It is stressed in the book that the people from all walks of life held colorful functions in Pyongyang and Seoul in a jubilant mood after the liberation of the country to greet the President's triumphant return to the homeland as a grand national jubilee under the sponsorship of the committee for welcoming General Kim Il Sung.
    Seen in the book are the facts that according to orders given by him the units of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and the revolutionary organizations attacked such colonial ruling organs as provincial and county offices and police stations and established people's local self-governing organs, while wiping out the remnants of the defeated Japanese imperialist aggression army throughout the country.
    The book carries data that the President founded the Juche idea as the guiding idea of the revolution in the glorious course of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and, on this basis, set forth the Songun idea.

Rodong Sinmun on Great Mother Party, WPK

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries an editorial article headlined "The Workers' Party of Korea is the great mother party." The lengthy article says:
    The development of the WPK as a mother party is the historic summing-up of the 60-year building of the Party. To develop the Party as a mother party is the fundamental requirement of the building of the socialist ruling party. The Party guided by the Juche idea has been built and strengthened as a mother party since its foundation.
    The Party has carried out its duty as the mother party responsible for the destiny of the people for tens of years last. The people call the Party the mother party from the bottom of their hearts.
    The development of the Party as the great mother party is of great significance in building a revolutionary party and accomplishing the cause of the Juche revolution.
    With the successful accomplishment of the cause of mother party building the relationship between the Party and the popular masses has become the most solid ideological and intentional relationship.
    The bosom of the Party is that of the great mother as it leads the people to successfully carry out arduous revolution .
    With the accomplishment of the cause of mother party building in the country the Party and the people have become a community of destiny.     The main factor of terming the WPK the great mother party lies in embodying the benevolent politics and the Songun politics together in party building and activities under the banner of Juche.
    The history of the Party developing into the great mother party has fully demonstrated to the era and the humankind that the benevolent politics and the Songun politics are the most powerful socialist political mode that helps give a most dignified life to the people, build the ground of happiness and defend the destiny and future of the people firmly in any worst adversity.
    The biggest fortune for a party and people is to be led by a good leader and the biggest misfortune is to be led by a bad leader. It is the valuable truth proved by the 60-year-long history of party building that a party can become a mother party only when it has the great father of the people, who takes responsibilities for their destiny to the end , at the head of the party and army.

Kim Yong Nam Meets Angolan Delegation

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, today met and had a friendly talk with a delegation of the Popular Liberation Movement of Angola headed by Member of the Political Bureau and Chairman of the Control Commission of its Central Committee Ferreira Pinto at the Mansudae Assembly Hall. On hand were Kim Thae Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials concerned. On the occasion, the head of the delegation asked Kim Yong Nam to convey to leader Kim Jong Il greetings of Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, president of the Central Committee of the Popular Liberation Movement of Angola and president of the Republic of Angola.
    Noting that the government and people of Angola will positively support the just cause of the Korean people to reunify the country and build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, he wished the Korean people greater success in their struggle under the leadership of great Songun.

Floral Baskets Laid before Monument to Victory in Fatherland Liberation War

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets were laid before the Monument to Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on Sunday on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. Present at the floral basket-laying ceremony were Kim Il Chol, Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Kuk Thae, Kwak Pom Gi and Kim Yong Dae who is chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party and officials of the party, military and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions and officers and men of the Korean People's Army and working people in the city. A floral basket was laid before the main theme sculpture "Victory" of the monument in the joint name of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK.
    Then floral baskets were laid in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, social organizations, ministries, national institutions, KPA units, science, education, public health and media organs, party and power organs and factories in Pyongyang.
    Written on the ribbons of the floral baskets were letters "Victory and Glory to the Servicepersons of the Heroic Korean People's Army!" The participants paid noble respects to the servicepersons of the heroic KPA who resolutely beat back the armed invasion of the imperialist allied forces and honorably defended the freedom and independence of the country and the gains of the Party and revolution by displaying matchless bravery and mass heroism in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War.

Russian VIPs Visit Kumsusan Memorial Palace

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, presidential envoy to the Far East Region of the Russian Federation, and his party visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace where President Kim Il Sung lies in state and paid tribute to him on Sunday. Present there were Kung Sok Ung, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK. They paid with unbounded reverence homage to the President who made an undying contribution to the friendship and solidarity between the peoples of the DPRK and Russia and the accomplishment of the human cause of independence.
    Then they looked round with keen interest orders and medals the President received from different countries of the world, the Mourning Hall, a train coach and a car used by the President.
    The presidential envoy made the following entry in the visitor's book: "I pay high tribute to Comrade Kim Il Sung, an outstanding statesman of the world. He is widely known as a close friend of the Russian people."

National Meeting Held

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the May Day Stadium today to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. Leader Kim Jong Il was present at the meeting.
    Also present were leading cadres of the WPK, the state and the army and chairpersons of the friendly parties.
    Kim Yong Nam, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, made a report at the meeting.
    The WPK is the party founded on the basis of the organizational and ideological foundation personally provided by President Kim Il Sung in the course of waging a protracted anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle under the banner of the Juche idea after founding it, the reporter said, and continued: After liberating Korea, Kim Il Sung clearly saw through the complicated political situation in the country and the prospect of the revolution and declared the foundation of the WPK to the world on October 10, Juche 34 (1945) on the basis of the revolutionary traditions of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.
    The foundation of the WPK made it possible for the Korean revolution to have its reliable militant staff capable of victoriously pushing forward the cause of building a new society and for the Korean people to form a strong driving force of the revolution to create a proud history of independence and prosperity under the leadership of the Party.
    The history of building the WPK is a proud history in which the Juche idea founded by the President and developed in depth as a revolutionary philosophy by the Party has been applied to all fields.
    The President, on the basis of the Juche idea, set out the idea and theory of party building, which newly clarified the fundamental principles and methods of building a revolutionary party in the present times, and wisely led the struggle to implement them.
    The WPK has developed into the party which firmly established the monolithic idea and unitary leadership of the leader and their inheritance, the party which considers the interests of the people as the supreme principle of the revolution and faithfully serves the people and the party which gives priority to the army of the revolution in order to defend the sovereignty of the country and achieve its prosperity. Herein lie the true appearance, invincible might and high dignity of the WPK which has been strengthened under the wise guidance of the President and Kim Jong Il. The WPK has led the popular masses to record a proud history of great change and creation in the revolution and construction for the last 6 decades. True to the Juche-oriented revolutionary idea and line of the President, the Party successfully carried out the deep-going social revolutions at two stages and two rounds of difficult rehabilitation and construction to establish the progressive socialist system and sped up the three revolutions, ideological, technical and cultural, under the banner of uninterrupted revolution to build the socialist country of Juche shining with independence in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliance in national defence.
    Under the leadership of the President, the invincible and iron-willed commander, the Party led the fierce Fatherland Liberation War against the armed invasion of the U.S. imperialists and its stooges to victory to honorably defend the freedom and independence of the country and smashed the imperialists' every persistent move for aggression and war to resolutely defend the sovereignty of the country and the gains of the revolution. In the last one decade, the period of the most stern trial in particular, the Party held fast to the line of attaching importance to ideology, the political line of unity, the Songun revolutionary line in the revolution and construction to consolidate and develop the unity and cohesion of our society into the single-minded unity of the whole Party, the entire army and all the people based on comradeship centered on the leader and significantly strengthen the political and ideological position of the revolution and trained the Korean People's Army into a strong revolutionary army prepared politically and ideologically and in military technique on the basis of the successes achieved in the struggle to model the entire army on the Juche idea and thus consolidated the military position of the DPRK as an impregnable fortress.
    The Party has bravely smashed the imperialist reactionaries' vicious moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK in reliance on the political, ideological and military might of the country, achieved victory after another in defending socialism and waged a persevering struggle to build modern production bases and many monumental edifices of eternal value in different parts of the country and lay a firm material foundation for the building of a prosperous and powerful nation.
    The WPK has applied the idea of national independence to open up a turning phase in accomplishing the cause of national reunification and remarkably expanded the external relations of the country and boosted the international solidarity with the Korean revolution thanks to its independent foreign policy. We are faced with historic tasks to step up the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, speed up the independent reunification of the country and achieve the final victory of the cause of Juche, the cause of Songun under the leadership of the great Party. We should uphold the President as the eternal leader of the Party and the people, glorify his idea and exploits performed in party building and more firmly establish the Party unitary leadership system.
    We should politically and ideologically defend the headquarters of the revolution with our lives and thoroughly implement the line and policies of the Party. The single-minded unity of the Party and the revolutionary ranks is the mainstay of the revolution.
    The whole Party, the entire army and all the people should unite close on the basis of the revolutionary comradeship to augment the might of our revolutionary ranks in every way.
    We should fully embody the Party's Songun politics, an all-powerful treasured sword for victory in our revolution, under any circumstances and conditions and direct primary efforts to the strengthening of the KPA and the development of the national defence industry to consolidate the military position of our revolution as firm as an iron-wall.
    We should step up the economic construction to bring about a surge on all the fronts of the socialist construction and occupy the high peak of a great prosperous powerful nation as early as possible.
    We will achieve the three forms of cooperation--national independence, peace against war and reunification and patriotism--under the banner of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration to build a powerful, independent and prosperous reunified country.
    We will firmly unite with the people of all the countries advocating independence in the idea of our foreign policy-- independence, peace and friendship-- to resolutely defend global peace and security and wage a vigorous struggle to build an independent, peaceful and friendly new world.

Taean Friendship Glass Factory Commissioned in Presence of Kim Jong Il

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The Taean Friendship Glass Factory was commissioned on the eve of the 60th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. Built with grant-in-aid from the Chinese party and government, the factory is symbolic of the DPRK-China friendship that has grown strong generation after generation.
    The factory built as a monumental edifice under the deep care of the top leaders of the two countries is a modern glass producer with big production capacity as all its main production processes and auxiliary facilities have been furnished with latest equipment.
    The factory associated with the disinterested fraternal friendship of the party, the government and the people of China will greatly contribute to the DPRK's socialist economic construction and the betterment of the standard of its people's living.
    A commissioning ceremony of the factory was held in grand style on the spot today.
    Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, appeared in the venue of the ceremony together with Wu Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Communist Party of China and vice-premier of the State Council of China.
    Present there were Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Il Chol, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission and minister of the People's Armed Forces, Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, and Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the SPA of the DPRK.
    On hand were members of the Chinese government delegation including Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai and Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council Xu Shao Shi and Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe and staff members of the Chinese embassy, Teng Fuquan, general director of the Yaohua Glass Group Corporation of China, and officials, technicians and workers of the corporation.
    Also on hand were leading officials of the Party, armed forces and power organs, ministries and national institutions and South Phyongan Province. Pak Pong Ju made an address for the occasion.
    Then followed a congratulatory speech by Wu Yi.
    Pak Pong Ju together with Wu Yi, Minister of Construction and Building Materials Industries Tong Jong Ho and Teng Fuquan cut the red tape hanging at the entrance to the production building, announcing the commissioning of the glass factory.
    Kim Jong Il went round the factory together with the Chinese guests and senior officials of the Party and State accompanying him. Greatly satisfied with the successful completion of the factory, he expressed deep thanks to the Chinese party and government with Hu Jintao as general secretary for having provided the modern glass factory free to the DPRK.
    The Chinese party, government and people, that supported the DPRK in its revolutionary struggle both materially and morally in the past, provided a large glass factory to it free this time again and did their best to hand over to it a perfect factory fully reflecting the need of the new century, he noted, adding that the Korean people will always remember this sincerest and comradely precious aid.
    He highly appreciated once again the merits the officials, technicians and builders of the Yaohua Glass Group Corporation have performed by devoting all their wisdom and energies to completing the factory at the highest level true to the intention of their party and government.

Wreaths Laid before Martyrs Cemeteries

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Senior officials of the Party, the state and the army, servicepersons, working people, school youth and children laid wreaths at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery today on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. Seen on the wreath-laying stands were wreaths sent by Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.
    Amid the playing of the wreath-laying music after the playing of the national anthem wreaths were laid at the cemeteries in the name of the Central Committee of the WPK, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the DPRK Cabinet.
    Placed there then were wreaths in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, public organizations, ministries, national institutions, KPA units, scientific, educational, cultural, arts, public health and media institutions, the national joint organization of the Korean Children's Union, party and power bodies and farms in the city and bouquets and flowers.
    Written on the ribbons of the wreaths were letters "Glory to the Revolutionary Martyrs!" and "Glory to the Patriotic Martyrs!" The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the revolutionary martyrs and patriotic martyrs.
    They laid bouquets before the bust of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong.

Kim Jong Il Receives Russian Presidential Envoy

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, Sunday received Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, presidential envoy to the Far East Region of the Russian Federation, and his party on a visit to the DPRK to participate in the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the WPK. Present there were Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK. The presidential envoy conveyed a personal letter from Russian President V. V. Putin to Kim Jong Il before presenting him with a gift prepared by himself. Kim Jong Il thanked for this and had a cordial and friendly talk with the presidential envoy.
    After receiving the Russian guests, Kim Jong Il hosted a luncheon in honor of them.
    Present there on invitation were the presidential envoy and his party and official diplomats of the Russian embassy.

Kim Jong Il Awarded Honorary Doctorate in Law

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, was awarded honorary doctorate in law of Far-Eastern State University of Russia. An awarding ceremony took place on Sunday.
    Kim Jong Il was present there.
    Also present was Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs.
    On hand were Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, presidential envoy to the Far East Region of the Russian Federation, and his party and Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of the Russian embassy here.
    Vladimir Ivanovich Kurilov, president of the university, who had come to the DPRK together with the presidential envoy, courteously presented the certificate of the honorary doctor of law, a medal and dress of the honorary doctor to Kim Jong Il, noting that the university decided to award the honorary doctorate in law to Kim Jong Il in recognition of his distinguished contribution to the development of education, science and culture and arts for peace and progress of human civilization.
    Kim Jong Il expressed thanks for this and had a photograph taken with the president of the university.

Grand Gymnastic and Artistic Performance "Arirang" Given

     Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang," Kim Il Sung Prize laureate, was given at the May Day Stadium Sunday evening before capacity audience in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. Amid the playing of the welcome music, Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the WPK, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, appeared on the platform of honor.
    The performance was watched by senior officials of the Party, the state and the army including Kim Yong Nam, Jo Myong Rok, Pak Pong Ju and Kim Yong Chun and delegates to the celebrations of the 60th birthday of the WPK, officials of the Party, military and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions and working people in the city.
    Also among the audience were congratulatory groups of Koreans from different regions of the world including the congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan led by So Man Sul, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, members of delegations of overseas Koreans and overseas compatriots who came to the homeland to participate in the celebrations of the anniversary. Kim Jong Il's Work Published in South Africa

     Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- The famous work of leader Kim Jong Il "The Workers' Party of Korea Is the Party of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" was published in booklet by the Multi Print Publishing House of South Africa on Sept. 30. The work, made public on Oct. 2, Juche 84 (1995), serves as an undying great programme for party construction and activities as it proudly reviewed the glorious history of the WPK which paved a new path for building a revolutionary party in the era of independence under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and indicated ways of developing the party into the eternal party of the President.

Papers Call for Accomplishing Revolutionary Cause of Juche under WPK Leadership

     Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- Papers here today editorially call for accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, holding leader Kim Jong Il in high esteem. It is the greatest pride and fortune of the army and the people of the DPRK that they are ushering in a new era of the Juche-oriented revolution, having Kim Jong Il at the top post of the WPK, Rodong Sinmun notes, and goes on:
    The WPK is leading the struggle of the army and the people of the DPRK to accomplish the Juche cause to a brilliant victory, enjoying high dignity and leadership authority, as it has achieved the unbreakable unity and cohesion around him and has been tested and experienced in the course of weathering out the tempest of the Songun revolution.
    The WPK led by him is firmly preserving and glorifying the revolutionary character of the party of President Kim Il Sung and demonstrating its might as the invincible militant party confidently leading the cause of the building of a great prosperous powerful nation with its veteran and tested leadership. It is proud of being a great mother party unequivocally supported and trusted by the popular masses.
    Victory is always in store for us as long as there is the leadership of the great party having the distinguished leader at its top post. Kim Jong Il represents the destiny and future of the Korean people and a symbol of all forms of dignity and honor of the country. We should enshrine the fixed faith that the country and the nation have a rosy future as he is leading the Party and the revolution. We should firmly believe and follow him only with undisputed trust in him despite whatever storms. We should eternally glorify his undying Songun revolutionary leadership feats as an eternal cornerstone of the WPK and the revolution and the greatest national treasure. We should protect him politically and ideologically at the risk of our lives, holding high the banner of devotedly defending the headquarters of the revolution.
    All the Party members, servicepersons and people should deeply grasp the Songun idea as unshakable faith and fully embody it in their work and life. They should conduct all the work of the revolution and construction on the principle of giving priority to the military affairs under any circumstances, regarding them as the most important state affairs.
    It is necessary to consolidate as firm as a rock the single-minded unity of the Party, the army and the people as the community united by the same destiny whose members share idea, intention, destiny and future with the leader. Minju Joson says that there is an immensely bright prospect for the revolutionary cause of Juche as it is advancing under the leadership of the WPK having Kim Jong Il at its head.

Pyongyang Bicycle Joint Venture Factory Commissioned

     Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Bicycle Joint Venture Factory has been commissioned. The factory, a joint venture by the DPRK Committee for Promotion of External Economic Cooperation and the Tianjin, China, Digital Trade Company, Ltd., will produce various kinds of bicycles of good quality for the convenience of the Korean people's living.
    A commissioning ceremony was held on the spot on October 7.
    Congratulatory speeches were made at the ceremony.
    Paek Hyon Bong, chairman of the DPRK committee, expressed thanks to the Chinese friends for making sincere efforts for the commissioning of the factory, noting that the commissioning of the factory in a significant period greeting the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea is of very significance in the favorably developing relations of economic cooperation between the DPRK and China.
    The construction of the factory made him feel that if the two peoples sincerely cooperate with each other for their common interests, they will achieve greater successes, he said, expressing the conviction that the production and operation of the factory will record a great good result. More Events Held to Mark 60th anniversary of WPK

     Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- More events took place in the DPRK on the occasion the 60th founding anniversary of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea. A meeting of members of the Korean Democratic Women's Union was held at the plaza of the Tower of the Juche Idea on Friday. Speakers at the meeting said that the 60-year-long history of the WPK is a glorious and sacred one shining thanks to the energetic revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il as they explored a new unique path of building a revolutionary party under the banner of the Juche idea and led the cause of independence of popular masses and socialism to victory in reliance upon the strong army.
    Present at the meeting was Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the WPK Central Committee.
    A demonstration performance of the successful entrants of the central competition of the national oratorical contest "Hymn in the Era of Songun Dedicated to October Holiday" was held at the People's Palace of Culture and a combined performance of the 52nd national art festival of workers at the Central Workers' Hall on the same day.

Chinese Government Delegation Here

     Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- A Chinese government delegation led by Wu Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and vice-premier of the State Council of China, arrived here Saturday to pay an official goodwill visit to the DPRK at the invitation of the DPRK government. Choe Thae Bok Meets Cuban Party Delegation

Talks between WPK and PLMA Delegations

     Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- Talks between the delegations of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Popular Liberation Movement of Angola were held here today. At the talks both sides informed each other of the activities of their parties and exchanged views on developing the friendly and cooperative ties between the two parties and the issues of mutual concern.

Kim Jong Il Awarded Diploma of Honorary Academician and Badge

     Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was nominated as an honorary academician by the Russian People's Academy of Sciences, a public complex. He was the first head of state and party leader of a foreign country to be nominated as an honorary academician of the academy. A diploma of an honorary academician and a badge of the academy were handed to a staff member of the DPRK embassy in Moscow by the president of the academy at a meeting held in Moscow on Sept. 30 under the sponsorship of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in celebration of the 60th birthday of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Kim Jong Il Receives Chinese Government Delegation

     Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, Saturday received the Chinese government delegation led by Wu Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the C. C., the Communist Party of China and vice-premier of the State Council of China, on a visit to the DPRK. On hand were Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Yang Gon, councilor of the DPRK National Defence Commission, and Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK.
    Wu Yi conveyed to Kim Jong Il a verbal personal message from Hu Jintao, general secretary of the C. C., the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China, and congratulations from the senior officials of the Chinese party and government and a gift from herself. Kim Jong Il thanked for this and asked her to transmit his regards to Hu Jintao and other senior officials of the Chinese party and government. He conversed with Wu Yi in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
    He hosted a dinner in honor of the Chinese guests.
    Present there on invitation were the members of the Chinese government delegation, official diplomats of the Chinese embassy here, Teng Fuquan, general director of the Yaohua Glass Group Corporation of China, and Cao Tianping, chairman of the corporation and secretary of its party committee. Present at the dinner were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the C. C., the WPK, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.     @Pyongyang, 8 de octubre (ATCC) -- Los periodicos capitalinos publicaron en sus respectivas ediciones del dia 8 editoriales llamando a llevar a feliz termino la causa revolucionaria del Juche bajo la direccion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea. Abrir una nueva era de la revolucion del Juche teniendo al Dirigente Kim Jong Il en el puesto cimero del partido constituye un gran orgullo y fortuna para el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea, comienza el del diario Rodong Sinmun y prosigue:
    El PTC logro la indestructible unidad y cohesion en torno al Dirigente y se forjo en medio de vientos y mareas que tuvo que enfrentar la revolucion del Songun (priorizacion militar).
    Con su gran dignidad y alto prestigio, el PTC conduce hoy a la victoria la lucha del ejercito y el pueblo de nuestro pais por coronar la causa del Juche. Conversaciones entre delegaciones del PTC y del MPLA

    @Pyongyang, 8 de octubre (ATCC) -- Tuvieron lugar el dia 8 en esta capital las conversaciones entre la delegacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y la del Movimiento Popular de Liberacion de Angola. Ambas partes informaron del estado de las actividades de sus respectivos partidos e intercambiaron opiniones sobre el problema de desarrollar las relaciones de amistad y cooperacion entre los dos partidos y otros de interes mutuo.

Kim Jong Il recibe certificado de academico honorario de Rusia

    @Pyongyang, 8 de octubre (ATCC) -- La Academia Popular de Rusia concedio al Dirigente Kim Jong Il el titulo de academico honorario. De esta forma, el Dirigente se hizo el primer estadista y lider del partido extranjero en recibir esa distincion de la citada entidad rusa, conocida como complejo social.
    Piotr Phyodorovichi Ivankov, presidente de la academia, entrego el 30 de septiembre el certificado de academico honorario y la insignia de su entidad a un funcionario de la embajada coreana en Rusia durante un acto festivo por el 60 aniversario de la fundacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, celebrado en Moscu bajo auspicios del Partido Comunista de la Union Sovietica.
